Hi Peggy: I watched you for the first time today and subscribed. I could tell you were quite bothered by prior comments people had left. People will always comment and some just have to be judgmental. It's because they just have a bad nature. When you are critical it should be in a constructive way and aimed appropriately. You live in a great part of the country. I wish you well.
I find the process that you and a few others I watch fascinating. I actually watch 4 turners, including yourself, as soon as I see the notification.
Awesome, thanks!
I enjoy watching but at the same time I watch to learn either from mistakes or successes. There’s something to be learned from everyone if you pay attention. 😁
✌️
Hi Peggy, I watch for fun, although I often learn something as well. I also watch to support a fellow female turner!
Awesome! Thank you!✌️✌️😎😎
Nice bowl! I did the epoxy crack fill on a large bowl from a Madrone burl for some close friends who lost everything in the 2017 fires in California. I went to their property and found a badly burned madrone stump and dug it up. The heat expansion from the fire was explosive to the wet burl and it was filled with cracks. Because of the dark red color of the wood I went with black epoxy to fill the cracks and the bowl came out surprisingly good. The bowl graces the entry table of their new home. As with you it took several tries to get the cracks filled.
Nice! That’s a nice gesture for your friends too.
Beautifully done. You are the creator. You see the defects and use them to bring out the beauty. Thank you for sharing. Peace out
✌️
I really enjoy your videos. I have been tuning for over 20 years. I like to watch other turners to see what techniques or tooling they use.
Thank you very much!
Watching to learn, new hobby for me. I have lots of Live Oak in my yard and Ashe Juniper and I am dealing with cracks. I'm filling with epoxy and activated charcoal I harvest from old water filters with a piece of sand paper. (I'm cheap.) I started with 5 min. epoxy but that sets so fast I'm just now trying medium cure Total Boat now. You Tube turners are my main teachers!
Nice! Thanks for commenting!
Nice job! Like you, I watch wood turning videos therapeutically. I will never be able to afford the equipment nor the space to try my hand at wood turning so I live vicariously through those that can. I am so envious of those that have the equipment and space to pursue woodworking.
Thanks and I've just subscribed. Looking forward to viewing more of your videos! 👍
Thanks 👍 I appreciate that!!
Watch to learn. I just am getting started. Finished my first bowl
I watch to learn, but yea it is therapeutic when I can't get out and turn something of my own. I like seeing how turners are dealing with cracks. Even though I process my wood to prevent it, I get lots of cracking on the wood I am drying, and I still want to see it turned into something beautiful.
Cool, thanks for watching!
I watch for the therapeutic factor as well. I appreciate you sharing your talents. 😊
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for explaining which tool you are using. It really helps me as a NEW turner. Great response for those who didn't know what you were doing or just wanted to criticize.
Glad it was helpful!
Hi there...thank you for the video... I am in the process of turning a bowl from a "messy" burl. I can see there are cracks in it and was looking for ways to use epoxy mid-way through a project. Your video showed me! Thanks again!!
I have been turning for about7or 8 years and I like to see what other turners are doing. I can always learn something new. I like that you narrate. I dont particularly care to watch "silent" turners. I always want to know what finishes are being used. Good videos please keep them coming
Hi Peggy i watch for fun and to learn and just pure enjoyment. you are an inspiration Brett
Thanks so much!
Hey Peggy
I enjoy your videos because you always offer some good turning points. I am fairly new to turning and am hungry for my own improvement. Thanks for what you do.
I am so glad you are back turning
Thanks, me too!
Hi Peggy, I started turning a couple of years ago but still consider myself a beginner. I watch your videos to learn and to enjoy another turner. All the best Jenny🇦🇺
Thanks, Jenny!!! Happy turning. 😎
I've been turning for years. I enjoy watching other people turning too. Your bowl came out nice!
Thanks 👍
I just started wood turning. Easy to get lost in it. Watching to learn
😎✅✌️ definitely. Have fun!
Hello peggy I'm watching from Ireland I do woodturning to but you're videos are good to watch
Awesome! Thank you!
I discovered the therapeutic quality of turning videos during the pandemic, and I have kept watching. Maybe someday I'll have a chance to try my hand at it too!
Awesome, thanks for commenting ✌️
I watch the videos for the pleasure of seeing something beautiful and useful come out of a block of wood. I’ve always been interested in wood turning but never had the equipment or time. Now that I’m retired I don’t have the ability to stand for any length of time. So watch you make these pretty bowls and such is satisfying in its own right. Just like this project, I’m never disappointed.
Thank you very much!
I enjoy watching your videos and I'm a turner too. I'm just learning about turning bowls. I turn pens and different little projects now
Cool, thanks! ✌️
I watch as a way to live vicariously through the turners I watch. I am hoping to buy a lathe someday so I figure that watching these videos will put a base of knowledge in my head.
✌️😎
I love to turn. I’m trying to learn to use epoxy for cracks in my bowls.
You can do it!
It turned out beautifully! So glad you weren’t hurt when it broke. We’ve all done that from time to time. It’s really easy for people to be negative, but all’s well that ends well.
Thanks very much!! 😎
I watch for all 3 reasons! I've turned for a while, and enjoy watching people on RUclips who turn as well as to learn and get ideas for new and different techniques. Seeing that finished, It's clear how deep and plentiful those cracks were! It came out really nice with the colored epoxy.
I appreciate that!
Hey chica, consider negative comments from the perspective of whether thet're your spouse, parents or employer. I know I learn from everything you do a video about. You go girl!
Thanks!!!!
Wow, that really came out nice! Well done
Thank you so much 😀
Nice bowl, the resin fill looks good
Thanks 👍
I watch for fun. Great way to relax.
Glad you enjoy it!
Nice simple bowl, looks great. I haven't used epoxy to fill large cracks yet, but will soon.
Thanks 👍
I watch to get ideas for my own turning projects
Cool!
Hi 👋, Peggy, I hope you are keeping safe and well, a great looking 👀 bowl, I have seen turner’s put duck 🦆 tape around there projects, I would not classed me as a wood turner, but I have done some in the past, I’m retired, specialist Joiner carpenter cabinet maker. I have had things flow apart on the lathe, I was trying to make a thin walled bowl, and because of the centrifugal force it tried to or did open up and disintegrated, I think I might be going too fast, luckily I’ve got a face shield on so no damage done, I do find watching yourself and other people woodturning it is very therapeutic relaxing 😎, 😂 . I think that you should invest in a smock to protect yourself from damage, it is very nice to seeing you as you are, 😂 , that is because I don’t see anybody four weeks at a time, as I live by myself in the French countryside, so please stay safe. Keep up the great work the bowl looks amazing , I hoping to buy some resin later in the year. For some wood turning projects, I have 2 Lathes a Wadkin RS8 and Kontour 1500A . I can’t seem to get myself motivated, to go and do anything. But love, watching people like yourself doing projects.. stay safe. Keep up the great work. Look forward to next project.. Phil from the moulin France
Thanks, Phil. I hope everything is great in the moulin France! 🇫🇷
@@PFWoodturning Hi 👋, Peggy, thank you for your reply, The moulin still needs a lot money and work done on it , the biggest problem is the roof, it as storm damage from last September, it is a very big job, because of the size of the moulin it is going to take a long time, my ex I purchased it back in 2013. It was an empty shell most of the beams on the first floor. I had to replace them laying new floors are built the bedrooms, shower rooms and bathrooms, large kitchen, utility room, lounge and dining room, some of the walls still need plaster, boarding and skimming, I have quite a large garden will it runs alongside the river that used to power the moulin, I’ve been living permanently in here now for the last four years by myself,
The idea of the property that I had just recently people could come here and I could teach them how to make furniture or even just relaxing in the garden. Hopefully something for the future . One of my biggest problems is I don’t speak French, .
Keep up the great work, stay safe, I look 👀 forward to seeing your next project. Phil from the moulin France
Beautiful bowl, I love woodworking, I watch all types of woodworking channels, from sculpting, fine wood furnishings, wood turning, construction. ❤
Awesome, thank you!
Great job Peggy
I have been turning for a few years now and love it. It’s always a pleasure to watch you turn, l learn a lot.Peace
Thank you so much!
I use JB Weld 5 min clear in these cases and it works and looks great. I work it in and soon it starts getting thicker so I have no waste.
✌️👍🏻😎
Fantastic job! You are right not to let legends in their own minds get to you. I really enjoy your videos and learn something with each one.
I appreciate that!
Love the bowl!
Thanks, Carol!
Lots of trolls and know it alls out there, keep the videos coming. I know some will not turn a cracked piece of wood but if I did that , I would not have anything to turn. They act like wood grows on trees! Nice helmet!
Watching for fun and learn. Been turning for 15 years but I learn something from everyone. I really like the ideas people come up with.
Thanks 👍
I have turned some through the years but only small bowls. I like watching your work to learn and dream of turning larger pieces when I have the opportunity.
Awesome, thank you!
Another beautiful bowl Peggy! 👍🏻 I learn a lot watching you turn! Oh… nice hair cut too! Thank you so much for sharing! ✌️
Thanks so much 😊
Hey Peggy nice bowl. It came out very pretty. I turn wood for a hobby and a destresser as well. I watch for several reasons, love wood turning videos in general, love to see different ways people put their personal touches on and I've just started putting up videos on my channel and I watch for ways that different ones do it so I can get ideas on making mine my own. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much!
Great job love the bowl . If only those that are critical had the courage you have ! Keep being you . I've learn alot watching your videos. Keep up the good work .😊
Thanks 👍
Nice job 👍
Thanks 👍
I watch because i am hobby wood turner looking for inspiration on how to use cracks
Cool, thanks for watching!
Peggy, Thanks for the work you do with the videos. I have learned so much from watching them (actually everything since this has been my only classes). Also love to see all the dyes and finishes you utilize.
Glad you like them!
Hi, I’ve been turning for awhile and I was glad to find another woodturner in Maine 😊 I always learn something! What do you use for sanding sealer? Is it shellac and denatured alcohol?
Awesome, thanks! For sanding sealer I use Zinnsers brand and I mixed 70/30 with denatured alcohol
Very nice! The epoxy pour before turning the inside is interesting. Do you think it wastes less epoxy that way? I have some wood I would like to turn, but the cracks are a concern to me. I have tried just using some thick ca as I go, but color choice is limited. I like the green.
Not sure if it wastes less, but it works for me.
I have been turning for several years, but I think that there is always more to learn so I watch turning videos such as yours. You are always fun to watch.
Cool, thanks
I am just a new comer into this. Really enjoyed it. I have a question about the tools you used. Which ones did you used. Have you ever used the carbide cutters and if so, do they really work?. I just got one but i find it very difficult to control. What are your thoughts about this?
Anyways, i loved your video and yes, i did subscribed waiting for a new video.Thank you so much.
Hernando
Hi there. Thank you. Yes, I have carbide tools as well as traditional tools, which you see me use in the videos. There is a link on the video description to carter and son tools, which is where I get my turning tools.
When I find a large crack, I fill it full of ca glue and clamp it. It stays together through the entire process. It may crack again after I'm done but it just adds character.
When you put it on your head my first thought was, time for a haircut? hehehe
Thanks!
Muy bueno
Learner. Hoping my wife will let me get a lathe soon
👍🏻😎
You are so correct about keyboard warriors. They are usually wrong.
😎😎✅
What blades do you use on your band saw?
I’ve tried them all. Laguna and Timberwolf mostly, though.
I clicked on this for the blond with ample bussom😊
I turn.
✌😎
Always ready to learn something new
Right on!
Another great job Peggy. Take no notice of the critics. You are responsible for your own safety and you obviously know how and when to take a risk 👍👍
Thank you so much!
I’ve been turning for a number of years but am always looking for tips and techniques. Plus I just enjoy to see what others are doing. Good work Peggy.
Awesome! Thank you!
An astute observation related to people hiding behind their keyboards and trash-talking you. Call them out, tell them to go to another channel, and then block them. I’ll subscribe to make up for the body's lost. I like the video.
Thanks very much! 😎
I am a 72 year old novice, i really appreciate all you RUclipsrs I learn so much from you and the rest
😎✌️
Same from someone 22 years your junior! RUclips taught completely!
Want to thank you for this very interesting and informative video. I rather enjoy tackling wood with cracks or other flaws, and the challenge to me is number 1 safety and secondary produce a one of a kind creation. It’s Tornado season here in Oklahoma, so there is no need to purchase wood. Thanks again.
Thanks for watching! I hope the tornados bring you something good!
As for all the critics, no way to make everybody happy all the time. Your doin a great job and being very safe while doin it!! And anybody who doesn't like it,thats their problem!! ✌️!!!
😎✌️
Always do what you want to. You know the risk and are prepared for disappointment or wood flying of the lath. Always watch your videos to learn something new as I do with other turners.
✌️👍🏻
I watch for both learning n jus cause it's relaxing. Also it's great to see fellow female turners. Not many of us out there !!!
I did various woodworking, including turning, some decades ago. I ran a little handyman business and had a commercial shop with all the tools. Woodworking was a hobby mostly, and very relaxing. Now it's a spectator sport. You are very likeable.
FYI. It looks like you are using drywall screws to hold bowl on lathe . If I am right , that’s a HUGE MISTAKE. Those type of screws are NOT designed to be used like that. You are running the risk of them failing in mid turning. I respectfully suggest you use WOOD SCREWS with a thicker shaft. Good luck.
So beautiful in all its simplicity. 😺
I love watching all kinds of turning videos just for fun and to relax my mind. I would actually want to start wood turning now that I recently retired. But I live in an apartment and have absolutely no facilities or knowledge of how to start. I will continue watching it on RUclips instead.
And I am so happy to finally have found a female wood turner! Wow! I thought I was the only female interested in this 😸
Awesome! Thank you!
Hi Peggy. I`m Jørgen from Denmark. Have seen your videos for 2 years. I’m learning😉😁
That's great! Thanks!
Great video and beautiful bowl! I started to watch wood turning as it was somehow so soothing on my overthinking brain. Eventually with time and opportunity I bought a school bus and have converted it into a lil wood workshop. I am still very much a newbie and watch to learn and for inspiration. I will say, something about your style (what you cut, when, where, how) is particularly pleasing on the brain! Perhaps the sped up footage helps. Makes the wood look to just fall away effortlessly! If only real-time was that easy hey? haha Now that I've done some turning myself I have new appreciation to just how much thought, skill, tools, experience etc.. goes into turning!
I enjoy most videos I watch, and learn something from them also. I am just in the process of setting up a new lathe. I would like to get into boxes etc, . I have quite a few health issues but do nejoy doing things with my hands and brain.Have wood carved for years, animals, birds and a few fish also have done a large number of masks of natives and other people.
I’m watching because I’m new to turning and want to learn about turning. I have material that’s cracked but wanted to see if I could still use it with epoxy.
I'm just starting out turning. Been woodworking for years. My question is... do you have a tool sharpening video? I want to get good at that. Half the battle is sharp tools. Thanks.
Don't use epoxy resin to make dishes you intend to eat off of. It's fine to make them if they're merely decorative, though.
Like to watch different Turner's techniques that fits my style nice bowl
Good for you to ignore the armchair turning safety police. Only the person in direct contact with the piece knows the level of risk with that piece. I’m a small woman who turns, so to watch another woman turn is great because a woman will often find an approach to handling heavy items that I can use as opposed to brute strength.
Watch to learn, I am a new turner. Your videos are very helpful, ignore the internet trolls.
Thanks, will do!
Been turning a little bit for a few years but now really getting into it and setting up a new shop, so i like to se what other people are doing. PS. i am in southern Maine as well.
Makes a great helmet 😂
I find watching turning videos very relaxing and I’m always looking to pick up a new tip or two.
Thanks for what you do 👍😎
Glad you like them!
Watching to see how to add epoxy to cracks Learning nice job
Good to see a woman away from the sewing machine and creating such good things. Keep it up Ron
Thank you, I will
It turned out amazing. I have several pieces with cracks in them and was trying to figure out how to save them. I’ll have to Pick up some epoxy.

Very nice work. I liked you responds to the cracked wood critic. I too turn wood. Those cracks can be worry some. But like you said, We take precautions and we know the risk. The bowl turned out beautifully, and the green epoxy was a nice choice.
Thanks 👍
HI .I havent seen you on here in a long time?? Are you ok??? HOPe to see a new video soon.
Im not a wood turner, I just enjoy the artistic process and finished projects!
Thanks for watching!
I like to watch you do your craft. Great job!
...you do such beautiful work...!
I've just started turning, but I watch for all the reasons...👍
Matt
Awesome! Thank you!
When I started turning a couple of years ago, I watched all turning videos I could find, but now I subscribe to so many, I don't have time to watch everything. So I watch only those such as yours in which the turners talk to me and explain what they're doing and why.
Technical note: When you use your phone in selfie mode, it's a mirror image and all text is backwards.
✌️👍🏻
Very nice. I’m liking the green resin to fill the cracks. Well done.
Thank you! Cheers!
I watch for fun , I used to turn and looking to get back into it
Absolutely beautiful!!!
Thank you so much!
Nice bowl, Peggy. I watch (I'm subscribed) just for the entertainment since I don’t do woodturning.
Bill
Cool, thanks!
Hello Peggy,
You show great control with your tools hence the superb result with the bowl. I also like to fill the natural voids in the yew vases I turn using brass powder reconstituted and applied with CA glue. When sanded up it adds a lovely metallic bling effect. I look forward to your next video. Best of luck.

Thanks very much!! ✌️
I love watching watching woodworking videos..great looking bowl..I am in Athens TX
Thanks 👍
I watch to learn. I like that you do some things differently than I would. I'm looking to upgrade my lathe to a Revo 18/36 or a similar Grizzly.
Cool, thanks!
