      kingtorta , it has to do because due to the end system mental institutions closed down and people with mental illness is on the streets without support. Human beings should live with dignity , the present economic system doesn’t consider it a human right,

      Kingtorta - You might get a little "buggy" if you were sleeping on the streets too and trying to keep from being attacked, killed every night. Which comes first, the chicken or the egg?? These "mental" and "drug addicts" might turn completely around if given a SANE environment to actually live in. Think about it.

      @@writenamehere0000 , That's bullshit!!! There are still TONS of other cities in the USA where he can move and rent nice home for less than what he used to pay for a tiny hotel room full of bed-bugs in SF, and retire in dignity!!! Yet, he choose to be homeless on the nasty streets of San Francisco. Might be because of mental problems or how easy it is to buy weed and drugs in SF. If it's a mental issue, then shame on the government for not helping him, but if it's just for drugs, then No sympathy here...

      You can inform the city council members in your city TO DO SOMETHING about giving free shelters and food. That will work. Definitely sitting here and praying will not help anyone. Be realistic and logical.
      I have done it in LA. but this is a large city with too many problems but the city gives some help . Also feed the homeless if you can. I do it . That is why I tell you what will work and what will not work.
      If your prayers were answered humans will not starve to death in poor African countries.

      @kingtorta yes and no. There has to be a lot more understanding of issues like depression, anxiety and other things, drug addiction for example. Now look at one of the billionaires who live in or around San Francisco, for example, larry ellison, €66 billion, that's just one. Some estimate there are 150 billionares in the area. And he gives to the right people, say 500 million dollars, about 4% of his wealth to San Francisco. Provides accommodation, not dormitories, a room for your self, access to showers washing machines. Now you are going to need good strong minded staff to run this place. Most of the money, today, goes to CEO who pay them self's ridiculous amounts of money. For example one CEO, shelter UK, in the UK gets paid £122,000 or $155,000 a year, too look after the homeless.
      The president and CEO of the American Red Cross is Gail McGovern, and her base salary has remained $500,000-without any pay increase-since she joined the American Red Cross in 2008.
      Could you live on $500,000 a year ?
      You could get the CEO from shelter for a saving of $350,000 a year.
      Does that give you some idea where the millions goes, not too the people on the front line.

    I rather retire in a small town in Texas(low crime). Where business's from other cities aren't moving in or the town isn't booming, which will increase rent prices. Prefer a non-college town, this can also cause landlords to increase rent prices(competency). You want to move to a place where their is more vacant apartments to choose from. Boring town for me is not even a problem.👍

    • @pbattis1
      @pbattis1 5 лет назад +3

      I agree. I'd like to live in San Francisco too but I simply cannot afford it. So I moved to where I can afford. Not the most exciting place in the world but I have a roof over my head and a $500 Pontiac Vibe in the driveway. The idea of being homeless in one of the most expensive cities in the world is kind of ridiculous. Move to Kansas, Missouri, Ohio. . .there are plenty of places where a person who isn't a addict can go and do fine. California is not one of them.

Well I bought a condo back in 1984, paid it off early. So I've been mortgage free for over 10 years now. My car is paid off & no credit card debt. So I'm bless here in my great state of Texas!! From an Australian perspective, this is very troubling. He strikes me as a very downtrodden but genuine guy who deserves better. Having been to SFO many times, but not for 10 years, i really enjoyed the city, but it has become ridiculously expensive and so disgusting from a public sanitation and homelessness perspective I will never go back. Conferences I attended there are relocating. I just don't understand why this man doesn't move to a smaller less expensive location. There must be dozens of less expensive more livable places in the USA, or even Mexico. I hope he gets his life in order as he seems very deserving.

      Why would you force people to live together? Each individual has a right to their own space. Don't be turning USA into a country where people live in cages and have to share a bathroom and kitchen with dozens of other people.
      The circumstances for being homeless are different for each homeless person. That does not mean they should be treated as though they were worthless. You could also be homeless before this day is through.

    Have one of those billionaires out there buy a closed down shopping center like sears. Get scrap cars from the junk yard and park them in the sears parking area. People could put foam mattresses in the cars to sleep on. Each car could be a small house for a person. Restrooms and a shower building could be built on one end like they have at a state park. Next to that another build to prepare meals.
