    Hi, great video, l had the same error message ' cannot migrate to ext sd card' after following your video.
    I solved it by doing a factory reset of Google Chrome tv, reinstalled my account, then remade the changes in your video and Voila l can now move apps to my external storage, go into settings, Apps, click See all apps, click across to the apps and open an app, scroll down to storage used, click on storage used, it will show the external storage to move to.
    Hope this helps someone 🤞

    Thanks, this video was helpful but I too ended up with Can't Migrate error. By accident watching yet another video after formatting and to the part to chose Migrate now or later the author chose later ,, oh noooooo. but a moment later he did the Later. Do everything in this video first. So give this a try as it worked for me. Choose Settings/ Apps click on just to highlight an App you want to migrate over. now look on the right side column, your are looking for "Storage used" and there it will say Internal storage or after it will say your USB drive. Now click to the right column, scroll down to the storage used and click on that Now you will have a choice , Internal Shared Storage or what ever your USB Drive is called......select the USB Drive and Wala, . So one app at a time but it works.

      This is becoming an issue with Google. Pull the USB out when no power is on the unit. Plug back in , turn on power. If it recognizes it then you will be forced to format it. If not try when the power is on. If it still doesn't recognize it, try another USB drive. If that fails, you will be like a million other users recently and will be forced not to have one. Why? Google's new updates are ruining the experience of many people.

    I have been running into the same issue many others have of not being able to migrate the data and also I too noticed the slow speeds when loading apps on micro sd and 2.0 flash drives. Would you happen to know which flash drives generations it will recognize I found a tutorial where someone had used a 256GB flash drive but it was 3.0 I threw my 128GB 3.1 Samsung flash drive and it just recognized it but wouldn't let me format it. Would you happen to know if 3.0 is the max capability it has or will it recognize 3.1 or even 3.2 so long as it's maybe a different brand or size?.
    EDIT: Nevermind I actually somehow got my 128GB to work I don't know what the issue was.

      @@KimRozell Yeah i learned the hard way old storage just isn't up to par. I tried using an approximately 20 year old SD card and roughly 10 year old microSD card. Both were unsurprisingly slow. I ran into the same issue with a 32GB flash drive that may very likely be 1.0 as it was 10x slower than either of the SD cards. Thankfully i got the 3.1 Samsung usb drive working and it's all running smoothly.

    • @KimRozell
      @KimRozell  Год назад +1

      Yes, on the side of the hub is a USB C port for the power., From the hub the power to the Chromecast is how it gets it's power.. the Chromecast is then plugged into the TV. I ordered a heavier duty power supply to power them both. The standard power supply will burn out in ßhort order. So order the biggest one you can buy. Power supply to the hub, power from the hub to the Chromecast, from the Chromecast to the TV. If it is not working try another power supply...

    • @sonofdirt
      @sonofdirt Год назад +1

      Google TV needs about 5 watts, my USB hub is rated @ 15 watts, so I needed minimum 20 watts charger. I got a 45 watt USB-C charger on Amazon & it works great. You just need to pay attention to the wattage requirements of your hub & add extra wattage to power the devices you plan to plug into it. 45 watt charger is pretty good I got a tiny one it's Ugreen brand.

    Any more advice , I still have not had any success adding storage via usb 3.0 flash drive or micro Sd card . I have developer options enabled and selected force install apps onto the external drive. The chromecast recognizes the usb storage I selected erase and format as external storage something I wondered if second message poup confirming I that I want to format . Yes , and after a few moments it's all I formatted so it then I select , migrate data to this storage and immediately a message pops up that says can not mergedata to the usb drive. Am I missing something? Although there was no other option, I thought the flash drives were formatted as and became part of the internal storage. Thru searching I have noticed I'm not the only guy to have this issue but at the same time I have not read a post about how to resolve the issue

      Maybe this is too late of a reply, as I’m just coming across this video. I had the same issue on my Sony Google TV. I was not able to migrate the apps as it was trying to migrate system apps, which was seemingly not allowed. However, after I had a formatted USB drive and the developer option enabled with the forced install on, if you then delete an app that is currently installed on the internal storage and then reinstall it, it will install on the USB drive.

      I have discovered that not all "C" hubs will allow it to migrate. Just in the last 2 updates has this become an issue. I found that if you change brands of flash drives, and go smaller, say 16gig or 32 gig sometimes will bypass this issue. Don't know what they did in the updates but, I too am having issues with some flash drives. When I change out my "C" hub of a different brand, it refuses to work. So far my "HiEar Cool" brand works like a charm with almost everything.

    • @KimRozell
      @KimRozell  Год назад

      Once you go down to about, click seven times, and invoke developer mode, this should allow you to easily do so. I do not have an explanation as why this failed for you. I have done a number of Chromecast with Google TV setups, without any difficulty whatsoever. I do know that Chromecast is changing settings every time they do a software update. I have noticed that you can no longer flush the cash on all programs but have to do it individually now. It may be that Chromecast has done something with our software update that I am not yet aware of. Will check into it and if I find anything I will get back to you. Try a 32 or 16 gig and see if that works for you. This method has worked for the last 6 Chromecast I have set up for other people.

    • @KimRozell
      @KimRozell  Год назад

      Did you remember to format the USB stick using Chromecast? You have to format it using the system's format. Then you can move all of the channels to the stick.

    • @KimRozell

      Once you have developer privileges by pressings the "about" 7 times, then when you are in developer mode you should be able to format the card. Chromecast has done 2 updates that have caused many of the developer options to no longer function. It is depressing sometimes.
