I was talking to a homeless women , a beautiful couple drove up Their truck was full of lg. Care packets , blanket sack lunches drinks, i was so happy and amazed that people are trying to help.
I participate in a Street Ministry. We do the same thing, trying to give out help, food or whatever it is that they need. Oftentimes drugs play Vital role in there homelessness so it's difficult to get them off the street until they are ready. We just need more people out there. I know that is very intimidating for a lot of people who walk around and talk to strangers but that's kind of what it takes is to get out of our comfort zone. The people are not mean are so so nice. I encourage anyone to give it a try.

They support getting rid of traditional gender roles for women but support traditional gender roles for men, especially when it means that they have to pay for something.

I met this guy while doing ministry on the SF streets some years ago. He said his stuff gets stolen every night by other homeless people because he is defenseless.
I would suggest for Alex to go to a more affordable area, my friend is on disability and he can afford a small apartment, i live in a small town where it wold be a lot cheaper, of course every situation is different I have no idea what Alex gets from the government a month.. Godbless you Alex!!

After my divorce I was homeless living in my Cherokee. My child support and alimony was more than I made. Nobody cared. After a year in my jeep, I managed to save enough money to get a roach invested apartment. Roaches everywhere. EX-found out and took me back to court and had my support and alimony raised. I lost my apartment after only 1 month and I'm back living in my jeep. Looking and smelling like hell, I walked into an Army Recruiting station and asked to enlist. They laughed. I took the test anyways and scored very high. I passed the medical portion as well. I retired last year after a 20 year career. While serving, I topped the pay at $120K a year and now retired 55K per year. My advise: Hang in there! It's will get better. BTW: Being homeless REALLY sucked.

Homelessness is a reality of our society. Our government and all of us sharing this planet need to do something to help them without being judgmental. True some of them make poor choices in life , destroyed by drugs, alcohols, etc. But, some are simply going through life hardships. One non profit organization I know that is successful in helping them out of the street through internships, low income housing, and other activities. That organization is HopeWorks, HopeHousing, etc. We need more organization like this. Helping one soul at a time. Just my thoughts. I do sympathize with the unfortunate as one never knows when is your turn to be in their shoes. Be humble always.
You do know in some states you can not feed the homeless, you will go to jail. Awareness can only do so much. We need change and money backing since the government wont do it. Most help I have seen is from non profit people stepping up.

That is just not right. This idea of, "treat 'em and street 'em", began under Reagan, and was put in, full-throttle, under Clinton(s). It has only grown worse with each party (as if there is more than one); each branch of the g-men fighting to continue to make it more difficult. Add to it the FACT that there are a LOT more homeless, in this country, than ever before (save MAYBE during the early depression years; twenties, thirties..) I went downtown, again last night, and was shocked at the number of totally homeless young people I saw. A lot of these kids have homeless parents, who can do nothing for them. HUD closed many offices, not that long back. SSI and RSDI (disability) are not enough to survive on, unless you have some family help. Not everyone has that. It is a scrounge and dig society anymore; most people are a week away from homelessness, themselves, and finding anything to give, at this time, is very diffitult.
The moratorium on evictions ends in December because every effort for a second stimulus package was blocked. We are going to have a LOT more homeless people very soon.

I think everyone gets a check of some kind, but they usually don't want to divulge information, understandably. Thankfully, San Francisco winters are mild at around the 70F mark, but it's still lonely having to sleep in the park, etc. Been there done that.

I visited San Francisco back in 2001, and it was just unbelievable because the tourist were mixed in with the homeless who took up most of the sidewalks; forcing us to walk in the streets. The sites that this city. Is known for, was littered with ppl. Outside the hotel, at the bus station, blocking the entrance to restaurants, to the shops. There is no way I felt safe there. I am from NYC, and I thought we had a problem.
Social workers are not the answer Affordable housing is. They make money and nothing changes. Unless they are very special people, they are often more hurtful than anything.

That's a really sad site to see a guy with his disabilities being homeless. Poor guy, hope things work out for him. Here in the UK he would be given a home that was specially designed for easy access. You don't see disabled homeless people here,, I could be wrong, but I've yet to see one. London, UK

But our social work system is very good and if this guy lived in Scotland he was have a supported accommodation.
I met this guy in Chinatown, SF. My girlfriend and I walked him across the street and chatted with him. He was so sweet and asking for help, but no one around him spoke English. Hope he is doing better

Thanks for sharing the homeless stories. So many think homeless are just "bums" even though they have income just to expensive to live. You should have a network where they can log in and share to find a place as two probably could afford an apartment whereas its too much for one. Hope he does okay. I know some can use the public library to get online if needed. Its hard as some programs are great and some difficult. By making these videos you show some humans still care.

The sites that this city. Is known for, was littered with ppl. Outside the hotel, at the bus station, blocking the entrance to restaurants, to the shops. There is no way I felt safe there. I am from NYC, and I thought we had a problem.
Social workers are not the answer
Affordable housing is. They make money and nothing changes. Unless they are very special people, they are often more hurtful than anything.

That's a really sad site to see a guy with his disabilities being homeless. Poor guy, hope things work out for him. Here in the UK he would be given a home that was specially designed for easy access. You don't see disabled homeless people here,, I could be wrong, but I've yet to see one. London, UK

@@jrewing6836 I live in Scotland and most people are looked after, but its diminishing as you say, government cut back, conditions attached if you do get help, its definitely getting darker, I could not walk past this person, I give when I can, I couldn't sleep other wise. But our social work system is very good and if this guy lived in Scotland he was have a supported accommodation.
Give him a job as an actor or something! He has such a great personality and positive attitude.

Crazy that a homeless disabled dude has a caregiver but no home. So sad, I hope things get better for him.
I met this guy in Chinatown, SF. My girlfriend and I walked him across the street and chatted with him. He was so sweet and asking for help, but no one around him spoke English. Hope he is doing better

Thanks for sharing the homeless stories. So many think homeless are just "bums" even though they have income just to expensive to live. You should have a network where they can log in and share to find a place as two probably could afford an apartment whereas its too much for one. Hope he does okay. I know some can use the public library to get online if needed. Its hard as some programs are great and some difficult. By making these videos you show some humans still care.
