See there it is. When people who pray this way or rather they think they're praying. Fact is that they love to hear themselves say out loud in front of others how oh I was praying in the spirit. As if somehow everyone else is a lesser Christian. Or everyone else doesn't really have the Holy Spirit
I suffered a tragic loss two weeks ago, a loss so severe and traumatizing that I was unable to articulate what I wanted to say and ask for in prayer. As I cried, Romans 8:26-28 came to mind. It was a profound comfort for me to remember that God’s Holy Spirit could intercede for me. Now, two weeks out, I am still in shock and grief stricken, and I’m still praying with the help of God’s Holy Spirit. What an awesome God we have to help us through every aspect of our lives. And what blessing it is to know He has us firmly in His grip when we need Him most.
It’s amazing no matter how you break it down in God’s truth ppl will still hold on to their feelings. Help us all LORD we all fall short somewhere. God bless ✝️✝️✝️

YES! #4. I had a discipler who was a Charismatic, and we used to get into it over this verse! I was a young believer and I'd get so scared that I was missing out and I didn't have the Holy Spirit...God is SO good because He always encouraged me on to "just keep going." Just keep praying, worshipping, studying. If it's that important and true, I'll understand it later. I finally just kept going and here I am, praise Jesus! Thanks, Pastor Allen, for sharing this. Also in your book.
We ought not to glorify tongues above God, and neither should we relegate the Holy Spirit to just tongues. God is above all things, and His Holy Spirit is a person that is enabling His power and Will through us unto His full work. We must begin to see as the Lord sees. Alot of the arguments are foolishness.

Many years ago my church split over the issue of tongues. The tongues group said that the rest of us didn’t have the Holy Spirit because tongues were the evidence. They suggested the rest of us weren’t real Christians. So sad.
The Bible clearly tells us at 1 Corinthians 13:8 that gifts of the spirit such as tongues would CEASE! This ended when all of the apostles died by the end of the first century C.E. It was necessary when the early Christian congregation was established to show it had God’s backing. Jesus knew this would come to an end, so the way to identify “true Christians” today is what we find at John 13:35: “By this all will know that you are my disciples-if you have love among yourselves.” Self-sacrificing love identifies true Christians, not speaking in tongues. Speaking in tongues was having the ability to speak in foreign languages, not gibberish!
Thank you for this, Allen. It bothers me to see so many Pentecostals and Charismatics pray in gibberish and call it “tongues.” I pray for them that their eyes are opened.

Thank you. This verse was often misused in my old church, another way I too often felt excluded. Really appreciate the breakdown here. Makes much more sense to me.
This is a VERY specific answer to my prayer about this exact issue! I asked God for clarity and truth about praying in tongues and here it is. Praise God!
I speak in tongues against what I was taught. I wasn’t around it but I have it. And I didn’t ask for it but received it. I didn’t make it happen on my own. And recently when watching a Hebrew praise and worship song I learned some of what I pray in tongues is Hebrew for Holy, etc. it’s amazing. However, when I read “groanings” I think more of when I’m heartbroken and can’t even make words through my tears that the Holy Spirit is praying for me.
This is good…I do speak in tongues, but there has been times when I’ve been so deeply hurt that I can only groan/cry…I can’t even pray. Wonderful to know He helps me at those times ✝️🙏

For Facts! When you know you know. When God convicts you of Truth for many of us we cannot conform to fit in or not speak up to what we know to be true. It is biblical to be gentle when teaching what one may oppose. At the end of the day we will all stand before God and no one should be mad that he is studying and teaching the same way they are promoting their error regarding teaching tongues, people not Spirit filled when they don't speak tongues, what exactly tongues is, etc. The strong focus on tongues and not salvation is what keeps me focused on true KINGDOM agenda. The use of the original language is critical to understanding the scriptures. Words change meaning over time, anyone can make a passage fit their purpose by using their modern definition of a word. The Bible is firm, not changing, and must be read and taught in it's original context. Nice work on this video.
Thankfully there are verses that don’t need the translation of just one word but also can use context. “For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries.” 1 Corinthians 14:2 NASB1995 If tongue only means language why does Paul infer speaking to God and not men? Why can no one understand if it’s an understandable language like English? Why is he speaking of mysteries?
The way Isaiah Saldivar uses this verse to defend that gibberish tounges is so sad. They promote their experiences more than the scripture and it leads to deception. Thanks brother Allen for this teaching

You are speaking against the Holy Spirit. Why do risk blaspheming him (a sin that will never be forgiven) when you clearly have no understanding of how the Holy Spirit works or why Jesus would baptize use in the Holy Spirit and fire. Speaking in tongues is not an experience. It is completely supported by the bible. What will I do? I will pray in the Spirit (tongues) and I will pray with understanding (native tongue). 1Corinth14:15 God is Spirit, his worshipers MUST worship him in the Spirit (tongues) and in truth, for this is the type of worshiper God seeks. @lilchristuten7568 God is sovereign, which means that He has absolute power with or without me. That said, I ought to pursue a relationship with Him and let Him use me any way that he sees fit. Translation: I don't have to force God's prophetic word written in Mark 16:17, as God, being sovereign, already has it orchestrated. It's therefore wise for me to be in concert with faith and relationship in Him. As it is written, many will say on judgment, I prophesied, cast out demons, preached, played instruments, sang, and spoken in tongues in your name. God will say to some. Depart from me, you are a worker of iniquity. I never knew you. God, who knows all things, knows the difference between an idolatrous heart versus intimacy. Translation: I don't know you being in to me see. Get it? God knows intimacy versus those who are more in love with spiritual power than they are in the power of the cross. God has it correct in the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ because that's exactly what the human heart needs. A death, burial, and resurrection in His word and in Jesus. Lastly, if we have not "love," then the foundation of the faith is lost. We need to sharpen each other in the correlation between love and God, as love is the gravity that this faith is physic too. The American church skipped the main course of Christianity to chew on appetizers. That's called bad spiritual priorities. The gift of Jesus Christ is where God dropped the mic and will leave all of mankind bowing, saying that He is Lord.
@@mrdanielleebrown God is sovereign yes, but no that does not mean that He has absolute power. You really did a great job of explaining that. As someone who grew up in a radical charismatic church during my childhood and teenage years, this is a great encouragement to really read and study the Bible contextually. Instead of leaving the church life altogether, I always knew that reading and studying the Bible properly is an important key to making sense out of scripture that is not easily understood, especially in today's modern time. Roman 8:26 is indeed often used as "proof" of a "prayer language" in charismatic churches. But what I have also noticed is that as soon as one tries to correctly interpret or counter-argue Romans 8:26, the charismatics always immediately pull out 2 Timothy 3:5 ("having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away." ) as a "weapon" to silence the person, so that no one dares to interpret the passage correctly. I've heard many charismatic say, if you don't believe that Romans 8:26 is "a prayer language", or "the gift of tongues", then you are apparently "denying the power (of the holy spirit) thereof". I know that this passage too is often taken out of context by charismatics, but how would you proceed or counter-argue that? I have some family members who are still relatively strongly charismatically influenced and sometimes there is a very tense atmosphere in family discussions when it comes to such topics. Could you perhaps also do a series of topics like this that addresses precisely these issues?

Speaking in tongues is a gift from God but not many people realise there are two types of tongues. One is a sign that comes when you believe in Christ, the other is gift that not everyone will have. Jesus said in Mark 16:17 (KJV) And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; The tongues that Jesus was talking about in Mark 16:17 are the ones mentioned in 1 Corinthians 14:2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. Also in . . 1 Corinthians 14:14 (NKJV) For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. Earlier I mentioned there was a second kind of tongue. These are the tongues most people are more likely to see as a miracle when spoken in front of someone you know. 1 Corinthians 12:28 (KJV) And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. The tongues spoken of above are the ones mentioned in Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. . . Acts 2:6-8 (NKJV) And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? “And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? Although, not every believer will speaks in these tongues as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12:30 Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret? Both these scriptures in Mark and Corinthians are confirmed in 1 Corinthians 13:1 where it says, Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. They were sold black. No whites of the eye, no pupils, no color. The other time, my friend was running around the church chanting and occasionally yelling, "Come on church." I am an Army veteran I been around the world. I can recognize language no matter where I was. I may not understand, but I recognize it is a language. I believe that what they have received is demonic or self glorifying. They believe that you are not saved until you speak in tongues. God also showed me the pastor of this church. He was presented to me as Joel Olstine. Because I questioned their theology, I was banished and from ever returning to the church. That day, the pastor was very aggressive to me and got into my face for no reason. I saw the evil in this man. I only told him that I forgive him and departed never to return. My friends nor anyone in the church would ever talk to me again. I pray for them. I thought the purpose of church was to save souls. Not in this church, evidently. I know that I have been born again. It was an instantaneous transformation of my life. I was a man of the world. Now, I just feel like I am an observer watching the world spiraling into the pit of hell.
Man I cried watching this for some reason it's been a very rough season for me no friends not much family physically there and I've had no words to vent or anything as a new member I could use some prayers my heart is full and head is lost 💔 😔
As a person who recently received the gift of praying in tongues, I started to watch this video, but the Holy Spirit told me to stop, since I struggle with a bit of doubt it is not good for me to listen to this. This verse came to me, But Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, since you do not understand the Scriptures nor the power of God.” Matthew 22:29. -NASB. How did I get the gift? I asked for it. Seek and you will find. God Bless.
I was walking past a multistorey carpark and I saw police cars, ambulance and a black van outside. I thought someone had died. I did not know what to pray, so I asked Holy Spirit to pray for me and "Lord, preserve his life" came to mind. It turned out that a man had just left prison and had OD'd on H. The police said that they had revived him but I actually put them straight and told them that God did it.
Nice, so you've been able to supernaturally speak a foreign language for the purpose of sharing the Gospel? Was there an interpreter there or was God using you in front of native speakers?
@@six_twentythree That's your interpretation of tongues, my brother, and as you know, not every believer subscribes to it. Given that this is not an essential doctrine, I think we can all respect people's position on this controversial subject. Btw, I share Allen's take on Rom 8:26 but I believe there is such a thing as being baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues.
@@py20 yep I do too, except that tongues isn’t gibberish, it’s the speaking of a foreign language supernaturally for the purpose of sharing the Gospel. Still happens today! Gibberish isn’t tongues.
I felt moved to respond to you. Historically, the church in Corinth was quite diverse, having people from different parts of the world. Paul was addressing the speaking of foreign languages with no interpretation. He is clarifying what he am said in the beginning of 1 Corinthians 14, he is not forbidding the speaking of tongues as long as there's interpretation
Firstly, the Spirit of God MUST dwell in you! I agree, speaking in tongues is not mentioned specifically. To say it should NEVER mean tongues is going further than the text reveals. Praying in the spirit is only available to those who are in Christ. You can pray in the Spirit with the gift of tongues or without the gift. You can also sing. Praying in the spirit is allowing the Holy Spirit to strengthen and assist us in our prayers. He stirs us up to pray, puts words in our mouths, gives strength of faith, he stirs up groans in the saints. It is certainly not dangerous to speak or pray in tongues which is a gift from the Holy Spirit. By the way, this passage cannot be used as a proof text to say the gift of tongues has ceased.
What I always wonder about the gift of tongues is, where are all the interpreters? I'm not sure about angelic languages and tongues in that sense as I don't speak in tongues myself. But we never hear of interpretations of tongues, but so many seems to speak in tongues.
Thank you for this Allan. I unfortunately grew up feeling I wasn't saved unless I spoke in tounges. So I would mimic my mom as she spoke in tongues thinking that is what I was supposed to do. I learned through brothers like you later that this isn't a gift for everybody.
I really hope and pray that you haven’t stopped praying for the gift of tongues. If and when it happens…. it will be supernatural and glorious. You will know the power of God when it falls upon you….. I’ll look forward to that video….
With all due respect, the Bible doesn't teach that we are to ask God to give us additional spiritual gifts. According to 1 Corinthians 12:7 11, it is the Holy Spirit who distributes the gifts to us AS HE WILLS. So, I appreciate your comment, but it is not biblical to ask God for spiritual gifts.
Gotta be honest, I'm kinda tired of the tongues debate from both sides.. if someone wants to express themselves with or without tongues it shouldn't matter. The only thing that matters is coming to God with faith, which both sides do. Why do so many care about how others express their faith?
Allen used to fake speaking in tongues so he thinks everyone faking … the same way Justin love to call every new prophets fake … they are definitely speaking partly from traumatic experiences… I believe that charismatics have abusée of the gifts but the real thing do exist .
I think that praying in tongues when alone might be a good way to communicate prayers from the spirit instead of from emotions and personal preferences.
I’ve been watching your videos for a many years now Mr Allen Parr, I’m 26 y/o and believe that maturity is not exclusive to age but origins from God and His Infinite knowledge and wisdom. With that said it’s great to watch you debunk topics that you’re passionate about when it comes to our faith. Yes, I may disagree with you on a few topics and I believe that’s due to our exposure to the world and environment, regardless I love how you approach your ministry and commend your growth over the years I’ve been listening to you. With the few videos I’ve watched this year there’s a “new level of maturity” I’ve witnessed you enter when talking about God and His Word! God bless you Mr Allen Parr, your family and this ministry.
Thank you so much for explaining so well, man of God , may God continue to use you to help people come to know God's words of truth in His Holy word (Bible).

My Dear Wife and I are avid Bible Studiers ( II Timothy 2:15 ) for many years ( we are senior citizens ). We both were sceptical of " tongues ", and could not speak in tongues. We now can, and have noticed much greater help in our Spiritual Union. Does thar prove anything? NO! Has it helped us? YES! There are many conditions which make so many things " applicable" or " non-applicable " for use. It takes time, effort, and sacrifice, to study, RIGHTLY! But it is worth every hour. I have done my studying of the Scriptures in Hebrew and Greek for decades. I have two questions for you, Brother in Christ... Do you speak in tongues? By choice or inability? Every person, without exception, who has ever questioned any benefit from " Tongues " has never been able to do it... including me and my Dear Wife... UNTIL We both received this gift! We respect your open mind, Allen! ...Barry and Patricia ( by the way, We are not Pentecostals, nor have ever been )
Mr. Parr, It is bothersome for you to say the Charasmatics misinterpret this verse (stated as fact), and then say you will tell us what you believe it means (opinion). Praise God for grace...no of us has it 100% right on this side of heaven. Thank you for your ministry.
Understood. I was very careful to say that "many" Charismatics and Pentecostals (not all) misinterpret this verse. When I watch RUclips videos of premiere charismatic leaders, they almost always use this verse to support the idea of praying in tongues. I get so frustrated because as I shared in this video, this is taking this verse completely out of context.
Well taught Allen. came to this video from Isaiah Salvidar's response to your video about why you stopped speaking in tongues. Thank you for caring about context in biblical interpretation. 👏🤝
When I asked the Holy Spirit to pray for me, I never thought that meant that I had to speak in tongues. Not everybody has that gift. I am definitely not one! I have always met Lord I don't know what to say or how to say it holy spirit take my prayers. Pray for me, as in, in my place
I've never seen anyone use this verse to preach tongues, but I absolutely believe tongues are a gift given by Holy Spirit because the Bible says so. I mean no disrespect or harm to anyone.
Pentecostals such as myself typically see this verse as referencing intercession made by the Holy Spirit through us. There's several reasons why it is interpreted thusly that's too lengthy for me to post as a simple youtube comment, suffice to say there's alot of reading available on the internet you can research with. I would say to stick with the main verses we use to utilize speaking in tongues in prayer. At the end of the day, "...forbid not to speak with tongues, let everything be done decently and in order." (decent and in order isn't defined as whatever Western Churchianity defines it as)
I love your videos; you're so spiritually wise and you're not afraid to call out what needs to be called out. Thanks for the lessons of the languages I never knew.
I pray in tongues and I'm so grateful to God for it. It builds me up, it charges me up. It's an excellent way of giving thanks according to 1 Cor. 14:17. However, I am not a CHARISMATIC or a PENTECOSTAL. I am a CHRISTIAN! Who is a charismatic? Who is a pentecostal? All these are misnomers that should have been dropped like yesterday! Wake up Church of Jesus Christ! The Lord is coming. Watch and pray so you may be counted WORTHY TO STAND! PS: Groaning is beyond tongues. Tongues are words or utterance from the Holy Spirit. Groanings however, are wordless ("cannot be uttered"). It comes after much travail in prayer. If you know the story of Hannah's muttering till the priest thought she was drunk, then you know what groaning is.
Thank you for this. My question has always been: since speaking in tongues is one of the specific gifts (the least, according to Paul) given to specific people by God, why do Charismatic people try to teach others how to do it?? If it was given by God they don’t need to be taught.
We don’t teach people how to do it (at least in the churches I have been). We believe that it is the Holy Spirit that gives you the gift. Before speaking in tongues, I was making fun of people doing so . Then one day something happened to me during a prayer meeting, I fell and started speaking in tongues … no nobody touched me, it was all by the Spirit and I speak in tongues to this day .
I just made a similar comment. The Bible says the greatest gift is the gift of prophesying. With that being said, why do so many apostolic/pentecostal churches teach that tongues is the key to salvation? I honestly believe this false teaching is steering people astray. Yes, tongues is a gift, but many apostolic like to reference the book of Acts. Yet it says no where in Acts that speaking in tongues is needed to be saved. I have spoken with many apostolic Christian’s on this topic and none of them could explain why they believe that teaching. I also believe they are misinterpreting the books of Acts as well.

Wow great break down! Context is so important! I have this discussion a lot about tongues having coming from a Pentecostal Church.. it’s just never felt right hearing people make unintelligible sounds.. then after studying the Bible especially Cor 14 I knew in my heart it was wrong .. but as you said it’s not a salvation issue, but it is one that is misunderstood and brings confusion among believers.. and clearly Paul tells us our God is not a God of confusion, so it must be false! Great video thanks for sharing 🙏🏻🧔🏼♀️🧔🏿♀️🧔🏾♀️🧔🏻♀️🧔🏽♀️
Tongues is of the Holy Spirit. There are different types of tongues and they don't all sound the same. To say you don't believe in tongues is to say you don't believe in the power of the Holy Spirit. Tongues is scriptural. It's the evidence of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said those who believe in Him will speak in new tongues. If you are teaching that tongues is not of God you are teaching lies and the Holy Spirit is not in you. I speak in tongues when I worship the Lord. So I know from first hand that tongues is of God. Read 1 Corinthians chapter 12 and 14 it's all about speaking in tongues.
@Anthony2010, according to the Bible there is only one gift of tongues, only one type of speaking in tongues. And nowhere in the Bible does it ever say that speaking in tongues is the evidence of having the Holy Spirit. What do you do with the verses of scripture that say where someone receives the Holy Spirit & didn’t speak in tongues? You’ve either badly taught yourself or you’ve been badly taught by someone who doesn’t have true knowledge of scripture. What your saying is a false teaching that was created by the Pentecostals/Charismatics back when they started their movement around the turn of the 20th century & unfortunately it’s still plaguing the church today, & deceiving millions.
@@DerekCulpepper-vu3cd I have to respectfully disagree with you and correct you. The Bible talks about praying in tongues (praying in the Spirit) and it also talks about giving a word in tongues. When a person prays in tongues it's the Holy Spirit praying through them and they are praying mysteries. When a person is giving a word in tongues like in a church setting there must be an interpreter nearby. Tongues and interpretation of tongues are both gifts of the Holy Spirit. When a person prays in tongues there needs to be no interpretation because you'r4e not praying unto men but unto God alone and God understands what you are saying although you do not know because your understanding is unfruitful. And yes speaking in tongues is one of the evidences of the Holy Spirit for one cannot speak in tongues without the Holy Spirit. So yes even though the bible doesn't say explicitly that speaking in tongues is evidence of the Holy Ghost it does say that when the Holy Ghost fell on people they spoke in tongues. So you are wrong. God is not limited to His Word. He is beyond the scriptures. There are many types of tongues. On the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit fell upon the 120 in the upper room they all were speaking in tongues but it was the language of the people in that town because the people outside the upper room heard the 120 speak their native language. God knows every language there is and He is capable of giving someone the ability to speak another language even if it's not their native language. God is great and big. No one can understand Him. His ways are not out ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts. For as the heavens are higher than the earth so are His ways higher than our ways and His thoughts higher than ours. So don't be so religious about it. Let God be God and let Him do what He knows to do. You just be yourself. Don't limit God by just the scriptures. Just because the scriptures doesn't say anything precisely about something doesn't mean that God can't do it. He's God he can do whatever He want and however He wants and He can use whoever He wants wherever He wants. Never used that verse myself nor have I heard anyone else use it to justify praying in tongues. If I had to choose a verse as a proof text for this practice then Id use 1 Corinthians 14:2 "For the one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people, but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries." (NASB) If you have an interpretation on that one Alan, Id give it a fair hearing. Over to you!
I thank you for clearing this scripture up for me. I think a lot of times people get the messages wrong when they don’t include the whole passage. People pick out scripture and include in sermons and beliefs that totally distorts what the writer is saying. I know this makes some people angry when their idea of something is challenged, but that’s when they should they need go back and review the material. Keep up the teaching looking forward to more videos!

Better to manifest the fruit of the Spirit than the perceived gift.
I don’t speak in tongues but I can clearly see the Holy Spirit working and moving in my life.
My cousin doesn’t speak in tongue but her husband will wake up in the middle night witnessing her praying in whole different language and there are times when she’s doing so while laying hands on him. Plus, she will dreams of things to be, things that are yet to happen and those things will come to pass just like she seen them in her dreams.
So, the goal is to surrender fully to the Holy Spirit and be grateful to whatever gift He blessed you with and use that gift to worship the Great I Am in all you do.

And for some reason the young lady didn’t go to anyone else, she waited patiently until my cousin was available.

Truth is not a democracy.
Yes just so sad about degradation of Faith. So his limited knowledge make them don't believe it, the more he study bible not make him believe it. The impact is he try to make the bible according to the reality and situation not the opposite to make our situation and life according to bible 🙏. So if all peoples agree with that, so they will reject the Gift and lost it.
Jesus is Real and He is coming back soon! May we all be ready and not hinder other souls with confusion.

If I never speak in "tongues," your tongue is better than mine father God. If I never prophesy, your word has plenty, Lord. If I never heal the sick, your truth makes free.

If you do not do the things that Jesus said you would do if you believe then either you don't believe or He is a liar. Which is more likely?

God is sovereign yes, but no that does not mean that He has absolute power. If it did then no one would go to hell because with His absolute power He would cause everyone to believe in Him.

I taught on Acts chapter 2 a few weeks ago in our college age Sunday School class and I used references in your latest book to help with my lesson on tongues. Thank you for your teachings.
Have you studied the part of the Bible where god condones owning humans as slaves and explicitly gives people permission to beat them? Do you agree with that part? Should people be able to own other humans as property?
2Tim.3:5 has nothing to do with speaking in tongues it's speaking about having power to overcome sin

Speaking in tongues is a gift from God but not many people realise there are two types of tongues.
One is a sign that comes when you believe in Christ, the other is gift that not everyone will have.
Jesus said in Mark 16:17 (KJV)
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
The tongues that Jesus was talking about in Mark 16:17 are the ones mentioned in 1 Corinthians 14:2 For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.
Also in . . 1 Corinthians 14:14 (NKJV)
For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.
Earlier I mentioned there was a second kind of tongue. These are the tongues most people are more likely to see as a miracle when spoken in front of someone you know.
1 Corinthians 12:28 (KJV)
And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
The tongues spoken of above are the ones mentioned in Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. . .
Acts 2:6-8 (NKJV)
And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? “And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born?
Although, not every believer will speaks in these tongues as mentioned in
1 Corinthians 12:30
Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?
Both these scriptures in Mark and Corinthians are confirmed in 1 Corinthians 13:1 where it says, Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
The benefits of speaking in tongues
Speaking in a different language without learning.
Praying in our spirit and not from our mind.
We bypass the brain and it’s limitations which can be a hindrance to communication with God.

I am an Army veteran I been around the world.

Great lesson and presentation Allen. God bless you for sticking to and into the Word.
Brother Allen...excellent work in articulating this aspect of the scripture that is usually misinterpreted. As we say in Trinidad "you was spot on".
It is a gift for everyone. Read Acts 2:14-19
The easiest way to go against speaking in tongues is removing all apostle Paul Scripture
Gotta be honest, I'm kinda tired of the tongues debate from both sides.. if someone wants to express themselves with or without tongues it shouldn't matter. The only thing that matters is coming to God with faith, which both sides do. Why do so many care about how others express their faith?
Exactly! Thank you!
Thank you for your boldness in teaching
Not everyone has every spiritual gift, nor have they prayed for a specific spiritual gift.
Thank you Allen, the way you handle scripture makes me love scripture more because how you handle it makes it real in my life.
Context is King
I’ve been watching your videos for a many years now Mr Allen Parr,
I’m 26 y/o and believe that maturity is not exclusive to age but origins from God and His Infinite knowledge and wisdom.
My people perish, for the lack of knowledge,I was raised in the pentacostal church, and I am 50 now I agree with this man.
Praise Yeshua
Unintelligible jibberish that nobody can understand is not a spiritual gift, it's a sign of Biblical ignorance and deception
Well said!
My ways are not yours says the Lord.... If you believe you can fully wrap your mind about God, the Spirit, and His ways.... He isn't a God to worship. God doesn't say walk by understanding but walk by Faith.
“For one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries.”
1 Corinthians 14:2 NASB1995
Here is scripture for you to argue with 🫡
@@Far2chillYou argue with the context.
@@lovelyjanecohen2637Whoa, let’s go back to the scriptures. Don’t be children in understanding, but be adults. Put away the things of childhood and grow up. Don’t live your whole life on milk, rather, develop understand so you can digest meat. Don’t substitute leading for reading, because the heart is deceitful above all things.
Who is the Author of the scriptures? How can you discard understanding what we know comes from the Spirit and say you follow the Spirit? That’s not obedience; it’s tempting God.
thank u, Allen. This is so true, bible-based truth. Let scripture interpret itself.
Amen... the word of God is already blessed
Thanks for the lessons of the languages I never knew.
fI have gone to church that believed one has to speak in tongues to even be a Christian.
Love your teachings Allen. Your video production is outstanding💯
Thank you Pastor Allen, your insights are always spot on.
I agree 100 percent. I tell people the same thing. Thank you for this lesson
I don’t usually comment on videos but your channel with actual biblical references thank you brother
Great video! You did a great job explaining those verses. 👏 👏
My question has always been: since speaking in tongues is one of the specific gifts (the least, according to Paul) given to
specific people by God, why do Charismatic people try to teach others how to do it?? If it was given by God they don’t need to be taught.
Not all Charismatic people try to teach others. Don't generalize, that is not fair
@@cakebytheocean8056 have been to many charismatic churches and circles and I have seen no one preaching that speaking in tongues or it is even a sign of salvation … I think those are fringe and extreme movement that do not represent us.
@@unashamed2433 every pentecostal/apostolic Christian i have spoken with says you need to speak in tongues in order to get into heaven. Many of them believe this. Especially the pentecostal churches in the south.
As a new Christian, who has recently been set free from new age deception, I am always very discerning. This said, I also really appreciate perspectives and teachings from all Christian denominations and movements, whether they be more purist or charismatic. Lots to be learned all round. Much gratitude 🙏
No one is ignorant and unaware.... all have knowledge, freedom and free will..
All human beings are free to choose and decide what they want for themselves -
ETERNAL DEATH for defiance and disobedience
OR
ETERNAL LIFE for submissiveness and obedience
Atheists and Evolutionists
who are freely and willfully filling the world with their lie and false claim that the Creator is worthless, cruel, merciless and undeserving to be honored and respected as the True and Sovereign God
and
all Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, and fanatic members of all kinds of Religions
who are freely and willfully filling the world with their lies and Unbiblical teachings about "Armageddon", "Trinity", "heaven and hellfire", "rapture", and "reincarnation"
are not ignorant and unaware but KNOW, understand, and fully aware
that
their opposition, disobedience, and defiance of the Creator's Sovereignty and his Christ's authority and teachings
will
definitely bring them dishonor, disgrace, and cause their own downfall and ETERNAL DEATHS, just worthless and useless dusts on earth forever.
Jesus Christ KNOWS
that the submissiveness of loving, kind, and respectful persons on earth to his authority and obedience to his teachings about the "Kingdom of God" and "Resurrection of the Dead"
as clearly written in Matthew 28: 18, Luke 4: 43 and John 11: 25, 26
will
definitely bring them honor and the loving, kind, and merciful Creator's favor and reward of ETERNAL LIFE and existence without sufferings, pains, griefs, sickness, and death on a safe and peaceful earth without liars, slanderers, deceivers, perverts, traitors, and murderers as written in Revelation 21: 3, 4, 8.
The Creator KNOWS
that all human beings have no immortal souls and will just become worthless and useless dusts on earth after their deaths just like the animals as written in Ecclesiastes 3: 19: 20 ; 9: 5, 6
but
all his loving, kind, and respectful worshippers who died recently and thousands of years ago like Abel, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Job, Naomi, Ruth, King David, Jesus Christ's disciples and followers, and many others will not remain as worthless and useless dusts on earth forever,
instead,
in the right and proper time and as written in John 11: 25, 26,
Jesus Christ will freely, gladly, and willingly RESURRECT them back to life so they can all happily and abundantly live and exist on earth forever as submissive and obedient subjects of the "KINGDOM of GOD"
and fully enjoy his and the Creator's eternal love, kindness, goodness, compassions, generosities, favors, and blessings for eternity under his loving and kind rulership, guidance, and protection as the Creator's Chosen King and Ruler of the heavens and the earth as written in Revelation 11: 15.

Thank you for that Alan. It is indeed a most beautiful promise
Ever been to Haiti? Many there speak in tongues too. Congrats.

Whew! Glory to God.Thank you, Brother Allen, for such prolific, powerful, crystal clear teaching. My heart raced with every drop of biblical truth proceeding from your mouth. I am pausing right now to give thanks and to pray for YOU!!!
If speaking in tongues is speaking mysterious things to God. Then let it be! If you don’t believe in it, then don’t believe.
Good evening, Pastor Allan, I believe what you are saying Blessings ❤
Never used that verse myself nor have I heard anyone else use it to justify praying in tongues.
If I had to choose a verse as a proof text for this practice then Id use 1 Corinthians 14:2
"For the one who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people, but to God; for no one understands, but in his spirit he speaks mysteries." (NASB)
If you have an interpretation on that one Alan, Id give it a fair hearing. Over to you!
Thanks for teaching us this important lesson as always Amen
I thank you for clearing this scripture up for me. I think a lot of times people get the messages wrong when they don’t include the whole passage. People pick out scripture and include in sermons and beliefs that totally distorts what the writer is saying. I know this makes some people angry when their idea of something is challenged, but that’s when they should they need go back and review the material. Keep up the teaching looking forward to more videos!
