Handsworth was my childhood home. Handsworth park on my bike all through the summer. Walking from Handsworth to Newtown cos it was one area. This was in the 70s when racism was rife, but Handsworth held themselves against it. Really sad to see the young people now not really experiencing their childhood in the same way, but without all the beef and the violence that goes with it.
all the problems they talk about are self inflicted. getting kicked out of school, behave yourself and stop thinking you have to fight everyone and be rude. getting asked to disperse from a public area while your standing ballied up in all black and in a large group is scary and no one wants that in their community. if you want to be treated better start acting better and do better for yourself and stop blaming the government for your actions.
Most kids act up, white kids just don’t get the same consequences for similar behaviors (I’ve gotten away with so much shit while my black classmates/friends would get arrested/expelled).

Im a survivor of the foster care system and homelessness, so I can somewhat familiarise with sense of survival. Keep developing and mastering life.
