You know, I strangely found this practice all the more valuable because of the little lopsided knee-to-chest part. I tend to struggle with obsessiveness, and at first I began to panic "Aren't we going to do the other side?" "Oh no- we're winding down- what about the other side!?" But then I realized this was a good opportunity to practice Letting it Go and Being Present. I think those mental practices are actually more valuable to me right now than a bit of leg movement 😂

My golden rule is to just do 3minutes, even if I don't want to. After 3minutes I can give up, guilt free. But it's not just a cliche that the hardest part is to show up. You'll often find yourself wanting to continue after those initial 3 minutes.

Movement IS medicine! In finding my way back to that over the past year, I've reminded myself over and over: Body wants to move. The brain sometimes thinks it doesn't, but always, always... body wants to move. Some practices have been easier than others, but I've never, never regretted showing up on the mat. Body wants to move. And it really enjoyed moving today - brain too! Movement is medicine. Thanks so much as always Adriene, and the 6000 people in this lovely community that I practised with today! Incredible!

My 12 year old daughter and I love yoga with Adriene! She has been getting up at 5:30 in the morning with me for going on 2 years now, but we had fallen off the wagon a little bit this winter. We decided to do this series starting February first and try to stick with it. Even with all that prior yoga practice, it feels like a welcome challenge to show up every day; I really feel the difference in my body already on day 4. And I love that the videos are pretty consistent in length; it makes it so much easier to fit in our routine!

day 4. i came to this year's 30 days with no expectations about my physical performance - i am here in part to renew my connection to my chronically ill body and provide it with manageable movement admist pain.
i somehow managed to do chaturangas today without needing to move my knees to the floor...something i have needed to do in each chaturanga since i began yoga many years ago. i experienced some surprise at my body's capability. and maybe elation?
part of me is embarrassed to be writing this comment but i sincerely hope folks who are practicing for similar reasons see this comment as a reminder that these experiences are still possible

Never let them tell you that something is chronic or forever. Most illnesses can be cured by fasting and diet, most importantly cutting out sugar. Look into it. I recommend watching videos with Dr. Mindy Pelz and Dr. Jason Fung, two scientists who know a lot about fasting and the latest research. When you fast, your body goes into healing mode, repairing anything that needs to be repaired in your body. I fast often, I am rarely sick (If I do get a cold once in a blue moon, it lasts for a day or two), I am 38 years old, and people think I am in my early to mid 20s. I also have more energy now than I had in my 20s when I wasn't fasting. Worth giving it a try.
