This is why I appreciate Ms Alba so much. She comes out of a vocal and perfectly plays her trumpet solo right on the beat. Or comes out of a trumpet solo and nails the vocal! Amazing talent! Everyone is great playing this great Tom Jobim song!

No that electric guitar can’t be interesting but I get your point. I consider myself very lucky, as a young man, to have been exposed to jazz as a boy. My mother used to bring me to the montreal jazz festival. Later in life, I discovered Bossa in music school and even sang one of my final exams in broken portugaise. What fun times!

In Austin Texas eating a late lunch at 5:45 p.m. This song made my day!. Can't wait to get home and hear it again. I play trumpet, so I'm partial to the brass, but everyone sounded so good. The combined sound of everyone was a joy to listen to.

One of the things I love about your program, Joan, is that you have girls involved in improvisation. This is an area where American jazz education has much room for improvement. Instrumental jazz is largely still a boy's club, especially in the wind instruments. There is a cultural switch we need to flip that encourages (and insists to hear?) the voices of our female students in jazz. Your channel gives me excellent, contemporary examples to play for them, and I thank you!
Not to be political but this is the truth...the reason why woman are not included as much as men in American jazz is because of their decisions not because they are being purposely excluded
@@seankim5762 man no one is saying women are directly excluded from jazz, it's just that since jazz has always been such a boys club it may give the impression of being a "hostile" environment for women (lack of female referents to look up to, lack of other female colleagues, etc.)

She has to be an Astrud Gilberto fan! Great phrasing and really fine voice plus being able to play the trumpet. I simply hope these young people continue to produce this kind of beautiful music in the future. THANKS JOAN!!!
I usually dont care for jazz, this soft jazz and this young Womans voice is seductive. One could listen all day. The young musicians and her trumpet playing is such a pleasure to listen to. I dont understand her, French, Spanish, it doesnt matter shes awesome.
With young musicians like this - it fills me with joy and confidence that jazz is not dead, and not going to die any time soon. You are wonderful, guys and girls!
I love that kind of music, these guys continue the Jazz Samba/Bossa Nova music of Stan Getz/Joao & Astrud Gilberto - Thank you so much for that wonderful music!
To be honest, I've always been a heavy metal kinda guy when it came to music, jazz has never really been my thing. But I gotta say, I turned this on while taking a walk and it completely changed my whole perspective on the genre, I discovered an entire separate world of great music that I was completely overlooking for so long. Some absolute gems here, thanks a million.

I think I first hear this young lady when she was about 7 years old and even then you could tell she had something special and she has simply improved year on year even better than a good wine and she gas decades more to give. Thank you thank you thank you ! God gave you a gift and you share it every day....and as for that old bloke ‘Scotty’ ..... fell in love with your tone and your talent when I heard you with Mr. Bennett....wow! And then you add the total talent all round ......heaven ! Cheers
Is it my impression, or our Brazilian Portuguese sounds really this beautiful? I saw her sing some years before, and it is amazing how she now dominates our sounds, even the super difficult ones, like "coração". Amazing.
my new favorite singer, and her trumpet playing is stellar. I applaud you Joan for nurturing these incredible musicians. I am addicted to your channel!!
Scott Hamliton the legend is there. I always feel safe when I see Alba Armengou in the session. Joan Chamorro and drum are smooth. Carla Motis expressionless face is cool. Alba Esteban good baritone solo. Joan Mar Sauqué trumpet with mute is a thumb-up. Recording quality is second to none.
Laploy Vanich, well said. The bari sax is an under appreciated instrument that is played poorly by too many. It is always a pleasure to hear it in the skillful hands of Alba Esteban.
Joan Mar Saugue and bot Albas (Armengou and Esteban) so good and so young. Can't wait to hear them 10 years from now. What a priviledge playing along with SCOTT HAMILTON.
Alba Armengou is simply one of the best singers out there, especially in this repertoire. Lovely solo by Joan Mar Sauqué on the muted trumpet! Chamorro's facial expression says it all. I don't know if the quote from the old song "Whispering" was intended, but what a delightful surprise....
WOW!!! Bom Trabalho!
As of my present vote, this is the best version of this song from SAJB EVER!!! Listen to Jan Domenech!! - he's behind anything that goes in this fabulous video - behind the marvellous and very personal voice of Alba, her fine trumpet play, and behind the incredible solos of Alba Esteban, Scott and Joan Mar... Carla is barely audible at times but unmissible through the song... LOVE IT!!!!
Carla is like Freddie Green playing with Basie. You don't hear what the guitar is adding but the band looses something when she stops or is not playing!
Alba and Alba are deserving of star recognitions. Then again the whole ensemble just produced a musical number worthy of praise. Love the beat and sound! Well done. Gracias.
This is really beautiful. Alba's charming voice and trumpet, Scott's saxo, the whole interplay between the performers - to me this is the best performance of this song on RUclips.
This is by far some of the most magnificent music that’s ever been written and thank God young people realize and still it’s timeless thank you for preserving this wonderful sound flawlessly
Wow that was amazing. Alba A is my favourite singer in your amazing band. She has so much talent. Also her trumpet is clear and true. It shows that hard work pays off. Beautiful Bari subtones by Alba E and to complete that beautiful performance a fantastic subtone by Scott for which makes him my favourite sax player. Thank you for taking the time to post these pieces 👏👏🎷
@Roberto Xiximanganes thank you but when did I mention jazz in my comment. Instead of comments like this please just enjoy the unbelievable talent. Thank you
We have literally played this 1,000 times as it’s just a thing of pure beauty. This Renaissance of jazz in Spain under Maestro Chamorro is one of the best things in music right now. The great American art form that is barely practiced in its native country finds its footing in Spain. Wow..just wow. Tremendous work!!!!!!!
I'd like to point out that there's not only American jazz in that since there's a huge contribution of Brazilian music in the arrangements, in her performance and the song itself is Brazilian! American jazz and Bossa Nova often collaborate to wonderful effects, buy they also exist separately in their own realms of glory 🤗
Beautiful people, beautiful music, superb quality performance and recording - the full package. The sensitivity to the music is wonderful, the singing and trumpet playing of Alba is just so "there" it is just mesmerisingly good. Restored my faith in jazz as an art form.

Who believed
In love, in the smile, in the flower
Thus dreamed, dreamed
And lost peace
Love, the smile, and the flower
They transformed too quickly
Who, in the heart
Sheltered the sadness of seeing all of this lose itself
And, in loneliness
Sought a road and followed it,
Already faithless in a happy day
Who cried, cried
And cried to the point that all of their tears dried up
Who returned afterwards
To love, to the smile and to the flower
Thus found everything
And the selfsame suffering
Revealed the road of love
And the sadness ended

Quem acreditou
No amor, no sorriso, na flor
Então sonhou, sonhou
E perdeu a paz
O amor, o sorriso e a flor
Se transformam depressa demais
Quem, no coração
Abrigou a tristeza de ver
Tudo isto se perder
E, na solidão
Procurou um caminho e seguiu
Já descrente de um dia feliz
Quem chorou, chorou
E tanto que seu pranto já secou
Quem depois voltou
Ao amor, ao sorriso e à flor
Então tudo encontrou
Pois a própria dor
Revelou o caminho do amor
E a tristeza acabou

hi from Korea, I searched for Chet baker and I found it!! I dig this vids soooooo much. plz keep beautiful working in 2021🤩
Wonderful singing with such emotion. The players are also so good. Thank you ,I really enjoyed this music.
Scott's solo is something else. A pure joy! He is definitely a big master of his instrument.
Greetings from Russia!
Wonderful group of musicians. Alba's voice is exquisite.
Some absolute gems here, thanks a million.
this is bossa nova
That's like only eating Big Macs.
It’s more than just Bossa Nova. It’s the entire Brazilian songbook! Enjoy!
@RB P Same here!.. Not sure if you've checked out any of This gal's stuff, but her voice is So Silky Smooth!.. Pretty incredible stuff!..

Love,Love, Love, Love That Baritone Saxophone Solo And The Tenor Saxophone Solo Too! All of these Musicians Are Great! Greetings From Chicago, IL USA! :)
Amazing.
She has a kind of a strong accent sometimes but she is very good.
my new favorite singer, and her trumpet playing is stellar.
@@hollis2557 It is a wonderful solo instrument!
Scott Hamilton one of the giants.
As soon as Hamilton started to play... Jesus christ that man has a suave tone!
Monta grupos sensacionais!
Excelente Alba!!
Grupo de primeira!!!👍👍👏👏👏👏
keep on making beautiful music. From the Philippines.
👋 Amber, from England, wonderful aren't they🤗
Bom Trabalho!
LOVE IT!!!!
Yup, love that piano. Jan Domenech plays a beautiful and minimalist solo on another of Alba's songs in this series. Look for the song Shiny Stockings.
Carla is like Freddie Green playing with Basie. You don't hear what the guitar is adding but the band looses something when she stops or is not playing!
@@alanlevin167 I love her most when she leaves Freddie and picks these latin chords and rhythms, like here!
O Brasil não sabe o quão bossa nova é gigante.
Alba and Alba are deserving of star recognitions. Then again the whole ensemble just produced a musical number worthy of praise. Love the beat and sound! Well done. Gracias.
ONLY BRASIL CAN PRODUCE SUCH SUPERB SOUNDS AS THESE. WONDERFUL.
Mención especial a la saxo barítono!! Gran solo y sentimiento
Totalmente...muy stan getz
I guess this is what it feels like to be inside a cloud just as the sun rises and begins to warm your skin. I would love to play in a band like this.
This is really beautiful. Alba's charming voice and trumpet, Scott's saxo, the whole interplay between the performers - to me this is the best performance of this song on RUclips.
Barcelona - a mine of musical diamonds. Chief Foreman: Joan Chamorro. Joan, hats off! Greetings from Poland
Joan you and your students have inspired me to work much harder. I hope one day I get the opportunity to meet your group.
I Just Love when Alba sings in portuguese 💕💕
This is by far some of the most magnificent music that’s ever been written and thank God young people realize and still it’s timeless thank you for preserving this wonderful sound flawlessly
Hats off to the lovely and talented vocalist!
Mr. Chamorro, you present us so many talented musicians! We can see you enjoy every moment. So do I. And that Brazilian music is fantastic 👍🎶
I could listen to Alba all day. Perfect pitch and phrasing. A pure delight. ❤️
Thank you
Need to hear more Alba Esteban!
Great Tenor by Scott
so soulful.
@@joaopauloduartedasilva4101 I’d take Brazilian jazz over straight ahead any day!
Beautiful people, beautiful music, superb quality performance and recording - the full package. The sensitivity to the music is wonderful, the singing and trumpet playing of Alba is just so "there" it is just mesmerisingly good. Restored my faith in jazz as an art form.
I love Alba's baritone solos.
Very impessed
sometimes it's wonderful to hear something that's floating not exploding. Love it
Beautiful and so TALENTED .!!!!
And VERY VERY ROMANTIC
Viva BOSSA NOVA . Brazilian Music
