ZZ Top doesn't get mentioned often, but dude is obviously super strong. Was in the initial break, fought to get back on that break, and then at the end he's at the front of the peleton chasing the front two riders and it looks like he ends up on the podium with a 3rd place finish. And he's not a super slender guy either. Great job ZZ Top dude!

Thanks Jeff. Always great content and commentary. As you know, the five USA Cycling categories contain a wide variety of proficiency of skills -and- experiences. Basically, I'm debating your "elementary basic level" label because we know that some new, as well as years of experienced racers, are extremely comfortable and capable in a speeding pack of racers (eg category 4). Conversely, some "pros" can ride their bikes fast, but not in all situations, like the guy that took out Bryan(!). Sorry if I'm super sensitive on this topic, but decades of introducing new racers to pack racing has taught me not to judge. On a related note, Zwift racers have also taught us to change up our 2023 "Beginning Racer Program" curriculum, so thanks again for helping so many new racers. We will be holding more "mock racing scenarios" to better prepare new racers. Good luck in your racing tomorrow Bryan!

The crash and the "almost" crash, were just when both riders lower down the pedal of the inside of the curve, so they were the responsible because that action lose grip. If you want the most grip on a flat corner, you lower down the pedal of the outside, and you are gonna pass no matter what. But if you do the opposite, you are gonna lose grip. Yup, that's what hapen when you want to keep pedaling in the extreme situations, you lower the pedal of the inside, and you lose grip and get ready for pain.
