Aussie here. I've never really been a fan of Kasey, but this is bloody brilliant, and if all her music was like this, I'd be first in line to buy concert tickets. Kasey is more of a country singer, so this is out of left field. Absolutely amazing. 🐨🦘

I saw Kasey in an interview like a decade ago where they asked what kind of music she listens to and she said she loves Eminem. You can tell she really appreciates this song

They had recorded this performances audio professionally but did not have any video. They noticed many of the fans recording the song and asked them for their footage which they then spliced together to make this. A very cool idea. The whole thing is an event. Thanks for your reaction.

New artist to you… Welcome to our Kasey! Kasey is a veteran of Aussie music for over 25+ years + her earlier history growing up touring with the family band (The Dead Ringer Band). Please also bear in mind that Kasey was 46 or so at the time of this performance in 2022. Kasey is an absolutely legendary Australian country/folk artist, multiple award winner, and youngest ever ARIA Hall of Fame inductee! Kasey’s Dad, Bill, is actually on slide in this performance. This performance is the culmination of Kasey’s work during Covid lockdown. She is a big Eminem fan and pays tribute to his brilliant lyrics with her own interpretation and an epic live performance! ❤ We are so damned proud of her!

Kasey has been on stage since she was 8-10yrs old with their family band Dead Ringer Band. They were popular in Aus country music circles. She went off on her own as a teenager after writing songs for the band. Her first album was critically acclaimed but radio stations refused to play it so she wrote a song called Pretty Enough which was a f you to the radio stations. They then started playing her music. She is the youngest women ever inducted into the ARIA hall of fame (Australian record industry) she is an amazing story teller with a very distinctive voice that you will either like or not.
Like so many great Aussie artists she never really got a break in the US but that’s all the better for us Australians 😂
She loves Eminem’s writing & used the time in lockdown to come up with the version you’re listening to. She then just dropped it in at the end of her concert out of the blue.

Her song Ain’t No Little Girl is fabulous (it’s one of only a few I prefer the studio version of) she started writing it when she split with her ex husband Shane, she left it for a long time then finished and released it. I’m guessing it’s about him but if you listen to you can make up your own mind. Shane is also an Aussie country singer and they did make some great music together ( rattlin bones album) & some beautiful kids

She's apparently very well known in Australia, has been performing since she was a child and is in her 40's here, and that is her brother on guitar and her father on the slide. She wrote the arrangement during lockdown because it's one of her favorite songs

While you are watching this remember Kasey is a country singer. I have watched this girl growing up first in her dads band and then break away on her own. She has released many Lp's here in Australia all as a country singer and she is one of the best here because country music is very strong in Australia. She normally writes her own material but this is something completely different a sshe chooses to 'rock the boat' as they say every now and then. A friend of mine was in the audience and told me that some people walked out after this but they felt she had betrayed her roots of the genre. She is a fabulous talent who has been asked to go overseas but prefers the life style we have here. She is a treasure that's for sure.

Yep Kasey definitely made it her own and then some! Leaves everything out there. She has been performing for over 20 years and has some great original songs. A couple worth checking out are Ain't No Little Girl live or Not Pretty Enough studio version is my favourite.

Kasey is a country singer in Australia, but she likes to wander into other genres sometimes. Even though she is country, she is a fan of Eminem and his lyrics. She has always wanted to cover this song but couldn't find time to work on it, to give the lyrics the justice she thought they deserved. When Covid hit and touring was put on hold, she found the time to work on the interpretation. This is the result. Not all Aussies are into Country Music, but we all know who Kasey Chambers is. The man on the steel guitar is her father, btw.

I've known Kasey since she was a little girl, working in her family's fish and chip shop and traveling with her dad's band and performing from a very young age. She's Aussie Country Music Royalty. Fun fact, that's her dad, Bill, on the slide guitar. We are all so proud of her.

She is the youngest person to be included to the Australian Country Music Hall of Fame, as well as, the ARIA(Australian Recording Industry Association) Hall of Fame; plus multiple ARIA awards for her singles and albums.

The only good thing to come out of Australia's insane lockdown farce was this song. It gave Kasey the time to create this masterpiece.

The filming was taken from fans mobiles (cells) in attendance that night. Kasey asked for fans to send in what they had and it was mixed with the sound recording from the night. This was not long after COVID lockdown. Kasey is a huge Em fan and reworked his classic during lockdown.

She won about every award an Australian country singer songwriter can win,her biggest hit in the state was I'm I not pretty enough for maybe 20 years ago. both songs kinda dealing with struggles of being in the music industry,you can hear her music in several US television shows the last episode of the Sopranos, Hell on wheels.

She has big Patty Griffin vibes in this song. Her radio friendly songs back in the day were always sung in a voice i didnt connect with as much, but this is great.

Grew some crazy influences from the UK mostly but the US navy coming to town back then meant new music we hadn't heard on Wolfman Jack. Having family in the Aus Navy and running nightclubs back then. Fun times

It is not a cover it is another version. A cover only applies if the artists puts out their version the same time as the original to takes sales away.

Lyrics the same… her tempo-change, whilst singing the lyrics, but maintaining syllabic emphasis to let us sonically hear the internal rhymes/rhyme scheme complexity in general, including slant rhymes is impeccable. As for voice and delivery, she absolutely nails the emotion and story, as well as progressive tone. One of the best results of COVID is a masterpiece cover.

I don't mean to come across as an arsehole, but it does happen with the mental difficulties I have. Finding the right words is, for me, a long process and I don't have the patience.
However, to try to overcome those difficulties, I inject a little humour into my comments.
