Replacing Weather Stripping on Toyota Tacoma SR5 - Bad Wrench

- Опубликовано: 16 сен 2024
- In this video, we replace our door seal. Our Toyota Tacoma needs a new door seal on the driver side. This is a very expensive weather strip and is only available at the Toyota dealer. Dealer parts are not cheap and this weather seal is proof of that. So with this seal being this expensive you will want to install this weather seal correctly. It is made of rubber and is molded to fit the drivers door only and is cut to fit a curtain way. We have more to do in the door jam and you will get a sneak peak of the next video.

Thank you for the video. Knowing about the one corner padded insert from your video, I did my install a little differently. I marked the outer edges of the padded area (roughly 5-6" in length) on my old seal with masking tape on the car door frame before removing and started from there with the install since that seems to be the most critcal area for fit. My OEM seal had a white mark in the middle of the padded area so easy to center. I wiped white lithium spray with a cloth on the raised metal where seal attaches over. The seal went on very easily working in either direction from the padded corner. Same result.
Definitely help putting links for products in the description. I'm seeing a pattern.... 😁
Thanks for the video
Not a problem. I have more content coming up. And there has been big changes to my channel, hopefully I will get the Silver Swine back in the shop to continue the build.
These can also be found for cheap/free at junk yards. I found one in good shape at my local pick and pull when I was getting a couple other parts and they let me take the weather strip for free.
Passenger side is usually in good shape but drivers side is usually torn.
Thanks for the video, very clear and informative! Do you recommend only OEM part replacement for this seal or is Fairchild a decent substitute? Also, my 2003 Toyota Tacoma has a 1-1/2 foot rubber gasket above this seal over each rear door, and longer ones over the front doors that lead down to the hood. I was wondering what these seals are called?
I used originally Toyota parts, I am trying to get the part numbers but Toyota is tight lipped with part numbers. The weather seal I replaced is the full door seal / weather seal. The other seal is a upper weather seal and is only from the windshield to the back of the door. I only replaced the main because mine was destroyed on the bottom because of people dragging feet across the seal.
What’s the Toyota part number??
Will and seal cause seatbelt to get wet in heavy rain? Mine gets wet in the spooled belt, when I pull it the section in the spool is wet.
Hey quick question how did you get those floor mats ?
I heard a brief comment about glue, but was unclear if you used it or not. If you did what did you use?
I didn't need glue for this seal.
Is there a link to the weather strips? I have a 2001 Toyota Tacoma Pre-Runner TRD off road with a 3.4L V6
This is a one piece weather strip and my old one is ripped open from dragging feet in and out of the truck. I got mine from Amazon and I don't have my Amazon affiliate program yet.
Whats the part number??
I ordered mine from the Toyota dealership and they did not give me a part number but I will look into it and see if I can get it.
Part number please Thank you!
I will call Toyota and get it this is a difficult part and my payment slip did not have a part number 😒
Where you buy it ?
I was only able to get it from Toyota
What is the weatherstripping above the door seal at the top of the door right at roof line called?
It is a weather strip, I had to tell the dealership that I wanted the seal that goes all the way around the door. It might be called window and roof seal or upper door seal.
Camry weather stripping
Toyota parts are hard to find and can be very expensive.
