How many rounds did you do double crochet as I done 12 not sure if I like it need to do more
Your tutorials are great. I can only crochet by watching them. I have made a lot of baby blankets and recently challenged myself to make this shawl. Your step by step guide is great. Thanks
I love this shawl. I only taught myself to crochet with the help of Alison’s tutorials. I’m now making a second shawl. Love it.
I have just finished this shawl my mother in law is from England she made one for our first granddaughter and feels she cannot at the age of 90 make another for our second granddaughter so I gave it a go and I am so please with the results I do crochet usually with bulky yarn but never with this fine a yarn you are the best teacher ever. I actually learned to crochet from RUclips and have watched hundreds of videos and you are definitely the best teacher I have encountered so thank you so very much.
Thank you so much for your beautiful comment, I really appreciate it and glad to be of help.
Love the ease of this pattern 😍. Besides of course how pretty it is. I finished the white 1 (round doily look crosses blanket/shawl)last night. Now I'll make this for my newest great niece 💕. The white one will go to my great nephew 💙.

Omg. I love this. I remember the one I had that one of my greats, can't remember if it was a great grandmother or a great aunt who made it for me while my mom was pregnant with me. It was pink and white.
Alison I’ve just finished this shawl in lemon. It’s not as pretty as yours but it’s only my 4th item ever crocheted!!! You have made me want to try all your patterns - Thankyou for your patient tuition even for a lefty!
OH I bet it looks better than you see it xxxx Try the Bobble one I just uploaded use cheap yarn and it will still look amazing. Use the hook size for the yarn its on the label of the ball.

Thanks again and please take care and stay safe and healthy!!💕💗
I never thought of that.
I'm doing this one at the moment . So far it has gone smoothly . I get easily distracted, within thoughts usually lol , so I make mistakes frequently, but this one is going well . Can't wait to see it finished

You’re welcome 😊
Absolutely, beautiful.
Thank you xx
Just starting shawl number Three!
Well Alison ❤️🤗👍
Gorgeous, I'm going to give it try.
Thank you xx
Now I have to make this
Janie if you get stuck, which I'm sure you won't just send me a comment or rewind the video. You can do the lace art in as many rounds as you wish and the middle circle as big as you want it. Just make sure you have AN EVEN NUMBER OF LOOPS once you do the mesh part after the circle. if you have an odd number of loops just make 1 more loop after you slip stitch to join that round. If you understand what I mean as you need an even number to do the cluster rounds
That is stunning!
Thank you, Ohh hahaha I don't want to call you the hag Thank you Ryan xxx
very nice thank u
Thank you too
I’m in the middle of Doing my circle for this blanket however the higher up I go as in 7 in between the TC at the end I’m always 1 stitch shorter than I need, I keep ripping it out starting again but it’s still the same I came figure out what I’m doing wrong! So between the last TC And the slip knot it’s always 1 less than I need. I’m loving the tutorial thanks so much
ALISON USED DK from Home Bargains AND SIZE 4.5 CROCHET NEEDLE. HOPE THIS HELPS 🏴
Yip the home bargains and UK poundland yarns are beautiful. and at 99p per ball can't be beat.
Hello, I love this blanket so much 💖 I was wondering how much wool you used? I don't want to start it and discover I won't have enough. Many thanks nikki x
200g (2 100g balls)
I love watching your crochet channel and have just completed this shawl but I was wondering if I could make it in 3 ply yarn instead of baby yarn
yes but you my have to wing it as it might come out smaller so add rows and adjust it if you feel you need too.
شكرا
thanks
This is beautiful, thank you for sharing this tutorial, really well explained x x
Thank you so much, Elaine I was worried I didn't explain it enough.
@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel It was perfect, a pleasure to watch, my next project thank you for the inspiration x
Hi I would like to say thank you for such a lovely pattern I’ve got two great grandchildren due and this is so easy quick and lovely
You’re welcome 😊 and congratulations on the so to be new arrivals xxx
A blanket/shawl? If you made it bigger how would it fit as a shawl? Even if you fold it in half? Could you shown one used in that way? It's very beautiful.
P.S. Yours is the first video that I have EVER understood how to make the increases and have it lie flat. The single dc/tc goes up by 1 with each row. Brilliant! Thank you.
Hi Kim, so glad you managed the circle sometimes it just takes 1 video to make things click, believe me, I too have to see something done in order to understand some crochet stitches. As for the shawl question that's why I put blanket/shawl. The size I made is a shawl, if bigger id class it as a blanket. Traditionally a shawl is usually open weave pattern or small enough to wrap around shoulders if round its folded in half. The lace shawl mainly for babies was for leaving hospital or Christenings and traditionally crochet or knitted by a member of the family usually a granny then handed down the generations. Nowadays they are made and given as gifts. My mother crochet and knitted everyone in our family a shawl when they had their 1st baby
@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel Ok, that makes more sense for me. Given the, not tightness...the solidity of the center circle, it reminded me of a Scottish Hap. Except instead of a large square with a border, it was a circle. If you could ever look into the creation of a Hap I would be so grateful.
Lovely shawl but part of video is missing
Very pretty. Thank you!👍
I just found your channel...subscribed. 💗
Thank you so much xx
Thank you. This is so pretty!
Your welcome
This is beautiful
I'm going to make mi e into a parasol cover
Could I do the second part the diamond lace part ...could I do extra rounds ..thanks
Go for it!
Very well done thank you 🧵🧶🐞🌻🦘
Many thanks!
Beautifull reallyy
Thank you xx
Hi Alison,I'm new to crocheting, having been a knitter for many years.Your channel is so clear and precise on how to create fabulous projects. How much yarn did you need for this beautiful shawl and what size hook did you use.Obviously the bigger the shawl the more yarn you would need.Regards Carol
I used just less than 200g. Yip this cost me £1.98 for the 2 100g balls of yarn. I bought basic baby double knitting. If you are in the UK I got this pink from Wilko it's called Tootsie. I am going to make it in a blue with Carron simply soft, their balls are 170g usually buy that in packs of 3 there is an Amazon link in the description box for my amazon influencer page. he hook was a 4,5mm a bigger hook will give a more lacy effect.
@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel thanks Alison, I live in Scotland so your Scottish accent is wonderful to hear,so many channels are American
For some, the different terminology takes getting used to. I know both well. But in saying that a good video where you don't need to convert the lingo is always brilliant.
Hi Alison firstly I love your tutorials and the beautiful pieces you create ,but I have a question, how big do you make the centre of your pink shawl im using 4ply so mine is smaller than yours so a measurement would be great x
mine was around 24 to 26 inches around 67cm
Great video I have never made a round blanket never mind one with a fancy edge .
Can this be done in a 4 ply? What hook would I use?
use the hook size on the yarn lable, yes you can do this in any yarn
Hi Alison, please can you post how many balls or grams of wool your shawl needs so I can buy enough wool. Going to attempt this today, wish me luck!
300g will be enough for this of a general double knitting. if you use heavier/thicker yarn you will need more.
What size hook are you using please? How many balls of wool?
Nice
Thank you xx
Hi Alison loving this are you using double knit wool xx
Yes I am. Kym 99p from Home Bargains.
Hi Alison, thanks for your precise and easily understood to even me, - a new crochet person. Knitted for years but giving crochet a go now. Could you use 2ply wool? If so what size of needle? Jane
Oh yes, Jane, My mum used 2ply a lot for baby shawls. I am sure she used a 3.05 (three and a half) it will be smaller than mine. If you use a smaller hook you might just have to do a few more rounds for each section. If you use a larger hook it will just look lacier that's all. Give a 3.5mm a try see how it looks just for a few rounds if you don't like it then use a 4mm hook.
I used a 4.5mm with double knitting I could have used a 5mmor even a 5,5mm The smaller the hook the thicker and smaller the stitch the bigger the hook its more loose larger stitches and a bigger size at the end. The old tradition was thin yarn thin hook, but not always as some brilliant results come from changing hook sizes its just trial and error. Oh and the hook size attached to yar or wool labelling was to get the best result of a pattern from that yarn/wool also tension comes int play too. I just pick up a hook I like and give it a bash hahaha
Hi Alison what wool did you use? What hook too plus how big was this beautiful shawl! I’m just about too start it for my new great niece! Can you help me xx
its double knitting from UK home bargains 99p a ball
Been wanting to do a round blanket and now I found one I like thank you very much! Also, what size hook did you use for this project? Thanks in advance!
I used a 4.5mm hook, just remember once you do the mesh half make sure you have an even number of loops so you start on a cluster and finish on the last loop with a 1 double treble to keep the pattern correct. If you don't you can add 1 more loop after you slip stitch to join the round if you know what I mean.. Oh, and I put a marker on my chain 4 loops so I knew where the start and end of each mesh round were as I got lost the 1st time I did this.
@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel Thank you so much for your quick response and tips :) I tried to see what size when you were making the shawl, I just couldn't tell it if it was 4 or 5 :)
Good evening. If I wanted to make the second section wider, the first lace section how would I need to increase to keep it getting wider. Thankyou. Hope this makes sense
Any advice would be grateful. Wanted to make this as a gift foe my granddaughters christening but wanted it a little.more lacy. Thankyou in advance
Try adding a stitch to the chains i cant remember how many i did in this pattern but in the video if i say chain 4 try chain 5 AFTER the initial rounds to continue to a bigger shawl you might have to try and start the chains in-between the pattern 1 extra too I hope the reply makes sense Xxx
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel many thanks I will have a try and let you know
Hollow I just found your channel and witch few of your tutorials I love 💕 all Thank you 😊 for sharing, I subscribed.
Thank you so much, Please recomend me to your friends if you can, that would be so helpful in building my subscribers xx
Hi Alison I have made this before and love the shawl,I am now planning on doing again but I want a really soft yarn as it is for my 1st grandchild a girl can you suggest one the one on your link doesn’t open thank you
I am making this baby shawl, but find my increases (2trebles) donot fall on the previous rounds increases as yours does. I have undone this a few times to see if where I'm going wrong. So instead of increasing by one treble I am increasing with 2trebles in each round. Can you explain? Lovely shawl thank you.
off hand I don't know why its not working, try putting a marker at the increase areas it might be easier to see where its going wrong.
Hi Alison, I am going to do this lovely shawl/blanket for my stepson and partners forthcoming baby. Can you remember at all how many balls of yarn you used? and were they 100gm balls? I would be very grateful if you are able to recall the amount you used. I love your channel, it has so many beautiful baby blankets, its hard to choose which to do!! I hope you are bearing up regarding your recent sad breavement. My thoughts and prayers are with you. ❤
I used around 2 and a half balls so 3 balls of 100g should be enough it works up fast once you do the lace part
@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel
Hi Alison, thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my request. 3 balls that will be great as I have some small amounts of yarn I would like to use up. 🥰
