Trick for peeling fresh eggs. Bring a pot of water to a boil and put the eggs over them, in your steamer basket. Let them go for 20 minutes, put into an ice bath and peel them when they are cool enough to handle. They come out GREAT!
Preach! If the entire kitchen doesn't smell like vanilla even before you put it in the oven, you need more vanilla! Thats my mantra and in sticking to it, haha 😂
Becky, I really appreciate the authenticity you have in sharing these get-togethers with your family. And you share your traditions without prejudice, meaning you aren't ashamed or try to hide your faith but you aren't on a soap box trying to convince others to follow them as well. I really appreciate this, coming from a similar background but one that I've left for a different kind of belief. It helps all of us feel welcomed and included. Your compassion and love is so apparent in everything you do.
Love that your mom likes striking up conversations in the grocery store! So do I! Sometimes I feel awkward because folks tend to keep to themselves, but it’s amazing how many friendly, insightful people I’ve spoken with. Yay for you, Mom!
I love your family gathering videos! It reminds me of me and my Mom before she passed at only 72. My Dad passed 5 years later so treasure your family every minute but especially on holidays. Your Mom is the sweetest and your Dad and Josh are heroes for tackling those dishes! The men in my family never helped cook or clean and after watching this video I’ve decided they were slackers.😉
I used to snap my asparagus, but found too much was wasted,,,so now I just use a knife, and cut where the knife easily cuts through. Also, peeling with a vege peeler on the end pieces can yield more spears to use. Asparagus is too spendy to waste any you don’t have to.
Love to watch your Mom and you cooking together. Also that your hair is pulled up. Becky, you are such a great influencer to so many people. I've grown my own plants this year and even made pasta yesterday. Keep up the great work!
I loved watching you and your mom prepare this delicious-looking meal. Not sure if someone already commented, but let your mom know the herbs tied in string is a bouquet garni. 🤓
Bouquet garni is the term you were looking for (the bundle of herbs). I love the cakes and all of the creative ideas. I wish I had someone to cook with! I always get stuck in the kitchen alone. I didn't mind when I was younger, but now I am old with bad knees, and it's not so fun. Enjoy what you have with your mom, Becky!
Love it when you and your mom cook together. It brings back a lot of memories of me and my mom in the kitchen. Never forget those memories and time shared with one another. What a blessing! And your dinner looked amazing!
I love how you and your Mum work together in the kitchen it’s how my Mum and I work together in the kitchen . Your mum is lovely and she is so encouraging towards you I love your cooking days
It was so great for you to bring us along. It will be two years this weekend that I lost my Mom. Holidays have just not been the same. So I didn’t do anything on Easter. The tomb ideas were great! I haven’t seen many of them.
I absolutely loved the Easter cake and the empty tomb in the cross. I’m going to share with my mother. Thank you so much for sharing with us. Jesus is the reason.
Greetings from North Carolina! Becky, a plain and simple recipe for southern style deviled egg filling: Dozen hard boiled eggs- shelled- cut in half Remove yokes 1/3 to 1/2 cup extra finely chopped celery and kosher dill pickles (can use sweet relish) Teaspoon of mustard 1/3 cup mayo Salt and pepper to taste Mix well depending on how dry you like your filling you may need to add an extra spoonful of mayo. Fill egg whites and sprinkle with paprika. Chill until ready to serve. My family has fought for the last one on the plate. Enjoy!
I'm calling you two "The Intrepid Duo" from now on. You are just incredible, especially in experimenting on tape with recipes you've never before cooked. Just amazing, Ladies!!!
When I watch you and your mom and your families together I just warms my heart when my mother was alive we used to do that a lot and it brings back really good memories and I appreciate being able to watch you with your memories
Hi Becky and Susan! The Dynamic Duo!! Love spending time with you and your mom and how wonderful those memories will live on in your videos. Blessed Happy Easter to you and yours.
I add sweet relish to the deviled egg filling. Yum! I love watching you and your mom interacting. You two have a warm, loving relationship. Please tell your mom that I love her hair in a French twist.
Dynamic Duo - the Stuffed Pork Loin made me wish I were invited to the celebration so I could sample. Everything looked delicious. Loved the five layer cake. Thanks Becky and Susan.
What a fabulous meal! It was very kind of you and your mom to let us come along while you put each component together. The final spread was quite impressive! Thx. Susan
So many aspects of this meal were unique. The Easter cake decorations. Have never seen that before. The hallow cinnamon rolls looked delicious. You are your mom are to be commended for giving your family a wonderful meal.
Made this pork roll. Big win with my fam and it was SO easy!! For others reading, don’t let cutting the loin intimidate you. Also, you inspired me to cook a bunch of bacon and have it ready in the freezer, the hubs loved the idea too. Love your channel and your personality. Also, I’m really enjoying your mom being a guest to your show!
Anyone else wish they could be invited to Becky’s family dinners? I’m always left wanting to make it all. I love watching mom bake and the cake with the cross and empty tomb spoke volumes…..and it sounded delicious too!
I'm the designated Deviled eggs maker in my family. I just turned 60 and been urging a couple of other family members to carry on the family tradition in case of me passing. Like with several other recipes I do traditionally, I have my personal twists on them. I tend to change -it- up on some things often with recipes Like chili and other recipes to keep them guessing tho lol. But I do write down the recipes 😉
I loved these me and mom last couple of vlogs. You work well together I LOVED THE CAKES. I’m so appreciative of your videos. Very I formative and fun 🤩
FYI: Steam the eggs instead of boiling them in water. They peel perfectly. Almost in one shell…….. save shells, dry them out, crush them and put shells in your garden to prevent bugs eating your green…….or feed them to your chickens, if you have any.
Southern girl here. Miracle Whip, regular mustard, pickle juice, salt, pepper, and sprinkle paprika on top. Yum!! Everyone in my family makes them this way. Yes, I’m the designated deviled egg girl. 😁😁Love them!!!
Thanks for sharing your holiday Becky, I havent been home with my family since before covid times and these Easter preperation videos helped make me feel less homesick! Your mom is so sweet and full of love for you, I hope we see her some more later this year
I’m just blown away by this dinner and my favorite item on the menu was the empty tomb cake with the cross and chocolate rocks!! What an awesome tribute to Jesus!!
those bunny towels on the oven are darling! I loved seeing your family get involved. your dad's concentration on decorating with the rocks was adorable 🥰
Its interesting to me that Leah went to two different parties on two different days because here in Brazil we would get everyone together, from both families and throw a mega party, probably a barbecue. Idk if her mom leaves away but its interesting culture difference
That Dinner looks really yummy. I absolutly love how your Family works together for celebrations like Christmas or Easter. My Family used to do exactly the same until my Grandma passed away so enjoy your Familytime whenever and whereever (that word looks wrong, hope you know what I mean) you can. Lots of love from Germany to you, Josh and the rest of your Family....Nicky
For the strawberry cake, Sallys Baking Addiction has a great recipe! She uses a white cake and then reduces (like on the stovetop) strawberry purée that she adds!
Two words: drool and love. The food is so drool worthy 😂 and the love in your family is so obvious and touchable. I'm going to try those rolls one day...
All I gotta say is, Ik I commented before actually watching this but I came back to say "Wow, I loved loved and really enjoyed this video". Everything looked so delicious 😋 😍 and your interactions with your family is admirable. Loved Everything about this video. Thanks for sharing Becky. Happy Easter, He Has Risen!!
I’ve made a strawberry cake for my daughter’s birthday for the last two years and I use Sally’s baking addiction’s recipe. You reduce puréed strawberries for the filling and use the freeze dried strawberries for the frosting. It’s so delicious!!
You're so right, you can never have enough garlic or vanilla! The difference garlic makes is unbelievable, the dish is completely transformed, probably my favourite herb/spice/savoury flavouring and vanilla is just so delicious, it's the most popular flavour in the world for a reason lol. ☺️
this is where an instant pot comes in handy. Put the rack in the bottom along with 1 c of water, add you eggs ( i have done as little as 4 to two dozen)put the lid on set on manual for 5 minutes, let it naturally release for 4 minutes then drain and cover with cold water and start peeling. I did find that if the eggs are extremely fresh if you don't peel them right away they can be a little harder to peel in a couple of days. With older eggs I only peel them when I am going to eat them. I was helping a friend do catering jobs, after seeing the instant pot eggs she went out and bought two of them. Love how you and your mom work together.
Our family punch is 7-Up with an undiluted can of frozen limeade. For adults, add a bit of vodka. We call it pea pickers punch. Float some mint leaves. And how wonderful that grandmother is remembered. Our granny is remembered every Christmas with a from scratch German chocolate cake.
I’m a planted based, mostly raw food eater so I’d be hanging out over the fruit bowl. Lol. And yet I still love watching you cook all these meat, dairy, egg dishes. 😊 What a beautiful feast! Thanks for sharing. Cheers!
EASY PEEL METHOD - STEAM THE EGGS. Get the water boiling, fill basket with eggs, cover, steam for 13 minutes. Rinse under cold water. Cool and peel. It took me a few times to get it just right, but now I get pretty consistent, nicely peelable eggs.
I love that you are absolutely fearless about trying new recipes on camera. You are so real and honest and that is just one of the many things we love about you!! Mt mom made that cake (without the decorations). She called it Hawaiian Wedding Cake. It was so delicious! I can't wait to try so many of these recipes.
I enjoyed this video so much!!! I love that you prepare everything from scratch and you don’t lose sight of what the holiday represents! Reminds me of my younger years when my family was still together. And I agree about garlic and vanilla the more the better! Thank you so much!!
Wow I enjoyed every minute of this video. I like that you all did it together. My dad has passed away 1999 and my mom is now in nursing home. But they both cooked our special dinners together. My dad was a chef in the army 1942 -1945. Dad way the best bread and wild game cook ever. Thank You for sharing. You brought back memories.

There is only one word that describes your Easter/Birthday spread and that is AWESOME.
Are you planning to try and freeze dry some of your own strawberries this year? Might be a nice alternative to expensive store bought!
