Switching to sport/normal is the wrong way to "stop the sim". In those modes it will still read stick positions and try to fly by your command, and sport doesn't even do obstacle slowing except for ground contact. Alternatively, you have the brake trigger on the left which does the following: ignores stick position, freezes position, hovers, and enters normal mode. Push that button as soon as you think "oh shit" and you're saved. It's really fast. I've used it hundreds of times without a problem. The motor-stop trigger is on the right. So in manual mode up high you should cover the brake trigger, when low you should cover both brake and motor-stop. This is my first drone and I really like it. The three modes, attitude limits, coordinated turn options, and brake button give me a really gentle stepwise learning curve. I'm practicing in both the sim and the drone and getting better at manual mode. I think I'll always enjoy normal mode in gusty wind because it's purely GPS track. Sport mode does station keeping with neutral sticks but will drift in crosswind as soon as it's moving. These varying levels of automation really improve the flying experience.
Awesome video as always... Have you ever tried the stop/pause button in emergencies instead of flipping to sport and normal mode? It helped me a lot in bad manual flight situations. :)
I have been watching these fpv footage and they are amazing. Photography is about showing people things they haven't seen so you really need to be in on it. It's definitely not easy which I would say a normal done is.

One of your best videos! Loved the married couple's camaraderie. Seriously though: Simulation time & lots of big sky practice is essential......FPV pros never started with torture tests like this.
The rabbit hole of FPV goes pretty deep Tony, I hope you're prepared! I'd recommend the Liftoff simulator by the way, it's the best one I've used and you can connect most transmitters to it (if you're getting a Cinewhoop, you'll need to get the other square DJI controller anyways, as the new gamepad DJI controller you have only works with the DJI FPV drone, currently). After MANY hours in Liftoff, I can fly like a pro pilot doing crazy maneuvers, and those skills transfer to the real world. Although note that for the crazy acrobatic shots you might want, a cinewhoop with ducted props will handle quite poorly. They're good for cinematic cruising shots, but a standard 5 inch quad (without prop guards) will perform better for more acrobatic shots. Check out the iFlight Cidora SL5 HD or the Diatone Roma F5 HD. Those two are probably the best value 5 inch bind & fly drones on the market right now.
You can change the settings to electronically correct the roll horizon in the video so it’s level. So you win the cinematic point cause you didn’t know you could do that.
You have the head set and controller there are several fpv drones with the dji fpv system for around 500 bux you can get a race drone that pairs right to your equipment. Now that you have tried the DJI fpv drone there is no racing or stunts fpv drone that will provide as clear of an image without glitches or scratchy feed. The fpv air unit is the way. I also recommend learning how to set the Drone using betaflight. The presets are okay but you may want to adjust them.
It’s a love hate relationship with DJI care refresh for me ! I lost £800 from a salt water crash, literally a 2 second dip after my mavic air 2 lost altitude flying forward 5ft off the ground ! Lesson learned, I’m back in the air now ! Stay safe, great video.
I have a couple of Align M470 quads (2015 electronics) that weigh 5 lbs each without the batteries. One day I accidently flipped the "return home" switch when I laid down the transmitter to adjust the gain via my cell phone. When it got about 60' away it armed and took off. Since it had no FPV or screen I had no idea where home was, I'm guessing it was returning home to Taiwan. I managed to gain partial control and ground it, hitting a chain link fence at about 45 mph. If that would have hit a house, a person or gone through a window it would not be good. I no longer fly those quads, I don't trust them and they can do too much damage.
Footage from these types of drones from various rally or drift championships is incredible. Like seeing your favourite team blasting through dunes in Dakar from that perspective is really something else.
Iflight titan xl5 hd 4s with dji fpv air unit. About 350$ 6s for about 460$ that way you still keep your fpv drone from dji. You don't have to buy new goggles and radio. And you can have as many little fast drones as you want just make sure they have the dji fpv air unit. I believe there is even a little three inch woop with that stack in it.
Definitely buy a 5” too if you want to do acrobatics, cinewhoops fly like a bus in the air. Which is great for filming! But your lighthouse inverted flip, a 5” would be better.
There are a lot of nice aftermarket hoods and shades to use with your controller, and you can use a larger device like an Ipad vs phone. Also you can buy a dedicated controller, which is probably brighter and bigger than an Iphone, but the shade, or hood is still critical for the best viewing if you don't want to go full BUG. Databyter
I think it's quite pointless to compare a potentially acro drone with a pure cinematic one. Also, the DJI FPV drone is everything but durable. There's a lot of misunderstanding around the FPV drone, but one thing is sure to me: you need to be an FPV acro pilot to fly the FPV drone. If you're buying it just to keep it in normal or sport mode, then use that money to buy an air or even a mini. If you want to enable what they call the "manual mode" (acro) you need a lot of practice to avoid crashing - and again, that drone is not forgiving *at all* , a single hit against a tree can easily break an arm.
Hey Tony and Chelsea. I fly with DJI mavics, phantoms and fpv. First Ditch that motion controller. Fly with a radio and sticks (joysticks). :) Checkout the beta95 V3 with the insta360 SMO4K or similar. It's probably one of the easier BNFs (Bind and fly) setups. Plus you get pretty decent footage. your biggest challenge with getting some of the more popular drone setups is it will require you to do some DIY modding. I can tell you first hand you'll need to learn how to solder. You'll need to become comfortable with possibly replacing components. It will be significantly cheaper than the DJI but your durability is going to be..... different. In many circumstances you'll be perfectly fine with bumping into things but in pretty much all of the Cine whoops electronics are exposed to the elements. This isn't a complete problem as there are ways to waterproof the drone but you should be aware that splashes of water and even the occasional blending of nice vegetation (from the props during a crash or loss of control) can cause moisture to get into the electronics. Oh and don't get me on the subject of LiPo batteries.. Read and watch videos about proper charging, discharging and storage. there's a lot more battery management and planning with FPV batteries than safe for example your DJI drones. Love the channel you two are always fun. BTW... as soon as I saw that you guys had a DJI FPV my first thought was uh oh this isn't going to end well.. Hahaha
If you you think trying to recover from that flip was hard just wait until you go down the slippery slope of messing with carbon fiber FPV drones. It’s very rewarding even when you mess up but if you build one from scratch it’s like giving something life... and the you break it and you’ll find you must bring it back to life. If you build one you’ll build as many as you can afford because some have different characteristics or you love one so much you must always have a backups. I’m not as bad as I was but I think it’s just because things are in limited supply at the moment, we’ll see in time. Good luck, I hope you give it a try.
If u you want something silent u will need a really small whoop like 90/120mm quad with 3s batterys. Then for record on 2.7k/4k u will need a GoPro hero 6 naked + realsteady GO This big cinewhoop u show are really loud but they can carry a hero 9 without have to make it naked or use realsteady for stabilisation
I hade the same experience with an Mavic Pro (first version), flying autonomize in an wood landscape from an "sand pit". Didn't know that the ground were raising 10 meters. The result was an Mavic Pro stuck 75-100 meters above the bottom of the sandpit... Tried for 15 minutes to get it down (until the battery went out) Dji app made it easy to find the aproximatly position and alo was able to locate it with the ound of the props) but i didn't get it down. Wrote it of mentaly and planning on looking for a new one. A friend asked me a few weeks later if i had found it since it had been stormy. Went out (had GPS tagged the position and 2 trees away it was laying in the moss. I thought that it at least should have brooken an arm and it looked like it had BUT it turned out that it had just folded it in during the fall. The only small obvious error was one of the landinglegs (hidding the GPS antenna) were broken.... Took it home tried it.. Works perfectly after a few weeks in the frezzing chilling sweedish winter/spring.
People people, there are many drones / quads out there doing what they're good at! DJI makes these like camera platforms that anyone can fly. Easy and safe. And now they widened there envelope, with making one with good quality video / photo footage and also with fun flying capabilities and an extra fun flying controller. That's just icing on the cake! Just more flying enjoyment. That's a good thing!
That’s… not a proprietary cable… it’s a standard barrel connector like most Fpv headsets use. The goggles work with any voltage between like 7-22. Couple more things here… -Warning: The sun can burn the screen through the lenses in the goggles -Use the emergency brake feature please! Switching modes in a panic isn’t what DJI tells you to do at all. -The FPV drone isn’t designed to be an easy tool like the Mavic series. It’s designed to give newcomers steps to being able to capture not only amazing shots, but full experiences for their viewers -The FPV is an extremely powerful drone.. keep that in mind in terms of safety -Last thing, if someone wants to go into drones for the first time, and get something in the air easily.. go with the DJI Mini SE. It has great video quality, tons of features, and it’s only $300
Just put the mavic air 2 phone in some moviemask goggles which magnify the full screen of your phone to a large size on 80 to 120 inches. Works great. Insurance isn't going to do you much good, if a prop grazes someone's eye. I saw this happen on a birthday party - a tiny drone took out the birthday kid's right eye, when some relative launched that birthday present in the hallway and had no clue how to fly it. When you're doing these escapades, you should wear some solid polycarbonate safety glasses! A fencer's scar is a lot better than a missing eye.

I wonder if you can help, I was out walking few weeks back and found a mavic air 2, I stayed at the location with it for about an hour waiting for whoever owns it to find it but no-one came so I brought it home and reported the location to the police. Is there anyway of locating the owner or failing that resetting the drone. Thanks
Buy a hd cinnewhoop. Small, agile, lightweight, hd. U will fly in analog unless you buy a digital system as far as goggles go in viewing the Fpv footage however when you take the recording and play it back off the sd card it will be in 1080.
And I recommend a cheap Tinywhoop with prop guards and a good simulator and a lot of batteries and flying sessions. And a good repair kit. And betaflight tutorials. That's how it all starts, no way around it...
DJI 2 is better then DJI FPV 🤔 ? There really not much you can do with DJI 2 . When you write a list of the different things two different drone can do. You well see that DJI FPV and any other FPV Drones can do around 14 more different types of techniques.

Is the mavic video choppy or is it just my browser?
Probably the best video comparing these 2 drones. Answered all my questions.
Why did you switch the drone back to "Sport"? There is an extra "Pause" button
I used that FAA course and I passed the test on my first try. Thanks for the great info.
Hahahaha. I want to buy the FPV but my wife wants me to buy the Air 2..the first minute of this had me laughing 😅
the heart rate while flying is very relatable LOL
Lots of downsides but the footage from the FPV is very unique
Definitely buy a 5” too if you want to do acrobatics, cinewhoops fly like a bus in the air. Which is great for filming! But your lighthouse inverted flip, a 5” would be better.
He'd still crashed. He prob stayed on the throttle when inverted.
@@divingfalconfpv4602 I mean everyone crashes, it's a part of the hobby. Live and learn.
Databyter
tony after flying fpv : iam having a heart attack
First
Ditch that motion controller. Fly with a radio and sticks (joysticks). :)
Checkout the beta95 V3 with the insta360 SMO4K or similar.
Then for record on 2.7k/4k u will need a GoPro hero 6 naked + realsteady GO
This big cinewhoop u show are really loud but they can carry a hero 9 without have to make it naked or use realsteady for stabilisation
You should have used the panic button not switch to sports mode. That was a bad idea.
You should have press the emergency stop button, instead of switching back to sport mode. Pilot error :D
"sounds like an STI" lmao was not expecting that
This drone LITERALLY has an emergency stop button...
@3:05 “ok BIG SHOT”
I heard something totally different at first and was like dam tony that’s harsh
Hello and congratulation for the video. How did you enable the low latency mode on air2 ?
I hade the same experience with an Mavic Pro (first version), flying autonomize in an wood landscape from an "sand pit". Didn't know that the ground were raising 10 meters. The result was an Mavic Pro stuck 75-100 meters above the bottom of the sandpit... Tried for 15 minutes to get it down (until the battery went out)
Dji app made it easy to find the aproximatly position and alo was able to locate it with the ound of the props) but i didn't get it down.
Chelsea get a movie mask and you can use your phone as fpv goggles.
Couple more things here…
-Warning: The sun can burn the screen through the lenses in the goggles
-Use the emergency brake feature please! Switching modes in a panic isn’t what DJI tells you to do at all.
-The FPV drone isn’t designed to be an easy tool like the Mavic series. It’s designed to give newcomers steps to being able to capture not only amazing shots, but full experiences for their viewers
-The FPV is an extremely powerful drone.. keep that in mind in terms of safety
-Last thing, if someone wants to go into drones for the first time, and get something in the air easily.. go with the DJI Mini SE. It has great video quality, tons of features, and it’s only $300
Why is your air 2 footage stuttering?
I think they've recorded at the wrong frame rate.
@@frankfernandes5 Most probably or it may also be a rendering flaw. Which ever it is, you would expect more polished results from such pro's.
@@nasidctg fucking unacceptable. I pay good money for this content!
@@freakinpro more than that. You are giving them the most valuable thing there is. Time.
TIL a USB-C to barrel connector is a "proprietary cord" xD
FYI you can use any battery between like 12V and 25V with a barrel connector
Just put the mavic air 2 phone in some moviemask goggles which magnify the full screen of your phone to a large size on 80 to 120 inches. Works great. You can leave the zipper open at the bottom and still reach in and change settings. Oh yeah cinewhoops are extremely loud. I sold a Taycan because it was so loud and got a lot of attention from people.
Lol I'm doing exactly why you said I had the DJI FPV drone and it's a great drone but the battery life is horrible I started looking at the mavic 2 and then I literally found out about the movie mask I said screw this the mavic 2 is better and cheaper with 31 minutes battery life game changer I sent the FPV back and got me a mavic 2 next thing I'm getting is a drone mask
Northrup's videos in 6 months: 10 minutes of affiliate links, 5 minutes of a review. 🤔
Loving mine, yet, I do not speed, cinematic vid recording at 4K are awesome... and I have glasses... too awesome
Great video thank you very much who did you purchase the FPV from to replace the first one that crashed?
I currently have a controller and goggles and all I need is the actual FPV drone, batteries and accessories.
Shendrone Squirt V2, build in a DJI air or Vista unit, Crossfire reciever, Tango 2 transmitter, nice action cam and your good to go.
iFlight Protec 35 is what you are looking for I feel. You can get the 25 but you can’t use a full size go pro.
That's amazing how well it stood up to a week in the elements. I got the air2 but I'm thinking about the fpv. I'm probably going to wait till they come out with a fpv2. Usually the second version is better and more battery's
19:35 cinewhoops are NOT quiet.. they are ridiculously loud! But all your other points about them are true. Great video as usual.
Wow glad to see you guys again i used to watch you for cameras.
You can find the prop guards on ebay for the FPV.
The smart controller, for the mavic air 2 is awesome. You can see in the sun.
That’s so awesome you better have insurance in your FPV Drone my fiancé is a lawyer and I can’t wait to make money of lawsuits!!!!🙃🤪🤫👍💵 definitely see you guys in courts!!!!!! Joke great video!🤙👍
Guys, what kind of camera you guys used to film the video? It looks awesome!!! Thanks
Thanks
...when good things are in wrong hands!
That Air2 broken landing gear...and they smiling about it. 😭 I would cry
Buy a hd cinnewhoop. Small, agile, lightweight, hd. U will fly in analog unless you buy a digital system as far as goggles go in viewing the Fpv footage however when you take the recording and play it back off the sd card it will be in 1080.
0:31 and I have cool goggles... which, as you can see from the shadows, I have the lenses facing directly into the sun
I recommend the Diatone Taycan HD and you can put an Insta360 camera on it and get some amazing videos.
And I recommend a cheap Tinywhoop with prop guards and a good simulator and a lot of batteries and flying sessions. And a good repair kit. And betaflight tutorials. That's how it all starts, no way around it...
It all comes down to how skilled the pilot is
You should do a review of the Litchi. It has the FPV mode with 3d googles for a smartphone. I use it with the Mavic air 2 in sport/ FPV mode.
Hey guys just an FYI, don't leave the goggle lenses facing up towards the sun. It'll burn the screens inside the goggles.
0:07 I like how it starts crying at the end 😭😭😭😭
The heart rate monitor was a great and funny idea!
DJI 2 is better then DJI FPV 🤔 ?
There really not much you can do with DJI 2 .
When you write a list of the different things two different drone can do.
You well see that DJI FPV and any other FPV Drones can do around 14 more different types of techniques.
ROTFL 18 seconds. Thanks for the laughs. Spend a lot more time in a simulator.
