Great video again, as usual. 🙏 You reminded me of a book from Huang Po on The Transmission of Mind that I bought and forgot to read. 😂 How's that for Don't Know mind? I didn't even remember I had it! So this is my call to go back to it. Looking forward to your next talk or sitting!

I think you are starting to get that you and Hardcore Zen have outgrown the box/cage of Zen and the both of you would probably do well to move on and you are both aware of this but seem to be or have some sort of obligation to it and it's probably because you built an audience and some sort of identity around it and you both are realizing how limited it is and it's put you in a box/cage. The both of you are way to in the know to stay in the quote zen space. It's just another cage Uncle Jacky and you are so much more than that kind of more or less type of group think. Fully step into your Lotus-ness. It ain't going to happen in some kind of zen ideologies. Just Sayin !! because you are so much more and it's beyond evident and this is not the first time you or Hardcore Zen have heard this. You both have out grown it and primarily see through it. Congratulations !!!! Blessings
Don’t know mind is like the mind of a hunter. You need the mind of a hunter to catch those pesky thoughts as they arise. You’re not going to catch many thoughts with podcast mind. Probably.
Hi Jack, you often talk about books you enjoy, so I have a book-related question: Could you please give an introduction/overview of Sasaki Roshi's "Manifesting Zen" and "Tathagata Zen"? What kind of topics do they cover? Do they capture the essence of Sasaki Roshi's teachings in general? I find "Buddha Is The Center of Gravity" quite a difficult book to get into, so I'm curious about the Roshi's other books - maybe they are a more accessible and complete representations of his teachings? They are quite expensive (ordering from Germany), and I'm not sure whether or not to spend that much money on them... Anyway, I would really appreciate to hear your thoughts on these books in a future video. 🙏🏼
hey my friend, Buddha is the center of gravity is easily his most accessible book, and manifesting Zen is way more difficult, and about tathagata zen is all but impossible! you know, rereading Buddha is the center of gravity is a good bet. but you have given me a good video idea, an overview of those two tricky books.
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, your podcast has been profoundly helpful for me these past few days. I live in the U.S., and I'm pretty sure that we've gone pure bat-shitty crazy. Efforting to not effort in relation to clinging to my practice. Anyone remember that Twilight Zone episode about pausing the world with a TV remote? Yeah, I'm looking for that remote.
Sorry. A bit off topic here, but i thought i should inform you that the "handshake" and "massage parlor " sutras have been added to the Baldy Cliff Records. Thank you for your lived experience and insight. You will not be receiving monetary compensation as this will fall under "fair use". Now if you'd excuse me, ill go back to pretending i know anything about Zen.🙏 Namaste😅
@@zenconfidential25 One unskillful thought I had recently is that one of the critiques of suicide is that it hurts other people right? So what if I purposefully alienate myself from others so that when I die, nobody will notice or be disturbed by it?
Just saw your comment and had to reply. I was taught that from a Buddhist point of view you have 'Precious human birth'. You are fortunate not only to have human birth but are also are in contact with the Buddhist teachings (otherwise you wouldn't be watching this video. Suicide is really unwise and a great waste. So please take care of yourself then you can help take care of others. This morning I felt depressed but if I wasn't here I couldn't have cooked a meal for the lady who lives downstairs who is a drug addict and in a bad way.
You cannot alienate yourself from others, ultimately. You can't reduce yourself to a zero presence. You're always here, you've been given to us. And vice versa.
@@zenconfidential25 Let's take for example, Tim McCarthy. I was a student of his back in the 1980s (when Brad Warner was also a student). The last time I talked to him was in 2001 or so. It looks like he has done ok without me. Why can't I extend that idea to everyone else (i.e. people can do ok without me)?
"Words are lies",
that's a Zen gem I'm keeping.
Thank you
Thank you!!

You were a Zen expert before watching it!
I realized some time ago, that people have to many opinions. Nobody forces us to have opinion on every topic, we should chill out :D

Where did Huang Po say that there is no distinction between sound and no sound (I might be misquoting him)?
That sounds about right, but I don’t know where he said it.
