Hey Jeff! I didn't get the chance to talk to you that day but that was actually my first crit. I didn't even know what a crit was 2 months ago when I bought a gravel bike. I stumbled on your videos and gave it a shot. Hit my goals so I was happy. I bought a road bike now and am going to start training more seriously. Just wanted to say thanks for everything you do. That was me clapping on the finish line at the end, also i was yelling out time splits for chris haha
Road bike ain't gonna do anything different except now you have different tire widths.
@@jason200912 theres quite a bit of difference between gravel and road bikes nowadays
@@loicsavard68 the differences are all in removable components
@jason200912 The frames' geometry is different, and that makes a world of difference when going 50 kph during a race.
@@loicsavard68 what specifically because i see the tarmac with the rounded top tube which is slowing itself down.
Another thought about Steve sprinting out of that corner: he is not going smooth and consistent with the power while doing that. As you say, slow is smooth and smooth is fast. Though it’s difficult with so many technical corners to chase Chris, Steve was sprinting a lot through those hard corners to soften everyone up. But he’s also softening himself up, too.
Great racing, guys! Looks like a combination of skill, strategy, and luck played perfectly in your favor! Always great to see you guys stomp out there
that was sooth and fast, great finish 🚴✨✨
can't wait for the p1, 2 let's go jeff
Chris is a savage. Congrats guys!
Really enjoyed the video. Bravo Mike’s Bikes 🎉
I have so many fond memories of Watsonville. Some of my least awful races.
Missed watching you race 👌
Dam bro. Should be called Wattsville😊
35 into the last corner against 35+..... yea, nobody's coming around you. lol
Well to be fair me and Mark Howard aren’t racing anymore 😂
What’s up with long sleeve jerseys and one dude in long bibs, it’s Cali and spring/summer time right?😅 sth does not add up
Jeff casually putting out 1400w - Intelligentsia beast mode activated.
That wasn't casual that was his 100% energy tank
It's amazing how quickly that race was over. Within the first few laps he was gone and it was a race for second. Great job on the 1,2 finish. And no, it wasn't about your power, it was about knowing just when to attack (just before the last corner) and carrying that speed to the line.
Ej did u dirty!!!!!
It's WATTSonville
35 and you're old? 😂 I started racing when I was 34.
Hey, Jeff, when are we getting that Cat 3 Regalado RR Analysis?
Reaney is awesome, but he probably shouldn’t have been allowed to influence a 35-39 district championship race. Kinda weird of Velopromo to make it a 35+ race and just pull out the 35-39 finishers.
Nicely done :)
Hey how do you add the wattmeter in your videos? :)
My guy max took 3rd
You should try Masters Nationals
❤nice . Good job brother
prolly a dumb question but what about the ppl who need to get out of their driveway?
Hello I am new to cycling and thinking of starting to race. When watching this video, about 8:00 you said that you’re being sloppy with the cornering, what would be an optimal line to take instead? Your videos are really cool thanks.
It was 7:50
Best way to understand is to binge watch his videos because he explains so much about racing lines and corners in just about every one of them.
Masters Race👻👻👻
Had to put down 500+ watts super early to move up because of a bad start - dude you gotta practice your clip-ins, else we'll have to get you into SPDs, mash your foot down and go.
I'm from the UK and currently living in Ireland. One thing that I cant get my head around with US crits is how you manage to close a road on what is effectively is a suburban street. Do the residents not have something to say? We would never be able to race like this in the UK/Ireland due to residents not allowing it?
Who said the streets are closed? They’re all at Dunkin Donuts getting breakfast 😂
There are usually ways to get out of the neighborhood from other streets that aren't closed off. They also give plenty of notice and people park outside of the closed off area before. Its usually only closed for the morning or day of the race. As for motivation, the police department can just put up no parking signs anywhere they want and if you don't move your car its a $50 or more ticket.
We close blocks of streets all the time for parties in the US. All it takes is a permit and the police are happy to help reroute traffic and put up barriers.
You should do more chest cam pov videos
*not 35+ … 35-39 right? bc it was district championship ?
Hi Jeff, i'm not a professional by any means or even a racer. I noticed the Mike's bikes developmental rider is bouncing a lot on his saddle.
Great insight
Imagine if one of those residential cars starting backing out of the driveway. Or a parked car on the street.
These guys are more in marginal gains then p1/2
Ong first
Kind of unfair to allow a 21 year old to participate 😉
35+ is not the old guys. The fact that you, and many (most) other 35+ riders are still competitive in their senior categories is evidence that they haven't really started their inevitable downward slide. Come back in 20 years and then we can talk.
Devo rider’s position is terrible. Boing boing boing. -U10
I can't deal with roadies calling a fucking crit course "technical." Bro, it's a fucking road, a dip in the asphalt is not "technical." Try mountain biking.
It's different, trust me.
you are so cool. maybe try sneaking into a cat5 race later. love the sandbag content. super cringe that you took a podium pic too.
This sort of sandbaging kills the local race scene
...but i'm 35+ 🤷♂️
Do you think seal clubbing is good for the local race community? Do you think that makes those riders want to race next week?
i'm literally flying out to chicago so i can get beat by better racers, it's what makes you stronger , so ya i think people interested in self improvement will continue racing after not winning. remember there's only 1 winner per race, so it's a sport where you have to prepare yourself for loss, and learn from it
@@NorCalCycling we know you race strong people that's not what I was talking about. It's when you seal club. It's kinda like what legion does since almost all of what they do is seal club.
If there is at least one smart rider (not strong, but smart), you never win!
The only interesting thing in this video is the blue sky!!!!!! Nice blue sky!!!! The rest is absolutely BS!
Seriously????? You should show your preparation for the race and before it starts. Your gear and kit and your interaction (if any) with the other riders before the race (like short interview) and their gear and kit... and so on... then you would have something really interesting to show in your videos since they are really boring and a recipe for sleeping fast... I don't know how some heros watch it to the very end just to see you sucking the blood of some poor rider and sprinting to lose another race... and at the end you want to sell a coaching course????? Really??????????
Nobody is forcing you to watch?
Jeff didn't ask his competitors about their day. I'm literally seething right now.
Damn, some whinny babies in these comments today. Sounds like you're another guy in this race who lost to Jeff.
@@LouieBaLLz This guy is a fraud. He sucks the blood of other riders until it is missing a few feet to the end line and them he springs freshly to it... DOE NOT WORK IN THE REAL WORLD and that is why he only wins in that Alviso ride in California where he rides with his dear friends who allow him to suck blood from them! Simple!
@@crackerbarreIkid55 IT IS THE BEST JOKE SHOW EVER!!!! HOW COULD I MISS IT???????
