RTD says that Torchwood was first used as a fake production name to conceal that something was related to Doctor Who. Later on he thought of making it something in-universe.
@@iaingeo Yeah, it was used before Doctor Who's return to the TV since 1989 was announced. It was quite a big deal, so they wanted to keep it quiet until they were ready to announce it.
Billy, this is why you’re one of my favourite Doctor Who reactors! I had a big smile on my face watching your different reactions as Rose slipped away towards the void. You must have been thinking, “This is it. This is how Rose died!” Only for me to smile again when you saw Pete rescue Rose. The relief on your face was evident when you knew she had been saved. Way to go! This is why, for me, Doctor Who is THE sci-fi show to watch! It’s why I’ve been watching It since 1970 because it can have you laughing one minute and have you crying the next. It can fill your heart with hope or have that Hope taken away in an instant. Loving your reactions and can’t wait for you to enjoy season 3 (IMO a much better season than 2) with hardly a dud story in it, but with a run of brilliant stories towards the end of the season that I think will absolute amaze and terrify you. So looking forward to it! Best wishes from the U.K. 🇬🇧
This was so nice Andrew thank you! I was actually crying over and over editing that scene. Feeling it even more then I did here. I said this on my patreon today but David T scream is one of the best acting moments I’ve ever seen. I’m so excited to continue the show I hear great things for even the next 3 seasons! So hype!
@@BillyKearneyReacts oh yeah, IMO season 4 is better than season 3 and then it goes absolutely bonkers in seasons 5, 6 and 7. I can’t wait to see you watching these episodes, with your mouth wide open and you’re thinking to yourself, “WTF! WTF! WTF!” over and over again! These seasons are gonna blow your mind Billy. Can’t wait for it!
Little funfact about the daleks. When they shoot the cybermen, they try to hit the emotional inhibitor to cause maximum pain. Not only the pain of dying a painful death, but also the pain of being a cyberman. That's also why the cybermen scream after being shot by the daleks
After Christopher Eccleston decided to leave, Billie set a timeline for when she would end her run as the companion (whether that's this episode or a later episode I'll leave for you to find out).
Ikr! I was so scared because two other reactioners who have watched these episodes recently have been spoiled the plot by comments and I’m VEXED! So glad he got to watch it to its fullest potential! Either way Ik it would be a great reaction tho as per 💅
@@CalDeanOffical I caught that too. Either a grade schooler who is trying to prove him/her self or someone older so desperate to seem relevant they don’t notice or care if they leave damage in their wake. Really sad. Pity they can’t be directed to some appropriate group where they can make friends but I suspect they’re changing their handle all the time so they aren’t really identifiable. It would be funny if it was a radical Star War fan. Or worse, Speed Racer…
When first saw this ep, when it first aired in the US, I already knew something was going to happen to Rose. But I balled my eyes out after he disappeared. I think I almost missed the Bride I was crying so hard.
The Beach used was Southerndown Beach in Dunraven Bay in the Vale of Glamorgan, which is next to Cardiff. Used to go there a lot as a child, great for finding fossils!
Great reaction to this emotional rollercoaster of an episode. Looking forward to seeing the next two series - they are great! Consistently good episodes, some great characters and a few notable actors. I think actors sometimes don't want to stay on DW for too long because they are concerned about typecasting. Billie Piper's next role was very different to Rose. I believe you are in Florida - hope you are OK.
Billy, you're right North Americans tend to use the word "villain" mostly in fantasy or melodrama as it's seems a bit theatrical to us. However in British police shows; the cop characters will often use the term "villain" whereas North American police shows, they would say "bad guy" or "perp".
Although Billie Piper was a household name in the UK, she wasn't known as an actor. Series 1 changed that, and she decided quite early on that she'd leave at the end of Series 2 so she could try other things. She soon went on to play the lead in a handful of one-off dramas, and then in "The Secret Diary of a Call Girl" (which ran for several years). David Tennant also encouraged her to try her hand at theatre work, which she did, going on to win a number of awards. It's rumoured that for Series 2 she was paid more than Tennant was!
The Daleks and the Cybermen are one of the most iconic villains in the shows history and the Daleks are what made the show a hit in the first place of course their going to come back at some point 😂.
Rose is my favorite doctor who character I didn't watch for months after this. I loved her and the doctor together. Chris and Billie were great and I love them but her and Tennant became life long friends as well and it shows just genuine heartache on screen. The behind the scenes make it sadder because billie is crying and hugging David and David's sitting alone looking despondent in a car at one point. It sucks because bad wolf rose new this was going to happen. 😢
Rose is always in our (and The Doctor’s) hearts! Still, remember that some people consider verbal mentions, flashbacks to previously-seen footage, or even static images of a particular character to be a “reappearance.” So, I’d take any such “spoilers” with a grain of salt. 🌹😵💫⁉️ TLDR: Truth and misdirection are equally likely when it comes to the Who-niverse and its fans
6:11 yeah theres a few games. All of the ones from the reboot are set a lot later in the show than the point you're at though. Also while I had fun with a couple of them there's only one I would say is actually good and the Doctor isn't even in it.
No this is definately the final regular appearance of Rose it was Billie Piper's decision to move on as she wanted to pursue other projects. But that's always been the tradition with the show in the last 61 years Doctors and companions come and go which is how the show kept going and yes it happens just like that.
Billie actually planned to leave with Chris at the end of S01, but he convinced her to stay on an do one more series believing it would be a better career decision.
I totally understand the Sarah Jane thing because it's kind of a Goosebumps thing for the CBBC . cheesy but not scary but thanks for having plans for doing Torchwood
If I may, I have a video recommendation for you. This video has no spoilers and is just a spoof of the scene where the Daleks meet the Cybermen. The title is "The Bitch Fight of Canary Wharf" by Joe Vevers. Note: if you check this out, only watch this one. 100% recommend as it is absolutely hilarious and will only take up 3 mins of ur day.
lol my mind was all over the place. I’m a bit ahead but yeah let just not say anything right now. Cause really anything can happen but I’m assuming she never comes back.. (don’t tell me lol)
They are all great, until the second of the Doctor who follow the next Doctor and those after that one. But of course thats all just personal taste and i hope thats all obscure enough to not be a spoiler.
FYI Torchwood: it is thematically mature; it isn’t a tits & ass type of mature rating. The “sex” as such would pass a TV-14 today, if not a TV-PG. DW has a hard truth: Doctors come and go; companions come and go. All gone but never forgotten. See you at the marriage… (?)
Upon a little reflection: a few of the episodes are definitely TV-14, and unlike DW violent scenes can be bloody-and language isn’t for kiddies. Just to be fair. 🌝
So avoiding the TV show entirely. Big Finish audio dramas feature nearly every major actor in the shows history. Even Adam from series 1 makes an apperance in the Ninth Doctors Adventures collection. Sarah Jane had a whole slew of audio drama outings. No one ever truly leaves Doctor Who. Theres always more tales to be told. Its just that not all of them are on TV.
@@joshuajoshua2732 that doesn't have anything to do with it. there are several other openly gay characters, Jake was clearly the victim of an overstuffed narrative. NuWho has never had a problem showing gay characters.
In case no one has mentioned it, it’s kinda cool that “torchwood” is an anagram of “doctor who”.
OMFG. You are the first person! That was planned or a crazy coincidence?
