I would rate myself at a confident 10 Dr. Berg. Intermittent fasting and balancing my macro intake has been very satisfying for me. Pre-planning whole foods at home is a major key to success. I've been able to lose over 100 lbs. in less than a year with a simple caloric deficit.
I'm a 5. Saw my neurologist yesterday for annual epilepsy check. She supports my efforts in starting keto. She has a nutritionist specializing in Keto on her staff. Thanks for all the amazing information you provide.
After years of watching you, I finally started Keto. The first 11 days of sugar withdraws, headaches, muscle cramps, etc...were hell but after that it's been fabulous! I feel incredible and thrilled I didnt give up! I would say I'm an 8 on willpower because I do feel slight temptation but I dont want to relive those 11 days so it keeps me in line. Love Keto! Inflammation way down (feet look skinny), sugar cravings kicked, pounds lost, sleeping like a baby, and energy through the roof. I'm not making this just about weight because even though I've got over 200 pounds to lose. I feel good, want to enjoy health, an active life, and meet my goals without running to the scale everyday. Thank you so much Dr. Berg!! Wish I had started years ago! 😊
Eat to push uncomfortable emotions down. Swallow your feelings. 14+yrs of CBT. I now recognize nutrient deficiencies play a huge role in behavior/emotion/unhealthy coping mechanisms. Dr Berg, your help is priceless, sir.
Emotional eating is a REAL issue. The hunger isn't physical, but emotional. I would imagine that there are a lot of overweight folks who struggle with this. I am one of those folks. I'm 40 pounds down (almost down to my goal weight) with only 20 pounds to go. I've lost no weight for almost a year. But I eat this way for health reasons also. I know I'm healthy. My yearly blood work shows it. But I struggle with emotional eating every.....single....day. Also my husband will not eat this way and I cannot remove all "carbs" from the home. But I still move forward, one day at a time, for me.
I recently saw a video on Why Japanese people are slimmer. One thing said was that parents taught their children to stop eating when they feel 80% full. I don't watch TV. So many commercials of mouth watering looking foods that actually aren't delicious but encourage craving. I've never been fond of Cruciferous vegetables but have learned to appreciate them because I feel so much better! The key is having healthy fats to feel satisfied.
I’m an 8 but I rarely eat when I’m not hungry. I intermittent fast “no keto”. I used to eat keto but I lost my weight & switched to intermittent fasting eating whatever I want. Knowing I can have what I want and learning what I need to do to maintain has been so freeing. I love intermittent fasting!!
Dr. Berg mentioned in a video years ago that eating enough Magnesium & Potassium stops the cravings. YES that works for me, usually in a supplement form and KETO.
Great video on covering the aspects of keto that are really part of the whole keto lifestyle. The discipline that is required to stay on healthy keto becomes automatic and for me has spilled over into other parts of my life: easier to stop drinking alcohol; more control around spending; having better habits in general that lead to a happier life. My resistance/acceptance level is 8. Thank you, Dr. Berg.
I'm definitely a 1/10 on the resistance scale at the moment. I've been this way my whole life, attempted switching to keto and was successful for 4 weeks. Ended up caving and binge eating for the last few months. I desperately want to get back on track but constantly having junk food in the house is making it so hard for me. This video really motivated me to work on my willpower. thanks Dr. Berg
When I was doing a prolonged fast I made a point to siting down with my family when they had my favorite take out (fish and chip's) it smelt so good but I told my self what do you want more? to be healthy lose weight or be satisfied for five minutes. What helps me out and stay strong is not saying I can't have it but I choose not to have it at this time.
I liked this comment - if I indulge it is a momentary satisfaction that vacates my health goals. It takes planning; ie bring yr own food (like a diabetic person might do)
I was raised by a single parent. Mom had to work every day so she felt guilty about leaving me alone. The way she showed her love was to feed me. I did get the healthy foods, but the junk foods came along with them whenever I wanted. Mom has passed on now and I'm trying to overcome the "nothing says lovin' like something from the oven" syndrome.
A long time ago I ate a bagel and was still hungry so I ate some bread and was still hungry so I ate bun. Later that day I felt a ton of internal strain and got a headache. The next day I watched one of your videos on keto and ate some eggs with a ton of butter and I felt great, relaxed and had tons of energy all day and didn't even need to eat lunch
I am very good at resisting temptation. My daughter who eats carbs, does not bother me at all. Now my husband, he does suffer at times and daughter has to be more careful about what she brings into the house and try to keep out of his sight. I also go out for a meal at times with the family, including my Mom, but I tell them to get whatever because I'm fine with it. Everyone around me says they could be as disciplined as I am. Even a cheat for me is with keto foods. I just can't bring myself to eat anything that is NOT keto/carnivore.
Dr berg I had cravings for carbs in the starting of keto & find challenging to lose weight, once I made myself stubborn to follow keto & IF I lost 20 lbs, no more cravings, I am able to eat 10 cups of salads & no more cravings for any carbs or sugar, thank you Dr berg!

First cheat since I started 3 & half months ago. I must say, I was very bloated the next day, not sure if it was the red wine or the cheese, likely the wine , I think! I made the commitment not to eat junk food and go full Keto, however now being 2 months in, I’m watching more keto dessert videos which uses some substitute sugars and now I have a knack for these desserts all the time.
I resist it by knowing all the chemicals in the salt, the flavoring, and the fact that the corn they use is round up ready, monster foods. But I was in your shoes, but no longer. Wish you all luck, and good health.
I have eaten when I am not hungry, but my adult daughter never has done this. She always left food on her plate. ( did not have the clean plate rule) My daughter has always been trim , but her portions are much smaller than the average person. Excellent video.
DR. Eric Berg we all have a big request, please make a video on how to heal red brownish acne mark that's left after acne goes away. It would be very helpful because Iam at the point where I feel unsecure looking at someone thank you.🥰
If I have used all my carb macros and still would like to eat something that has carbs - I just think that I can have that nice thing tomorrow and it has really been helping
Discipline Level fluctuates 8 to 10 regarding ability to resist temptation with keto. I am so thankful! *One humble request* - Please avoid using the term “starving” to describe hunger or desire to eat. There are people who (barely) exist in a starvation mode every single day. Blessed, spoiled and ignorant are we who have never known the realities of such a life.
My Dr. Told me the same thing. And when it actually came to me doing it. I was really surprised how I really never do get hungry. I never really listen to my body. It was an eye opener to me.
How about talking about training your brain? I have noticed myself and my mind is my #1 enemy! It can be stronger than my will power. You may ask, "how does that make sense?" I have such strong will power during the week and not be hungry for up to 36 hours but on the weekend, I am hungry all day! That is because in the beginning of my weight loss journey, I told myself that I would relax on those days and could perhaps enjoy regular food.... so that is how I know my brain can make me fail! I have lost 32 lb on intermittent fasting, HIIT training and changing a great deal of my eating habits. This is all thanks to Dr. Berg and my will to change my life around before I turn 43. Oh, I suffer from hypothyroidism so these changes have been lifesaving for me. I cannot say I follow everything strictly because not all bodies are created equal but I do implement quite a bit of your recommendations. Thank you Dr. Berg!
At almost 50 I cautiously went into Keto. At some point I realized personally that my attitude toward food shifted. Food went from "indulgent pleasure" experience that I constantly had to seek out to more of a "fuel" based system, that's fun to experiment with. Sounds weird, but for me that major shift has been instrumental.
My wife gets after me to eat slower and chew the food good. It gives the brain a chance to get the message that I’m full. Also to put my fork down between bites. Just a couple things that work for me. I love your channel Dr. Berg.
The main thing is not to go straight into omad but to adapt because if your body isn’t burning it’s own fat it used it’s own protein once glucose is burned off. So it’s very important to eat when ur hungry and get off all medications and drugs. Including coffee he only recommends it during the adaption phase, even though he drinks a small cup everyday, in his book he recommends a replacement coffee but I forgot what it is. He explains it a believe the name his oldest video where he explains what he eats in a day. Also, vegetables if they make you bloat switch to lowfodmap leafy green vegetables like bok Choy, if it still makes you bloat then steam them, if they still make you bloat eat 6 oz versus 7 oz. Because bloating cause stress. Also, gmo low quality food makes people bloat.
Cish 60 stick with it for a few weeks. Your eating hormones will stabilize and it becomes easier. Very weird when that happens, when your insulin goes low your hunger shuts off, you may even forget to eat. Make fat bombs, keep them in the fridge, use erythritol alcohol sugar and stevia in place of sugar, (Amazon), find a MeetUp or other a Keto group in your area for recipe exchanges and tweaks, and support! You will be going against the SAD mainstream, just tell anyone who bugs you about it, that your on a health quest and they need to respect your health choices. ❤️
The resistance increases as time goes by. The first few days are the hardest for me. I’m on day 3 (again) Started Keto in March 2017. Lost 35 lbs in 4 months. Got lazy, slid down the slippery slope. 😥 gained it back plus 3 lbs. I have never felt worse in my life. I’m 56, I have high blood pressure and everything aches.

I think I'm 7.5 pretty disciplined if it comes to food. After almost a half a year on keto my cravings for sweets or chips are gone and I do not miss them. But my daily schedule makes it difficult for me not to eat when not hungry. I'm still waiting for my body to adapt to being hungry when I have time for a meal. My "feeding time" and my hunger need some shifting, I'm working on it. Thank you Doctor 😘
10/10. I'm not bothered if people eat around me. I also told them don't feel bad coz they are eating in front of me. Sometimes they offered me fruit but I politely rejected them. I can also study cooking videos without drooling since I begin keto 2 months ago. Used to get hungry when I watched cooking videos lol. I totally love this new lifestyle 😎
9 or 10 with some small exceptions. The thing I most often give in to has only 0.56g carb per candy. :) so yes candy, but it’s actually manageable. I do keep some fruit mentos around in case of hypoglycemia, type 1 diabetic. If I take one or two of those to bring glucose levels up then I usually end up eating the whole bar. So I try to not end up with low glucose levels. The one with only 0.56g carbs per candy is Fazer Salmiakki, the ones in a small box, not the bags or chocolate bars. The irresistible part is the saltiness from ammonium chloride. I’m pretty sure this cravings comes from some mineral deficiency. Yes it is a craving a really tough one to beat, usually comes late in the night. I mostly eat at night OMAD or twice a day. Eat a lot of salt also so I don’t understand the craving for it.
Temptation/Resist Scale = 7. Stress and any emotional issue will drive me to eat even though I may not be hungry at all. I'm getting a lot better with Keto/IF but I still slip sometimes.
omg, I needed to hear this video. I fell into temptation..food. And I can't seem to get back on my plan. I'm feeling inspired after listening to you dr. berg. thanks a million.
4 I think on weekends especially when my husband is home....he wants to eat everything all day long and he is tall and thin. Trying to help him too but tough and yes have seen the video on how to get your spouse on keto....his mind is set in a round about way.
As far as resisting temptation I’d probably give it a 1. Weirdly enough being offered bad for you food by other people makes me really not want it, so denying bad food is super easy.
I've been on proper diet (Least I think so) for over a month now and lost 15kg. Temptations are real but my mission is above it. Ate oats mixed with bananas & honey for breakfast, ate bananas or papayas for lunch, sometimes not consuming anything in the afternoon but chia seed water and mushroom soup or salad for dinner. Must have lots of water all day long, drink only when I'm thirsty.
4:03 That's probably the biggest thing (my opinion). I have a lot of friends that are trying to not eat certain things and this is always what I tell them. Doesn't even have to do with food, people always want what that can't or should have. Tell someone they can have as much of something they want and a lot of time will decline the offer. Tell them they can't have it and then they suddenly want it and almost obsess the desire to want it.
I love you dr berg you are amazing!!! Thank you for providing the public with free knowledge. If it was up to my doctor i would have diabetes type 2 by now and be forced to take medications ( because thats what they want!!) I learned so much from you, im very grateful. You are a true blessing! God bless you!
8/10 have never broke keto in the last 60 days since starting. I am weak however at parties where cheese and keto friendly foods are present. I tend to blow out my fat/protein gram goals. It is like I am totally amazed that there is a keto-friendly food supply available and binge a bit.
I'd put myself at a 6. I've reduced my reliance on everyday sources of sugar and refined carbs (juice, rice, pastries, crisps). However I have a predeliction for certain confections (doughnuts, cookies, chocolates) and will usually succumb every once in a while. I am improving in abstaining from these though by exercising more discipline and adopting keto friendly substitutes (i.e. pecans).
I love your videos. Important questions 2me. (1) chance of getting obsessed with keto and weight lose dangerously , forever. (2) if I am happy about my weight, what should be my keto plan? (3) when I should feel happy about my weight? (Height vs. weight ratio)
When living alone or with people I’m fine but when I’m alone with a lots of food, I can overeat by literally anything. Out of nervousness or boredom. I got of track in August - not working - and need to get back on track but falling every day again and again…
I’m never hungry but I feel dizzy so I eat, but since I got this cold that wouldn’t go away I’ve been craving so much food but Dr Berg is always in the back of my head lol 😂
Dear Dr Berg....I am 70 years olds...and have diabetes. My mom also had diabetes and so did her mom. The biggest problem we had was never having hunger pains....ever. So we still kept a schedule for meals or we would never eat. Even today I have to fight with myself....just to eat breakfast which doesn't happen till noon sometimes. I have to 'force' myself to eat and this has been passed down the family to me.......so maybe it's not a good idea to wait until you're hungry to eat. P.S I just love you and Dr. Bergman.....
I cook for myself but my sisters are in town and so we’re going out to restaurants. I hate restaurants. We went to this restaurant serving southern food and I picked the breading off the okra. The collard greens were overcooked. At another restaurant I didn’t eat the side dish of corn or the toasted bread but the salmon and avocado were good (the avocado was a substitute). I’ve become a very picky eater but it had to be done in steps. I didn’t cutout processed foods until I felt ready to do it. I’m an all or nothing type of person, I can’t moderate so, no, I won’t eat something just to please somebody else. Since I started watching your videos I have cut back to 2 meals a day and the cutoff for snacks is 8pm. I’ve started cutting out the sweeter fruits to reduce my fructose intake. My meat consumption is very limited (occasional salmon or eggs) so I eat non-animal substitutes for protein. It’s not pure keto.

So much of overeating is mental. We can't just resist the temptation. We have to eat so we are forced into making good or bad choices daily. Some people just naturally have an easier time making healthy decisions.
If you follow a program it can be much easier.
@@trzanes3102 Following a program helps but it can still be very challenging for some even when doing everything right.
@@brandnueweightloss I'm a stress eater and a "bored" eater. It is 100% mental for me when it comes to the times that I over eat. Biggest problem for me...

So I’m on vacation now in Puerto Rico and I’ve been walking in the hot weather but nothing crazy I am also not eating I am fasting for a few days and I feel incredible ! I walk by so many restaurants and no cravings
I would rate myself at a confident 10 Dr. Berg. Intermittent fasting and balancing my macro intake has been very satisfying for me. Pre-planning whole foods at home is a major key to success. I've been able to lose over 100 lbs. in less than a year with a simple caloric deficit.
I have been doing this for three years now, so I am on a 10. Never been hungry in the last three years
Guess you haven't eat in three years!
stop lying
That's right only eat when hungry. Fast detox physical activity etc. It's works.
Eating even if not hungry has been my biggest challenge. So stupid, but so true.
Update?? How are doing with it.
Dr. Berg! How did you know all thats going on in my life? This is exactly my habits and thoughts. Insidious!!
Resisting non-keto foods: 10
Resisting eating keto foods when I’m not hungry: 1
So how do you do that ? you have a 4-Hour window a 6-hour window
Yes. I need to go back to your drawing board to where I got lost. Also, the family, friends and work can be a factor or just my weakness of chips.
This video really motivated me to work on my willpower. thanks Dr. Berg
I write a list every morning of what and when I will eat during the day . Works for me
When I was doing a prolonged fast I made a point to siting down with my family when they had my favorite take out (fish and chip's) it smelt so good but I told my self what do you want more? to be healthy lose weight or be satisfied for five minutes. What helps me out and stay strong is not saying I can't have it but I choose not to have it at this time.
Thazed
Eat the fish. Take breading off. Fish is good..
@@Patriot1459J When I'm not fasting I do cook plane cod with lots of butter on it :)
"Ehh it's raining outside so I'm gunna not exercise and eat" it happens
Good for you.
Run outside tf I do that but I got a reason I’m joining the military so I will be in there so getting my mental ready but running in Nature and it’s weather is awesome feels great
u can see what a wise doctor he is when he says : allow urself to have it ever so often but make sure to make up the damage. I worship him.
I broke my OMAD fast last Saturday night, Celebrating our 34 Wedding Anniversary 😉😁 I enjoyed a few glasses of wine 🍷, instead of a Meal, I wasn’t hungry except for the Camembert cheese resting on a platter , I did not eat any of the chips or crackers 😊 (proud of my discipline!lol! ) Knowing the next meal wasn’t until the following evening, I felt eating the cheese would not only be extremely naughty, (breaking my OMAD with the Red Wine)but the fat would satiate me until the next 23hrs! First cheat since I started 3 & half months ago. I must say, I was very bloated the next day, not sure if it was the red wine or the cheese, likely the wine , I think! I see Keto as a lifestyle change for me, very Grateful to you Dr Berg! Much Blessings & thanks 🙏 💜🇦🇺
Dr. Berg thank you so much for this video. My macros are good, blood ketones levels around 2.4, the problem is I’m not hungry. I was eating two meals most days, now I’m down to one and I was forcing myself to eat two meals due to low calories but I feel wonderful. I eat raw salads every with my protein and fats and I’m very satisfied with no sugar cravings.
Oh man... new to keto and I’m probably a 3! Food is totally tempting! That’s why I’m here 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
It depends I go from 0 to 10. My plan. I don't watch TV with constant food ads and I don't bring the bad foods home. You have been a great help because I spend more time near 10 than before
9 out of 10 for me beacause it's very tough when I go out and smell a food that brings back good memories, but then I remember that now I have the knoledge of health and these old habits would cause health damage, and that sure makes me hold on to Keto.
Dr Berg, you are amazing. I’m insulin resistant with PCOS and it’s so difficult for me right now and I’m trying my hardest to cut back tremendously before I start your plan. When I was previously on your plan I did enjoy it a lot, but my problem always came to rise when my period who trying to balance. The cravings and behaviors are so unreal. Thankyou for putting this video out , it kinda helps me in a lot of ways to focus better and you officially motivated me to get back on track. My journey certainly won’t be easy because of the damage I put on myself but you definitely put a fire underneath my butt to try harder!!!! To be continued!!!
I ate 2 servings of rice the other day. Omg it raised my blood sugar high. I'm never doing that again !
We Asians do that all d time.
But now I have totally stopped rice. I eat rice preps only on festivals...
Indian rice preps are yummmyyyyyyy
I made the commitment not to eat junk food and go full Keto, however now being 2 months in, I’m watching more keto dessert videos which uses some substitute sugars and now I have a knack for these desserts all the time.
When I walk into the movie theater and smell that popcorn-there’s no way I can NOT resist. My resistance...-5. 😩 I just LOVE popcorn!🍿🍿🍿
I went to the movies last night, I did well until I smelled that cooking popcorn :(
I love the popcorn at the movies, not so much when people at work burn it. Yuck.
Yeah, burnt popcorn doesn’t entice me in the least. I wish movie theaters would burn popcorn more! 😀
I resist it by knowing all the chemicals in the salt, the flavoring, and the fact that the corn they use is round up ready, monster foods. But I was in your shoes, but no longer. Wish you all luck, and good health.
I hear ya!
That was good I agree with that. most of these can be difficult to follow. but this one was good and easy to follow. thank you
Discipline Level fluctuates 8 to 10 regarding ability to resist temptation with keto. I am so thankful!
*One humble request* - Please avoid using the term “starving” to describe hunger or desire to eat.
There are people who (barely) exist in a starvation mode every single day. Blessed, spoiled and ignorant are we who have never known the realities of such a life.
Thankyou doctor you are wonderful. Everything makes sense to me when you explain.
Berg!
I searched "why eat not hungry" with little expectation, however, my favorite channel is the top result!! Lucky me 🍀
At almost 50 I cautiously went into Keto.
Used to be level 1 prior to my Keto venture 7 months ago, today comfortably at level 9, probably 10 even
My level of resistance is -10 😓
I’m with ya, friend.😕
Yeah, me too.
😂😂😂 yes, it's very difficult
Me too!
😇
Also, I’m an emotional eater. I’m just starting with Keto, so I hope I can stop.
Thank you for your reply. I’m going to print it and keep it with me. 😊
Damn doctor lately your videos have been fire keep them coming 🔥
10 , and very happy, I dont feel deprived off the things I love for the first time, since i'm on Keto diet.
Emotional eater 🤦🏽♀️. Stressing. Seeking immediate gratification. 😫
Good Morning Dr. Berg🖐 Visual no longer bothers me, except last night for some reason I had a sweet attack. So I went to the store and bought sugarfree fudgsicles. It helped and now I'm fine today! God Bless You and Your Family Dr. Berg FOREVER AMEN🙇♀️✝️🙏
It really sucks being a culinary student.
I needed this so much. Thank you for the video Dr Eric Berg.
I like the last sentence about willpower and why we have it or not.
Temptation/Resist Scale = 7. Stress and any emotional issue will drive me to eat even though I may not be hungry at all. I'm getting a lot better with Keto/IF but I still slip sometimes.
Excellent Dr. Berg
Resist Level 3:
Mostly carbs like potatoes and bread. I've boiled it down to habbit/routine.
Very good tips, thank you.
omg, I needed to hear this video.
I do it all the time... just because I am used to it 😰
Me too 🙄
As far as resisting temptation I’d probably give it a 1.
10 with temptation. I lost all this weight and I know I want to stay this way. Omad for possible life!
I love you dr berg you are amazing!!! Thank you for providing the public with free knowledge. If it was up to my doctor i would have diabetes type 2 by now and be forced to take medications ( because thats what they want!!) I learned so much from you, im very grateful. You are a true blessing! God bless you!

When I see a donut or a piece of chocolate cake my tolerance to resist eating them is absolutely ZERO
I am good at resisting challenges when I am outside the country
I'm doing LC+IF every day. Yes, sometimes I eat even when I'm not hungry. But I only do it during my eating window.

It’s just getting there dr berg, that’s the difficult part
Wow, this whole video is me !!!! I'm going to listen to this about 5 more times.
Been Squeaky Clean Keto since November 1st of last year. Mentally, I made the decision that those carbohydrates were KILLING me. Channeled that anger such that none of those so-called foods are appealing to me anymore.
I am so proud of myself, this time of year, I love love love Egg nog with a splash of VO and allspice with Ice in a shot glass. I made a promise to myself that I'll wait until around Thanksgiving. I have been on Keto for over a year. Love my Keto..
I love this channel so much!
