Love the vase.
I know your busy but I'd love to see a video each week.
Gives us all something to look forward to.
Working on it!
Hi 👋, PF, Great looking 👀 peace of art, well done 👍, Patience pays off in the long run, ❤, Phil from the moulin France.
Thanks, Phil!!
Great firewood save Peggy. Not a lover of working resin myself, I don’t have the patience 🤣🇬🇧🇬🇧
Thanks 👍
Very beautiful vase Peggy.
Thanks so much 😊
Beautiful result from the Mahoney’s!
Love the Mahoney's!
Always look forward to your videos Peggy and this was another great turning! I really like the contrast of the epoxy to the natural beauty of the wood itself 🥰🤠✌🏼
Thank you so much!
Such a beautiful piece!!
Thank you so much!
a serious effort the finally lovely piece as usual.
Thank you kindly!
Great project, and YES!!!! Tuck tape does the job!
Yes it does!
Beautiful vase 🤎🧡💛❤️
Thanks, Maddie!
You have redefined the phrase “white knuckling it” Great work, excellent video, entertaining.
Thanks!
Beautiful vase
Thank you so much 😊
Another great project !!
Thank you!
Spectacular as always!
Thank you! Cheers!
Love the vase excellent ❤
Thank you! 😊
Fantabulous!
Thank you!
That looks really good
Thanks!
Very nice turning! Looks like a lot of work, but the final product looks great!
Thank you very much!
I have to admire your courage in working this log. With that many and large cracks i would have been tempted to just burn it. And missed out on a beautiful piece.
Thanks 👍
Beautiful piece.
Many thanks!
Yes, I do like it! The blue resin goes well with the wood. It looks like a rather large acorn! I'm particikarly glad you showed the use of resin on discrete cracks. These occur in a number of my works in progress. So, it's good to see how it's done. Thank you!
Awesome! Thank you!
Beautiful, I especially love the differing colours of the wood and the resin just adds to the overall beauty 👍
Thank you very much!
I second your praise for Tuck Tape...amazing stuff! Beautiful vase, too. Actually, I envision it as a great holder for kitchen stuff...big wooden spoons, spatulas, etc.
Great idea!
This is a very nice piece. I really like it
Thank you very much!
Nice vase, PF. It is good to see that you have some sponsors to your channel. Your hard work is beginning to pay off. Also, the ad ponsorships go to show that you have gained trust with advertisers. That means you are doing a good job.
But, I wish Carter & Son tools would offer a sponsorship since you have gone out of your way of promoting their tools for quite some time FREE of charge and out of the goodness of your heart because you believe in their products. At the least, they could say THANK YOU.
Thanks. Carter and Son did send me a couple tools a year or so ago. They're great!
@PFWoodturning That was nice. Last time I heard from you about sponsoring or getting stuff from Carter & Sons was a couple of years ago when you first mentioned desiring them to be a sponsor. Glad you got something! The tools were a very nice gesture.
Very Uniqe looking, realy nice Peg!
Thanks!
Great job! Love it!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great work!
Thanks!
So nice...thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
Looks cool Peggy I did not know you had one of the chipmunks on retainer for voice over for your total boat resin sounds cool blessings
I do!
Love it!
Thanks!!
Beautiful juxtaposition of blue, light and dark wood. Your attention to details and seeing possibilities in a fractured lump of wood are amazing. Wishing you and your family a blessed holiday weekend filled with gentle seasonally appropriate weather and restful evenings together. Peace Peggy
Thanks, Cat!!!
Beautiful piece…love the touches of color and the shape….the variations in the grain color really add to it’s beauty…love it…
Thank you very much!
I do similar work filling long cracks with resin, and find filling from the end grain traps a lot of air causing voids. My method now is to rough turn to a parallel cylinder, ie no curves. Lay the log flat and fill each crack one at a time. When pouring I agitate the resin in the crack with a long stiff wire. Still get those annoying 'pin' holes but nowhere near as bad as those you demonstrate here. Coincidentally, much of my current output is cherry, being as I have so much of it at the moment. A fellow turner informed me that cherry is prone to develop fine line cracks during sanding, which I have experienced more than once. Like most woods heat can cause this but this guy is of the opinion that cherry is worse than most. I'm inclined to agree! Anyway, I love your end result, cherry is so well figured and the pieces I have at home mellow with age and the grain becomes more defined. Gotta love a bit of cherry!!
Yes, I don't get a lot of cherry, so it's nice once in a while. Thanks for watching.
Cool 😮
😎✌️
Resin is a great saver of cracked wood very nice Peggy
Yes! Thank you!
beautiful
Thank you! 😊
Nice job, love it. 👍
Thanks 👍
Love it
😎
You continue to inspire me to try new techniques. I always look for your videos. This one was great, as always. Thank you for sharing.
Awesome! Thank you!
A technique that I routinely use for epoxy resin filling that helps minimize the voids (without using a pressure or vacuum pot) is to heat the wood around and in the cracks with a heat gun (not to extreme, but you want the cracks warm), apply the sealing tape, then heat the epoxy resin with the gun as you slowly pour it in. This significantly refuces the viscosity of the resin (making it act more like water) and the capillary action of the small cracks will draw the watery epoxy in, rather than resisting being filled. You do not want to use fast cure hardener and never heat the epoxy to a temperature where it starts to smoke. It works well for me to use a heat gun aimed ar the stream of epoxy as it is leaving my mixing container. Warming the wood first ensures that the epoxy doesn't cool too fast as it makes it's way into the cracks.
Great tips, thanks!
Great use of resin to rescue an un-turnable piece of wood. Beautiful piece. It's an amazing result using just tuck tape, star bond and skill :).
Thank you! Cheers!
Great job
Thanks!
Beautiful. I like the blue and Green stripes. 😻
Thank you! 😊
Beautiful work, Peggy. The cherry grain is so awesome, you picked the right knot! The colors of epoxy you used were perfect, and really made the contrast with the grain pop. Your instruction is as always top-notch. Cheers... 🙂
Thank you! Cheers!
Very nice! The blue epoxy with the cherry wood is so pretty.
Thank you!
I struggle with the EWT hollowing tools sometimes. I have a set of John Jordans if you can still get them (I think his wife still sells them) They are HSS tips and can do a great job with aggressive hollowing without the chatter you may get with EWT on harder woods. That said, I think the EWT #1 is the best hollowing tool they make.
Thanks for the info!
Very nice
Thanks!
I like it! I admire your talent, even more so your patience.
Thank you so much 😀
Very pretty. Love the blue accents.
Thank you!
Turned out really nice I like the resin colour too great combination
Thanks so much 😊
This vase is so pretty! Nice job, Peggy. 💜
Thank you! 😊
I kinda dig it !!
😎
Love it! you did a fantastic job.
Thanks!
Peace out. Nice vase, Peggy. I’ve just turned two vases using a piece of 350 year old oak beam. I also used tape and resin to fill in the gaps. As always , thank you for sharing. 🌞
Very cool! Thanks.
Really like the vase with the blue. Great job
Thanks.
I like watching your videos that's a nice vase came out real nice.
Thank you! Cheers!
Another lovely piece. I like the way you filled the voids with epoxy. I have used water jugs, pails of all sorts of sizes and shapes to fill in the voids in the past, but your way certainly has very little waste
Thank you! Cheers!
Great looking bowl. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
The Great and Beautiful Vase! 😊 Love it! Cheers
Thanks so much 😊
Your hair looks nice today
lol
It turned out Beautiful 👍🏻❤️
Thanks, Pat!
Nice turn, great use of resin. Have you tried a Spindle Roughing Gouge, I found them very effective for this type of turning. Great modelling job too.
Thanks. Yes, I've tried a spindle roughing gouge.
Very nice vase but getting all the cracks filled with resin looks a bit time consuming! Nice color and contrast, well done and thanks!
Cheers Al
Thank you very much!
Nice
Thanks
That looks amazing...the markings and colours look great 😁💙
Thanks so much 😊
Very nice!
Great job, Peggy. Te vase looks beautiful. Have you ever considered making a hot glue "dam" around the cracks instead of using the tape? Would probably allow you to fill the cracks in a single pour with less mess. I've done it a number of times with good success. Just a thought.
Yes I have, I tend to have better luck with Tuck Tape.
I think with all the work you put into that, you could rightfully call it a "vahze". Nice job!
Haha! Yes!
❤ maravilhoso, parabéns
Merci!
Very nice video and very nice result. Do you worry about bubbles in the resin? How do you keep them at bay?
I like the part when you are hiding behind the very beautiful bowl, very nice turn.
Lol. Thanks, Mark!
Nice to see a female turning! Love the piece!
Thank you! Cheers!
Epoxy does not “dry”. It polymerizes. Or cures.😅. Thanks for sharing.
Would a large, thick. rounded bowl scraper be useful for the final steps of hollowing a vessel like this? For example, the
Hurricane Turning Tools, HTT-256W, M2 HSS, 1 1/2" (x 3/8") Heavy Duty Half Round Scraper, or something similar.
Thanks for the video. Love the project. 👍👍
Probably, I'll have to look into it.
Once again -- A Peggy Masterpiece!!!
Save a Peggy, buy a Vase
😎✅
I think it looks nice, Peggy. Any bets with your brother about the channel these days?
Bill
50k by 12/31/23. I’m losing….
Would you consider going over your experience with your lathe? Good things? Bad things? I'm still troubleshooting, but I think my lathe might have died this morning. I've been looking at Laguna REVOs for several months - just haven't quite worked up the nerve to pull the trigger. Thanks!
I’ll consider it for another video. But for the price, it’s a solid lathe.
Good
☹🇬🇧
✌️
Hi Peggy. I was wondering...once you fill all the cracks with epoxy and ca glue, can a vase like this actually hold water? Do you recommend that? Thanks for another great video.
I recommend using a glass insert, that way it will last longer.
Makes a lot of sense. Thanks.@@PFWoodturning
I am kind of curious why you don't use a bucket and pressure pot to force the resin in deep. Yes, it is a mess turning it back down to mostly wood.
I've done that before. I just prefer this way.
Love this piece, but then I'm partial to blue.
👍🏻✅😎
It was hard to tell at the end of the video. Were there still cracks in the end of the video. If there were are you concerned that it will continue to crack?
Yes, there was still a small crack. I filled it with CA glue off camera.
👍🏻👍🏻😘😘🌺🌺

What type and model camera do you use.
My iPhone.
I enjoy the videos@@PFWoodturning
Peggy love your Voice on Total Boat Add. And the Vase 🏺 is Has pretty as You. Peggy on your videos can you flip the Video so when we see your Tshirt the lettering is not Backwards ? Thanks and Peace Be With You.
Yes, thanks.
Hey, my friend. Still remember me? It has been nearly three months since you received the TTS20PRO we cooperated with, but the video has not yet been seen online, and you cannot be contacted by email. Have you completed the production of the video?
I’ve used it in a video.
When standing in front of your lathe, the video is mirror image, so all writing is backwards, Ariat, Acks, etc.
✅
boy can talk fast when talking about Total boat LOL. P.S. we look foreword to your Videos
Haha!!!
There were massive cracks in the piece. A lot of people would not have turned it for that reason.
Yes indeed!
Love it!
Thanks!!
