This blanket was made with 400g (4x100g) of James C Brett Baby DK yarn. Click on the Lovecraft link below. It came out at 40 inches square (102cm square) The size may differ with your tension. BUT... Try this with thicker yarn or bigger hooks you can use thinner yarn and smaller hooks for a more compact dainty stitch. Bigger hooks will make it Lacyier and light. Let your imagination run with it. Lovecrafts web site for James C Brett baby DK www.lovecrafts.com?a_aid=2aeb6671

I'm a beginner who would never have dreamed 6 weeks ago that I could follow along patterns so soon ( with plenty of rookie mistakes of course! ). Thank you for converting the UK terminology to USA. I don't live in either country but most tutorials I've watched are from the USA. I managed my magic circle, the following 3 rows but I've just counted and I only have 38 stitches. Looks like I need to frog a couple of rows out :(

Hello Alison. Greetings 👋 from the White Mountains in Arizona. I started this virus blanket 4 days ago following your video. I must say, once you get the hang of the 4 rows it works up pretty quickly & easily. Also, it's true about it flattening out smoothly so, to all you worriers about the waviness, stop worrying! Alison, I wish I knew how to send you a picture of mine. If there's a way, please tell me. It's all white and so far is 29 inches square. From the chain 3 & 5 row to the arch is 4 inches. From chain 3 & 5 row to the corners is 5 inches. I'll finish it at 37 inches square then try to create a lovely, lacey border for it. This will be a christening blanket for my 2nd great grandchild due later this year 👶 💞
I love your tutorials. You're my favorite.
    Thank you, Sam Groff

Beautiful pattern. I love how you give the stitches in the uk terms which I was taught in New Zealand many years ago and also now in Australia. When I watch a USA site I automatically say to myself the UK terms! 🤗💕

Thank you for your easy to follow directions. I'm in New Jersey, USA making baby blankets for children suffering with cancer for the Linus Project. This pattern is so nice in solid colors as your example pink blanket shows. It is lovely. 💖

Many thanks for a great tutorial. I've always thought that the virus blanket looked very pretty, but seemed to technical for me. However, you've explained it so well I am going to make it my next project.

I'm still working on my current project but I am looking forward to starting this one. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TELLING HOW MUCH YARN WE NEED straight from the beginning: I ran out for my current project and had a hard time and a long wait to get more. And because of the dye lots were different, there is a clear difference of shade, even though the code is the same.

All my blankets take no mere than 400g in the Uk that would usually be 4x100g If its bigger I always say. so you have enough. Most are 200g for the care seat or small pram and 300g for larger prams or strollers.

@@AlisonRussellsCrochetChannel I have scoured information about "yarn needs" for different projects around the web and while there are some good tables, this is the most useful information yet! Could you do a separate video about yarn needs for different projects? I don't know if there is a formula to count the grams depending on thickness & type of yarn? I imagine cotton is heavier than acrylic for example, so you would need more grams?
