HOW TO PRESERVE GRAPE LEAVES
Directions:
Remove the end stems from your grape leaves
Bring a pot of water to a boil,
Add 4 tablespoons of salt and submerge your leaves for about one minute for them to soften
Fold it as I show it in the video and remove it from the heat
Let it cook down
You can now place the bunches into freezer bags and freeze them
Defrost them when needed
Make your brine by mixing in 4 heaping tablespoons of coarse sea salt into two cups of boiling water
Note: To use the fresh grape leaves the same day you plan on making Sarma, simply boil them in salted water for one minute, remove them from the heat, and allow them to cool.

Oh, hi. Well I am writing from Wisconsin USA. Where I live the most outlandish is Chinese😢. I lived in Denmark for many years where Greek and Persian food was easy to come by. I miss all the wonderful flavors and aromas. Take Care ❤😊@@margaretlalikskitchen3552

After I boiled these I tore a small piece and tried it and they were very "dry", like chewing a salty wet paper towel. Is this normal? Are they supposed to soften all the way after preserving and cooking them more? I can't tell if I picked leaves too mature. They were still very green and the stems were maybe soft enough to cut with a pinch of a thumb nail.
Hi Clearence! Yes it is supposed to be like that. You only pick the young leaves. You do not eat it like that. We make Sarma and we use it with stuffing. I is delicious with stuffing. Try my Sarma recipie and you will love it. I am sending the link. Here it is ruclips.net/video/aryqKPedHy4/видео.html
