Thank you for sharing your adventures in sewing. I have purchased fleece blankets from my local thrift store. Variety of textures. This includes fleece pillowcases that require an absorbent layer and a bit of sewing. Also, our local library has a sewing studio and patrons can use the sewing machines for 2 hours each day for free. Lots of helpful and creative people around who are willing to help. Again, thank you for encouraging me to make my own fleece for my piggies. Love from Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

Great job, Scotty! You got so much better throughout the video too! Now I want to learn to sew. See what you do? I guess that's the point! You inspire your viewers to challenge themselves 🤗
Hi Scotty. I’ve been sewing most of my life. My Grandma taught me when I was 11 years. So that makes it 57 years. I think you are doing a great job, for a beginner. Your guinea pigs will love and appreciate the fleece. When you are making a tunnel for them to sleep in, it’s always a good idea to make extra tinkle pads, for inside. And don’t kid yourself, during the night, they will back up, hang their little butts out of the tunnel , poop and crawl back in and go to sleep. By morning, you should have a great little pile of beans. Although, on occasion, you will find a bean or two inside their tunnels. Keep up the good work. You can make pads to go under their water bottles to catch those occasional drips. If you make long, thinner pads, use a ruler or even a yardstick to assist in turning the pads inside out. I’ve found wooden spoons to also use. Since fleece and the batting does ravel, just pin the end together and stitch a couple of rows of stitching, to secure the end together. Make sure, when you start sewing to stitch forward about 1/2 inch, then hold the reverse button and stitch backwards to secure the seam end together. When you get to the end of your seam, slowly sew to the end and hit that reverse button again, and while holding the reverse button in, sew about 1/2 inch backwards, then release the button and sew forward to the end. Then lift up your presser foot up and clip the threads. Good luck. You will get better as time goes on. There is a RUclips listing called GuineaPiggiesDesigns. She has tutorials on how to sew all kinds of things, step by step. You’ll be a Pro in no time. Happy Stitching, Nancy 😇🥰🐹💗💕 p.s.- please check your tutorial on how to build a C & C cage. I have some questions about coroplast.

Good on you mate 👍 tailors were traditionally men. I like sewing but I also love wood work and I’m pretty handy around the house. Gaining confidence with a power drill has been a game changer. Flat pack furniture is a specialty of mine.
Nails is looking sooo good you wouldn’t think 🤔 he is the same piggy. I like home 🏠 maintenance fixing things working with tools, also looking after cattle. It is changing here inAustralia, women are going into many things that were considered the male domain, not so much the other way. Cooking everyone is into.
Yay!! Scott the piggies will love the soft pads and they won't judge for perfection just comfort. I have all the supplies but we just moved (buried in boxes) but I will get them done so much easier than trying to make a flat surface with two layers that are too wide and two long( towels and fleece) I change and clean their cage every day. Thanks for sharing.
I love that you showed all of the trials you made. It's so important for people to see what sewing is really like. It's all fun and games until the bobbin runs out! 😆 Good job!
Well done, Scott! I think it's good for everyone to know basics about anything you might need to fix or make. Men lose buttons, too! Car tires don't NOT go flat just because it's a woman's car! I can do quite a bit of construction (even used to co-own a construction company), and was an oil change mechanic for a short while in my younger years. I learned to sew on a machine by making piggie fleeces. I'm not an expert, yet, but the piggies don't seem to mind a few imperfect seams. hehe
In answer to your questions, me and my husband live in the USA. He sews just fine and dandy, and I enjoy fishing. Basically we do things because we want to, f- what everyone else thinks.
I’m in the UK, and sewing I think is still generalised as a female thing. In terms of what hobbies do I as a female have which are generally considered male....I love DIY and building things. One of my favourite things to do is draw up plans for things I could build. I very rarely build any of these as they get quite elaborate and could be expensive, but I built my piggies hay tray, and I built their last cage, too. I’m the process of designing a shoe rack, too :)
Looks great Scotty I don't own a sewing machine but I was terrible at it in class I just never had the interest of it but I will ask for a sewing machine for Christmas this year and try again thanks your an inspiration Scotty! Lucky piggies ❤️
Wauw! That looks really good. I made it myself to. It saved a lot of money and it's always nice to learn something new. Love to watch your video's! Thanks Scotty! 🧵
Scotty, lol, you're HILARIOUS!!! All you have to do is watch a tutorial, there are so many to watch, and many are very easy to follow! Yes, Valerie probably has some uploaded, and I know I've watched Paiges pets, she does piggy items as well. Also, I know the cotton batting is absorbent, but if you get a U haul blanket, you'll have better results, I think anyway, or put a piece of U haul in between the batting for more absorbency. I know there are alot of different materials as absorbent layers you can use. Guinea piggy designs is a channel that has alot of different tutorials as well. Good for you!
Piggy Smalls is ADORABLE!! I love his c oloring! Scotty, I'll admit, you did a really, really good job, I'm impressed! I'm going to give it a try! I've wanted to do it for awhile, I spend way too much on fleece liners and items, lol!
Hi Scotty! I work in construction as a welder. It is a very male dominated field. At home, i do all kinds of 'women's work', though. I sew, crochet, garden(I'm pretty sure gardening is for men also) And men can be sew-ers. Taylors for men's clothing have traditionally been men and shoe makers have sewing skills, too. Sewing is a perfectly acceptable skill for men.
Hey Scotty, i can totally relate! I wanted to make my own fleece pads too because the wood chips were getting messy and I was reacting to them. I had to learn to sew using RUclips. Here's a good channel that got me started in using my sewing machine - Tock Custom. He's great at explaining even specific for your machine. I've butchered many pieces of uhaul pads and fleece to make pads. Practice makes progress and now the piggies love them. I can make them any size I want including LOTS of pee pads to throw around each corner of the cage and under space houses. You are doing great and thanks for sharing your journey!
Nice 😄 Scotty sewing tutorial for beginners. Got a singer heavy duty machine for Christmas. Thought who ask but you what to do need some pee pads now know where mine go most I need more guess time get creative 😆
Scotty ! you did amazing ,, and the piggys dont care if there a tiny mistake , and those mistakes make it unique x Funny how sewing is seen as feminine , same as knitting and crochet . i dont sew but i crochet and ib made pads for my piggys to lay on and the love them x wonderful Video Scotty , thank you for sharing x
I learned "necessary female skills" in school, knitting, crocheting, embroidery, and sewing, by hand(mostly mending holes in socks and underwear) and machine. I hated it then! Too female. I wanted to do woodworking, sawing, drilling, gluing, filing, staining, nailing, and putting screws in properly. I had to find out that this "boys' education" did not take place, but partaking in the textile arts was compulsory for girls. I went to school in the 1970s and equal opportunity was still a fledgling. Later in life I returned to the textile arts, but taught myself to crochet lace (instead of baby wear), do hardanger embroidery, knit elaborate cable patterns. These days I design my own patterns, often as I go. In my family I learned to put on wallpaper, and paint it, and lay tiles. When I bought my apartment these skills were handy. Scott, I think it doesn't matter if a woman or a man do sewing, or any kinds of textile arts. Neither does it matter if a woman or a man build furniture. In history, embroiderer was a male profession, as was weaving. The small scale personal use embroidery and weaving was done by the women, to my knowledge that is. Or part of the family income was generated by "cottage industries".
That comment was very interesting to read and your right it does not matter what women or men decide on what they want to do You sound very skill full and very creative :)
you've inspired me to give it a shot. we were looking at fleece today at the wall of mart but didnt find any uhaul blanket things. i just got my fleece flippers in from the guinea pig mart and i need to get at least one more set.
There's nothing cheesy about caring for our animals, they're totally worth it. Good job on the fleece. Haha The Amazing Antics of Piggy Smalls, where will he escape to next 🥰😋♥️ *I attempted sowing once, and ran out of patience very quickly 🤣😂
If you're doing them just for yourself (as opposed to selling them) as easily as possible and at the lowest cost, bulk fleece on both sides and a moving blankets in the middle, you can just line it up and sew the edges together without flipping things inside out. Fleece doesn't fray, so you don't necessarily have to have a hem on it. Just an idea for someone who doesn't have a sewing machine, or is in a pinch :)
Wow Scotty you did a great job. You’ve inspired me to pull out my sewing machine and get started on making pads for my boys. I have old baby fleece blankets from when my kids were little. Maybe putting some Velcro on the plastic boards would help the pads stay in place.

❤️ those liners!
gracias!
Yes, sewing is a great skill to have!! I just found your channel! Keep up the great work with your piggies!!
They Look Fantastic Scotty There Apsoulty Beautiful
Thank you mama
I love piggy small's eye patch....and great job on your sewing.
Awesome! Good job Scott! 💖
Thanks Scotty, you've taught me a lot.
"Go home" "look at what you did" oh my god. One of my piggies do that stuff too and its like you fugitive get back in your home
Looks great Scotty I don't own a sewing machine but I was terrible at it in class I just never had the interest of it but I will ask for a sewing machine for Christmas this year and try again thanks your an inspiration Scotty! Lucky piggies ❤️
You did great, the pads are super cute, and now maybe some more people won't be afraid to try
Good job Scotty.
Scotty there are alot of channels here that walk you step by step making these.
Kinda new to your channel and I'm loving it. Using cotton batting instead of u-haul padding is genius. Thank you for sharing!
Hii i love your videos thanks for your content
you're very welcome, Claudiu
@@ScottysAnimals 😁
Ooh that’s such a good idea!! My fleece liners cost soooo much!
I will definitely try making these if I find the cotton! Liners are pretty expensive so it's super Worthy!!
Piggy Smalls is ADORABLE!! I love his c oloring! Scotty, I'll admit, you did a really, really good job, I'm impressed! I'm going to give it a try! I've wanted to do it for awhile, I spend way too much on fleece liners and items, lol!
I’m so excited I’m about to get some new GPigs and make them some new fleece items! I’ve been binge watching your videos! ❤️
Tip for finding cheep fleece: check the discount rack at Joann’s, and look for fleece blankets at goodwill.
Great job on the fleece!! I can’t believe how high Piggy smalls can jump. All your piggies are so adorable!!
You are doing great and thanks for sharing your journey!
you are a trip Scotty! loved the video, thank you!
can you do a video on what to put in your care kit
on what cleaning item`s to use
Cleaning for piggies or cages or fleece?
Never took sewing classes in school. I just learned it on my own. Love learning new skills!!! But great job Scott! Its takes lots and lots practice! 🙂
Nice 😄 Scotty sewing tutorial for beginners. Got a singer heavy duty machine for Christmas. Thought who ask but you what to do need some pee pads now know where mine go most I need more guess time get creative 😆
I am the hand sewer in our family and my husband is the machine sewer! We make a good couple.
I literally just bought a sewing machine so I could make bedding for my piggies!
Im impressed, im gonna have to have a go now, kisses to all piggies xx
Scotty ! you did amazing ,, and the piggys dont care if there a tiny mistake , and those mistakes make it unique x Funny how sewing is seen as feminine , same as knitting and crochet . i dont sew but i crochet and ib made pads for my piggys to lay on and the love them x wonderful Video Scotty , thank you for sharing x
That is so clever ! Thank you for the tips! Additionally, omg your piige is so cute I am in love
* Piggie
Plz respond I would love to know if I could get a respond from u I’m a true fan
I am sure he will!!
That comment was very interesting to read and your right it does not matter what women or men decide on what they want to do
You sound very skill full and very creative :)
you've inspired me to give it a shot. we were looking at fleece today at the wall of mart but didnt find any uhaul blanket things. i just got my fleece flippers in from the guinea pig mart and i need to get at least one more set.
Cotton batting for the inside
@@ScottysAnimals ill look for that next time :D thanks
There's nothing cheesy about caring for our animals, they're totally worth it. Good job on the fleece. Haha The Amazing Antics of Piggy Smalls, where will he escape to next 🥰😋♥️
*I attempted sowing once, and ran out of patience very quickly 🤣😂
If you're doing them just for yourself (as opposed to selling them) as easily as possible and at the lowest cost, bulk fleece on both sides and a moving blankets in the middle, you can just line it up and sew the edges together without flipping things inside out. Fleece doesn't fray, so you don't necessarily have to have a hem on it.
Just an idea for someone who doesn't have a sewing machine, or is in a pinch :)
It takes skill and patience to sew. It does not take being a women. Good job once again Scotty
He was like come at me bruh
I learned it in 7th grade home ec, and Im glad I did.
Wow Scotty you did a great job. You’ve inspired me to pull out my sewing machine and get started on making pads for my boys. I have old baby fleece blankets from when my kids were little.
Maybe putting some Velcro on the plastic boards would help the pads stay in place.
Hi Scotty, there are a lot of tutorials on RUclips to show you how to sew guinea pig bedding. That's how I learnt to make them. That might help you in your sewing journey 😊
My sister made all mine! She might enjoy seeing your struggles. She had a lot of struggles 😂😂😂
Cool my dad made a pillow in school to. PS everything that is in the comments isn't from Shane its from Olivia his daughter.
I can’t use a sewing machine. I tried and I just decided not for me. But you did great. Love all the Vlog . Keep it up:)
Thank for making this video and spreading awareness that men can sew too! I made a reaction video to yours on my channel if you needed some tips and tricks to make better pads or liners if you do continue your sewing journey. But great job!
