If Hodinkee was to keep only one video it should be this one. No Patek, no AP, low key Rolex and most of all a TRUE passion for watches. Money doesn’t buy honesty!
What a wonderful 21 minute moment away from the depressing and decadent times we live in Listening to a well spoken gentleman, whose deep erudition is whispered rather than shouted, in a conversation with one of the best members of the Hodinkee crew, was a real treat. I know I will watch this episode many times over. Thank you Hodinkee.
Finally , a real collector and enthusiast. This is much more interesting than a stuffy dude in a Brioni suit showing us his expensive watches with as much depth as a pair of khakis.
This may be the best Talking Watches yet: passionate without being cloying, substance without arrogance, and Cole did a fantastic job relating to Bill’s world.
Definitely one of the best episodes so far. Talking watches has, of late, become a show for celebrities/influencers to flex expensive jewelry. No heart in any of those “collections”. No narratives except “look at how I acquired this impossible to get piece of bling.” No different than youtubers bragging about getting into the private room at an expensive for expensive’s sake Vegas joint. This particular episode though… this one is different. It’s actually amazing how different it is. The watches featured are not worth a billion dollars. None of the high houses of horology are present. No fancy complications or bizarrely specific minutiae is ever spoken of. It’s just about a man with an incredibly thoughtful collection of pieces that tell you about his own personal history, his relationship with watches, his time on this plane, and the things he holds dear. Bravo Hodinkee for finally getting it right! Please feature more episodes like this.
My favourite "Talking Watches"- episode. A collection with a general theme and beautiful stories behind every watch. And some real style. Lovely to see that Mr. Higgins has the same affection for his affordable watches as for his Blancpains and Jaeger LeCoultres, too.
Collecting watches in pairs, seeing the collection as a city.... what a fascinating mind and personality. I second the comments that this episode could easily last 1 hour - Bravo Hodinkee!
The kind of collection, the story, the art of pairing two watches. God, this makes new collectors like me hopeful, that I can collect great watches without selling my kidneys. So thank you for such beautiful episodes that tell us more about characteristics of watches.
Indeed Sir. In any American English video or podcast recorded now, « sort of like » usually takes 30% of the speech time. It feels so good to watch a episode where it does not.
This is the best video since a while, finally we saw some pieces that we have never seen before. This is much more interesting than always seeing the same Patek, AP and Rolex watches that we see everywhere else already. Keep going inti this direction Hodinkee :)
This is an absolutely beautiful episode of Talking Watches. What a unique and compelling collector. I really appreciate his approach to collecting and the fact that there is a compelling story for every single watch or pair of watches. Would love to hear more about his collection- there's so much to talk about!
This is the kind of collector and personality everyone would appreciate. No exception. Very genuine guy with a very deep understanding. We got sick from people showing their 50 pateks. Please make part 2 and 3 with this gentleman. He is a true gem
Easily the best Talking Watches Hodinkee has put out. Cole is the right guy for this, and this gentleman has a fascinating collection and collecting philosophy. GIVE US A ONE HOUR EPISODE OF THIS!
Another episode with a genuine chronology lover showing a deep understanding of how watches should be collected. Story for every piece, I could watch this gentleman for 4h straight. Phenomenal example that a great collection doesn’t need to cost 1.7M.
Incredible collection, and just as importantly Bill is incredible at speaking about it. Very beautiful, unique pieces here. He seems willing to keep the conversation going, so I hope a part 2 happens in the future!
I’m sooo happy to see this gentleman’s collection of so many beautiful leather straps. I have grown so tired of so many steel sports watches (probably with black or blue dials from Rolex, Patek or AP).
20min is a very little time for a video with such a man. We need part 2 and 3 please. This is the kind of Hodinkee talking watches that made you stand out of the crowd
Loved every minute of this and I didn't even notice it was 20 minutes till it ended, a collection that stemmed from enthusiasm about watches. Please do part two with this gentleman.
A true collection that can be 2 hours long with stories of each watch recorded into this video. I felt that finally, Hodinkee has delivered a guest that collects strange and uniquely designed watches, rather than some watch snobs who just collect Rolex and Patek.
So happy to see another Talking Watches! TW1 got the hook in me and I have remained with your channel since. Looking forward to seeing your next offering. I the mean time, I will go back and watch the previous ones. Thank you!
1:33, 4:08 Always love seeing Universal Geneves in people's collections. I wish there was a full version where they go through all pairings. Hopefully we see a part 2 of this collection.
Dear Hodinkee, What a wonderful episode and treat 🙂⌚️🙏 . I like Mr. Higgins and the philosophy that he presented infront of us in this episode (The pairings, The City point of view, the buildings). I do hope that that Mr. Higgins will meet one day Mr. Goldberger and that they will have the opportunity to sit and discuss about watches, life, philosophy, history and design 🙏 . I believe that these two gentlemen will find a common language 🙏⌚️ . Well done Hodinkee! 👏 ⌚️🙏
The Omega 1940 watch with the markings HS 8 means it was a Royal Navy Fleet Air Arm pilots watch rather than RAF battle of Britain...the Weems watch looks exactly like the one worn by the Tom Hardy character in the Spitfire featured in the film Dunkirk. Amazing collection and a great Talking Watches
Even among vintage watch collectors, this guy is a standout. He's developed his own collecting philosophy which I have great respect for. Too many people just collect what the other guy wants. But he marches to his own tastes. Also if you look closely, you can make out some really rare pieces. A great collection that really shows the tastes of the collector
Folks at HODINKEE , don’t be fearful of a 1 hour video. There is so much more here I would love to hear more about.
I feel like they skipped a bunch that were on the table. This would and easily could have been a 1hr talking watches. Both were so knowledgeable on
100%
Totally agreed
Absolutely 💯 I love talking watches I can do 1 hr long all the time ⏲
Agree!!! There is so much more to see with this collection and yet they have axed those important moments 😩
Cole. Dont move. Continue part 2 with this gentleman. What a journey. What an episode
And the guy with the background sounds choices, my hat off to you
Spot on!
yes please!
If Hodinkee was to keep only one video it should be this one. No Patek, no AP, low key Rolex and most of all a TRUE passion for watches. Money doesn’t buy honesty!
Heb dini frässi Beni
I do agree. This episode ranks in the top three Talking Watches ever.
Wonderful episode! While millions of dollars of high-end pieces are fun to see, these more thoughtful collections are really fun to see.
2 minutes in and I can already tell that this is one of the best Talking Watches episodes ever.
What a wonderful 21 minute moment away from the depressing and decadent times we live in
Listening to a well spoken gentleman, whose deep erudition is whispered rather than shouted, in a conversation with one of the best members of the Hodinkee crew, was a real treat.

Finally , a real collector and enthusiast. This is much more interesting than a stuffy dude in a Brioni suit showing us his expensive watches with as much depth as a pair of khakis.
And the "stories" behind them are mind bogglingly boring.
That was so wonderful, much better than the senseless hoarding or rolex wanking of others. a collection with heart and story
Hear, hear! So many interesting and unique vintage watches out there that don't cost an arm and an leg.
..truth...!!
This may be the best Talking Watches yet: passionate without being cloying, substance without arrogance, and Cole did a fantastic job relating to Bill’s world.
Definitely one of the best episodes so far.

I absolutely want to hear more from this gentleman, such an interesting episode! Please do a part 2 !!
My favourite "Talking Watches"- episode. A collection with a general theme and beautiful stories behind every watch. And some real style. Lovely to see that Mr. Higgins has the same affection for his affordable watches as for his Blancpains and Jaeger LeCoultres, too.
Was not expecting those Blancpain Tourbs !!! This is talking watches. Super happy to see unique pieces and not 30 dozen vintage subs.
This is BY FAR my favorite talking watches. This man needs/requires a part 2, pronto!
This might be the best episode to date. Shame it is so cut down, would love to see everything on that table.
Collecting watches in pairs, seeing the collection as a city.... what a fascinating mind and personality. I second the comments that this episode could easily last 1 hour - Bravo Hodinkee!
Wonderful collection and person. Could have watched easily one more hour.
What a pleasure to meet Mr. Higgins - wonderful collection. Great interview.👏👏
The kind of collection, the story, the art of pairing two watches. God, this makes new collectors like me hopeful, that I can collect great watches without selling my kidneys. So thank you for such beautiful episodes that tell us more about characteristics of watches.
Omg finally a great episode, all passion no hype.
This is the best episode ever!!! Hodinkee if there is a longer version of this please post it, we can hear him talk all day
One of the best episodes so far! Amazing to watch
The passion is real in this one. Love it.
Great to see true collectors who follow a passion, vs wealth and status signaling.
Agree! I'm so tired of those rolex boys 🤷 investment people who likes money.ore than watches
Yes. This was brilliant fun. An elegant gentleman who collects watches like I do in my tiny way and speaks about them in perfectly formed sentences .
Many thanks for having Hodinkee, keep on doing these wonderful watch talks - Greetings from Germany

This felt relatable. What a fantastic collection.
So many pieces I’ve never seen before. So cool. It’s also funny how similar his voice is to Joe Thompson’s.
My thought too! I thought it was Joe before they showed faces.
@@BryanDBraddy Too funny
Great to see a collector who dives deep into the non-hype brands.
There isn't a lot on RUclips that revokes the same feelings than a video like this. Keep it up Hodinkee
What a wonderfully diverse and fascinating collection. That was really fun to witness. Love it!
One of the best "Talking Watches". Definitely should have been a longer session. Beautiful collection of time pieces indeed.
This is the coolest episode of Talking Watches. Nice to see a collector who thinks for himself.
Easily the best Talking Watches Hodinkee has put out. Cole is the right guy for this, and this gentleman has a fascinating collection and collecting philosophy. GIVE US A ONE HOUR EPISODE OF THIS!
Absolute perfect episode. More like this! And I echo many other commenters in that this needs a follow up immediately. THIS is the content we crave.
Another episode with a genuine chronology lover showing a deep understanding of how watches should be collected. Story for every piece, I could watch this gentleman for 4h straight. Phenomenal example that a great collection doesn’t need to cost 1.7M.
Great conversation. Seems like a proper nice guy with a beautiful collection. Make more episodes with him!
His eloquent statements and philosophies are refreshing to see. I’d love to see Bill and John Mayer talk watches together
Incredible collection, and just as importantly Bill is incredible at speaking about it. Very beautiful, unique pieces here. He seems willing to keep the conversation going, so I hope a part 2 happens in the future!
Good lord this collection definitely deserves multiple episodes.
Wow...i could have watched this for hours! Need a part 2!
More of this type of content please. These are the kind of watches us thousandaires have been collecting all these years.
As a vintage collector this is like heaven. Great collection.
Great episode! I loved the city / watch comparison and the enthusiasim of the collector.
I’m sooo happy to see this gentleman’s collection of so many beautiful leather straps. I have grown so tired of so many steel sports watches (probably with black or blue dials from Rolex, Patek or AP).
Thank you Hodinkee for finding a true enthusiast.
Such an amazing collection. Some very cool watches. Don't think I've ever seen a collection with watches only on straps.
Really enjoyed that. Always love a video hosted by Cole. So calm, clear and educational.
Fabulous experience of an interview... he loves leather straps !!! I love this !!!
Mr. Higgins really has a great way with words and is very well spoken. Another amazing Talking Watches!
Perchance one of my favorite collections exhibited in Talking Watches, so far
This really was a magical episode.. I was looking interest in talking watches and the flame has been rekindled!
I love this guy. Need a full hour with this gentleman. Love when they feature people that aren’t super celebrities
A true collection that can be 2 hours long with stories of each watch recorded into this video. I felt that finally, Hodinkee has delivered a guest that collects strange and uniquely designed watches, rather than some watch snobs who just collect Rolex and Patek.
Rewatching this video for the second time. What an awesome video!
What an incredible episode. Truly one of the best talking watches so far, fascinating throughout. Please bring out a part 2/ similar guests.
True collector. Love coming back to this episode.
this was great. would gladly watch him go through the entire table
What a great episode! The city analogy for the watch world really was spot on too.
Incredible episode with fun stories. A true enthusiast.
Amazing episode, I would listen to this gentleman for hours.
Wonderful episode - feels like the first couple of episodes of this series!
So happy to see another Talking Watches! TW1 got the hook in me and I have remained with your channel since. Looking forward to seeing your next offering. I the mean time, I will go back and watch the previous ones. Thank you!
This is the most unique and interesting collection I have ever seen.
Hodinkee, this is you at your absolute best! I could watch parts 2 through 5 no problem!
Incredible collection of watches 👍 thanks for sharing
1:33, 4:08 Always love seeing Universal Geneves in people's collections. I wish there was a full version where they go through all pairings. Hopefully we see a part 2 of this collection.

Above and beyond my favorite episode to date. Wonderfully done, Cole!
This has to be the best talking watches episode so far!
Love this episode so much. Authentic and informative!
Hey Hodinkee gang, it's spelled Grolier Club, thrilled to see the clubhouse here!
Yes, yes, yes. This is what the watch collecting world needed right now, badly.
These more recent Talking Watches have been so good jesus.
Loved the long form Talking Watches. More like this.
"When does patina become dirt?" I love that. I have never been a fan of patina'd watches, so I liked hearing that.
Wowser that just blew all the other episodes out of the water 👊
I can listen to Bill talk about his wonderful pieces all day long
The BlancPain Tourbillons are beautiful watches! Wow My fave in his collection! And what a collection it is!!
Best talking watches in years! 👌🏼
Best one yet. More like this, please!
Fascinating fellow and a great collection with interesting stories and without the blingy glitz.
Very insightful and i really enjoyed the point about the philosophy of watch collecting in modern times towards the end of the video.
Best video by far. Please do a part two.
We need part 2 with this guy!
One of the best episodes!!
What a great episode! More of these please!
One of the better talking watces, in my opinion.
A true gentleman and a true collection. ❤
Pure Class. Thank you.
