Good luck at Time Attack. It will be cool to see how you go as a non-gigabudget competitor in Open class. We might learn something about the law of diminishing returns. Also, if you want more aerodynamic fasteners for the rear wing, I have a jar of rounded-off nuts & bolts that I should have thrown away by now....
Last I saw you were doing 1:28s. Those coilovers seem a big upgrade from a surprisingly low base. So maybe a couple of seconds there? It'll be interesting to see how BARMY would have done in a road car class, if there is one, bearing in mind you got him round conservatively in 1:34 with Tein Street coilovers, 1220kg and no aero or stiffening.
Awesome!! Its all downhill from there.... :) Once you've competed you'll be "off to the races"......(so to speak). Good luck and hope you have a great time!. Look forward to watching the video. P.S a video on the Capacitors for the Pi would be interesting.
It's going to be awesome, hope you enjoy it!.. obviously we have very different cars (mine also being a miata but very different setup), but since starting to play with coilover stiffness last year i found that, at least on my miata, i want to have the softest settings possible without bottoming out .. for better spectrum when the car communicates.. and also it helped traction alot!.. .. broken advice or not.. (i was sent this german video of suspension travel and balance from a friend, that he found in youtube and it was with some dude with a lotus elise having issues and solving them).. i can see if i can find it..
Thanks very much. It will be interesting to see how I get on with the car and if softening the shocks results in a faster laptimes. I will need some time to tinker on a nice quiet day at a track.... one of those things i will work on over time.
Was soo looking to seeing you and attempting to chase you in open class. But alas franknrex had other plans and is staying on the hoist See you and car tomorrow at the track.
Nice! Wtac next then while you re in the slippery slope ;) i used the racebox pro thing and it works really well, the mini is 25hz aswell should be even better. The app is pretty neat and easy to use between sessions for a quick look to see what to work with next session. Otherwise i use circuit tools for at home analysis and comparison with others.
WTAC entry fee alone is a roadblock for me to enter that event, so I will instead enjoy watching that one from the sidelines. Thanks for the tips with the data, I will have to check out circuit tools.
Indeed, rain scuppered the number of laps for the day. It also netted me a podium result in Open Class... had there been more dry running, I am sure some faster cars would've overtaken me.
I've spotted a Nürburgring sticker! I was wondering if you ever been there. It's a three hour drive for me so I've been there a couple of times, great fun!
I drove the ring some 15yrs+ ago now, wasn't as busy as it is these days. I know I am breaking the rules by having the sticker on my car, but when I was over there all the cool cars had a sticker so I was immediately inspired and copied them.
@@MiataMods I hired an Alfa Romeo from RSRNurburg, they ran by a slightly different name back then, but Ron and his team were lovely. Nowadays seems they moved on to more modern hot hatches for most of their rental cars which is nice to see.
@@MiataMods Thank you mate, it was crazy amazing driving there, after doing so many laps of the track on GranTurismo in my teenage years. I would love to go back again, but I need to wait for my kids to grow up a little first.
I've been using a RaceBox Mini for a couple of meetings. No issues with it so far and I've found it quite useful. Already ordered the next model which has better GPS and doesn't require a phone connection. I hope it works for you
@@racingmad120 I'm an ametuer too, I only use it really to overlay data on the video. I should be reviewing it while at the track and seeing how I can go faster, but I am not driving frequently enough to really learn where/how I can drive better and make use of the data properly.

Thank you, I appreciate the acknowledgement of my competition being gigabudget in comparison.

The change in shocks won't make that significant a change, maybe a few tenths at most I think.
I’m a simple man. I see a Beavis video and I hit the like button.
You are very kind.

Thank you mark, will be sure to share an update on the Pi screen & capacitors in the near future.
You're gonna do awesome! Shiny side up and keep it on the black stuff. Good luck man!
Thanks mate!
I've been looking at getting a vinyl cutter, which model did you go for? Also good luck at AusTimeAttack, looking forward to the video of the event.
Cricut Explore Air 2. Thank you.

Thanks, will get something up on youtube asap.
Awesome. You'll have fun at least. Good luck!!
Thanks Don

Had a quick look at times and S1 was good, gather it got a bit damp after that!

You took the car to Shockworks? Same place that Surge went to. Nice.
Indeed.
Open class will be intense. Good luck for the comp. One perfect lap
Thanks Mr McLaren.
Good luck, can't wait to see out on track!
Thanks very much :-)
you got this. Good luck.
Thanks :-)
About damn time!

Awesome, that's good to hear, so far - on first impressions at least - seems like the RaceBox Mini is working way better than the old Garmin I had.
