Swapped my radiator's fan shroud once, remember there being top brackets to move so you can tilt radiator forward to get maximum room and there's a plastic cover near washer reservoir behind front left tire that needs moved it's got an E-Torx bolt to undo. and there's a mini hose up top that has to pop out and fluid will get everywhere.
Gotcha. I don’t think I had to worry about that since the shroud was already out haha
Thanks!
😁👍🏼
Nice work my radiator is bent like that to its been that way since i bought it now i see how its gotta be done thanks 👌🏼
Yeah, had a little corrosion around the top so I figured it was time to replace it anyways!
Did you need any special tools for removing/installing the transmission lines into the radiator?
no its just a big socket; don't recall the exact size off the top of my head
@@AutoAutopsy thx. On the 2008 9-3 2.8, it had just these funky little clips. Wasn’t too difficult.
@@montanaharkin hey bro can you describe how to get those clips off and what you used, thanks!
@@JULY-pp8jk I used a small pick to pull out the metal clip that was retaining the line. Then to reinstall I put the clip back in, then pushed the transmission hose in firmly and it snapped into place
@@montanaharkin thanks!!
LOL about the dirty headlamps!! NO big deal.
I used the $10 headlight-resto-kit from Harbor Freight with the different grits of water-sanding paper, polishing compound and the drill attachment. They now look like new. Should be super easy to do while they are out of your car. Otherwise it's a PIA to avoid scuffing the surrounding painted surfaces. Sooooo much brighter too. Went from dull yellow to Crystal clear and bright. Long live the ARC's.
Seriously one of the best "upgrades" for the 9-3: Crystal clear headlights. Made my 05 look new at first glance. Takes about an hour each if you take your time and do a good job. Hopefully I can find the before and after pics and send them to you.
Have fun with her!
Thanks! I'll look into that :)
I enjoy seeing the Turbo X, but I've missed seeing the Arc, as they're wayyy more common :)
That’s for sure 😂 glad you’re enjoying the vids
I use chevron gas only and every few years throw some techron in the tank and it keeps my pcv system and intake nice and clean. It would be interesting to test injector flow before and after throwing some in. I love that stuff though.
Nice. I Try to give my 9-3’s Shell only!
; ) That's my backup I trust them. I just have seen large carbon deposits on my valves disappear over the past 5 years of using chevrons gas.
@@AutoAutopsy if Shell has to be nitro in premium only
would have been perfect time to upgrade that intercooler :)
Yeah, definitely needs to happen...I really considered it but I’ve spent a pretty good chunk of change on all of these parts so I’m gonna hold off for now
How hard is it to work on a saab
@@stocks4bt pretty easy compared to other european cars
@@AutoAutopsy that's what I wanted to do,but running out of money, did get a new condenser though, and honeycomb mesh, so going to try getting that on,also going to get as much rust off while stripped and paint it,saabs FOREVER,thanks for the videos keep them coming
Any other cooling system changes?
T stat, water pump ,hoses ?
Nope!
how to bleed out the air in coolant system on saab 9-3? help please
Saab 9-3 Aero Lip easy time to polish those headlights like the turbo x
Yessir!
Great video. I have a 2006 9-3 w/auto and wondering if I need to remove the core support to pull the cooling fans? Thanks,
maybe; it certainly will make it MUCH easier
How did you remove radiator at the bottom, is that undone underneath the black rubber washers things
remove the two support brackets that are bolted to the subframe
@@AutoAutopsy there as rusty as fxxk, will try,I actually how shall I say gentley pushed down on them and radiator suddenly popped out,I have 2 more saabs, will try to do bracket way, good soaking first wd40 ,just today from amazon got some of those star socket things
I’m about to do the radiator replacement this weekend and I’m a little nervous. My indi mechanic said $600 and I already just paid $1200 to do my clutch and axel seals. Noooo shot. Was seeing that there are some steps that I have questions about in the installation process. Like I need a step by step process lol
Check Saab WIS. This video should suffice for instructions, but if not, check there
Im guessing its an aero lip in the box\
Genius
Every NG 9-3 needs one, they look awful without one!
A question: Would you be so kind to recommend where I can buy a performance fan shroud for my Saab 9-3, 2.8L, 2008 year. Where I live it get's around 50 degrees celsius, and my engine temperatures are reading about 105-110 even though I've replaced everything including the radiator, intercooler and hoses to Do88. I really appreciate your help. Thanks.
do88 would be the only place i could think of that might have. maybe mishimoto
So the radiator on the automatic don’t work for the manuals 9-3? Just to be clear with the question is the radiator interchangeable on the automatic and manual?
Yes auto won’t work for manual because the auto doesn’t have the transmission lines
They are swappable actually but only if yu use an auto rad on manual car. You have to make sure that the trans coolant ports are capped. Yu just can't use a manual rad on auto car
It's an intercooler??? ... Ah so that's the radiator. . I see so the one on the front is that the intercooler . ??? Reason I ask is because I been having a situation in which the car temp gauge takes quite sometime bro warm up till it gets to the middle (9 o'clock) but in the scanner the temperature keeps rising up .. it doesn't overheats on the dashboard i don't have leaks coolant is on the level where in needs to b and I found a den on the bottom.. i was curious to see where u get the rest of the coolant out when I first change the thermostat i found a lot of like clay? Now that I'm checking the system 5 months later I don't have that clay my coolant comes out clean just the resevoir i have to order. I'm talking here like if on SAAB Central lol
I’m having trouble understanding what you’re asking. I would post about this on some saab Facebook groups. Yes, the Intercooler is located in front of the radiator. There shouldn’t be “clay” in your cooling system.
@auto can you please share where do you buy your spar parts from?
I live in Abu Dhabi and I have saab 93 Aero and can’t find radiator neither the fan for it
Can you please recommend any online apart part shop?
i'm not sure where you can find parts where you live; i'd advise posting about this in some international saab facebook groups.
When schould The fans start are They on all time or is it only when its hot?
They aren’t always on
Would like to know if those light assemblies are hid or halogen
No HID :( only Aero came with the HIDs
Thank you i belive you just solved my 93 arc issue.
Ive got to ask, did you feel like the car was say smoother or ran more quietly, any increase of mpg anything you noticed with the new radiator in the car compared to the old one.
nope, not at all!
Would love to get some advice on my 2007 9-3
Recently someone pulled out in front of us on a yield, causing us to T-bone them
If it would, at all, be possible to get in communications, I can send you pictures
I have the bumper/fenders off, AC condenser and intercooler pulled, along with most of their hoses
The impact bar/bumper reinforcement took one heck of a hit, and it needs to come off, currently in the process of getting that done
I'm worried I'm in over my head now, but the car is my late father's, and restoring it is a non-negotiable in my mind
Appreciate the helpful videos
So sorry to hear! I’m glad you’re taking on the challenge of saving it. You can reach me via IG (preferred) or email. Both are in the description
Did you have to remove ac lines to get to fans?
Nope!
@@AutoAutopsy thanks bro
..doing ecm with tune than if fan stillnwont come on will tackle that beast atm
Where did u get the new fan shroud from? I have to replace mine as well as the radiator
bought it used. I'd recommend you do the same, it'll save you a lot of money :)
@@AutoAutopsy ok thank you & keep up the great content
What plans do you have for this car?
Good question, haha. Not completely sure yet!!
@@AutoAutopsy okay
What site did you buy your radiator from
Www.esaabparts.com
good vid 👍, a lot of work for one day
Took 2 days haha
Aero lip in the box!?
👍🏼
I want a Automatic Turbo X, I like the v6 lol
*manual
Auto Autopsy I can’t drive a stick lol
Upgraded intercooler in the box.
I wish, lol
@@AutoAutopsy I've installed a Mitsubishi EVO 8 intercooler in my Saab.
Yeah it's the Aero spoiler lip
👏🏼
BTW, with the last generation Saabs, this job was much easier (up to 2002).
lol yeah, probably!
A box of Puppies? 🐶 By the way, do you think that it’s a two man job. It looks difficult?
Lol! And yeah, especially for certain steps it really helps to have someone above/below
I bet it's vinal wrap!
Nope!
Not at all showing how to remove the old one, That IS What I need !
I bought my Saab!!!!!! 2009 9-3 V6 Aero 6sp with XWD it GROWLS. It's currently in the Boston area awaiting a clutch swap. Now just need a driver to be flown to BOS to drive car back to Texas my idiot friend is threatening to bail because best flight I could find him is via United and he wants American. (I'm paying/getting points not him so what does it matter???)
Lol nice! Sounds like your friend is a bit difficult
I talked him in and he's finally convinced United it is.
As for car, as is, need strong elbow to change gears, but ince in gear drives smoothly.
Got it dropped off at Boston area shop requesting to have clutch pieces and slave cylinder replaced. Hopefully flywheel isn't effected by hard to shift gear changing because I'm not in the mood for a $600 flywheel. Also asked them if they can go ahead and knock out engine rear seal while they got $%&€ pulled apart.
4 hour job from hell !
You know, the Miata is good Saab parts money.
*Hint hint wink wink nudge nudge*
Lol
