@Dank Dank She was 'stimming'. This is what Autistic people do. Sometimes with their hands, face or rocking like that. They do this because they desperately need physical stimulation or they will feel a sense of nothing which they can't bare. If you haven't experienced it you can't imagine what it feels like. It goes right across the spectrum and is different in different people. It's a little like when kids fidget at a certain age. I used to get hit of my grandad for this and then it developed into facial twitching so then my dad used to yell at me for twitching all the time. Back then there was no information about it nor any meds I could of taken. I was often thrown out of class for never being able to sit and concentrate for any length of time. This made me grow up believing I was a failure because some of my teachers back then loved to tell me I was a waste of space. That's why I relied to your comment. In this day we have plenty of knowledge about autism and how it affects people.
As an autistic and bipolar woman the life is already hard enough and being homeless, kudos for them to stay together and surviving everything, I hope them can have an easier life for now
I’m autistic and I have depression, anxiety, adhd, and multiple autoimmune disorders and I’m still fighting for disability and disabled housing two years later.
I went to high school with these two! Sam was socially awkward girl but always so bubbly while Matt was so well mannered, I remember him opening the doors for people in the hallways. Even after high school I do remember them being homeless, they would smile and I would say Hi. Still cant believe they ended so far away!
Drugs, alcohol, divorce, illegitimacy = homelessness. People have a choice. I have over one hundred fifty years of family history of alcoholism, slavery, sex abuse, poverty, and drug abuse behind me. You can pull yourself out. My children have never experienced any of these things. Stop having kids you cannot support.
You guys are perceiving his smile the wrong way, hes smiling to cover up embarrassing shame and sadness. Just cause someone smiles doesn't mean their happy
@@abrupt_oliver A smile is not just a smile. People can cry because they're happy, sad, nervous, or excited. People can smile for those reasons as well.

@Trinket Mage nothing. That’s what you “charge” A more socialized approach would be the best option, start seeing each other as equals and start living in community unity instead of label and blame.
@Trinket Mage you obviously didn’t understand when I said a more socialized society, politically....or maybe you did in which case I completely disagree. Then they wouldn’t have to charge.
@Trinket Mage you obviously don’t understand me. Look into socialism. We do not need to let money rule the world. We could all contribute towards the greater good of humanity then they would not have to charge. Money isn’t everything. Go watch some more of these videos and see how much these people make in a day then add food shoot it would help more people off the street and give them a break. Here I was, depressed about the elections, thinking it was the end of the world, and RUclips recommends this video to me. Sam and Matt have REAL problems and yet they seem so cheerful and positive. I am sitting in a warm house; my belly is full. I have no right to be depressed.
Well depression is not something we can control by will power. It doesn’t work like that. It’s a chemical imbalance that happens without your choice. I hope you know that the election will affect these ppl, politics touches absolutely everything in our communities, and it’s okay to be upset about it.
I live in chronic pain with 13 disabilities and autism as well. I can tell you survival on the street with autism is NOT EASY in fact it is pure HELL! Abuse just for being autistic at home is common. I am autistic and have been for 60 years. I have PTSD , I can't trust others and lots of other stuff associated with abuse for being autistic. My job pays extremely well, I live in a nice home. I have a full refrigerator\freezer and another freezer full of food. Compared to these lovely folks living on the streets I have no problems at all NONE! Sir can't you talk to your probation officer about having your probation case supervision switched to Alaska Department of Corrections.
I wish for that as well unfortunately its not going to happen since technology has made human kind anti social and causes our brains to become unfamiliar with what is right and what is wrong to say during a conversation. It takes someone with a good weight on their shoulders to be the kindest person
I have a daughter who has autism and Sam's one incredibly sweet and loving girl. I wish her and Matt the very best of luck with everything. #myheartissohurtrightnow.
@@InvisiblePeople But even in the Old Testament God says that people will no longer die for the sins of their forefathers (chapter 18 of Ezekiel). @@polyglotta1 I am a Christain, but I am not spooky meaning the curse I believe the bible is talking about is parents passing down sins (character traits, abuse, etc) to their children, who pass it on to their children. @@InvisiblePeople I see what you mean. But there's a lot going on in the spiritual realm too that we also influence e.g. 'the power of life and death is in the tongue' - we can actually curse ourselves by pronouncing bad things over our future or present life. "SAM'S MOM SOLD HER TO HER BEST FRIEND WHEN SAM WAS FOUR! I put this in all caps because childhood abuse and childhood trauma play a significant role in how a person functions as an adult. It's easy to point a finger at a homeless person judging them that their homelessness is their choice, but when you learn more about a person's story, you'll often find layers of childhood abuse and neglect." You said this so well and I would like to add that a lot of people that appear to be functioning and even thriving in society suppress and hide their childhood trauma or vulnerability and as a result of that they cannot bear the sight of vulnerable people. I believe this might be part of why society has gotten so callous. Damaged people have to get past their survival instincts if they want to find help but society also has to open it's eyes more to the underworld of society also.
You know what? If I saw a kid in trouble and that parent was willing to sell me their kid, I'd buy that child. For a parent (if you can call them that) to do that, I would rather they end up with me. Going through the proper channels would not be quick enough for this type of "parent". I could only imagine who this "mother" could find to buy her daughter. What same person knows anyone that would sell their child?
@@silentlamb7043 But, but...they are people too! They can be rehabilitated! Yada yada yada. (I'm on your side! We are way too nice to people that fuck up children.)

"don't ask how you can help unless you're really willing to help, because 9 times out of 10 you aren't gonna like the answer you get" that's so powerfully and well worded and so painfully true. Sam's is a very 'there but for fortune' story for me, and even though I'm currently very fortunate to have a crappy studio, that rings very true. I'm sure its something a lot of people with trauma and mental illness and neurodivergance understand too well. People offer to help, but only on their terms and not materially or practically with what you actually need. Then they ask you why you don't ask for help.
It does help. Otherwise you just self destruct your self like I have been doing. And my family or Spain still don’t care. Cause I’m only young I didn’t think I had to ask I thought family and friends would know…….
That's very kind of you to bless these people from the other side of the world; thank you. Doesn't India have a very bad problem with homelessness too? Is it worse than the USA, or the same? I hate that you face such loneliness. We all deserve friendship and support. Most of my friends are far away but I keep in touch. It's hard for me to make friends and it's hard for others to understand mental illness. I hope you find a way to get more social. I'm wanting the same and it's been extra difficult with the pandemic!
Hey! I really hope things start looking up for you! Please take inspiration in my words and find the strength to keep going and get better. I wish you the best and more💪❤️
Damn, I don't know if a lot of people understood what Sam meant when she said she wants an apocalypse to happen because to my sense and knowledge from watching this episode was that in an apocalyptic world there are no rich or poor just people trying to survive, they're all equal. What makes one better than another is how good you are at surviving because it's either your surviving or dead and to Sam's perspective, that's the "perfect world".
It sounds like a good idea. But it would be survival of the fittest. With no laws or authority there would be a lot crime and murder just for basic necessities. People with power would take advantage of to control those with needs. I feel like it's a double edge knife.
When she explains her struggles he just sits and smiles, because he knows none of that matters and he'll always do what he can for her no matter what... that's special. Really good people

This is not true in the aggregate. Sure, that’s true for some people, but there are so many homeless people that choose to stay on the streets. They could choose to get clean, get assistance, get a job, and get a home. They choose not to do so.

Homeless shelters charging $7.00 per nite?? That's outrageous. These shelters are getting money left & right and CHARGING money to the homeless they are claiming to serve? A hotel where every room is for homeless people, and an extended building with a clinic that doesn't turn down anyone! That's a brilliant idea in my opinion.
That would be wonderful. But it has to be funded. Then you have to hire in attendants, house keeping, supplies and suppliers, *caring* Doctors, nurses, receptionists, grounds keepers, security. The ultimate idea is grand. But the means to make it happen is the problem.
The young woman in the video is so wise. I love that she acknowledges that she needs to seek professional help regarding her childhood trauma. You would be surprised at the number of people who go through life refusing to acknowledge that they need to desperately seek healing.

You said this so well and I would like to add that a lot of people that appear to be functioning and even thriving in society suppress and hide their childhood trauma or vulnerability and as a result of that they cannot bear the sight of vulnerable people. I believe this might be part of why society has gotten so callous. Damaged people have to get past their survival instincts if they want to find help but society also has to open it's eyes more to the underworld of society also.

Help them get to Alaska and get that cabin. Give them health and peace, inside and out 💖 (And those wishes, Lord, we know You give us "the desires of our heart"....You heard them before we ever did. Thank You, in advance, for working those out for them).
I wish I was an employer, this man deserves a job
I love her... She is priceless...
When he said “because she fell so hard for me” his smile was priceless 🥺I hope they find their way
they are so beautiful
They will, I got that feeling
This is so sad man they seem like they're genuinely kind souls. They're not bad people just in a bad situation. I hope they can make the most out of everything and that a lot of blessings come their way.
I hope those who disliked this is because their situation is so unfair... to say the least. Sending prayers to this couple.
Honestly, my thoughts as well. I can’t imagine blaming these two for their situation enough to try and make them feel shame for their misfortune.
I believe if someone would help them, they could get straighted they want to move to Alaska where because he is well spoken and i think they are sincere.
I did not finished my reply, i believe they are sincere and they have a good attitude to have been through all their life, sam said she was sexually abused and he was " the black sheep of the family. I feel it someone could reach out and helped them get a start in that area.,
A hotel where every room is for homeless people, and an extended building with a clinic that doesn't turn down anyone! That's a brilliant idea in my opinion.
O thought about that too.
Somebody has to finance that. Either the wealthy or the tax payers.
I know sweetie but it would be a very dangerous place.
Places like that exist. However, employing caring decent people in those places is a different conversation.
She isn't wise making 3 babies already by age 24 without the ability to care for them
Honestly not everyone gets good support or good therapist. And not everyone's circumstances are the same. Plus if you battle long term and multiple traumas therapy is a waste of time and if you are In America that would also include a waste of money.
woke to the government sham plandemic
@@beanj580 and thinking covid is a government sham
Don't forget the zombie apocalypse!
19:33 the way Sam stops and takes in the question... it's like watching a really bright person who was never given a chance
People who are autistic are also in all honesty incredibly bright.
@@wonderlandian8465 yes this is often true , unfortunately some people are not as high functioning , I was in an aspergers group and the oldest member outside of the group leaders (all on the spectrum) ,was very low functioning ,he was 30something and still lived with his mom, he didnt know his phone number, he didnt know what was appropriate or not to say or do in the group , he couldnt hold even the most minimalistic job, etc etc etc. I dont think he got diagnosed very early and didn't seem to be getting the proper care. It's very sad to see how some people can be blessed with aspergers (I'd consider myself blessed, maybe not romantically, that'd be probably easier but I honestly think I'd rather be with someone who has aspergers after having gone out with neurotypicals, it'd also be a plus if they had BPD(BorderlinePersonalityDisorder/Not bipolar) and how some people are cursed with it, unable to articulate their thoughts and feelings, some who have very severe autism may have trouble speaking, relationships are quite difficult to maintain , people will often look down on you or treat you different, people make fun of you and try to take advantage of you, they belittle you in front of others or undermine you, they will talk in this condescending baby voice or even slow their level of speech to half of what they normally speak . It's pretty messed up how both the homeless and autistic are often treated/stigmatized by the general population or ignorant people. I got lost writing this along the way but yeah it just bothers me, regardless of how high functioning someone is, how people assume people with autism are and the way their often treated when they find out . I keep it a secret whatever place I work now because Its really no ones buisness anyway unless I need extra help or something and even than that doesnt mean all my employees need to know maybe just my employer . Anyway this has dragged on but I hope someday people grasp a better understanding or autism and stop lumping all of us in some fucked up box
@@leeroypancake Yep, very acutely put, obviously it's a different situation depending on the individual but i myself as someone who doesn't have any form of aspergers i always felt like it was god's (whichever one you believe in) way of blessing , much like you said you feel blessed, certain people with a different level of not only understanding but just intelligence. That's my experience anyways with the people i've seen or interacted with who have aspergers, lot of them are doing much better in life than i am.
Wonderlandian Sam’s point about abortion helps convince me that every life is a blessing , its very admirable to see perspectives of all people, as well as very informative on finding ways of relating to one another
Society fails to invest, and throws away, too many valuable people. It’s shocking, sad and horrific: ‘A mind is a terrible thing to waste…’
They are so sweet. I wish the best for both of them. And I hope Sam can find some therapy to help with her trauma.
I can see in their eyes that they are loving folks. I hope they are doing okay.
Sam is an absolute gem!!!
“We must fix families and how children are raised”.
Their stories are so layered - wow .
Yes and let’s also acknowledge that there is a good number of people who should *not* be having children.
I love in the description how it says if we are to fix homelessness, we need to fix families. It is a horrible, vicious cycle that keeps innocent children back from having a healthy life.
He seems like such a nice guy! I hope their future is comfortable and they find happiness in their cabin in Alaska. Praying for them
Uh, here's hoping they don't make it to Alaska to find out the 'cabin' is NOT in Anchorage! I'm from Anchorage. Cabins are far out of town. It's expensive to live there. Homeless in AK, well, it's cold! Doesn't sound wise. Sorry.
This is so sad and it breaks my heart. God bless this couple. Poor girl should never be used to sexual abuse. People who sell their children need jailed for life.
No matter what homeless, wealthy , or rich true love conquers all!! ❤️
"Homelessness isn't something that can be taught. It's nothing you can even imagine. It's undescribable, to be honest."
Perfect definition.
i relate so much with her. I'm an autistic homeless woman who also graduated from HS while homeless. being disabled, young, and homeless is very hard.
May god bless you. I love u and I’m sending love your way
@@friedsun4031 like what? At least with a phone you get the power of information. I rather have a phone than eat once.
where do u sleep if u dont mind. do u get regular sleep on the streets?
@@leahm3217 thank you 💙
@@friedsun4031 how am I supposed to call about housing or find housing? how am I supposed to obtain resources like soup kitchens? how am I supposed to keep in touch with my doctor/therapist? how am I to call 911 if I'm in danger? my phone is my computer, alarm clock, medication reminder, clock, flashlight and so much more. my phone is a free phone from metro PCS. have some common sense. this comment is so damn ignorant. I'm not allowed to have modern conveniences, which are required in some instances, because im homeless? did you know that all of my doctor's/therapy appointments are over video chat?
Sam is amazing! I connect with her so much and not just because of autism and adhd etc. I really hope they (and anyone in need) are blessed like I have been. At age 42 i am now free of my abusive family and was finally lucky enough to get a council flat.
I really hope that they are able to find housing and eventually make their way to Alaska. I'm from Alaska and it is a beautiful place. Unfortunately, we have a lot of issues with the treatment of homeless people in Anchorage but I'm truly hoping they can make their way to their cabin and find sustainable work. I love how protective Matt is of Sam and they have such a deep connection.
it's sick that they're just thrown away like trash.
They obviously did the same to their own flesh and blood! I don't pity them one bit!
@@themetamorphosisofgipsy I can see your point, but is is much, much better for the children to be in a stable loving home rather than be living on the streets with them, at least they did not abuse their children.
@@themetamorphosisofgipsy Exactly makes me so angry.
@@themetamorphosisofgipsy They gave two up for adoption and found a safe place for the third child. That seems extremely responsible given their life circumstances. I'm not sure what you think they should have done. I was adopted myself. Was a foster child and was lucky that my foster parents adopted me.
It’s fucking horrible. People need to help more. Modern day people are sooooo ungrateful they have no clue what is like to be in a bad situation.
this guy seems so humble. I wish I had people like him around myself
damn i got so angry when she told what happened to her when she was a child
"Taking a hotel like the Hilton and turning it into a shelter for the homeless" YESSSS, girl, PREACH!!!
America we have failed. There shouldnt be people in these situations at all.
Maybe, but you can never uproot problems like this. They will always exist.
@@ReasonAboveEverything maybe if the systems werent so broken that are supposed to help in the first place
I really don’t know why people think America is the only nation in the world. Homelessness is everywhere
Are you surprised that countries fail?
@@test-zg4hv truth, drugs are too easy to get. When I was 16 I went down that path but I had the strength to pull myself out and never reached things like heroin or crack thank god
May God bless them. I found this channel when I was homeless 3 years ago. I have a home now only by the grace of God. I am blessed and pray they become so as well ❤️
Homeless few years ago? U look like a super model in that photo
Beautiful souls that fell through the gaps of the system. Not rich enough to afford being themselves, not supported by their families in their quirkiness, not prepared by home/school/community to live in the real world. Both are free spirits that can't afford to be free, both in figurative and material sense. It's scary to realise that it only takes a moment to find yourself on the street, even when you have some savings/ support network/ . It shouldn't be so quick and easy to become homeless! Thank you for these videos.
Matt has the most beautiful smile and you can tell as a wonderful sweet soul. Sam you have really accomplished a lot I should be very proud of yourself. And I was very amazed you didn't wish not to be autistic. My husband is bipolar schizophrenic and I've seen him go through such hard times and I can imagine being an hour inside of his head. My wish would be for mental illness to be non-existent. He both have been through so much having three children but giving them up to adoptive families to give them better life. That's going to be one of the hardest things anybody has ever done but is the definition of true love.
His first wish is to be free.
His second wish is for people to be kind.
His third wish was health and happiness for all those in the same boat.
Her wishes were for a simpler world, and wants to help others..
My prayers are with both of them...
Only ONE of Matt's wishes were for THEM...
Very warming to hear this couple, I hope that a combination of their wishes come true.
Omg the happiness on his face talking about her graduation 🥺 he’s so proud of her I can’t 😭
They are so good together, glad they have each OTHER GOD BLESS THEM
This is so sad, really surprised how much this man smiles. Really wish the best for him
