I got 2023 camry limited eddition, the noise is very annoying I hope you reply to me as the thing you have I have to order online to middle east! Is it helpful?! And why we have this problem and why the factory is not fixing it ?!
No idea why Toyota didn’t think this is a problem. To test close a towel in you door and see if the noise is gone. If so it’s the seal and this extra gasket will fix it. There are many double stick gaskets between 1/2 and 3/4 inch. Doesn’t need to be this exact one. Good luck!
Thanks for the video. I will try it. I have a 2015 Tacoma which I bought recently. The whistle sound was odd. The remedy of turning the stereo up louder is not a permanent fix for sure.
Quick question, I have a 3rd gen and I hear wind noise starting at 40mph right from the corner of the driver window where the side mirror is mounted. I installed auto zone seal that’s like 5/8” thick but it didn’t solve the noise problem at all. Will this 1/2” seal help?
I’d tape the door seem with blue painters tape and see if it stops. Keep taping until you find the noise and then see if there’s a space within the jam for the seal.
The painters tape blocks the air from entering the seam between your door panel and fender panel. If you really wanted to get into this, you could do it 12” x 12” around the entire seam. First tape up the entire door. And then do passes at 40 miles an hour peeling off 12 inches at a time until the noise comes back. I don’t think I would bother doing that but that way you would know exactly where the noises coming from. if you look at a Mercedes or many high-end cars, they actually have a gasket in the door that causes the gap to be flush. it’s hard to see because it’s black but once you look for it, you’ll see it and it’s exactly for this reason, noise
I bought a 2015 Toyota Tacoma and same thing happens as soon as you reach 70 mph. I get a horrible whistling sound that is extremely annoying, I called they dealership and they played stupid and said they never heard of anything like that. So I finally figured it out about a month after I bought it. It’s the rubber door seal not thick enough to block the air flow going through, between the door seal and the cab making the whistle Sound. So by adding gaffers tape behind the rubber door seal, it stops the noise. The fix for me was to use 8ft x 1/2” strip of gaffers tape along the door behind the rubber seal so it pushes the rubber out more to make it thicker and make it seal the door better to the truck. I put the strips of tape about 5 times to make it thick enough to push the seal out enough to eliminate the noise. It worked! for about three years, but I’m starting to hear it again. So I’m going to try this taco weather lining next and hopefully it stops the noise for good. It’s Sunday 10/24/21 gaffer tape is about $25.00 a roll and it looks like duct tape, but anyway, you’d think the dealer would replace it for free since it’s a bad product in rubber seal design. I’m going to call the dealership one more time since it’s been a few years and see if they will honor it since I’ve bought about seven Toyota trucks from them over the years, I realize it wishful thinking and they’ll probably play stupid again. Oh well it’s worth a call to see.
@Jimmy Song - hey did this fix your Palisade wind noise? I saw you commented in some videos and it looks like we have the same issue. I have a 2021 Calligraphy.
@@greymatterr11 this video will not help your palisade wind noise..I went to dealership but they couldn't do anything about wind noise but funny thing is my wind noise getting better and now I hear just little bit of wind noise if I drive more than 80 mile..you need to stop by hyundai dealer service first.
I just installed the “D” shape weather strip I bought off amazon on my nissan frontier, just to see if would really make the wind noise go away and he was right when he said the vibration came from the door because my truck vibrated a little when at cold start or at idle, but now it has little to no vibration after installing it. The noise how ever was questionable, i felt like it didnt do too much to the wind noise. It did muffle a little bit of the noise but nothing drastic in my opinion. But very good video man keep up the content👍👍
Thanks for the comment. I was looking at a Mercedes recently that was double gasketed all the way around each door. I think the manufactures know this helps but cheep out. Anyway, thanks again.
Yeah of course, now that ive had it for a few days i can say at higher speeds there is a difference in wind noise, the inside noise is definitely muffled alot, but im still very shocked it helped with vibrations at idle. Very great video keep up the good truck stuff👍👍
Wow, that solves a major issue gojng on 10 years. Usually when I get to 75-80 mph. First it felt like the passanger side front tire. Checked it out. Wasn't that and eventually figured it was some kind of wind reverberation. Then I thought it was the antenna (maybe causing some weird wind flow)-- I lost my OEM antenna early on at a car wash and replaced it with something from O'Reilly's.I actually ordered an OEM antenna from a Toyota dealership thinking that woukd fix it. Didn't work. Then I installed wind guards. I will say the wind guards DID reduce the problem but didn't 100% eliminate it. But wow, thanks for this info. I love my Tacoma, but this has been an annoyance for a while now. Ordered the parts, just waiting to install.
@@bobbygfl I didn't expect so much difference, from road to wind noice is definitely more then 65- 70% better. I live in Germany and on autobahn ppl drive really fast. Huge, huge difference! Thank you again
There’s been a ton of people so far that have said it has worked perfectly. I think the key is you have to make sure that whatever foam you buy it is thick enough that it’s squashes when you close the door.
@@bobbygfl Yeah the foam squashes for sure, i haven't had the chance to hear it , but I still get this slight, duller sounding hum noise, sounds like it may be the side mirror, or maybe the hood, mud flap, not sure.
@@Brian-mg5jz if you can get it to repeat the noise crack the window while the noise is happening. That’s how I discovered that it was the door. If you crack the window and the noise does not go away then you’ll know it’s something else.
Might this work per whistling noise after removing an Air Dam from a 'Tacoma Limited' or the other Tacoma Trims with Air Dams like the 'Tacoma TRD Sport & 'Tacoma SR5 Trim ??
I bought the weather stripping in your description and applied before a roadtrip. Had to pull over and remove it because the wind noise was so much worse from the doors not sealing at the b pillar. Any advice?
I’d use blue painters tape. 2” tape up your door gaps. Drive and if the noise is gone the weather striping was not thick enough or in a place that sealed the area from buffeting. If the noise is still there it’s something unrelated to this fix. Hope that helps!
Great video! My 2013 Tacoma has been doing this for years. Can you give me the correct Taco Metals Weather Seal part number for that or size thickness description?
I’m trying this on my RAV4. Like another poster mentioned, I’m about to turn this freaking thing in for a Chevy. This new RAV4 rattles more than any vehicle I’ve ever owned and the trim pieces fly off and/or break with just a sideways look. At least this tip might solve my window noise problem. Thanks!
I was looking at a Ford raptor the other day and they have a rubber molding right at the separation between the panels. In my opinion this will work for any vehicle or truck.
I did not hear it stated, but I assume that one does both sides of the vehicle. Correct? Since it is difficult to know which side of the vehicle needs it, it makes sense to apply the window seal to both sides of the truck/car. Please amplify this issue. Thanks!
Im trying to find the new toyota part number you mentioned @ :23, just curious what they did different and what new clips were used. Where did you find that info?
Thanks for the info! I'll definitely give it a try. I've been told the noise could be a number of things, from the hood scoop itself to the windshield gasket being faulty, to even a "small part that is loose" located behind the radiator haha. I only hear it on strong windy days regardless of the speed. If rolling down the window didn't do the trick, would you still recommend to give the weather seal a try?
I’ve heard if you take blue masking tape and tape around the door seams it’ll simulate the extra gasket and if that removes the noise than the gasketing works. Good luck!!
I will be doing this later today on my 2021 trd pro tundra. Curious if your noise was a whistle, or more like loud ambience as if your window is down? Hard to describe but it’s just loud at higher speeds.
This fix works! My 2016 access cab had a howl that sounded like a kazoo in a crosswind at highway speed. Nice and silent now! Thank you so much for posting this and the link for the size of weather strip needed!
Having this same problem. Ordered today. Hope it works.LF and RF gaskets are $103 a piece, then installation. Not covered under my new Toyota Platinum warranty. Fingers crossed. Will post after install
Barry Cliborn that’s really odd that you would gain wind noise. This actually made my cabin much quieter. Either way thanks for the comment glad it worked to get rid of that ridiculous sound.
I have a 2019 Rav4 adventure and the wind noise is really bad. I tried your idea but it did not work. Air seems like it seeps through driver's door window and also a turbulent noise from the front of the rack. Do you have any suggestions?
Casey L I do! Same thing happen to another viewer. They found the source by taking blue painters masking tape, the 2” one and taping panel seams one at a time until the noise was gone. Then once they found the source put foam tape in that area. Hope that helps.
Thanks for getting back to me! I tried taping the rack and the windows. I can’t locate where the noise is coming from. I have a feeling it has to do with the rack. Just trying to figure out why the tape doesn’t seal the cracks.
Casey L That’s really strange I would still just keep trying to move things if your roof rack folds in line maybe try that. I had a Ford Explorer in the roof rack made noise and I could never fix it. If the blue tape didn’t seal off anything then you’re likely right. Tape some cardboard cones on the front maybe and see if that eliminates the noise not so that you would actually do that permanently but just so you would confirm it is actually the roof rack. Often times you can change the aerodynamics just slightly and get rid of noise. If you haven’t reached out to Toyota maybe see if they have some kind of recall or service bulletin for wind noise on your particular year and model.
I had to buy the Amazon one since tacomarine didn’t have this anymore. I did as you explained on a 2023 Tacoma since it has a wind noise as well, but it makes the doors want to pop open quick when trying to open them. The rear door top corner portion pops out where the foam ends. Hope heat will shrink it and maybe the pressure will adjust the insulation so the top portion doesn’t pop out as much. I may need to buy a thinner one.
Do you find that while the howling noise is gone, the general wind and road noise is more since the rest of the door is not sealed as tightly? Have you tried putting this foam only on the affected area?
Since installing the weatherproof seal, have you noticed the traffic/outside noise lessening? I just bought a Toyota Highlander ‘21 and wind & traffic noise unbearable. Dealer told me this is how car is made, so looking for a quick fix.
Nathan Fincher - did you try this on your Highlander? I have the same issue with my '20 - Toyota tells me this is a "normal characteristic of the vehicle" we have tried a new hood seal, new side mirror, nothing has helped the wind noise. I am desperate for a solution
If you have a chance to look at a Mercedes or BMW they (some models at least) have two rows of foam. All you’re really doing is adding that extra foam closer to the wind source which makes a huge difference. In my opinion it would work on any car
I know this is an older video but my 2015 Tacoma had this problem, it only happened when driving at high speed with a strong cross wind. I bought a similar weather stripping and now after 5 months I haven't heard the noise since. Essentially the stock weather stripping was acting like a reed in an instrument. Just like this video says it puts just enough pressure on the stock weather seal and the squeal disappears.
Was it enough with that strip at the top or did you do the rest of the doors to get rid of enough noise? Would really appreciate if you could tell me so I don't buy to little or too much.
Well because I had such a long strip and didn’t want to cut it I really don’t know but I believe that if you only did the front door it would stop the noise
My 2014 Sequoia does this..drivers side only. I may try this. Around 75mph it really has a distinctive wind noise that sounds like it's coming from exactly where you pointed at
May I ask you about how efficient is it after 2 years? a lot has recommended me not to do it because it will make an extra space between the doors and the car’s body and then the noise will be a lot worse than before.
Still working. Wind noise is significantly less and the vibration sound has never returned. The idea that a foam gasket could create extra space between a metal car door is ridiculous. The metal would have to bend in order for that to occur. Anyway thanks for the comment it’s working great I’m glad I did it.
I have a 2015 Tacoma access cab that makes that noise, kinda like a stretched balloon letting the air out. Happens when there is a strong cross wind from the direction of the front corners of the truck. I was gonna try putting door edge protectors on there to tighten the seal against the cab to stop the vibration. I may try your solution instead. Thanks brother!
That’s exactly the sound! Lol. If you want to cheaply test it and you don’t mind driving around looking ridiculous put blue masking tape over your door seams and see if the noise is gone. People have left comment that this was a good way to test it. Either way the foam gasket really cuts down on all wind noise not just that ridiculous howling.
I put the edge guard across the top of all four doors. So far so good no squalling noise and less wind/road noise. I started where the door meets the fender on the front door and continued to where the back door just started to curve down. Works great! Thanks brother!
Thanks, Toyota gave me a few part #'s for replacement weatherstrips that fix this but they wanted $75 for each one. I've had my Tacoma for 6 years now, never got this fixed because it doesn't bother me all that much. I might actually buy this part, much better price for sure. Also, not 100% sure but I think this problem only affects double cab models.
Ben Gonzales agreed, only in a strong crosswind or over 70 does mine start to howl. Not annoying until it’s annoying the. It’s all I hear! Lol. Good luck! I thought about doing the whole door surround, but this length alone fixed it for good.
@@bobbygfl Update: something strange happened, the sound doesn't seem to happen as frequently or noticeably anymore, maybe the truck breaking in and settling over the years caused it to stop. I just paid it off a few months ago too. :)
Hey brother I have that problem on my brand new Toyota Camry and believe it or not, people at the dealer can’t fix it. Where did you buy this product. Thanks 🙏🏻 for sharing and replaying back
Thank you, great review. I have lexus it is quite 2017, but when I go on highway, I hear road and other noise. What do you suggest? Did your car become quite now
It became much quieter from wind and road noise after the addition of the foam tape. Seems to improve at least wind noise on any car/truck/suv. If you give it a try reply back. Interested to know if it worked.
I called Toyota and there is a Technical Safety Bulletin 0170-16, however it is under warranty for the first 36 months or 3 years of purchase. They know there's a problem, but won't issue a recall. I'm doing this modification.
@@bobbygfl OO gotcha. damn waffler! I have this high pitched whistle that goes off at 60-65mph. I am slowly loosing my sanity while going through a lot of tape.
Part number is 6786204062 for front driver side (left) door or 6786104062 for front passenger (right) door. I had to look it up because I've got this problem myself now after some recent work a body shop did on my driver side door (they tore the seal when they pulled it off and put it back on).
@@bobbygfl I've read similar comments and think you're right. I'm actually trying your approach first (adding the extra marine-grade strip of rubber) but I may have to buy the part too in my case since the original strip is ripped in addition to just having the design flaw.

Oh well it’s worth a call to see.
i've never heard of the dealer taking care of anyone on this issue. lame! thanks for the comment!
you just get rid of my painful stress
Jimmy Song that’s awesome!!
@@thewhitekid2177 thanks!!
That’s awesome! Thanks for the comment
It never crossed my mind, Thanks! Package is coming tomorrow so I will leave the update 👍
You’ll be amazed how quiet it will be!!
@@bobbygfl I didn't expect so much difference, from road to wind noice is definitely more then 65- 70% better. I live in Germany and on autobahn ppl drive really fast. Huge, huge difference! Thank you again
@@beyondself4344 that’s awesome you experienced what I experienced. I was blown away. Thanks for the comment
This seems to be the case for 3rd Gen Tacomas. fricking drives me nuts when on the highway! I'll try this and I really hope it works!
Awesome I'm about to do this on my 3rd gen. Been looking for some ways to minimize the wind noise.
Glad I could help
Is there a certain size of the weather seal? Like the width etc. I have the issue w/ a 13 Sequoia. Drives me batty!
1/2 i'd say is the minimum. it'll do wonders!
Might this work per whistling noise after removing an Air Dam from a 'Tacoma Limited' or the other Tacoma Trims with Air Dams like the 'Tacoma TRD Sport & 'Tacoma SR5 Trim ??
Great tip thank you. I ended up removing those trims because of the tire problem but in this case all the wind noise was within the door
In the description of the video, I put as much info as I could, and also has links. Thank you for the compliment.
Thanks!
asmith 2245 ive heard that. Total bummer. I hate noises! Lol. Anyway good luck. Many have said it works on lots of vehicles.
asmith 2245: Did you try this fix?
What size "d" seal from TACO did you use? I see three different sizes on their website.
3/4 is best. Or the metric equivalent
Can this cause water to get it ?
My carpet is damp, I can’t find the leak.
If anything this would help water stay out. Good luck finding the lake thanks for the comment
Love all your Tacoma videos brother! Thanks !
David Ugarte thank you!!
I have a f150 and in having this same issue. I wonder if this will work for me?
I bet it will. High end cars have two layers of foam. Cuts a lot of noise.
@@bobbygfl ok man. I'm going to try this. I wonder which size seal do I need?
1/2 to 3/8 should work. As long as it squashes when the door closes.
Will this work for a 2013 Chevy Silverado
I was looking at a Ford raptor the other day and they have a rubber molding right at the separation between the panels. In my opinion this will work for any vehicle or truck.
Thanks
I did not hear it stated, but I assume that one does both sides of the vehicle. Correct? Since it is difficult to know which side of the vehicle needs it, it makes sense to apply the window seal to both sides of the truck/car. Please amplify this issue. Thanks!
Yes, I did both sides. But in my case the noise was mainly from the passenger side.
Im trying to find the new toyota part number you mentioned @ :23, just curious what they did different and what new clips were used. Where did you find that info?
The dealer told me that. They said that when they have to do a warranty on this, they change that seal. I don’t know the part number.
Loud waffling baffle sound. Best I can describe it.
This fix works! My 2016 access cab had a howl that sounded like a kazoo in a crosswind at highway speed. Nice and silent now! Thank you so much for posting this and the link for the size of weather strip needed!
Awesome! Thanks!!
They come in 10’ only, for $30 each. So do I need 2 of them?
Yes
What size should I get for 21 Tacoma
3/8 is what I would use.
great vid! I was having this problem with my grand am and this is definitely an easy and cheap solution!
Thanks!!
Does it work on any toyota cars? Or any other makes at all?
most higher end cars already have this extra seal. yes it will make a difference on any car.
Having this same problem. Ordered today. Hope it works.LF and RF gaskets are $103 a piece, then installation. Not covered under my new Toyota Platinum warranty. Fingers crossed. Will post after install
Barry Cliborn it’ll work!!
Worked, no more honking noise. However, I seem to have gained a little wind noise. Much better than that honking noise.
Maybe peal it off and reposition further in the door jam. For the first few days you may be able to reposition.
What is the make and size of the stripping used? Part number from Taco?
If you look through the comments I believe you’ll find it also it should be in the notes on the video
I take it the seal is D shape? Is it 1/2” wide or smaller? Also is the D about 1/2” thick/tall?
Yes. It’s d shaped. About 1/2 by 1/2 up to 3/8 seems to work best
Weather stripping solution still working 2 yrs later?
Yes still working perfectly
4 years later.. how has this held up?
I sold the truck a year ago but yes. Solved the problem.
Would a Euro rain deflector fix this issue?
Probably not because the noise is being caused by the gap of the door and has nothing to do with the window.
I have read that the adhesive is not good is it holding still until now?
Marvin Bugarin holding perfectly. Hasn’t budged. Frankly I don’t even notice it anymore. Looks factory.
@@bobbygfl great thanks! Ill be doing this
Does this stop water leaks when it’s raining
LINYC I suppose it would. That’s what the foam seal is actually designed for.
Do you find that while the howling noise is gone, the general wind and road noise is more since the rest of the door is not sealed as tightly? Have you tried putting this foam only on the affected area?
I only did what you see in the video and it knocked out the buffing and eliminated some road noise for sure
Since installing the weatherproof seal, have you noticed the traffic/outside noise lessening? I just bought a Toyota Highlander ‘21 and wind & traffic noise unbearable. Dealer told me this is how car is made, so looking for a quick fix.
Yes. Both wind and traffic noise are less. Even if someone is talking it’s much less. You need to roll down the window to hear them.
Nathan Fincher - did you try this on your Highlander? I have the same issue with my '20 - Toyota tells me this is a "normal characteristic of the vehicle" we have tried a new hood seal, new side mirror, nothing has helped the wind noise. I am desperate for a solution
hmm....road noise is terrible on my 3rd gen access cab ...wonder if this would help
DirtRider WR250R it may. It did cut down on more than just the hum. I’d do it all the way around if you can.
What if my Toyota Camry xse 2018 makes sound too???
If you have a chance to look at a Mercedes or BMW they (some models at least) have two rows of foam. All you’re really doing is adding that extra foam closer to the wind source which makes a huge difference. In my opinion it would work on any car
What size of seal do you use because they have different sizes?
3/8 to 5/8 will work.
Thanks for the comment!
How long did the adhesive last until it starts to wear off if it ever did?
This is a one and done I still have this truck and the adhesive has never failed. It also has never made that noise again. Thanks for the comment
Around 75mph it really has a distinctive wind noise that sounds like it's coming from exactly where you pointed at
CJ put some masking tape over the door seem from the outside and drive it as a test to see if goes away. Cheep way to be sure first maybe.
@@bobbygfl I'm way late on a reply..Definitely need to try this..great video
May I ask you about how efficient is it after 2 years? a lot has recommended me not to do it because it will make an extra space between the doors and the car’s body and then the noise will be a lot worse than before.
Still working. Wind noise is significantly less and the vibration sound has never returned. The idea that a foam gasket could create extra space between a metal car door is ridiculous. The metal would have to bend in order for that to occur. Anyway thanks for the comment it’s working great I’m glad I did it.
@@bobbygfl thanks for your reply. I really appreciate it
What is the sizing on that bag? My 2014 Taco has been doing that for years when there’s wind at higher speeds.
It’s 1/2 by 1/2 but anything that’s between 1/2 and 3/8 tall will work.
@@frankherring6253 awesome!
What size did you use?
5/8” is best
Ben Gonzales that’s great! I’ve heard of it coming and going. Then some never do it. Weird.
Hey brother I have that problem on my brand new Toyota Camry and believe it or not, people at the dealer can’t fix it. Where did you buy this product. Thanks 🙏🏻 for sharing and replaying back
West marine or Amazon. Search d shaped double stick gasket. Comes in 6’ lengths.
@bobbygfl I appreciate it. This wind noise is driving me nuts. 42K car and this problem
What size of weather strip did you install? I see several options on the Website for TACO Marine.
Eric Day the actual taco part number i used is in the video description. I’m not sure the size.
Does the seal take the paint off?
No
No not at all.
Wouldn't it be better to put it on the door itself, so it doesn't look so tacky in the door jam when the door is open?
I suppose it would work either way.
@@bobbygfl sounds good. I will get one from Amazon and work on it. My car has good insulation but I am picky..
Will this work on a 2012 tacoma? Mine looks exactly like yours just the year difference 😁
I think this will work on any car any model in fact when you look at Mercedes Mercedes or BMW they have already done it.
I have a 2003 Tacoma, I thought the whistling sound was coming from the right side vent. Will have to give this a try.
T Spenser me too! It’ll work.
I called Toyota and there is a Technical Safety Bulletin 0170-16, however it is under warranty for the first 36 months or 3 years of purchase. They know there's a problem, but won't issue a recall. I'm doing this modification.
Love Toyota but…
is it a high pitch sound? like a dog whistle?
No. It’s a deeper flapping waffling sound that this fixed.
@@bobbygfl OO gotcha. damn waffler! I have this high pitched whistle that goes off at 60-65mph. I am slowly loosing my sanity while going through a lot of tape.

Will this reduce cabin noise for a 2005 Toyota sienna?
retrogamer149 it’ll likely work on any vehicle. I think just adding an additional seal closer to the edge will improve any car’s wind noise.
I'm thinking about doing this, any clue what the Toyota part number is? I will likely do this method anyways just curious.
Joe Maffattone no idea. I know it’s way more expensive though.
Part number is 6786204062 for front driver side (left) door or 6786104062 for front passenger (right) door. I had to look it up because I've got this problem myself now after some recent work a body shop did on my driver side door (they tore the seal when they pulled it off and put it back on).
Bart McDonough I’ve heard even with the new part there’s still the noise.
@@bobbygfl I've read similar comments and think you're right. I'm actually trying your approach first (adding the extra marine-grade strip of rubber) but I may have to buy the part too in my case since the original strip is ripped in addition to just having the design flaw.
Bart McDonough ah. Yes, the strip I added is just for wind. If my factory one was torn I’d replace it. I’d be concerned water would get by.
Appreciate the content! Very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
