Classic heavy metal beats every single other metal genre for me. Here's my list (only 20): - Budgie - In for the Kill!, - Rainbow - Rising, - Judas Priest - Stained Class, - Motorhead - Overkill, - Saxon - Wheels of Steel, - Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden, - Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell, - Tygers of Pan Tang - Wild Cat, - Diamond Head - Lightning to the Nations, - Angel Witch - Angel Witch, - Holocaust - The Nightcomers, - Venom - Welcome to Hell, - Scorpions - Blackout, - Accept - Restless and Wild, - Raven - Wiped Out, - Tank - Filth Hounds of Hades, - Witchfinder General - Death Penalty, - Mercyful Fate - Melissa, - Grim Reaper - See You in Hell, - Satan - Court in the Act.
Nice list... Missing for me: Blind Guardian, Helloween, Warlock / Doro, Cirith Ungol, Grand Magus, Exciter, Anvil, Venator, Queensryche, Visigoth, Portrait.... just to mention a few...And I have found one or two albums in your list to check out!
As far as I’m concerned there are seven main branches: Heavy, Power, Thrash, Death, Black, Folk and Doom. I like these 50 album videos, hope to see more.
I get why Deep Purple arent on the list, but I'd throw on In Rock or Machine Head. To me they are integral parts of understanding the genesis of heavy metal
@@PiotrLangtvedt no, the mark 1 era has nothing to do with metal, mark 2 is right in between hard rock and heavy metal, where as sabbath were completely 100% metal from the beginning
@@leonscoretzka801 You have the view from today's point of view. In the 60s they described The Jimi Hendrix Experience as devils music. And In Rock was already described in English press as "hard as metal" in 1970.
@@leonscoretzka801 It's still all about which criteria you have for what is to considered as metal. For me metal must have a hard edged sound with a lot of guitars in the mix as well as the long soloing parts. The atmosphere is mostly dark or gloomy and the lyrics are more then the usual, often about the things you normally would not sing about. The bands in the 60s had not the equipment to record like the later bands did, but there are a lot of bands in thar period of time that when sounded live they sounded like metal. Cream, Blue Cheer, Vanilla Fudge and Deep Purple played what would be within the criteria for metal, although they didn't sound so in the studio because of the limited sources of that time.
Some albums on your list are a big surprise, like Master Control by Liege Lord and some albums are what i call the usual suspects, i would add two albums to your list, the first is Metalized by a band called Sword and the second is the self titled album of a band called Artch which means Another Return To Church Hill, cheers to you for puting Virgin Steele on your list.
I've always neglected trafitional heavy metal, but just in the recent years I've been really getting into it to the point, where its probably my second favourite metal genre now after black metal. My favourites definitely are Dont Break the Oath, Court in the Act, Ample Destruction, Powerslave and Larmes de Heros by Sortilege (i think its better than metamorphose, cause it is way more emotional and epic). Check out Too Late to Pray by Tyrant if you havent already Questy, its really heavy US Power Metal, but it has the atmosphere of a black metal album almost. Also check out We Stand to Fight by Virtue. Its really heavy and anthemic NWOBHM. Very very underrated i think.
Good timing Questy, How’d you know I was going through the Riot discography right now . Fire Down Under is an awesome album, cover is fucking hilarious Seal mascot but the music is great. I’d probably replace it with Thundersteel though, just think that is the band’s magnum opus.
Holocaust - The Nightcomers (1981) and Dark Star - Dark Star (1981) are definitely missing here. Also, if you include Motley Crue, you cant ignore Ratt and Dokken.
Your list is empty without most important album..Bathory-Bathory..agree with others bands BUT no Bathory on list..damn man..exspecialy when this album is 40 year aniversary...and Megadeth also..Rust in Peace...and some album from Kreator..
Howdy Questy, glad you enjoyed some Heavy Load! 🤘 :)
A W.A S.P. rating would be cool.
Make it so Questy!

Rank Metal Church my dudeman Questy!
Really great list. Glad to see all these great bands and albums get some love. Without Metallica and Pantera hogging the list all the time!
Virgin Steele is otherworldly! This band blew me away! They are by far my favorite band of all time!
Questy! Do the same for War Metal next! The heaviest and evilest genre!

I'd personally put Groove and Prog before I'd put Folk & Black tbh
Since glam metal goes I would definitely include Dokken and Ratt in here
Great Video!
Brilliant List of bands not sure i would have chose these albums specifically in every case .
Yeah I wouldnt have chosen british steel for judas priest
I get why Deep Purple arent on the list, but I'd throw on In Rock or Machine Head. To me they are integral parts of understanding the genesis of heavy metal
I don't get why Deep Purple aren't on the list. They invented Heavy Metal (1968-72).

@PiotrLangtvedt In rock was released way later than sabbaths debut. Jimi Hendrix is great, not metal though

Appetite for Destruction- Guns N' Roses
Good video.
No Dokken “Under Lock and Key” or Ratt “Out of the Cellar”? Ouch

Best mascot
Metal Church I associate more with thrash than straight up heavy

Motley Crue were great up to, and including, their eponymous album.
After that? Not so much - but good in places.
On a classic Heavy Metal phase at the moment, less Extreme stuff now.
And now that I'm done with studies,I can listen to even more shit.
Savage Grace - Master of Disguise
Sad wings of destiny is the best Judas Priest album imo but there are many 10/10 albums in their discog
i can mension a lot of bands there missing, and still we are not ok, BUT i dont see Warlord in your list my friend, and thats a foul..😁😁🤘🤘
50 essential thrash albums next?
Great list , for me candlemass should be in there instead of Def leppard
Will you shave your head Questy when you get 20,000 subscribers? 🙂
Live perhaps?
As long as he keeps growing the beard, I'm fine with it
not a single bad album on this list
Thrash next, please!
Going to see Satan next month 😎
Love at first sting is the best Scorpions album
i really missed Jaguar, other than that,i loved this list!!
No Stryper?
Cool dance 😂

non of those are heavy metal mate
Show some love for the modern "classic" metal bands: Skull Fist, Enforcer, Riot City, White Wizzard to name a few.
Could do some videos on modern bands on each genre in the future too
No Helloween ...come on now.. fix it....
They’re power metal they’d be on a different list
Dio or Rainbow isn't?
@@toralm6974 no?
