First...sorry to hear this and glad you're relatively OK. Second, please don't say you were "hit by a car"...You were hit a * *person* * driving a car. There is a subtle but distinct difference. Even the media and law enforcement get it wrong sometimes. Leaving the driver out of the equation tends to further reinforce the belief that they are somehow less responsible for what happened. I'm a bit sensitive to this since my wife was hit by a 90-year-old man driving a Silverado in 2017 (broken back and ultimately recovered) and I just went to the funeral of a long-time cycling friend who was struck and killed by a motorist 2 weeks ago. (Sorry for the rant. Love your channel! I have learned a ton about crit racing strategy here!)
from my crash I learned the word accident was used so repeatedly by lawyers to try and remove blame from the driver at fault. I called it an accident and my lawyer said "no it was a crash and the driver was at fault, he could have avoided it."
If someone says they are hit by a car they mean they are hit by a person driving a car, no one thinks they are blaming the car. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
@@tjtennisicmroll2k You're wrong. Thats not how the wording works. Hit by a vehicle(cyclist at fault). Vehicle hits cyclist(driver at fault). Big difference. Responsibility lies with both the driver AND the vehicle in incidents involving pedestrians or cyclists. Some kids are run over in the parking lot or drive way BECAUSE of the vehicle being too big to see them. Even if the driver backing up is extra cautious they can't see what they can't see. Factors like vehicle's size and visibility collectively influence road safety, it's not just the driver's actions. Thats like this talk of firearms being not at fault for all the mass shootings but they're used and people want to deny responsibility of such a tool being attributed to all that tragedy. Ted talk huh? 🤣
@@duartemateus4145 I don't understand the point of this comment. Are you trying to correct me even though you're going even further than me against the title? Either way it's just a joke man.
Congrats, great finish! When I used to race around here (Southeastern PA), Marty Nothstein and other top trackies would show up to some of the pro-am races. We amateurs were NOT winning those races, LOL!
Fortunately it did. However, if you say that you will do a leadout for your sprinter and then sprint for yourself - I'd question Sean's ability to work for the team. Cycling is a team sport and for me, if you act as a team member but then play for yourself, I'd not like to have such person as a team mate. Imagine a situation where Sean is a tyre length behind Luke - you get no win, your team mate fkd up his job and overall situation is far from optimal. This is my take on it. Nevertheless, happy that TMB took the win.
Yeah I agree. I thought Sean was going to lead Ryan out but I guess he never got a chance to get in front of Ryan to pull for him so he chose the next best thing.
Question: why risk a sprint against a soon-to-be World Tour pro like Luke Lamperti? With 8 riders, surely the play would be attacking him with everybody and have only the sprinter and maybe a leadout sit on his wheel? A leadout train doesn't gain your team that much advantage, unlike an aggressive tactic.
So this chris guy at the end says he was happy to perform a leadout. I didn't see him lead anyone out...i saw him get led out and try to sprint for the win.
Well, as Sean was 2 wheels behind him all that time, that was clearly a lead out. Just see how many watts during the last lap cost him to start his own sprint. Plus, it's not this chris guy but actually the strongest rider in TMB Ryan, respect it man.
The final 2 corners had Jack, Gavin, Ryan (not Chris) and then Sean+Luke. It was supposed to be Sean in front of Ryan, but for whatever reason that didn't happen. Ryan did what he needed to do in that situation.
that was Ryan and there was a touch of sarcasm there as I believe he was the protected sprinter without his final leadout man and he ended up leading out the sprint. Just a guess:)
Call me a loser but I don’t understand how mikes bikes getting a bunch of strong guys and dominating all these local races is fun. Wouldn’t they rather race each other?
I'm pretty much a dinosaur and am familiar with the saying: If you don't have anything good to say, don't say it at all. But with that said, what's up with the long socks? I know they've been around a long time, but I don't know why. They look hideous. Also, I imagine it completely ruins your tan lines and prevents you from exposing your goofy tan in the summer months. Cyclist's legs are beautiful. Why not expose them in all their glory? P.S. Sorry to hear about the car incident. I hope your injuries are not serious.
Glad you're ok. I noticed in your other recent video ("Is my Wheel Ok?"), you stated at the end that you came in top 20. That statement didn't pass the eyeball test from your video, so I looked up the Intelligensia Chicago result and you came in 46th. Wondering if you make untrue statements like that from time to time.
I didn’t have the results sheet in front of me while doing the commentary so I also used the eyeball test and thought I was around 20th, later found was 24th. Wouldn’t call it an untrue statement just a best guess, but kind of irrelevant anyway bc I just gave up with about a half lap to go like I said in the commentary. You’re looking at the wrong race.
15:16 props to that volunteer opening up the line on the left at the last second

On the news, they don't call them accidents anymore.

kid is killing it!! sooo happy to see him take this one!!!

Jeff, though it's more work, I hope that in the future in the vid description that you can put a small bio or links to bios for your guests. TY
NEED a Sean POV analysis that was supreme by him!!! "Suprise mfer" moment for sure
sean is killing it what an animal always has some power for reserve
I said it before he reminds me a lot of mark cavendish
Did anyone see at 8:18 how well the rider, Quinn, dodged around the idiot(non racer) at that corner.
Damn I thought you guys lost it at the finish. Sean is fkcn monster.
Not sure I’d call the mikes bikes team “amateurs” 😂. More like semi-elite.
If they have a salary they are professionals

Great watch. What a finish 🎉
Shout-out to the course volunteer for a heads-up play at 15:17
Hope you're OK from the car. Will you be talking about what happened?
Lots of WATTs on that podium 💪🏽💪🏽🚀
So badass, awesome recovery
What was Sean's input? I'm assuming he just decided to hug Luke's wheel and come around him. Paid off.

Absolutely! Attack him whenever you can and don't let up. 8 to 1? It can be done.
Is there a schedule online for the races coming up in SF and Oakland? North Cal?
Love that you still race crits when all the soft riders are fair weather cyclo crossers.

curious, not like they'd need to be, but are 30mm tires at all common on these bike set ups?
28-30mm claimed (30-32mm WAM) is very common in the NorCal scene. We race on some pretty bad roads.
Love you vids
District? We don't even have enough riders where I live for a state championship. LOL
In today's video, can this pro take on 8 guys?
What’s up with the mph? Under 700 watts at 59 mph??
On flat ground??
Extraordinarily interesting
in the video he said the high rise buildings make for some GPS glitches
holy
I wonder what's happening with Lamperti with the incoming Quickstep - Jumbo merger.
You were hit by a car?
Patrick Lafavre is not happy
Ryan’s voice is putting me to sleep. Drink some coffee and add a little inflection.
U got hit by a car?!? Waaat
60mph? Get a speed sensor bro

They are aero socks. They save 5 watts. Tour riders wear them also. It's not about fashion, it's about performance.
