      Who believed
In love, in the smile, in the flower
      Thus dreamed, dreamed
      And lost peace
Love, the smile, and the flower
      They transformed too quickly
      Who, in the heart
Sheltered the sadness of seeing all of this lose itself
      And, in loneliness
Sought a road and followed it,
Already faithless in a happy day
      Who cried, cried
And cried to the point that all of their tears dried up
      Who returned afterwards
To love, to the smile and to the flower
      Thus found everything
      And the selfsame suffering
      Revealed the road of love
      And the sadness ended
That's the most accurate version I found

Love all their work but this recording has something extra special - it's so calming to listen to and watch, seeing the way they all look so comfortable with what they are doing and the beautiful and controlled sounds that are coming across. Alba is the focus for it with her understated but beautiful voice and trumpet playing, but put together with all the other superb playing, I find this one of the best musical experiences on you tube.

1.2million hits and yet this is the music that the BBC ignores despite having about five music channels.
It has been my view for some years that if young people are actually exposed to popular music with a strong melodic line played on a variety of instruments ( not just electric guitars and drums ) and with intelligent lyrics, music that appeals to our higher sentiments, they will pick it up and run with it and Joan Charmorrow is proving me right - thank you Joan.

No that electric guitar can’t be interesting but I get your point. I consider myself very lucky, as a young man, to have been exposed to jazz as a boy. My mother used to bring me to the montreal jazz festival.

One of the things I love about your program, Joan, is that you have girls involved in improvisation. This is an area where American jazz education has much room for improvement. Instrumental jazz is largely still a boy's club, especially in the wind instruments. There is a cultural switch we need to flip that encourages (and insists to hear?) the voices of our female students in jazz. Your channel gives me excellent, contemporary examples to play for them, and I thank you!

    Quem acreditou
No amor, no sorriso, na flor
    Então sonhou, sonhou
    E perdeu a paz
    O amor, o sorriso e a flor
    Se transformam depressa demais
    Quem, no coração
    Abrigou a tristeza de ver
    Tudo isto se perder
    E, na solidão
    Procurou um caminho e seguiu
Já descrente de um dia feliz
    Quem chorou, chorou
E tanto que seu pranto já secou
    Quem depois voltou
Ao amor, ao sorriso e à flor
    Então tudo encontrou
    Pois a própria dor
    Revelou o caminho do amor
    E a tristeza acabou
    :)

To be honest, I've always been a heavy metal kinda guy when it came to music, jazz has never really been my thing. But I gotta say, I turned this on while taking a walk and it completely changed my whole perspective on the genre, I discovered an entire separate world of great music that I was completely overlooking for so long. Some absolute gems here, thanks a million.
