Thanks for the plug for Alzheimer's research. I watched my father struggle with Alzheimer's before he passed away. Love the project this week too. Thank you for sharing your art with the rest of us.
Thanks, David. Sorry to hear about you father. Alzheimer’s is such a horrible disease. That’s why the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is so important!!
My grandfather died of Alzheimer's. I am happy to donate to this cause!
I personally do not turn a lot of bowls. I prefer other projects, but really enjoy watching your videos and your process. Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you very much 👍🏻
Very nice, nice recovery! Thank you for your work with Alzheimer's patients
Thanks, Vince!
You get a new feeling each time a piece of wood comes off your lathe like that. No matter how many times it happens I jump.
Yep, exactly 😵💫
Good morning, Peggy.
Your video and bowl, very well done. It will always amaze me seeing the beauty of wood as it is shaped and finished. Each very unique.
Thank you! Cheers!
Gorgeous bowl...love the bark inclusion! You are so lucky to have access to so much Maple!
Yes, indeed! Thanks! 👍🏻
Hi Peggy your bowl I brought form you and sent it to Washington dc for me neice has just arrived In England . I got to see it first hand 2 days ago . A it's as nice a the day is long thank you again . Made me happy and me neice thank you ...Mark
Awe, thanks, Mark! Glad you/she like it!!
Ola Peggy, Always fun to watch you work through issues and end up with a beautiful piece. Love the blue accent. Best wishes on your walk. Alzheimer's is nasty. Seen too many friends and family waste away and the impact it has on the families that are impacted.
Thanks, Todd! So true about Alzheimer’s. It is the most difficult “long goodbye.”
Beautiful bowl! I like that you stop and we can see the grain and bark as the bowl progresses.
👍🏻😊
Nice work Peggy. Lots of people would not have tried to save the piece. Cudos for diving back into it, its a lovely bowl. Pledge on the way.
Awe, thanks so much. I appreciate that! (The kind words and the pledge) 💜
Peggy, you do a great job, easy to understand , and you look good doing it. Best wishes to you. Thanks for sharing
Thank you!! ✌️
Like how you stuck with it Peggy
Thanks, Tim!
As always, beautiful bowl. Thanks for sharing. Good luck with the fund-raiser, very worthy cause.
Thanks, Glen!
I donated to the Alzheimer's fund. Keep up the good work - that includes your wood turning👍!
Thanks so much!!
SO much beauty and character! Love the pop of blue too!
Thanks!!!! 😎✌️
Welcome back Penny! Another masterpiece! Cheers from Iraly!
Thanks you.
I think the blue epoxy with that dark grain pattern just pops the piece Peggy! Got to order some more Ack's, got a piece of black Walnut calling to me to be turned, also some more Pecan. It has just been too hot to go out in the shop here in GA even with A/C running it's hot.
Thanks, Jane!! It’s been hot in Maine so I can’t even imagine how hot it’s been there!
Very beautiful artwork
Thanks very much ✌️
Beautiful bowl. I love the pop of blue.
Thanks, April!
Looks nice, Peggy. That entire pith area adds a lot of interest to the bowl.
Bill
I think so too. Thanks, Bill!
I'm a year behind in my Watch Later list, mostly because I don't want to skip anything. But I also am passionate about Alzheimer's disease (my dad passed away from it in December 2019). " The Long Good-Bye" is right.
💜
Really nice job, Peggy! 💜
Thanks 😊
That is a beautiful bowl Peggy. Awesome work
Thanks so much 😊
I hope this comment finds you happy and healthy. You seem a bit low-energy in this video, compared to others. I do hope that isn't indicative an illness. I enjoy watching you turn. God bless you and yours.
[Edited to rephrase]
Thanks. I’m good. Just tired when I did the voiceover, I think! Thanks for checking though!! 😊✌️
Great bowl Peggy.
Thanks!
Looks great! Love the blue resin!
🙏✌️👍🏻
I watched my Grandfather decline with alzheimer's and ultimately loose that battle. Paratrooper that helped defeat Germany in WW2. 5'6" tall and tough as nails. That was no way for a strong, successful, powerful man to die.
Thank you for what you are doing to help.
May God Bless you.
And....... I like the bowl. The bark inclusion, resin and natural character of the bowl, blended very well. Good job.
Keep up the good work my friend
👏 👍
Thanks for sharing. Cheers to your Grandfather and thankful for his service.
I love watching you create your turnings.
You said your from lubec, my great aunt taught school there. Mrs bate. I have fond memories of visiting lubec. Thank you for your work it's beautiful and inspiring
That is awesome! I'll ask my parents is they knew or knew of her. What was her first name?

Beautiful - and a great cause!

Nice bowl. Glad you talked about the wax having more carnauba. I still have the old formula but look forward to the even better finish of the new.
Cool! You’ll love it!
Beautiful bowl Peggy I really like that new Ack's Carnuba wax and the old was great to keep bring us the great works of Art you are truly one of the beast ❤️
Thanks, Tim!
Beautiful like always
😎✌️
Another great project!
Thanks, Laura✌️
Turned out great. Awesome 👍

Beautiful bowl ♥️
Thanks! ✌️
Very Nice and well Done!
Thanks, Marshall!
Lovely work as always
Thanks, Robert! ✌️
I just blew up my first bowl last week. Glad you had a better outcome.
Thanks 😊 hope you’re okay!
Beautiful bowl Peggy, shame about the mortise but no wood turner gets through life without it happening a few times. I've been following you for years from my other account but as I am starting on the TY journey I thought I would subscribe again. Good luck with the fundraising a very worthy cause. I'm from the UK and support a few local charities raising money for similar work. All the best, Mike
Thanks, Mike!! ✌️
Very beautiful. ✌️
Thanks!!! ✌️
Very beautiful
Thanks very much 😎
Peggy
Your cinematography, narration, and stage presence are very good.
I think that if you added significant complexity to your work then your subscribers would skyrocket.
If you can find the time and energy to do this I think that you will find the effort worthwhile 🐱
Thanks for the advice. I think you might be right.
As a Teknatool employee, we fully support you using Nova chucks.. :D
Sweet! Thanks!
Beautiful job…
Thanks 😊
Love that splash of blue. It makes such a nice bit in contrast to the beauty of the wood’s natural colors. Also, love the bark that you left on the outside. Indeed, some cool character, like your said.
Agreed. Thanks!!! ✌️
love it you are great xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Thank you so much!
very nice!!!!!!!!!
Thank you!!! ✌️😊
Looks great and I'm glad the bowl didn't take you out 👍👍
Haha, right??!
Love Acks. I’ll have to try out the new polisher/restorer. Nice little bowl. Love the dark streak in it
Thanks!
Love to watch your videos. keep them coming. I vote your mortise failed because it was too thin. I don't do many mortises becasue I think they can be dislodged easier than a tenon if there is a catch. I make my depth so that the mortise is deeper than the foot. That gives extra holding power on the bowl. Balance depends on the uniformity of the wood. If it has knots, holes, nails, rotten wood as in your case, it will never balance well especially if the defect is at the edge. Next time you add sandsealer , let it dry, then denib with 4-0 steel wool. It will come out shiny and slick like u just used the Ack's abrasive paste.
Very nice
Thanks 😊
Lovely bowl Peggy and a good save along with a lovely finish, well done and thanks!
Cheers Al
Thanks, Al!
Very nice, if you are not learning you are not living
Very true!
I donated already. Myself I do ‘Light the Night’ (an Leukemia and Lymphoma organization event) as I’m a survivor of leukemia
Thank you very much! Great to support causes you care about.
Very nicely done Peggy good save and an outstanding finish project....Thanks for sharing this part of your life with all of us...
Thanks very much!! ✌️
Beautiful work Peggy 👏! The resin made a nice touch. Really enjoy watching you turn on the lathe. Take care and GOD BLESS 🙏!
Thank you!
The 10 steps to any woodturning project: Cut, Turn, Sand, Sand, Sand, Sand, Sand, Sand. Sand, Apply finish.
Exactly!!
Another great video and another beautiful bowl. The inclusions and the touch of blue are nice. Thanks for the video.
Thanks very much ✌️
Another beautiful bowl Peggy, really love the brain and touch of color! Thank you for your work with Alzheimer’s ….. Very close to home as my wife has FTD, another form of Dementia 🥰🤠
Thanks, Randy. So sorry to hear about your wife’s diagnosis. It’s a tough disease for sure. Thinking of you both, as I know how hard it can be.
Lovely Bowl Peggy, even though it tried to escape. I think we've all been there with work coming off the Lathe. I don't think having a deeper mortice would have helped, seeing as it cracked as you pointed out. A deeper mortice would have produced a deeper crack, and I think that piece was going to crack like that due to the outward pressure of the mortice. A Tenon would have been better, but hey, it's about learning, and if you don't learn from every turn then it's worth doing.
Exactly!!! Thanks for watching ✌️
Great job Peggy! Looks beautiful! Nice save also!!!
Thanks!
Peggy, you got to love how wood has a mind of its own! :)) Great save by the way. This is another beautiful piece. My dad passed from Alzheimer's a few years ago. I will be donating to your walk. Great job on the bowl
Thank you. Sorry about your Dad. Alzheimer’s is rough. On the person AND on the family. 💜
@@PFWoodturning Thank you. I did get to spend a lot of quality time with him before he passed. I am glad to see you are doing things like this. It means a lot to a lot of people.
Beautiful bowl Peggy, well done! 😀
Thanks very much 😊
I like the inclusions and the resin. Nice work Peggy and thank you for sharing 🌞
Thanks very much!
On some of your works maybe make the bottom of your work the size of the screw in arbor until you get some major weight off of your work piece.
What I am talking about is your base you cut out for your clamp, so just cut it out for the screw in arbor instead and secure it with screws. Can hide the holes with filler.
Great looking project but you scared me when it let loose.
Be Safe
👍🏻 thanks!!
👍
😎✌️
Great bowl as always! How do you sand by hand without leaving scratches on the end grain? I am having issues with that and end up needing to use power sander
I'll chime in on this one; I use a heavy grit like 80 grit to start on end grain even if it's fairly smooth and go through the grits progressively to @ 600 grit. That continual progression will file down the tool marks/scratches. If you can, use a power sander to start.
@@crocuscreekwoodworks thanks!
Yes. What he said. 👆
What model is your lathe? Is it the 24 36? I'm looking to upgrade my lathe.
1836
Can you send link to your fund raiser. Thanks
Thanks, it has finished, but I appreciate the support. Thanks!
Why do you always manage to make a bowl much better than me?
LOL. I don’t!
Did I miss something again, why wouldn't you true up the outside before hollowing it, at least the second time you've done this. Confused. Gotta ask, thanks for your videos
No worries. Well, it was trued up. Then the foot cracked and it was unbalanced again…and I didn’t want to take too much diameter off the bowl, so I decided to take some weight off of it by starting to hollow.
what I don't like about your videos is that you don't hear the sound of the tool but only that you talk. most wood turning videos let you hear this. this is what we want to hear!
I disagree completely
@@reuvengruber7139
If you look at many wood touring channels on RUclips, you hear the sound of the tool!
Gets a bit like when you watch a car video where the car sound is taken away and you only hear music or someone talking!
You are interested in looking at wood touring and also want to hear the tool and not just someone who speaks. Your attention is dragged away from the video and more towards what is being said!
Okay if the person in the video stops with what he does and talks! But not that al sound is gone and you only hear someone talking, it irrene me!
I have come to look at wood touring not to listen to one who speaks throughout the video!
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll see if I can turn the tool volume up a bit
@@PFWoodturning
Most wood turning videos I've watched, you ONLY hear the sound of the tool throughout the video. When the person in the video has to explain something, he stops what he is doing and then says what he wants to say or turns off the sound on the video to say what he wants to say.
BUT you should not talk through most of the video or play music throughout the video.
The video sound should have approx. just as loud as the advertisement!
