I'll be 1st in line for tickets when she comes back to WA, coz I gotta see this live. Kaseys whole family are extremely musical, but they out did themselves with this. It plays in my house at least 3 times a day, coz I'm addicted 😂 and I don't care who knows it (its a good thing all my neighbours work 😂). ❤ I think the best words to describe Kaseys performance are "fierce" with a side of "get out of my damn way aggression" and a squeeze of "Aussie outback attitude" 🦘🐨🤟

Kasey worked out the arrangement during lockdown with her brother who is performing with her for a radio show in Australia called Like a Version where artists go into the radio station studio and do a cover live putting their own stamp on it. This was performed at the last show of her first tour after covid and it's been put together from the footage taken on the mobile phones of the crowd who asked her to perform her Like a Version live for them. She's a superstar ✨️

Her fans pleaded with her to share it with the world and she is world class , kasey has had a song in the Sopranos closing credits and songs in movies a truly gifted song writer in her own right, so the call went out for cellphone recording of this on her socials , fans sent them in it was mixed and this is the result. The early pain and frustration of radio airplay knockbacks led Kasey to write 'Not Pretty Enough', which shot to the top of the charts. Multiple music awards later, you can still feel that anguish release in her interpretation of 'Lose Yourself'. Looking forward to the next chapter.

Guitarist? You'd probably get a kick out of anything Cold Chisel have done. Ian Moss is one of Australia's most celebrated guitarists, his work is always very, very tasty and there are some impeccably recorded live performances. The album work is worth a shout as well tho. Bow River/When The War Is Over/Wild Thing (Troggs cover) are the staple live go-to songs, but 'Forever Now', especially the album/music video version will probably be more interesting for you. The outro solo is sublime.

I used to follow a band called Bitter Sweet Alley (BSA) in the late 80s. For the most part I would see them in a bar called New York New York just a little bit north of 8 mile. I have heard of the place you mentioned but haven’t been there.
I just recently came across this song and the associated reaction videos. I was hoping that Charismatic Voice had one...but in that absence this is the best reaction I've seen. I really enjoyed your analysis. This version is like a play in 3 acts. Her solo with the banjo & then with the guitarist (was it her brother?) The harmonies and his guitar tone were amazing and then when she took up her pick BAM. So much control and talent and emotion. Yo Michael, You were on this one early. Just found through other reactors I admire declaring it to be the best cover they have ever heard. Got to say it is up there; a brilliant song with a brilliant interpretation.

@Michael Goyette it's fairly old and was recorded from a sound check, never did it in concert, but would have to rate pretty highly amongst any sound checks ever done.

I really enjoyed your analysis. This version is like a play in 3 acts. Her solo with the banjo & then with the guitarist (was it her brother?) The harmonies and his guitar tone were amazing and then when she took up her pick BAM. So much control and talent and emotion. And the arrangement is amazing and brings out the quality of the original lyrics. Had to go back and listen to Eminem's original. Really loved her Dad on steel guitar too.

@@timgellerman1707 I didn’t mention but should have….he uses a capo on 1st fret and uses the F#m and Bm shapes to get that bass note from the open string….I didn’t have my capo handy so I played it differently….:)
