Your channel is the bomb! As my hubby and I start our plant based journey, your explanations are so simple to understand. You make learning fun and offer great tips! We will take things slow, track our progress and see where it takes us. My husband loves his red meat, but is willing to try plant based twice a week. He’s tired of being tired. His sister is on a plant based diet and has had noticeable results. She’s not lethargic anymore and her posture has gotten better.

So Happy I found your page. I am struggling struggling. Recently my health has gone down drain. And was put on a lot of meds do you side effects was prescribed more meds. My son in pre med suggested I try holistic medicine. My Dr. Put me on the photogenic diet basically rainbow diet for 3 mths. She said I can eat meat just in moderation. This is my second week first week all in plants yesterday I ate less than 1/2 grilled chicken breast. Felt so bad so decided to try my best to do all veggies. But I am stuck for meals. I work 8-10 he days and have to still get dinner on table for 5 others that live there meat. So I have been eating sides. And it's getting old. I just want real meals. So I found your page and being watched every episode. Thank you for putting this out. Let me tell u prayer works. Because I was like Lord if this is going to help me send me help. I found your pg and my sup is just starting her vegan journey so we are struggling together. I am not alone. Thank you so much.

Good show, Melissa! You hit practically all of my staples. Just two things:
    1. Peanut butter (P.B.) is something you can make at home; you probably forgot to mention that.
    2. Folks need to watch out with store-bought P.B., as some brands have lots of sodium (a danger for folks battling high blood pressure and swelling) and those from the major manufacturers (and more than a few smaller ones) contain lots of sugar- a definite problem for those trying to manage their diabetes.
It would be great if you could do a couple of videos where you show folks how to make their own nut butters (peanut butter is just one) and milk substitutes (like rice milk, oat milk, almond milk and soy milk). I was surprised that you didn't include the milk substitutes along with the P.B.
Apart from this, everything you said was spot-on. Please keep the videos coming!

I like everything on the list. I can only have watermelon when my son is at work. He is allergic to it causing his stomach to churn at the smell of it. I make sure there is no trace of it in the house at lease about two hours before he gets home. With kale, I am unable to find it in my area that I now live in. Was able to find it in Virginia before moving to Oklahoma. So I just settle with fresh spinach. With the potatoes, I like to get the multicolored ones where the purple potatoes are purple inside, the red are red inside and the yellow are yellow inside. One package can give me several meals once quartered and roasted. I also prefer multi-colored carrots and red cabbage. I have found red lentils make a good flat-bread. I have yet to find any green or black lentils. With rice, I like to find not only brown, but also wild, red, purple, and black. I love oats and use them to help with making mini 'meat' loaves. With peanut butter, I prefer to find the ones that don't have added sugars, oils, and other 'chemicals. Salt is okay as a second ingredient. The things I mentioned I usually get while on sale and can last a while. The fresh veggies I can cook ahead and freeze in single serve containers. Thank you for sharing this.

Keeping it real. It's super important to buy organics fruits and vegetables especially when it comes to berries, spinach, kale etc. Buying organic is what makes our food bill high. It's ok for us because it's also important to put good quality food in your body as well. Who wants pesticides in their body which a lot of these fruits and vegetables has because of mass producing.

In general, most people do 2-3 meals a day. Ultimately, you know your body best. Also, what’s most important is that your meals are nutrient dense. Hi Suzan! So sorry to hear. Progress over perfection matters most. More plants or even mostly plants is better than none. Also, get to the root cause and maybe figure out why you can’t tolerate these certain foods. For example, if beans make you super gassy, a tweak may be to soak them overnight and pressure cook them, to make them more tolerable. Wishing you all the best 💜

Don't know where you live, but your shopping prices are at least 100% lower than where I live. Bananas regularly $1.19 for organic. Apples, $2.49 Do you always buy organic?

Hey Mary! These are cheapest options for non-organic plant-based foods. Organic is great, but should never stop you from being able to afford a plant-based lifestyle! 🧡

I can't believe how expensive apples are in the USA 😱😱
    Bananas are more expensive here.
Other fruit is somewhat similar in price.
Edit: OMG 😱 vegetables are soooo expensive there. No wonder people have hard time believing in veganism 🥺

Hey girl!! Yes, these are US prices, lol. Healthy food should be the cheaper option no matter where you are though, right? For the most part, even in the US, most times, a plant based diet is STILL the cheaper option. We do the best we can, with the options we have, wherever we are. Keep choosing your health, regardless! 💜

If I could tolerate eating this wide range of vegan foods, going plant based would be a lot easier. I cannot tolerate grains, peanuts, cashews, beans and oatmeal. Smh! And cabbage must be cooked, nothing raw

I’m sorry to hear that! Still, a lifestyle of more plants or mostly plants is better than none. Remember that it’s progress over perfection that matters most. I’d also go the root cause and try to figure out why these foods trigger a response- and maybe cook them differently (soak overnight and pressure cook). It could possibly make some of the foods more tolerable. Wishing you the best ❤️

Dan "Plant-Man" Buettner: 'Beans, greens, tubers, nuts & grains are the cheapest & most accessible'. The Blue Zones enquiry demonstrates that a WF omnivore diet promotes longevity, rather than PB nonsense.
