- In this series we will be documenting the construction of our new OO gauge exhibition layout, based in 1970’s South Yorkshire just off the Woodhead Route, with a mix of BR diesel and electric locos serving an imaginary steelworks, called ‘A Dreary Tuesday…. In the Dearne Valley’
Part 3 - the first of 2 videos looking at the fiddle yard, laying the track and wiring up the track.

I’ve been considering doing this with frogs and found you talking through in detail really helpful. Thanks
does it get any better then this , your imput which is in lay mans terms will encourage young and old alike to take up yhe hobby as we all know there aew many good vids which contain content on dcc which is mind blowing.
well done you
Thanks Gary, fingers crossed it inspires others! that’s what makes it worth spending hours putting videos together 👍
Hi Chris, just come across your site, just been watching your first part of your point/track laying video, actually very concise and I’am at the point, pardon the pun! to start laying the points, only just bit unsure in that no mention of installing plastic insulations at the ‘V’ are they not required? Just subscribed, Eddie.🤓
Hey Eddie, I didn’t use plastic rail joiners, and just left a gap - can’t remember why now to be honest! You need a break of some nature behind the V, so either plastic rail joiners or a cut in the rail do the job 👍
@@otcmmodelling cheers Chris for your reply. 🤓
Hi Chris. Please invest in a microphone (or turn it on); I could hardly hear a work and I had the volume turned right up! (Anyone else hard of hearing?)
Great set of videos! Good to see stuff like marking out and the wiring bus etc. I will really use these on my next layout, I like the use of sleeper strip, it's a lot easier and neater than my method of trying to remove sections of insulation from the BUS wire.
Will you run any passenger stock other than the DMU mentioned? I was thinking that in the 70's there must have been the odd football special that would have used the route, good excuse for scruffy MK1 stock and out of region loco.
Thanks! This will be all freight, I don’t really have an interest in passenger stock so would rather the space in the fiddle yard is taken up with wagons!!
Are you related to the dude from Everard Juntion?
Nope, just have a voice that sounds vaguely the same!
