For those confused, it was a girl all along and RA is narrating from our perspective as he doesnt know its a girl either, its called a plot twist. Listen to the lyrics through out it gives hints, the beginning lyrics RA says "all the girls are into him but he aint feeling no girls" so hes either a girl or a gay.

For those of you that are confused, CHINO was a girl from the start however she was a tom boy and lived the life that the boys around her were living.
If you watch it again, you'll pick up on the little easter eggs that were dropped in the song and on the reveal.
I think the plot twist worked and added a new perspective to this way of life compared to your typical hood films.
