it's spring here in Melbourne Australia and it feels perfect for spring too. I need to flip back 6 months so I can find your spring scents. It's always a bit topsy-turvy watching and reading about season specific recommendations from the opposite hemisphere, but enjoyable all the same. @@Persolaise
What’s great list. I’m happy our contributions towards a bottle of Iris Gris made you so happy. You’re a wonderful gift receiver. Mitouko is one of my favorites. I wear it often and am complimented on it often. In fact, it’s one of my few perfumes that garners attention…people just want to know at I’m wearing. I’m happy to learn that the new extrait is wonderful. Thank you!
I spent part of the weekend helping a friend shop for his father’s birthday gift. My exact words where “you should get him a bottle of Terre D’Hermes. It’s sophisticated and approachable… the bottle looks great… and it is Hermes…what’s not to like” Glad to see that I haven’t led him astray :)
Came in a little late and missed the Heaven Can Wait segment. I'm with you - not only do I love it, I surprised myself my buying a FB (not always a Malle fan). It's delicate but delightful.
I so enjoyed your analogy of a scent and the time of the turning of the leaves. I live on the coast of Maine, USA, where the fall colors are starting to peak through. It is time to start rotating wardrobe items including perfumes.
Cologne Blanche is one of my favorites from Dior. I have read an interview from 2000’s with Hedi and apparently this was the smell of Dior Homme boutiques.
My top wears for autumn on the Canadian Pacific west coast so far this year include Francesca Bianchi Angel's Dust, 4160 Captured By Candlelight, Diptyque Orpheon.
Definitely some things on your list that I need to explore. Can't wear Mitsouko, never agreed with me, but Hermes Terre is in high rotation as soon as the weather cools. Also love Ambre Narguile for fall. Very cozy scent.
I picked "Etat Libre d'Orange Attaquer Le Soleil Marquis De Sade" for this fall and winter. I don't know why people don't talk about it, t's significantly underrated. An utmost artistic fragrance you MUST try. I usually bought 1 full bottle out of trying about 50 samples or so and this one was the winner. Believe me man, there is something very mysterious about it that can magic anybody, it's dark, rich, masculine but at the ame time very wearable. Believe me, try it and them remember my comment here
You were so great in this stream, my first live! Sorry for all my interjections, but I got a bit excited since it was the first opportunity I had to interact. Need to try Iris de Gris! Currently wearing Encens Flamboyant by Goutal, since any day can be a church incense day for me.
I recently went to FM in Los Angeles to try Heaven Can Wait. I didn't fall in love, but I did end up purchasing The Moon. I like the combination of a sweet scent with oud. I've also been layering Montale Aoud Cuir d’Arabie with Tauerville Rose Flash. Rose Flash on its own is a little too jammy/syrupy for me, but layered on top with oud it's fantastic. Other favorites for fall right now: 1.) Amouage Opus XIV - Royal Tobacco 2.) Tom Ford Tobacco Oud 3.) Clive Christian Blonde Amber 4.) Lubin Korrigan 5.) Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan 6.) Penhaligon's Legacy of Petra 7.) Areej Le Doré Oud Luwak 8.) Hermès Hermessence Cardamusc 9.) Andy Tauer Lonestar Memories 10.) Carthusia Terra Mia
Fall is ideal for Mitsouko, though I wear it all year. It's the only perfume along with Shalimar and No. 19 that require me to restrain myself, lest I use up bottles too quickly. My other loves are La Myrrhe and Iris Silver Mist but for those, I don't feel like any person is a worthy canvas and I enjoy them on blotter at my desk in private to be in awe as they develop in slow motion.
Oh yes, autumn 🍁🍂. The leaves are still green here in Holland. We have a great warm fall week coming. What a wonderful list. Thank you. Especially the Chanel Pour Monsieur and Encre Noir, almost forgot I have a bottle. Vetiver, leafy smells. And someone mentioned Caron Yatagan. Definitely a fall fragrance. I wear L'instant de Guerlain edp a lot in autumn. I tend to the more spicy sweet chypres. And talking about sweetness. I just want to break a lance for Mancera Tonka Cola. I just had to purchase a full bottle. It's the best Mancera I ever smelled. It's a fun perfume with indeed a very realistic Coca Cola smell. But it's much deeper than you think. The Sicilian lemon and cinnamon opening is so good. The patchouli is amazing and sturdy. The tonka vanilla with labdanum and benzoin base is almost to die for. I'm really pleasantly surprised by this Mancera. A brand where I sometimes have some doubts about. Well, I wish you a great autumn season with a beautiful Indian Summer coming week.
Love Mitsouko so much! Together with Féminité du Bois my everlasting love affair. 😍 Another lovely choice for fall is Gris Charnel. Cosy and warm, like an embrace.
Your Top Ten Autumn perfumes are becoming my favorites. Well, almost. Your Viking Cologne review will be difficult to top. Agreed Serge Lutens Rose de Nuit would have been a wonderful addition.
When I bought the 2022 Cologne Blanche I found it ok but nothing special then a year later, the magic happened in the bottle, some aging / maceration ? Now it’s a wonderful Almond nutty brightened made aery with the orange blossom and last all day on me enveloping me in a blissful bubble 🥰🥰 the sillage is definitely very classy and sophisticated 👍🏻
Hello! You mentioned refrigerating one of your perfumes. Do you recommend doing this if one doesn't have another temperature controlled option for fragrances? I have heard contradictory things- putting your perfumes in the fridge keeps them fresh longer AND refrigerated perfumes will oxidize faster
I confess, I’ve never heard that refrigeration can be harmful. I try to keep most of my scents in a cool place. It’s only the most precious ones that go in the fridge.
Not as bright as the EdT however the longevity is so much better. It is more sophisticated and a bit heavy compared to EdT. It definitely carries the EdT DNA. The EdT lasts 15 minutes on me unfortunately.

@@Persolaise, oh definitely! I agree it seems rather unlikely for The Queen NOT to wear Chanel no.5.... It was simply too famous and gorgeous for not being represented! Anyway, when checking her perfumes today, L'heure Bleue appeared to be the lifelong favourite. But as mentioned previously Mitsouko seems to have been highly appreciated as well. The 'White Rose' I mentioned is of course the British brand 'Floris', founded in the late 1800's. She apparently used Floris White Rose for her wedding day, and continued to love it during the years. I have also read that she liked Penthaligon's 'Bluebell', which for the country life part of her would reflect the outdoors, green, rainy day smelling perfume. As a side note, since Mrs. Thatcher also had Bluebell as a lifelong favourite, I somehow imagine that the sharp, metallic note it brings out on some people's skin, makes it represent how different a scent can appear on different people.
