Once at work, our office servers stopped working. For almost a full ten minutes there was talk how we gonna lose a ton of progress for today, if it wont be fixed till noon.
The IT guy fixed it the next half an hour, and told us it works cuz the Machine Spirit wants it to work. He literally did nothing to it, but waited, we stared at the server bank with him, and it came back to life. The collective faith in the Omnissiah saved our work day.

Like as an electrical engineer, I unironically believe in the Ohmnessiah.
Some machines just won't work unless you usher them alone, some will work when they really shouldn't, Like I built my own computer when I was 10 and just kept upgrading it over the last decade, I'm somewhat convinced my PC is now sentient. And if it isn't, I'm certain it has a machine spirit, I've had it encounter issues with seemingly no fix, once had an issue where it took 3 days to try and diagnose the issue as it had somehow deleted the desktop, and thes best way I could describe it. Only for on the 3rd day for it to randomly turn on while I was on a tea break and decide to suddenly let me hard reset itself, something it had been resisting for at least a day by then. It's like it came to terms with being reset and embraced reincarnation. I mean, in the modern day, physically how it's setup, it shouldn't work, It's a frankenstein of a build, old and new parts combined to squeeze every bit of power I can. But have of the boot sequence is stored on the non boot drive, there are filed named identically, in the same location that lead to different folders, something that is hard coded to be impossible on windows.
TLDR, trained professional willing to confirm the existence of machine spirits.

You had a Space Marine 2 question about an Inquisitor sending Titus to the Deathwatch as a penance for heresy, but also the space marines suggesting that serving in the Deathwatch is a high honor.
Both are true. The Deathwatch is a group made to counter Xeno threats. I mean like high up threats, the biggest threats from aliens you can imagine. The front lines of those encounters will be led by Deathwatch. The Deathwatch isnt made from a single legion though, its comprised of volunteers. They go from legion to legion asking for the best of the best to serve. The legion/chapter will have a volunteer or they will pick someone to send to serve the Deathwatch for a certain amount of time. Its honored because most of the time its a death sentence. The missions Deathwatch undergo have a high casualty ratings, even for space marines, but its by necessity. The are many dark horrors out there that are only kept at bay because of the Deathwatch.
Titus did not volunteer and wasnt given the honor of joining. He didnt get to keep his Ultramarine symbol on his shoulder, and he wasnt serving for any set amount of time. His shoulder colors were painted black, and he was sent to serve as a blackshield, for life, until death to redeem himself in the eyes of the emperor. To be a blackshield is not honor, its punishment. No going home victory party. Just one suicide mission to the next. The fact that Titus survived 100 years in the Watch is crazy. Fun fact: If the Emperor dies he would actually just get reborn into a new body, so if they were to end him now he could come back in a better condition than just a corpse throne, but not only would that leave them very vulnerable, no one wants to have the bad wrap of having killed the emperor, no amount of justification would stop them from being stapled a heretic and killed for their supposed transgression. It's so bad that they view the Emperor as more important than humanity itself, this is why the emperor never wanted to be worshipped, he even burnt down a church worshipping him because he was afraid of this outcome. In recent lore Cypher had the opportunity to kill the emperor so that he could revive, but he was stopped by the emperor who said not yet.
There are some theories to why he doesn't want to revive yet:
As William said it could take centuries and no-one is able to take his place in the meantime.
It's possible he's waiting to regain the star child part of his soul to revive more efficiently.
And the last, in his current state he's more powerful than he ever was when he was "human' (especially since the opening of the great rift), since he has premonitions it's possible that he has saw a threat that he wouldn't be able to face with his normal powers.

First off, welcome to the community bro. The community is very accepting of new fans wanting to take the plunge in any aspect of the hobby. It doesn't matter if it's video games or the Tabletop. Side note though, the tabletop is a commitment of its own so I would only get into it if you are ready and if you have someone willing to play the game and split a box set with you, do it.
Important thing: the minis come UNASSEMBLED AND UNPAINTED. Painting is a big part of the hobby but not for everyone. As someone who paints these minis for a living I encourage people to paint their own stuff all the time but that part is a commitment in itself and I wouldn't want you to spend money on something you would get bored of. That being said, I'm always looking for new clients 😅, but I just had to let you know that before getting into it. And more importantly play something YOU like, faction power levels change every few years but if you have an army you enjoy the lore of you will never get tired of it. Combat Patrol is a game mode in of itself with slightly different rules than the regular wh40k game to keep the boxes balanced. If you decide you want to pursue the hobby further you have the perfect jumping off point to build a bigger army from there. Also boxed sets give you much better value than individual units.
Home Rules, When playing, if you and your friend are confused by a ruling, dont fight or argue it, find a compromise to the rule or just flip a coin. there are a LOT of rules in this game and can get very confusing to the new player.

So, the Emperor is a perpetual. In the 40k universe, these are people who cannot die. When they die, they basically just respawn. He is literally being kept at 1 hp, being unable to respawn.
Unfortunately, killing him has a lot of consequences. At the moment, he is powering the Astronomicon, which is used to navigate the Warp. Should he die, all of space navigation goes with him. At the moment of the universe, the galaxy was cleaved in two, one side has the Astronomicon, the other doesn't. On the side that doesn't, all hell's breaking loose.
Also, because of stuff that happened during the Horus Heresy, there is a Warp Rift in Terra that he's holding off. If he dies, Terra will become another tear in the fabric of reality.
Finally, because he's been fed 1000 souls a day for a millennia, and deified, he has become a god, but he is still trapped in his mortal body. If his body was allowed to die, he would return as a new full-fledged god.

Lady Warhammer player here and I play Adepta Sororitas!!! I started learning the lore and it just BLEW. MY. MIND how hardcore these women were. A whiff of heresy? The Sisters will put your ass down. I will fangirl for my faction to anyone who will listen :D
As part of the table top Battle Honours program in stores to get part of my stuff signed off I had to talk to a staff member about why I chose them basically and I got a little teary eyed because representation. They are fiercely loyal and can go toe to toe with anyone and they aren't portrayed as somehow weaker because they are women. Also yes, The Exorcist pipe organ tank is awesome!
I didn't think I would ever be playing a tabletop game but there is something so satisfying about building and painting your army and seeing your artistic skills improve with each miniature you build. It's also SUPER relaxing. I'll put on some Netflix or some music and I can paint for a whole day. Then you play a battle and you lay your army on the table and there is a definite sense of "Awwww yeah, see that? Yeah I made that." I've spent about $2000 so far but the sheer amount of hours of fun in building, painting and playing does make it really good value.

39:19 they can't exactly banish demons with their presence (that's more pariahs things and you can only be born with such an ability), but their mental conditioning is enough not to go crazy or get corrupted upon contract with the warp sorcery or entities, unlike regular people, but that still doesn't mean they couldn't be corrupted at all, given enough time and exposure (e.g. they can't really go where Grey Knights usually go), but usually they win or get killed long before that. Space Marines are conditioned the similar way (since after the Horus Heresy), but one chapter in particular went an extra mile in that - Exorcists are actually forcing daemons into the innates and after some time get them banished by Inquisitor, thus getting a boosted resistance against the warp entities, which makes their chapter one of the best to fight against the daemonic incursions or in warp-infested environments (basically a Wallmart Grey Knights).

There are a few reasons why GW stuff has not made it to the big screen. Games Workshop for the longest time was adamant on having full control and merch rights over their ip, meaning collaborations were impossible, recently that has become more relaxed, BUT, studies need to studio, and want to change things to have their own stamp on stuff, and GW is firm on vetoing changing the lore drastically, which I think is a good thing. as there is not need to change an entire setting to fit a story, rather the lore is large enough to tell the story inside it

He guides all of their ships, he guides humanity through the galaxy. Everyone on Terra would feel his death, and like 5 seconds later, humanity would just be destroyed. Just by existing, his sheer power wards off all four chaos Gods, and when he dies this would be felt throughout the warp, and within moments Terra would be swarmed with everything hell has been trying to throw at it for 10,000 years

    - The "magazine" of lasgun is actually battery pack that can be recharged by itself, solar, and heat. You can literally toss the mag into a campfire and recharge it. If the death count is at 30 million in a single battle, this is normal.
    - If you are a Salamander, it doesn't matter if you are pastiest white guy ever , your skin will turn because of your primarch's geneseed. The only exception is if you're from the same planet as your primarch. They're kind to people, yes, but they're extremely racist to xenos.
    - If you know the feeling of intense claustrophobia, a blank is that but as a person. The feeling is instinctual. The Culexus just make it worse. Psykers will go crazy, regular people will find the highest building or bridge they could get up on and jump, and if you're a soldier....well, you have a gun in your hand. Might as well point it to your temple.
    - The Grey Knights are anti-demons, the same way the Deathwatch are anti-xenos. Both are under the command of the Inquisition. The only exception is that the Deathwatch are comprised of veteran Space Marines and will not shoot you if you're unlucky enough to see them.
    - The High Lords of Terra are people who govern the Imperium. In the command hierarchy, they are below the Inquisition. The only people Inquisitors can't command are the Custodes (they've tried that, didn't work) and the Primarchs.

  • @benjaminrosiek5007
    @benjaminrosiek5007 Месяц назад +4

@1:00:00 the Deathwatch is a mixed regiment faction under the direct control of the Inquisition. The Inquisition takes a tithe of soldiers from each space marine chapter, and retrains and rearms them into what are essentially special forces operations. It depends on the chapter on weather or not they see this as an honor; for instance Ultramarines view it as an honor because the Inquisition is infallible and very righteous; the Space Wolves see it as a dishonor(usually) because it takes them away from their chapter and puts a lot of restrictions on them. Titus, at the end of SpaceMarine, was proven innocent... but that means nothing and so the Inquisition was still suspicious of him; so he was transferred to the Deathwatch under a penitent command (he'd fucked up by being connected to chaos at all and so needed to repent) where they could still have him serve but could watch him.... closely.
Chaplains are a rank in the Space Marine structure. They are very strict to the ecclesiarchcal tenants and as such they are very much the same purpose as chaplains in modern day military, but they are also interrogators, rooting out heretical thinking and doubt among their flock. because of that later half, they are a bit like the inquisition but on a much smaller scale (usually just their own chapter) and so will work with the inquisition pretty readily.

By the way there were really 20 sons of the emperor but 2 were erased from human history because the emperor was at war with a terribly dangerous race at the time the Dark Angels were the biggest legion at the time but the Space Wolves and the Raven Guard had to be sent there as reinforcements but they were too late , this was a huge blow to the Emperor and the brothers even had to have their memories of what happened there erased and 2 of their brothers were destroyed along with 2 entire legions and those that survived were secretly resettled. This trauma also affected heresy. I look forward to the next video. The emperor protects !

And ALMOST GUARANTEED, that they chose their model based off what they thought was the most BADASS ! : p

If you are interested in playing the Tabletop version, I want to caution you and give you some tips: First, research the factions before you buy. The power of the factions tend to rise and fall depending on the Edition of the game; so some will just be table-stomped right now while others will give you a chance. Despite this - pick you faction because you enjoy their lore, regardless of how strong they are; just temper expectations on their current strength.
Second: if you play, try to find an opponent who will play "Fluffy", i.e. not outright crushing you with the best models. This will help you both learn the game and let you start figuring out what works and what doesn't for your faction. Don't try to play hard-core right away, you will quickly get frustrated.
Third: the best way to start playing is what are called "Combat Patrol Boxes". Pick up one of those and you tend to get a discount deal for the models involved. There is also a game format based around those boxes. I think they're around $120-150 a box? Been a while since I got one, so not sure.

Ok, so Bricky actually kinda misrepresents the Cult/Adeptus Mechanicus for the memes. They officially view the Emperor as the physical manifestation of the Machine God, and mostly worship him not as the Emperor, but as the Omnissaiah. They worship the Machine God, the Omnissaiah, and the Motive Force as their version of the Holy Trinity. The Emperor allowed them to continue this belief as part of the treaty he signed with them.
Also, to use your car battery example, you've got to think of it this way: they're still going to swap your car battery. But it will be done by enacting the Ritual of Battery Removal, followed by the Rite of Swapping, the Sacrament of Battery Insertion, and then the Ritual of Reconnection. The entire process would be finalized by the Liturgy of the Test Start. Depending on whether the Machine God and Omnissaih favor them, the new battery will crank. If not, they've done something wrong, and there's a decent chance that there's an execution or re-education in someone's near future.

Fun fact, Henry Cavill (he played Geralt in The Witcher show) is a HUGE Warhammer fan. He's actually in the process of trying to get a Warhammer 40k TV show going. He's got steam on it, but apparently he's VERY into the lore and wants it to be lore accurate and that's causing some problems. I HOPE it happens, and I think he's doing whatever he can to get it to happen.

@8:47 This is fairly recent lore compared to all of wh40k lore but to clarify, In the creation of the Primarchs Emperor gave the 50% of genes and the one that provided the other 50% Genes was A Female Perpetual named Erda, she's the mother of Primarchs. But she got all warp/chaos influenced and was the one who Threw the 18(20) Primarchs to the Warp which resulted them getting scattered across the galaxy. Emps got furious and Imprisoned her(its more like a house arrest) and hid her from the Primarchs so most of them dont know her existence.

The 1000 people a day sacrificed to the Emperor are all pyskers, people with psychic abilities. There is literally a massive fleet, the Black Fleet that travels the Imperium taking them as a tithe on a regular basis.

Inside every PowerPack and every LasGun is actually a Steel Plate engraved in Gold with the Aquila on one side and the Gothic Letters "Lasers Go PewPew" on the other side.
And the work like Ork Weapons because the Guardsmen believe they do.

Basically Titus came into direct contact with the warp and a lot of warp energy and was barely affected. This alone puts him under major suspension of being an agent of chaos. Given what he endured, he should have basically gone insane, became corrupted, or just died, but for whatever reason he is highly resistant to warp energies.
This same corruption effect is why Grey Nights purge anyone who survived a demon assault, the average persons mere knowledge of chaos existing is enough to begin corrupt them further and spreading that corruption and eventually leading to summoning demons and chaos invations into the materium.

in addition to keeping the Astronomicon shining in the Warp, the Emperor and the Golden Throne also maintain the shield that keeps the Warp (and all the nasty things that dwell within) from spilling through the Webway into the Imperial Palace. It's heavily implied, though never explicitly said, the Emperor also performs "miracles" through his more devout followers (such as the Sororitas and various saints), as well as his sons (Guilliman, after being struck down by his brother Mortarion, is brought back to life and lays a golden smackdown on Morty and all nearby daemons).

    Sorry for commenting again.
For tabletop, it is a point based system. You and your opponent would agree how many points your armies will be, for a match. Lets say 2000 points.
If I were Imperial Guard and you were Space Marines, we would both select models from our armies that would equal up to the 2000 point limit. If my Guardsmen Infantry suck (lets choose a ransom number, 10) each guardsmen is worth 10 points. If your Space Marines are good (another number, 100) then they are worth 100 points. So i could get 200 infantrymen in my army. Whereas you could only get 20. And that would be the balance, is the point limit. Things like tanks, vehicles, special units, and upgraded weapons (like snipers, rockets, mortars, etc) will probably be of a higher point value. Every faction has their own book (codex) which literally has like charts and stuff, to be able to calculate and combine elements together, to create a unique army, to suit your playstyle and preferences. Or specific to a scenerio.
Some people may choose an army that is mostly melee, or perhaps heavy weapon heavy, or with mobile or armored units. Or tonnes of infantry, or maybe decide on something more balanced. That is where it becomes an, each to their own, kinda thing. Most battles though will require at least one HQ (headquarters) unit, on each side.

About the Imperial Guard. Yes you can have success with them on the tabletop but they are a difficult faction to play. Usually people use tons of artillery, or tons of tanks and vehicles or just waves of infantry. Its a fun army but very expensive because of amount of models you need. I use a lot of tanks and tons of infantry.
