I just discovered her a couple hours ago. Now, I'm just watching every reaction I can find. I'm not a fan of over profanity. But man the emotion she put into those mfs. They're were necessary to tell the story she told in that masterpiece. This is freaking amazing.

Kasey is an Aussie country singer and its her dad singing the backing vocals. I have never heard her sing like this before. She took on a huge song and made it her own. Outstanding stuff

Her dad was on the slide. I think it was her brother on the guitar providing the backing vocals for this performance. You can even see the guitarist on the video sing in to the microphone whilst playing the guitar in the second verse. Bill didn't have a microphone within reach of where he was sitting whilst killing that slide!
Her dad Bill is on slide, Brandon her long term guitarist is the one doing backup singing and playing the first guitar that comes in. Nash rarely performs with her anymore but I think still manages & produces some stuff

When slim did this is was an epic rhythmic poetry session. When kasey did it, its a sonic tapestry. Shows how talented she is doing this, and how talented slim is that he created something that could lend itself to this.

Thanks for doing this one! This gives me chills every single time I hear it. Kasey going from that resigned, laid back approach early in the song to the fighting emotion later is beyond powerful! 💪🏼 Kasey is very under appreciated and needs to be recognised more on an international scale! Kasey is a master of storytelling, conveying lyrics and emotion! She is an icon in the Australian music industry, mostly for country and folk, but has her own style and is never afraid to delve into something outside the box. She is just getting better as she gets older. I really hope that Eminem has seen this and appreciates that his song and lyrics were re-imagined in such a spectacular way. I guess he has as he did give her permission to upload to Spotify etc. Would really like to hear what he thought about it though. Where else would you see hand-banging with a banjo, pedal steel guitar and rock band together? Kasey started her solo commercial career around the same time as Eminem and she was a big fan of his music. From what I understand, Kasey spent lockdown playing around with some of her favourite songs and this version of Lose Yourself is the result. Brilliant! Kasey has spent her whole solo career bucking the constraints of the record companies and always gone her way. She made it to the top in Aussie music anyway with many awards, becoming the youngest ever ARIA Hall of Fame recipient. BTW….how was that for breath and vocal control? Not to mention the awesome arrangement. ❤ Also, that was Kasey’s Dad, Bill, on the steel guitar. Full kudos to Eminem for his songwriting. Personally, the reason Kasey’s version affects me so much is all down to the fact that she did lose herself in the music, the moment during this performance. She is a true blue Aussie who will leave her soul bared on stage every single time. ❤
Just in case you hadn't heard yet, the story is that Eminem has heard this version and loved it so much that he has allowed Kasey to upload it on Spotify. Not sure how true the story is but Kasey's version is on Spotify.

Kasey has said in interviews that she listens to artists who can put emotion and vulnerability into their lyrics and no one does it better than Eminem.
She's listened to Em for many years and plays him often in her household.
She's always wanted to do a cover but never had the time to give it what it deserved.
During Covid Lockdown here she had plenty of time to learn the lyrics and write the melody.
She wentbon to say that shes never felt more connected to an audience as when she performed this.
She is truly phenominal. ❤
Seen her 7 times since 2001 but haven't been to any recent shows so haven't heard her do this song , but she has many great songs , mostly in the alternate country genre in America , but country in Aus , I have all her solo albums and one from when she was lead singer of the dead ringer band ( which was her , her mum, dad and brother Nash) when she was in her mind teens

Fun story I use to live in a fishing town called Beachport in the state of south Australia and she use to sing sometimes for fun in the pub as a 16 yo so early 90's and the pub went quiet with amazement with every song and no stage just a mic, she has a great voice, she has certainly made the most of it. Great cover never thought it would happen but here we are. lol
