I was thrown a diapers and dinners party before I had my first. Everyone brought a small pack of different size diapers and Resturant gift cards. It was the best !! I always do it for anyone I know having a baby now.
That's a great idea!!!
i was in hospital 3 months before i had my first i had some secondhand cloth nappies but he was less than 5 pounds at 1 month overdue so i gave my mum money to buy a pack of tiny nappies a week when we finally got home under my stairs cupboard was filled with nappies so all i had to do was fucus on breastfeeding and enjoying my newborn
That's adorable lol ♥
GREAT IDEA
Good idea!!
The way Becky bounces from a letdown is commendable.♥
Becky, when I'm taking food to an event I buy inexpensive serving dishes at the dollar store so I don't have to worry about bringing it home.
I'd go with disposable ones lol.
Same! Then there’s no loss if it breaks or you leave it behind because there was still food on it.
It may be easier, but sometimes choosing less disposable options is much better environmentally. Just a thought.
Oh girl! I learned, after breaking and loss of many "precious" serving trays, that if it's leaving my house it will be on a "cute" throw away. It was a lesson long coming.....people remember the food on the tray way more than the tray it's on. 😉
Preach….that’s me too.
Your 'Day in Life of Becky Videos' are soo relatable and motivating to get me moving and get stuff done 🙌 ❤️.
Happiest day for me is hanging out with Becky. I live in Australia and I find a day in the life of someone so down to earth with Nurturer heart and soul that lives in a different country such a relaxing way to explore with BECKY. Love the content you put into sharing with us. 🌻🐝🥬🥕
Wooohoooo we are blessed with another "Becky's " video!! I'm posting even before I watch video lol
Seriously the most wholesome channel I follow, started for the gardening, but it really adds BALANCE to what I consume. All good vibes💞
Homemade Samoa Cookies
Ingredients:
2 sticks unsalted butter (1 cup) at room temperature
½ cup sugar
2 cups all purpose flour
¼ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons milk
½ teaspoon almond extract,
½ teaspoon pure vanilla
Coconut Topping
3 cups shredded sweetened coconut
20 ounces store bought caramel
4 tablespoons milk
12 ounces dark chocolate
INSTRUCTIONS
Making the cookies
~Preheat the oven to 350° F
~In the bowl of a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy
~In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt. ~Slowly add the flour mixture to the creamed butter, mixing between each addition and being sure to scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed.
~Add the milk and vanilla and blend together to combine.
~Once combined, remove dough from mixer and separate dough in half. ~Press each half into a disk and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for about an hour.
~Once the dough has chilled, roll out each disk on a lightly floured surface until it is about ⅛" thick. Cut out as many cookies as possible with a doughnut cutter or use two cookie cutters of different sizes to get the hole in the middle. Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
~Bake the cookies for 10 - 15 minutes until they are pale golden brown. ~Transfer cookies onto a wire rack to cool.
Coconut topping:
~Spread the coconut onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. ~Bake the coconut for 10 - 15 minutes in a 350° oven until toasted. Stir frequently to make sure the coconut does not burn.
~Once done, remove from the oven to cool.
~Melt the caramels and milk in a double boiler over medium-low heat. Stir until fully melted. Remove from heat and combine ½ of the melted caramel with the toasted coconut in a large bowl. Stir until mixed.
~Use the remaining caramel to spread a thin layer onto the cookies. You will want to move quickly through this step so the caramel does not cool. ~Use your hands, and press the coconut mixture onto the caramel. (And remember you are looking for the perfect ratio of cookie to toppings, so don't overdo it with the caramel and coconut.)
~Let the cookie cool.
~Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler. Once melted dip the bottom of the cookie into the chocolate and place them on a wax paper lined baking sheet. Use a piping bag (if you don’t have one, a ziploc bag will work with a corner cut off) to drizzle the remaining chocolate on the top of the cookies.
~Let the cookies sit until the chocolate hardens.
Thank you!
I have to say, this video was particularly fun for me because throughout the entire thing I kept saying, “oh, I did that too” or, I thought, “man we were on the same track there”. I recently purchased the same vermiculite at Lowe’s, I don’t have a World Market close to me anymore but I’ve shopped there many times, motivated by the fun gift options I’d find. Being organized is so helpful when you’re a busy person and I am a total write it down in a planner kind of girl! I do put appts in my phone to start with but I like to see it on paper. The planner I like has the month at a glance but then followed by the weeks where I’m able to write more lists etc. Today I ran errands and picked up the plastic photo storage box for my seeds. I finished filling my shelf with potted seeds last night and I have no more lights so the rest I will have to plant directly into the garden. I want to get the seeds put away now so it’s not an issue down the road plus it will help be stay ready for late season planting as well. The cost of cards is outrageous and I’m a big fan of the Dollar Tree for cards but I also have quite a stash of blank note cards too! So all of that to say I loved running errands with you today 🤣, we actually were thinking along the same lines the whole trip 😉. Thank you for sharing with us, I hope the baby shower went well and as always, we look forward to your next video.
After listening to the news, having to confront personal demons and trying to get homeschool stuff done this is such a nice way to end my day
So happy you uploaded. I'm pretty addicted to your channel now. I'm working towards starting my own indoor garden. Then when my bf and I move into a bigger space I will expand that. Thank you for showing us how you garden. You may not be a professional but you are a good teacher for what you do.
The versions in the stores by Keebler cookies are the same as GS, they are the actual bakers of the GS cookies....learned that from the district manager of Keebler....so excited to see how you recreate them!!!!!!
I came here to say the same thing! I love the grasshopper and coconut dreams produced by Keebler and get them year round.
I do not to clarify, when GS are selling we buy several different boxes.....I was a GS all the way through high school and will always support them.
@@tamthaluehrs I still buy during GS season. I have several nieces that are GS and I support them. However, when they're gone I move to Keebler.
I used to have a picture hanging on the wall of a small child sitting on the toilet. Under the picture were the words: No Job is Done Until the Paper Work is Done. It made me smile and held me accountable with that friendly reminder set near where I kept my purse. I like getting organized better than doing organization. Feels like I'm getting it all right when I set up, then that's it until next time I need to get organized, throw out the unused stuff and start again. Good Luck!
You talking about blank cards brought back a memory of my grandmother; she used to keep a huge box of blank cards with so many different patterns. I remember she used to buy holiday-themed cards the week after holidays when they went on sale to save even more money. I had completely forgotten about this, and I will definitely start doing this myself.
Target donates all that stuff for a tax write off! They do that here in Colorado too. I love thrifting. Thanks for taking us along
Becky it's always a joy watch your videos. Love from Argentina
Your Goodwill looks so nice. My Goodwill looks like a hot mess
Dear Becky! I have a prepared freezer meal in the fridge now. I have felt super inspired by you and this is our own variant of honey-garlic chicken. It was super-convenient to just pull it from the freezer and throw it in the pan the next day! I only cooked some rice on the side, so that means that my meal prep for the day was about 10 minutes! I was so happy that I could immediately go back to work, just checking the chicken occasionally,, such a relief. Will do this again for sure. I still have one batch of chicken in the freezer. We have a very small freezer, but I think that if I only get 2-3 meals in the freezer in the weekend for the week, that will make such a huge difference to our quality of life and time management in general. Thank you for being here for us! You are such an inspiration and an energetic, kind, fun person.
I love Old Time Pottery for serving platters! They have sale/clearance items all the time. I scored on white platters during this past holiday season
Your farmers almanac could give you a planting guide when to start seedlings. I think you are right on track. 💛🌱
That voice overlay saying what the scents were made me think I had accidentally started a second video on another tab. It was disconcerting. Otherwise, love your videos!
I create cards on my computer. You can buy blank cards for printing. That way the cards is totally customized for the person and occasion
I agree with the plain note card for any occasion. I would rather spend more on the gift than put it all into a card. Those are really pretty too!
I enjoy your videos so much, Becky! And I love how you always say “hanging out with me”. That’s totally what it feels like 😊
Yay! Love that :)
Or...research winter sowing. This is how I'm starting all my seeds. Last season was my first growing any crops and from seed. Zone 5b, tomatoes were fantastic!
Totally correct with the cards- I have been doing it for years. I do splurge on the Hallmark blank notecards. Also ask for the extra gold stickers when you purchase the cards- then fold them over and place in the card box.
Decades ago, I found that getting dishes, serving platters, my Pyrex, cookie baking trays, the stainless bowls specially hunted for and purchased to nicely nest, and serving spoons back from food taking events was difficult to impossible. So, I began buying at Goodwill and thrift stores; ideally on clearance or a great price. And we did sometimes buy ahead in anticipation of a specific event.
I did that back about 40 years ago out of necessity of being so broke and poor with young girls, but fast forward today Becky's Channel and a few other channels on prepping and freezing, I should own stock in Goodwill with all the Pyrex I buy and Bake pans
Snake plants are great indoor plants that are pretty fail proof. They also help clean the air in your home! You only have to water them every week or two. At Lowe’s I think they sell them as plants of steel lol. Also I think there is a crescent roll shortage. They are almost always sold out whenever I go to the store. Can’t wait to see your garden this year!
I have a baby snake plant and lots of succulents, can’t fail lol, they keep having babies though and I’m having to gift them to family and friends x
The label on my snake plant actually says it thrives on neglect 👍
Absolutely! Had to learn that from my part Chinese grandmother!
@@Mama-tea haha I have the same problem! I have them in almost every room now and I've started giving them away.
I live is dry Colorado and I water my snake plant once a month.
My daughter and I love your videos. She asks daily if you have posted! This video was extra special for her as she is a Daisy Girl Scout. She asked that I reach out and thank you for supporting Girl Scouts with your cookie purchases (I'm looking forward to the recipes🤭). Thank you for being you! Can't wait for the next video!
Wow Thank you! My husband came home with 6 boxes today!!!
I'm literally just on a plane, I'll have to watch this when I arrive! Super excites though
I hate shopping, but going along with you was very entertaining. Love your thought processing out loud! I hope your organization tools really help you free up your brain!
OMG GIRL!! I AM STARTING A GARDEN THIS YEAR AND YOU WERE A HUGE INFLUENCE TO THAT DECISION! I have always wanted lots of property but I was nervous to start a garden but the last few months I have been really excited for growing season. Part of the reason I was so nervous was because ALL MY HOUSE PLANTS DIE! It makes me feel so much better when you said that yours do too! That is so funny and #relateable hahaha I love you girl! ❤️
Yay! I’m so excited for you!
@@AcreHomestead ❤️❤️❤️
I like your planner system and your card idea Becky. Many years ago I bought those big rolls of wrapping paper in Gold and rolls of red ribbon and decided that these would be my signature wrappings so I always have them on hand and works with any occasion. Same with cards.
I just love your videos that take us along with what you are doing! I don't know how you do all the things you do! You have so much knowledge to share with us and I have learned a lot from you. I am old enough to be your grandmother but I can still learn from you! From Alabama 😊❤❤
Thanks so much for this reminder. Part of prayer for me is thankfulness for stuff I would otherwise take for granted. I need to work on this more because even though times are tough and we are struggling right now, we are very blessed.
I just found your channel a few weeks ago and I’ve been binge watching all day everyday . Even listening while I’m at work. I’m loving all your positive energy ❤️❤️
Thank you! Welcome!!
I love World Market, too! It is my go-to place for stocking stuffers and my kids Easter baskets! Also, you amaze me when you talk about trying to keep yourself organized because coming from this ADD mom, who can hardly remember to pick her kids up from school on time without having my alarm on my phone set, you look extremely put together and organized! I would be lost without my alarms and calendar on my phone! 😉 But that is because it has reminders that go off and tell me what I have to do next! A paper calendar can't get me somewhere on time! I'm looking forward to your next video. 🥰
I do both. Like three consecutive alarms for picking up the kids, just in case...lol. bills ect on paper calendar
I’m planting seeds for the first time and I’m disappointed already but my friend ( really experienced gardener) says I’m too impatient lol. Im only wanting begonias for my baskets, trailing begonias and ordinary ones, I have 14 baskets for my garden and 12 pots. I have 6 dogs so I don’t have grass anywhere just decking and monoblock ( little bricks layen flat) good luck with your seeds xxx
My heart broke when I saw your platter broken 💔 I've had many moments like that. The Dollar Store gift cards have become my favorite thing since college! I use them all the time! I'm a pen and paper girl so I have 2 calendars in my house but my husband makes me enter things in our phone calendar for him- paper calendar still saves the day so many times lol
You're a bright light in my life! Thanks for sharing your life with us. Keep doing what you're doing!
Your goodwill looks so organized and clean.
I stopped buying cards for baby showers and started giving children’s books as my “card”. Amazon has deals on kids books all the time, I just stock up when they’re on sale :)
My OCD is just SQUEALING right now seeing the post it notes and calendar 🤗 🤗 🤗…we’re soul sisters!!!
Your post had perfect timing. Totally feeling blah and now I’m inspired to get off my butt and get stuff done
"writing things down"...I think I'm in love.
I too do not like using my phone to keep things straight. I love my happy planner as I can customize it to me. Thanks for taking us on your journey today!
You are a sweet breath of fresh air! So humble, so thoughtful, so practical. May God bless you and family.
Becky, it took me a few tries until I found the right organization system that helped relieve my anxiety and keep me on track... Remember simple is always better. I started off with a notepad on my nightstand. I would clear my mind in it before bed and I was able to sleep better...lists are great and post it notes... don't stress over the small stuff...✌️✌️✌️ You got this!!!
Good afternoon, love watching your videos. I so wish we had a goodwill superstore here. As you were looking for a white serving tray, I seen so many dishes I would have gotten! Lol I was even talking to the screen, telling you “ oh get that one, that’s cool! “ lol
Your taste test reminded me of the shrimp chips I used to get through Amazon, and I went straight to their site and ordered some! I had forgotten all about them and I enjoyed them so much. Thank you!! 👵💓👵
I love art and Bri. They are my favorite family. But I been worried they haven’t posted in two months. Your becoming my second favorite channel because you show your mistakes lol. And shows us don’t have be perfect to make great things.
I love Art and Bri too. I've been following them for years, and sincerely miss their vlogs. I too have been worried that they have taken on too much and will cut doing vlogs. This will make me super sad. I wish Art would give a quick vlog (doesn't have to be long or edited), letting us all know they are ok and that they will be back.
You could make your own plantable cards. Then the person recieving their card could have a plant/flower surprise too.
Dollar tree and good will are my way to go store, but where I live the good will store isn't not the same as yours, what a beautiful store. I always enjoy watching your videos, thank you Becky for another wonderful video.
You are strong . Multiple times saying that you like something but you don't need it... then walking away!! I always fail at that last part. LOL Fun video!
Have you tried a happy planner? They are large enough for all your notes and plans monthly. They also have a weekly view in them with-the one I use- has three large blocks for each day. I use each one for different parts of my life. One is work/ home, one is for my kids activities and the third is meal planning and workouts. Just thought I’d share
Thin mints are my fav. I would love to be able to make them from scratch:)
Woody licious is just that huggy warmy feeling.
I'm in love with your kitchen. I wanna see a house tour. You are amazing!!!
Lovely candles. Let the LOVE FLOW
Geez Becky, I thought I was the only one that breaks glass WAY too often! I think it’s just being in a rush! Always so much to do. Oh well❤️it just wasn’t meant to be lol thanks for letting us tag along with you!
Yes! Make GS cookie dupes! My two favorites.
I do the same things with blank cards - I never feel stressed about not having an X card. Sometimes there are cute ones in the dollar spot for an even better bargain.
Ross and TJ Max are also great places for inexpensive boxed cards!
Bless your heart!!! :) You are so much fun to follow around...Happy Wednesday!
Thank you!
As far as the planner goes, I’m the same way! I love seeing the whole month at a time!
I am with you in squares. I cant stand circles. ugh. Great video. Happy Ash Wednesday. Enjoy the weekend. Cuppa tea to you. ☕
I've barely touched on your channel and realize you have sooooo many ideas! I can't wait to learn so many things from you even though I am twice or three times your age! I just love your realness, genuineness, etc etc. I would just love to hang out with you!!!
So look forward to your vlogs Becky and so happy to see your subscriber numbers going up you deserve it xx
Yeah 229 000 subs 🥰
Yes she does definitely deserve good things in her life.
It's really like having a friend chatting to you.
I hear you talking about cards and your idea is great. I am a card crafter, so all my cards are homemade and time consuming but it is a joy. Each of us have our passions. I have returned to gardening the last year as well. Even though I’m in a different zone (7) you have truly influenced my desire and enhanced my education. I am working now on planning my herb garden and a pollinator garden, as I think they will be a somewhat plant it and leave it to grow system so I can focus on my vegetables.
Your Goodwill is about a 1000 times nicer than the one in my area…I’d do more thrifting if my thrift store had that kind of selection with it all in cleanly displayed and organized!!!!
I’ve shopped many a goodwill in multiple states and I’ve never seen a single one as nice as the ones Becky has local to her. Lucky girl!
That doordash Idea was SO smart going to have to copy that now!!!! I think I will do the same for the file folder ideas and label it with the days of the week, then if there's a recipe to make that day or paperwork that needs to get done especially with kids, this is a great idea! Would love to see how your calendar is now 2 months in !
Good afternoon Becky and family love watching your videos can't wait for growing season
Hi Becky!
A WHITEBOARD IS A LIFESAVER!
I am so loving your channel & content, and I love You & your Family. I'm 64 and my own Mother & Mother-in-Law passed away long long ago, and I get so lonely for that Kinship, so I live vicariously through your videos. They warm my heart & spirit. Thank you for being genuine and generous with your time and talents with us, your RUclips Friends. God bless You, Josh, and your entire Family. P.S., I'm bv an avid Gardener myself and I thoroughly enjoy that Journey with you as well🌱🌷💝.
About seedlings....i found that they grew stronger thicker stems and better leaves (especially tomatoes) if they have a fan blowing on them. Once they get a few true leaves that is. Not a real powerful fan. Just enough to simulate a breeze. These will start better once you plant to the garden too. Just a little 4 inch fan at the end of your plant shelf.
True words- do not put yourself in tempting situations. I literally turn off HSN and QVC. I go grocery shopping for Holidays and events separate from my regular grocery too. I spend less. Thank you for the freezer meals too!
The round one is the same ones my mom used to use. 50 years ago.
Nice hanging out, Becky! I love treasure hunting at home goods…..ooooo Becky, what I do is make my own cards!!! You need card stock..:)
My houseplants used to die on me too. Then I learned that my house was too cold. I now keep it at 68 in the day and don't let it drop below 55. They are not thriving but at least they are alive now.
I'm going to blow your mind -- go to your local craft store and pick out some cute card stock with the scrapbook supplies. If you have a paper cutter, you can cut each piece into 6-8 cards, depending on size needed. No envelope needed if it's a cute patterned paper, and you can coordinate it with the tissue and ribbon. To add it to a gift, punch your folded card in the top corner of the folded side with a hole punch and tie it on with ribbon. I stopped buying cards a few years ago. I don't buy themed gift wrap now, either. I buy solid or generic patterns and I get creative with the tissue and ribbons instead. I always have something pretty I can throw together for any occasion.
Other than my mom (and me) you are the first person I've ever known to love cute little jars!
I agree with buy what you need for your seedlings to grow well! I never do and they struggle. I'm to the point that I'm telling myself my savings will come from not having to spend so much at the grocery store, plus the veggies I grow will be better quality.
I need organization as well and I’m 54 so the earlier you begin the better. Also everything looks so yummy…as always.
Awesome idea Becky 🙌💟 I Love Love Love the way you think things threw with your planning 🐣🐥🐤🥕🐇🥕🐰 I have all kinds of stuff for planning I'm going to get started right away 💖🤗 Thank You for taking the time out of your busy day to invite us into your home to show us your amazing finds ✨🙏✨
I Always give take out GC's for Baby Showers along with their gift. Someone did that for me when I had my twins. Such a great idea! Love your vids!
You really did a lot of errands!! I would be exhausted!! 😀😀
I was!
You can put dirt in a tray plant lettuce and put under grow light and you will have fresh baby greens
Your party items looked delicious. I have tried so many ways to stay organized and have found small books are best for me.
IG: Becky posted a video
Me: Closes ALL tabs except YT and zooms to watch! ☕️
Woosahhhhhhhh 🪴
OH. MY. GOD.
Your Goodwill is the most amazing Goodwill I've ever seen. Handsdown. I feel cheated! Also- I'm the exact same way about my calendar. If it's not written on paper, it's not happening!
I’m coveting the existence of a World Market…especially that little apron with the flowers 😍🥰
I can't find crescent rolls here in La. either so it must be a company issue. 🤷♀️💜 I love organization. It never use to bother me then one day it did. I fold all of my towels a certain way, organize all of my office supplies, etc. It makes it so easy when you know where to find something. Can't wait to see the video of the Girl Scout cookies, the Samoans are my fave. 💜🙋♀️
Pillsbury crescents and biscuits in a can have been impossible to find! I can find frozen biscuits, but I'm better off baking my own. I think it is a supply chain issue. It makes us remember that WE CAN BAKE OUR OWN!! 😂
The snake plant otherwise known as mother inlaws tongue is super easy! I garden and can grow the outdoor things, but like you I struggle with house plants as well. That one can be ignored and still do well. If anything, under water it and it will thrive. Ive also done well with the ZZ plant.
Thank you! I might have to try again :)
It was lovely spending time with you.
Man, I WISH we had a World Market where I'm at.... I miss going there so much! Loved the video- thanks for keeping me inspired and ready/excited to get things done :)
My mom and I absolutely love your videos!!!
For events where I need certain types of dishes, etc. I buy from my local thrift store and often re-donate them after I'm done. I remind myself that things don't need to be my favorite for me to use them for the event, and I just treat the cost as a sort of rental fee.
To make thin mints dip ritz crackers in melted Andes mints. Literally better than the Girl Scout cookies!
The best thing in the world are the Frixion erasable pens by pilot, truly amazing. I use them for my calendars and balancing the checkbook.
I love world market so much
You could have used the broken platter as a garden ornament,, place it standing up, half moon in the garden near flowers, it would have sparkled and looked pretty...... never throw decorative glass out, it can be upcycled...... just an idea ❤
