A lot of people find tuberose to be blatantly sensual and bold, but for me - a distinctly un-diva-like person - it’s just evocative of beautiful, natural flowers in a heavenly garden on a summer evening. Love ‘em! (Also, I’m new to your channel and am enjoying your thoughtful, articulate descriptions on different fragrances.)

I so agree with your comment!! I find carnal flower’s association with seduction confusing as to me it’s a living flower stem and all. I’d love to know where the association came from or if it’s a response many people naturally have without an outside influence?

@@hayleilei9604 I agree with you. I like Carnal Flower because it seems naturalistic to me. I found it to be quite easy to wear. A seductive perfume is something else in my opinion.

@@PersolaiseI'm Indian, and flowers are usually spiritual to us. If it's the lotus, it's about detachment and rising above worldly bondage. White florals = purity. I googled Tuberose (known as Rajnigandha) and sure enough, I found an article along the lines of devotion and purity.

I own a adore Nuit de Bakelit. Incredibly evocative scent. Always places me in an old Victorian glasshouse. I can almost feel the soil on tiles, vapour hanging in the air and tendrils that are a little too close for comfort. Speaking of tendrils, this is potent stuff and one spray in my house will easily work its way from room to room. Probably the most diffusive perfume I own.

I love Nuit de Bakelite. It's so peculiar and enticing, but I don't think it suits me.
I was surprised by Gucci's Bloom too. I remember smelling at the first time and I was like: wow, this is an entry level tuberose? at this price? and it actually smells like flowers? I prefer the original one in the pink bottle and the more solar, yellow floral centric one in the yellow bottle.

Thanks for this entertaining video! Up until a few years ago, I didn't like tuberose perfumes. Now I have a few favorites. I generally like my tuberoses to be quite naturalistic smelling and preferably green and fresh. Among my favorites: FM Carnal Flower, L'artisan Parfumeur Nuit de Tubéreuse, Tubéreuse Absolue Perris Monte Carlo, Violet Compliment. Guerlain's Joyeuse Tubéreuse is a nice innocent fresh flower shop tuberose. I can't stand Fracas. It is really too much for me. Tubéreuse Criminelle is interesting but I can't wear it. Hello 😊
Ever since I can remember in my 20’s( now 62) Lou Lou, Poison, Opium and Red Door were a nightmare 😢, I get an immediate reaction with sharp burning in my nose where the smell trickles down my throat, watery eyes followed by a full blown migraine.
I’ve been searching most of my life as to what this was and after sampling ‘Perris’ Tuberose’ last month; I recoiled so quickly , I realised it was Tuberose.
    Same reaction with Carnal Flower🤷🏻‍♀️
I find it so interesting how our Olfactory system affects our physical response
I adore Shalimar yet oddly cannot have the original on my skin, I can only wear it on my clothes as 20 minutes on skin …. severe migraine, my only take is that it’s gone into my bloodstream causing the reaction as the scent is bliss for my nose
I’m here to learn and enjoying your content and the chats

I have feel both attracted and repelled by tuberose. It is a scent that defies social boundaries yet maintains a female association, a combination that makes people uncomfortable. My favorite on your list is vintage Poison extrait de parfum because that is such a Gothic ambery take on tuberose. I love to sniff Fracas, Carnal Flower, and Tuberose Criminal, but if I try to wear them it somehow doesn't suit me. I am absolutely intrigued with Night Blossom from Via del Profumo as tuberose taken to its full predatory, scandalous potential. Thank you for another wonderful list and conversation. Hello from India! I just love tuberose as a note, it's creamy, dreamy and very reminiscent of my childhood where tuberose sticks would be brought into the house to put in vases etc. Loved your video on this and excited to explore your channel further. I have a suggestion for you: if and when you come to India next, there's a store called Forest Essentials, which does a sugar soap called "Bengal Tuberose", and personally, it's the closest fragrance to those natural, radiant tuberose sticks that I've ever smelt (so far), and I am from Bengal. The ultimate uplifting soap for me. Hope you too like it!

Gucci Bloom Ambrosia stands out from the rest of my collection. I almost have to be 'ready' for it and I couldn't figure out why. Then I realised that it's because it doesn't TRY to be something, it doesn't try to be sexy or dominant or alluring or even romantic. It just IS a bunch of flowers and nature thrown together. Sorry, I think in my rush to reply, I didn't express myself very clearly. When I said there were different reasons, I genuinely just meant there were different reasons, with no subtext implied.
If I've been commissioned to carry out some work for a brand, then I don't review or comment on their scents for an extended period of time (this is mentioned in my blurb on each video).
