I suggest doing a capacitive discharge of the car battery before changing out parts. Disconnect both battery terminals, starting with the ground - (negative), connect both connection leads with a jumper wire for at 1 minute. Reconnect both battery terminals, hopefully that helps.
    That worked with my car!

Maybe you can help with my problem. I would appreciate your assistance. I have a 09' VW Scirocco 1.4 tsi. Very similar to a golf and other VW models. My instrument cluster was not working. I unplugged the cluster and again plugged it in and miraculously it started working again. I had some warning lights on the dash, took it for a drive and all warning lights disappeared all but the airbag light. Plugged into the ECU and cleared all the codes, and the list was long. Everything was working fine for that day, parked it overnight and the next day the cluster was not working again. I have exhausted just about every attempt to troubleshoot, except I am thinking of getting under the car and looking for shorted damaged cable wires or perhaps a harness plug that is loose and not plugged in properly. That's my next guess. What do you think? Perhaps you can point me in the right direction, because this problem is driving me nuts.

@@fabiengaspari6393 my instrument cluster is working again, in my case moisture was causing the problem, so i opened all the doors of the car on a sunny day to get rid of that moisture.

I found out what it is.
Under the steering column, there are 2 fuses. Black box looking type of fuses. Like a relay. The number of that fuse is 460. That’s what’s written on it. Change both of them. I did that on my 2009 Gti and now it works fine

Hi, the same thing happened to me while I was driving to my home. I would appreciate it if someone would let me know if it is safe to drive to the workshop 15 km away.
