Fun fact: Dorothy Short, the lead actress who played Mary - the one who gets shot dead - and Dave O'Brien - the guy who plays Ralph, the drug addict - were actually MARRIED in real life for around 18 years, and had 2 children together. As one of Reefer Madness’ own performers, Thelma White (who played the vampy Mae, whose apartment is the setting for wild reefer parties) affirmed, exploitation filmmakers did their utmost to produce films that would provoke a visceral response in audiences. “The director wanted us to ‘hoke’ it up. He wanted us to show the ‘madness.’ ” She remarked: “I’m ashamed to say that it’s the only one of my films that’s become a classic.”
All this is to say that the makers of Reefer Madness (a title the movie was never known as until the 70s) knew what they were making was bullshit but being the pranksters and charlatans they were they did it anyway because the only goal of the movie was to make money.
The above quote is taken from the book Forbiden Gruit: The Golden Age of the Exploitation Film which is a really good read to find out more about this genre in the 30s and includes a number of things about Reefer Madness and it's distributor Dwain Esper

Now I like those kale chips. There's only the one brand; Rhythm, I assume those are the ones Mark tried. I have a dairy allergy, so I think the vegan cool ranch flavor is actually pretty good. I kept a bag of them in the passenger's seat the year I drove from PA to CA to move.
That being said, it's not like I can't understand why someone wouldn't like them. They're really just passable if you want something greener and healthier than traditional corn/potato chips, but don't have time to cook. It's got a weird aftertaste, except the weird aftertaste is pretty much its entire flavor. My real complaint is with the texture. If you're driving, you don't want to get the powdered blend of garlic yeast and sunflower oil all over the steering wheel. And because they're just dried leaves they break REALLY easily. The average potato chip bag will be reduced to crumbs when about 1/12 of the chips are left. With kale chips, all the big, grabable pieces have shattered by the time half the bag is gone. Again, the only time I would actually want these is as a snack on the go, so needing a spoon is a big flaw. It's more of a weird craving I get occasionally because the food had time to grow on me, rather than anything I'd recommend to someone who doesn't already shop at Trader Joe's.

"Violent laughter" is probably the worst form of laughter. "Somnolent laughter" and "Indifferent laughter" are pretty evil, but "violent laughter" is probably the worst of the three. That time I smoked Mary-Joanna for about ten years did actually cause incurable insanity in me, I unsuccessfully held down a job and raised a family during that time because of my drug induced madness. I also drank alcohol occasionally and still managed to get to work and think rationally! What a heel! How the hell did that happen?! Crazy! Now that I'm free from that horror I'm just a swell guy, and my incurable marihuana insanity has been cured! Well, I suppose I'll be paying my taxes more than I did already and agreeing with everything the government tells me I should now. So long folks, and have a great day!

      Alcohol is most dangerous drug.
Are we really arguing about that?

In 2016, 10,497 people died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes, accounting for 28% of all traffic-related deaths in the United States.
Drugs other than alcohol (legal and illegal) are involved in about 16% of motor vehicle crashes.

For the Record, "Reefer Madness: The Musical" is not just a good adaptation of this movie, I would say it's one of the best adaptations of anything of all time. Beat for beat, it recreates many iconic scenes from the original 1930's film, all while writing more compelling versions of each character AND making pointed criticisms of society at the time. It's great as a parody, as a stand-alone musical, and as a bleak meditation on how ignorance and racism can overpower all common sense. Like seriously guys, the movie's ending is depressing as shit. Even Cabaret ends with Sally at the train station being like "Dear god, what has Germany become?!" Reefer Madness, nobody is even present to object to the fact that they're literally burning books. Every character who was a voice of reason within the narrative, by the ending is either intimidated into silence, or dead! And then we see one unnamed black family notice every white person in town parading down the street with torches, and without a single word, the dad gives a look like "Today is really not my day. Bonnie, get the kids inside!"
