Dear Persolaise Thank you for introducing me to my new fragrance in my small collection. I wear vintage Shalimar, wore Coco (like Madame Persolaise) for years but found myself tired of it and went in search for my new perfume and after much I found it-Le Lion-3 great perfumes in one! I have a back up, it is majestic. You clearly can get a feeling for the fragrance notes that I am drawn to and feel that just work with my body chemistry. Tried other types of great perfumes but just don’t work for me. I then watched this video and after your description Santal Blush I felt it spoke to me and got a decant. I wasn’t initially sure about it but the more I wore it, the more I had to keep wearing it and knew I had to own it. Thank you so much for the gift of Santal Blush and your gift of bringing joy, elegance and civility in a world that feels nothing like these qualities Karen
Tobacco vanille is simple to me but so classy, so comforting, I love it. I also have Ombre leather parfum and find it equally as special.. However I don't understand Beau De Jour, I smelt it in the department store and it quite simply smelt like a classic barber shop fougere,,, nothing against them but there are so many and I think many that are better and cheaper. If I am going to shell out on a Tom Ford I will chose something that is special. Great video by the way, really want to catch you live some more...

Santal Blush is my favourite Tom Ford fragrance too. Great to know the perfumers behind the fragrances even if this information is not officially confirmed by Tom Ford. Thanks so much for another insightful and engaging video!
Adore Sahara Noir, RIP, Tobacco Vanille, and Champaca Absolute. Also love Lost Cherry and some of the Neroli « freshies » but not at that price for the (lack of) lasting power. Thank you for your thoughtful intel as always.
WuZi in your stream comments said Tom Ford needed to do an iris;. Well he did; Violet Blond, and I loved it. My first TF and it is discontinued. I also have and love Plum Japonaise and Fleur de Chine also discontinued. It's all very irritating. Thank you for your video! Julia
So many great scents in Tom Ford catalogue! Too bad they go on a chopping block quite quickly also. Some of my favorites are long gone but i still cherish them: Moss Breches, Japon Noir, Velvet Gardenia, Amber Absolute,For Men Extreme, Arabian Wood, Black Violet, Musk Pure, Vert Boheme, Plum Japonais..... Great video Persolaise! :)
New subscriber here! Great reviews and you have gotten me to explore Serge Lutens (gorgeous. So thank you for that!). I enjoy several Tom Ford perfumes. So many have a bold presence on paper but sit beautifully on the skin and mold with me- sort of enhancing my presence rather than loudly announcing it. Dark, spicy scents have always called to me so TF is perfect for that. Even the “light” scents still give that feel which I find interesting. Broke my heart when I finished my Plum Japonais and Shanghai Lily, really hope those come back. Noir de Noir, Noir Extreme and Tuscan Leather are some of my most worn. TL is so beautiful and warm, completely feel the romanticism of it (but yes, definitely lighter than it once was). My husband adores Santal Blush and the creaminess of it makes me melt. I tried it many times at the counter, walked away, but kept coming back. It’s addictive. I love the florals in Venetian Bergamot and it feels very grounding and comforting when I wear it. Jasmine Rouge was the first jasmine to nearly bring me to my knees (Serge Lutens Fils de Joie being the 2nd). It captured the whole essence of night blooming jasmine when it starts to flower in my home town of New Orleans. The performance on that one is abysmal though
My favorite from Tom Ford (as of this writing) is Metallique. Everyone in my family likes it and as you know, that doesn’t always happen. Really enjoy it!
Tom Ford's collection has indeed many jewels! What a pity that the prices are so high and the discontinuations so frequent. My first Tom Ford was Tobacco Vanille many years ago. I loved it then but cannot stand it anymore. Too heavy and spicy. But it's the tobacco facet which makes me nauseous now. I often struggle with tobacco in perfume. Among my TF favorites: Amber Absolute, Noir de Noir, Oud Fleur, Santal Blush. I also thought Violet Blonde and Black Violet interesting. I'm certainly forgetting some. Your mentioning of 4711 brought me back in time. It was one of the first scents I've ever smelled since my grandparents used to have a bottle in their bathroom. Every time I came to visit, I enjoyed smelling it!
Late to the party, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching the video and reading the comments. TF is my favourite house. albeit, not in it's current state. Reformulations, discontinuations and to myself, sub-par releases; let alone the price increases! my current top 5, excluding discontinuations, are; Tobacco Vanille Noir Extreme EdP Tuscan leather White Suede Ebene Fume discontinued scents I adore from TF are; Plum Japonais Italian Cypress Arabian Wood Azure Lime
I still love Noir de Noir and good old Oud Wood. I am after another bottle of Cafe Rose after giving my first one away (I bought it 10 years too early only now am I appreciating roses 🤷♀️). I’m currently enjoying decants of Noir Extreme (I can get all variants here still) and Ombré Leather (I love smelling like dark Smokey violets made out of leather and dusted with icing sugar…it’s unique) …. After a many year avoidance of TF frags I’ve enjoyed these (OL and NE) along with Rose Prick and Vanille Fatale. I’ve still not smelt Tobacco Vanille. I have tried Santal Blush which my nose freaked out over - it smelt like squashed ants (I had the same reaction with CdG Blue Santal)… no idea. Must try again as palates change :). Another great video 🙌
Another fabulously informative video. I don’t often head to the Tom Ford counter so I’m not too au fait with them but maybe I will make a tangent (sarky response to an earlier comment…) and discover yet more scents. Anyone can be to the point in any type of review and anyone can choose any review to watch and I definitely choose yours!
From the 60+ Tom Fords I’ve smelled over the years, the only one I liked enough for a full bottle is Noir de Noir. I came pretty close to getting Rose Prick FB for Christmas, but put it off because I decided to upgrade my POL to FB from travel size instead. I have not smelled Santal Blush, so will find it and try :-)
@@Persolaise l loved everything about it and it’s so amazing to live through a period of history. I thought I couldn’t love the Queen more but she was incredible . I most certainly celebrated her platinum jubilee well .
I just love this format with more in-depth discussions on the topic. That's where I get a lot of my fragrance knowledge from, so thank you Persolaise! What are your quick thoughts on Black Orchid and Tobacco Oud since they didn't make the Top 10?
Thank you so much for the kind words. I've always found BO a bit too harsh and strident -- you'll find a few of my reviews on it here and on the blog: persolaise.com/perfume-reviews TO never made a lasting impression on me.
Always so informative and elegant, thank you.👌 Really like TF fragrances. The private blends are overpriced but very good in quality and ingredients. And the range is so broad and creative. From fresh to dark. And from deep and complex to linear and even shallow. By the way, do you know Grey Vetiver EDP is discontinued? Can't seem to find it anywhere. Greetings from Holland.🌷
Thanks again Persolaise for the great content💚. I always seem to miss your live videos😂. As for Tom Ford, I'd love to one day try the full range of his fragrances, including the discontinued ones. At the moment I managed to find a bottle of TF London and I would love it if I could find Black Violet, it was my first "expensive" scent crush😄
I had a chance to try some Tom Fords at the Boston airport in the US recently. The line had always seemed too big and overwhelming for me to want to sample. Some that were mentioned as discontinued in this video I saw there: Vert d’Encens, Cafe Rose, Champaca Absolute. I was really moved by the new Rose d’Russie - smoky rose wowiee!!! 😍 other favs include Santal Blush, Beau de Jour, Soleil Brulant or Neige (I forget which), Violet Blonde (discontinued) and Neroli Portofino 😎 Lost Cherry is fun. I honestly found all the ones I tried quite interesting and pleasant!
You can have moderator's on your live chats Persoliase. They'll make sure everyone leaves proper comments and plays nice. I have Ambre Leather Parfum and Tuscan Leather 2013. I have sampled Ombre Leather 16 and Ombre Leather. I enjoy them all. I also have Beau de Jour and very much enjoy it. I have a 10 ml of Noir de Noir and haven't popped it open yet. I haven't sampled Santal Blush nor Soleil Brulant yet, but I will. Ohh, yes, Tom Ford's Noir. I think I have 2. Awesome stuff. I don't like the Patchouli Absolu. Nope. I do like and wish I had picked up a bottle of Plum Japonais. Oh well. I have sampled Grey Vetiver, but I like Guerlain's much more. I need to get another bottle of it. I have sampled Neroli Portifino and enjoy it, but I seem to enjoy Comme des Garcons Citrico. I do love Neroli Potifino's smooth airy quality when it wafts around me. Very nice. Tobacco Vanille can be a little too dense for me at times. I like Tobacco Rouge by Phadon a little more. Wonderful review of Tom's Top 10.
I haven't tried many Tom Fords; afraid to fall in love at that price point. Besides the discontinued Plum Japonais, I really like Noir de Noir. I did not get Black Orchid at all.
You shot yourself in the heel, santal blush is now sold out in the UK 🤣🤣🤣Thank you for the review! I'm cold to TF, but I keep trying from time to time.
Excellent as always. I still pine over Gucci rush for men for nostalgic reasons. I wonder if someone would recommend a fragrance from Tom Ford’s current lineup that has a similar spirit? Is Santal blush similar?
Is the Santal Blush in the dark opaque bottle different from the original one in the light transparent bottle? My impression is the dark one is a little more woody and lactonic, while the original was more spicy, but they smell very similar. I'm not sure. Maybe they are practically identical or more different than I think. Opinions? I have only the dark bottle (and a 2 ml sample of the "original", which I treasure). I'm curious about you opinion (everyone's opinion)
Black Orchid was the first perfume I felt I needed to own. A couple years into frag com now, I swapped original black orchid for the Parfum version. I love it, still.
Mr. P you had asked for new video ideas a few days back...how about a review of your favorite home fragrances: reed diffusers, candles, etc.? I am looking for one for my home but I can't find good reviews, just obvious promotional articles.
Grey Vetiver is the only Tom Ford current lineup that I would wear. I will also add that I think that the Private Blend line is badly thought out. Too many fragrances, no coherence, loads of them ultimately being discontinued. Many of the fragrances in that lineup also smell like good ideas or sketches for a perfume but smell unfinished.
So many beautiful fragrances and missed ones too , I loved Noir and Sahara Noir . Noir I must admit to buying dupes of as I love it too . Tobacco vanille is so gorgeous but agree it’s a tad over done .
@angela What have you found to be a good dupe for SN? I’ve never smelled the original but a friend of mine has the Urban Outfitters Oud Sahara and people say it’s like TF SN.
@@lisaesposito7317 I had one from a company called Copycat and it was decent but I believe they have discontinued it too sadly . I got mine about 18 months ago .
@@lisaesposito7317 I have just remembered Eden perfume and they do vegan fragrance and have many dupes and they have a Sahara noir which is worth a try . I have quite a few of their scents and love them x
Off subject, as it isn't Tom Ford, but will you be reviewing the recently released Prada 'Infusion de Vanille' & 'Infusion d'Ylang' ? (I've just blind bought Vanille... 🤞)
There is no time stamp for this episode. Please do not leave it out. Usually I watch the recorded ones and also need to jump to specific fragrances from time to time. Your channel is a staple reference for me. Thank you.
For me TV smells like an old woman's scent. Go figure. My favorites are : TL, OW, OL, NP/F. All the rest do not posses the WOW-factor. The magical element. I don't do "nice" scents. I only do magic scents. My skin-nose combination are very (very!) picky... it's frustrating. The king, the sultan, the governor, the best of the best is TL. It's just addictive. So sexy. (I also got Godolphin ,to vary). As for OW, Thameen produced a as-good-as interpretation : Carved Oud. It's even a bit better. As for sandalwood - I chose Lorenzo Villoresi's Sandalo. Genius !!. Try it. It's amazing. (and while you're at it, try also the samples of Villoresi's Patchouli, Vetiver, Theseus and Atman Xaman). Warning : the opening of Patchouli and Vetiver are dirty as hell, but once they open up - it's magical.
@@Persolaise I really enjoy your videos. I find them entertaining, informative, educating and fun to watch. Keep on the good work. I wish I had a nose like yours. :) transmuted Its rare that I buy a specific ingredient-oriented scent, like Patchouli, Vetiver or Sandalo from Villoresi (these exceptions are worth it bigtime). Thanks again for your content. How can I get a notification in advance on a live stream of yours?
@@zvikaso I know that notifications can sometimes be a problem, but if you subscribe to the channel and click on the little bell, you should receive notifications. I also try to give advance notice on my Instagram.
I am tempted to blind buy Patchouli Absolu, since i really enjoy that note a lot. Also i dont know what happened to Tuscan Leather, i bought a bottle last year and it seems rather watered down, i need to search for an older bottle/decant to get the full experience
so sorry this comment is out-of-place: regarding your invitation for theme suggestions, i would like to request that you consider perfumes that might be appropriate for solemn situations; e.g: funerals, break-ups, some religious happenings, etc. i'd refer to these scents as melancholic, but that is so terribly subjective. i feel that you and your subscribers might find this an area of interest. and of course, many thanks for your continued excellent efforts and terrific successes in all things 'perfume.'
Sahara Noir, Plum Japonais (love the four Atelier d'orient scents), Vert d'Encens (all the Vert scents), Ébène Fumé , Cafe Rose (love the Jardin Noir scents, Jasmin Rouge, Grey Vetiver, Moss Breches, Santal Blush, TF For Men Extreme ... etc. I love the Line in general with the exception of Black Orchid & and her flankers. Right ... the "new" names lack class and frankly, creativity. And that just isn't Tom, from my limited impression of him, anyway. Haven't tried FF (nope) or Lost Cherry (blech, am sure I'd hate it.) or Bitter Peach (love the bottle) or Metallique. I am interested in Rose Prick. Haven't tried the Blue Bottles or the Lavender scents: the latter of which I'll eventually try in decant size.
Dearest Persolaise, as one of those who cherish your videos on a regular basis- please forgive me asking: Are you a virgo? I obviously have a thing with astrolgy but don't want to molest anyone - so sorry and thank you. All the best to you!
@@Persolaise You do remind me of "those" I know. Though I adjust to the fact that people should not be categorized by the archetypes of astrolgy, I find that particularly virgos resemble each other in terms of analytical skills, being well-spoken and genuine kindness - so feel free to take this as a compliment. Anyhow - keep on rocking! & sniffing :)
Interesting thing about Geranium Pour Monsieur vs Beau de Jour. I LOVE both so much...they both serve their purpose but the thing that does link them together is that they're both a perfect "men's" fragrance through and through. GPM reminds me of retro fougere whereas BDJ has a slight modern touch to it.
I like your content a lot, you seem knowledgeable and so in tune in the fragrance community, but all that chatter with tangent of a tangent is unbearable. I just don’t have hours to be watching all that rambling. I would greatly appreciate some to the point fragrance reviews. Thank you kindly.

2) Ombré Leather - a well worn leather jacket that is somehow floral and sweetens up on my skin. Lasts on my skin till the next day.
3) Noir Extreme - dense sweet and spicy. Exotic and deep.
4) Lost Cherry - Cherry liqueur. Stays on my skin and on clothing despite that many say it doesn’t last.
5) Rose Prick - Sweet Spicy Rose.

Noir de Noir is my favorite TF. Mysterious.
Thanks for watching.
Just curious, did you try Japon Noir, Bois Rouge and Purple Patchouli? i recently got samples of these 3
I’m not sure I did. I think they’re older ones, right?
@@Persolaise Yes, the original 2007 releases, discontinued around 2010 sadly
Mr. P you had asked for new video ideas a few days back...how about a review of your favorite home fragrances: reed diffusers, candles, etc.? I am looking for one for my home but I can't find good reviews, just obvious promotional articles.
Thanks, Lia. A very good idea.
I should mention that I’ve written about home scents now and then over on the blog.
Thanks for watching. I think GV has many fans.
I loved Black Violet, Plum Japonais and the Vert series but I am the Queen of Discontinued Things across many brands 😬
Ha! That sounds like another queen that Alice should have met during her adventures.
@@Persolaise yes, a Queen a la Game of Thrones with a glass throne constructed of all the discontinued perfumes that I mourn 😀
So many beautiful fragrances and missed ones too , I loved Noir and Sahara Noir . Noir I must admit to buying dupes of as I love it too . Tobacco vanille is so gorgeous but agree it’s a tad over done .
So many of us miss Sahara Noir.
Noir de Noir is the best! It’s a seductive dream scent.
Glad you like it.
How about top 10 abstract perfumes? I mean the very well blended ones where specific notes don’t stand out much.
That’s a good one - thank you.
Off subject, as it isn't Tom Ford, but will you be reviewing the recently released Prada 'Infusion de Vanille' & 'Infusion d'Ylang' ? (I've just blind bought Vanille... 🤞)
I’ll have to see if I can get a sample.
There is no time stamp for this episode. Please do not leave it out. Usually I watch the recorded ones and also need to jump to specific fragrances from time to time. Your channel is a staple reference for me. Thank you.
Thanks for watching. It takes me a little while to sort out the timestamps. They're done now for this episode.
@@Persolaise Thank you ❤️🙏
Noir de Noir is my fave from TF. I went to go some on and can’t find my bottle! moving with a perfume collection is awful.
Oh dear, I hope you find it soon.
Thanks for watching.
And because you I am very curious to buy Santal Blush.
It's beautiful!
I adore Amber Absolute.
Good to know.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks very much for watching. I’m a big fan of Sandalo.
@@Persolaise I really enjoy your videos. I find them entertaining, informative, educating and fun to watch. Keep on the good work.
I wish I had a nose like yours. :)
transmuted
Its rare that I buy a specific ingredient-oriented scent, like Patchouli, Vetiver or Sandalo from Villoresi (these exceptions are worth it bigtime).
Oh dear, I hope it hasn't been changed too much.
Thanks for watching.
TF Noir Pour Femme is fantastic, and it’s discontinued. 😢
So many discontinuations from TF.
so sorry this comment is out-of-place: regarding your invitation for theme suggestions, i would like to request that you consider perfumes that might be appropriate for solemn situations; e.g: funerals, break-ups, some religious happenings, etc. i'd refer to these scents as melancholic, but that is so terribly subjective. i feel that you and your subscribers might find this an area of interest. and of course, many thanks for your continued excellent efforts and terrific successes in all things 'perfume.'
Thanks very much for this, Alan.
I miss Plum Japonais so much! White Suede was fantastic for me too
Thanks very much for watching.
Can’t believe there are people who dislike Black Orchid , there is just so much going on , I found the parfum a bit more linear then the edp .
Good to know.
Thanks for watching.
I was quite taken with Métallique: an interesting expression of silvery coldness.
Thanks for watching.
I love Rose Prick and Lost Cherry. Both are worth seeking a sample.
Lavender Extreme is quite lovely!!
Dearest Persolaise, as one of those who cherish your videos on a regular basis- please forgive me asking: Are you a virgo?
I obviously have a thing with astrolgy but don't want to molest anyone - so sorry and thank you.
All the best to you!
Hi,
If you’re asking, then please may I ask a question in return: what made you think I’m a Virgo?
I’m not, as it happens. I’m Sagittarius.
@@Persolaise
You do remind me of "those" I know.
Great description, thank you.
Hahahahaha. Jeremy.
😂
Doesn’t exactly give you confidence in the company if they keep discontinuing all the time
That’s one way of looking at it.
I like your content a lot, you seem knowledgeable and so in tune in the fragrance community, but all that chatter with tangent of a tangent is unbearable. I just don’t have hours to be watching all that rambling. I would greatly appreciate some to the point fragrance reviews. Thank you kindly.
Thanks for the feedback.
