In this video, I poke a little bit of fun at those shows and chat about the most requested topic on my channel... Corruption.
Since I started the channel earlier this year, this has genuinely been one of my most requested videos. I actually filmed this video earlier in the year, and it was supposed to be released several months ago. Unfortunately your talking about corruption like this but the real problem is abuse of power and acting like concentration camp guards as in following every order. Just have the honest conversation.

I reckon the Kingpin of all crime around Yorkshire is this Mrs Miggins character.

There are very few professions where you can destroy someone's life on a whim and seldom be held to account.
I was booked when I was younger, probably about 17, for possession of cannabis. A very small amount probably no bigger than the size of a pea. A couple of years later I was sitting at some traffic lights and a police car coming towards me chucked a u turn and pulled me over and accused me of speeding. Bearing in mind I was at a standstill which I pointed out, although that just seem to irritate the officer even more (but I was driving an escort RS turbo ,it was the late 90’s). After he had done a check on me he insisted that I tell him where the drugs were and that if I didn’t tell him he was going to confiscate my car arrest me and my wife. I didn’t have any drugs, I was heading out to dinner but It didn’t stop this particular officer. His accusations were based on the fact that I had ‘prior’ and because there was cigarettes in the car I must also be smoking something illegal. My wife and myself were arrested and my car was taken away. Six hours later we were released and when I got my car back he had been damaged inside and out. I suppose it’s more of an abuse of powers over corruption but Still, his attitude stank and he ruined my night based on literally nothing. However, he’s the only bad Apple I’ve come across in 42 years. Just about every other copper I’ve come across has been nothing but fair and courteous and does a great job and the world would be a much worse place without them. pre 2000 police had a lot more freedom to bend the rules and fix people up over bullshit accusations, but now everyone has a camera, dashcam, police bodycam, cctv etc... not easy to do that anymore

They don’t care about your camera if they do something wrong they just seize your camera as ‘evidence’ then delete whatever they like, and if they put their body worn on that some how ‘gets deleted’.

@@barneybiggles, most forces are now usinx Axon 2 or Axon 3 cameras. The footage is stored under licence for a MINIMUM of 30 days before it can be deleted.
To delete, the officer has to categorise it for deletion & explain why. That is the 30/60 day countdown starting (30 or 60 days dependent on licence paid for by the force). Other categories are various retention categories dependent on why to retain.
Thus it will NOT just disappear, as it cannot be deleted any other way (unless the officer happens to also be an IT Guru who could hack the Pentagon in 30 seconds…)
When I was 15 I got stopped for having long hair in public by one of these pre-PACE era coppers that liked to throw their weight around. Bear in mind that although I was 15, I was short and skinny, and had a babyface so people generally thought I was about 12-13.
He claimed that there had been multiple 999 calls about me behaving suspiciously (absolute bullshit. I'd been there about 90 seconds, and if there had been all these emergency calls, they would have sent a car with the lights on, not some overweight 50 year old on foot. He didn't even have a radio, so how would he have known?).
He took all my details and told me that if anything didn't check out he'd be coming back for me, and as he gets to decide what to write in his report about me, he could put something that would would stay on record permanently and ruin my life.
This happened on a street that was less than 2 minutes from my home, where I'd been living for 11 years. As it was my route to school, I walked down that street, there and back five days a week, and I'd walk down it more if I was going to a friend's house, to the park, the video shop, into town. I'd never been in trouble with the police, had no problems with any of the residents, and was generally a good kid (mainly because I was so introverted).
But after that day for the next few months I avoided all the streets in that area and went the long way round because I was so scared that he was going to be waiting for me. I'm bigger now and have more self confidence, but that incident back in 1992 has stayed with me.
I'm a pretty laid back guy, but if time travel is ever invented, I'm going back to that day and I'm going to kick the absolute fuck out of him.

at the end of the day its not going to make any diffrence there allways be corruption in the system as long as there is darkness in the hearts of the many there will allways be corruption in the system they are employing the mentally disordered who are going in to these jobs with negative intent in mind befor even taking on these job roles to serve there own agenda there striped of any genuine empathy or compassion for human life

The problem is certain officers covering up for others when complaints are made. This does happen more than Ben may like to think or admit

Actually that's bullshit! If you actually read the research on child sexual abuse within the church you will find that a lot of it was down to institutional corruption and an internal culture of victimisation and coverup that was passed down from one generation of clergy to the next for hundreds of years. There are documents in the archdiocese of Dublin from the 1700s that record child exploitation and the churches efforts to cover it up. If you are actually interested read the book by Marie Keenan on this subject.

@@patthewoodboy As someone who has worked with "kiddy fiddlers" as a social work practitioner and spent years researching child protection, family practice and the profile of predators, I'm pretty sure I know more about this topic than you. Ignorant muppets like yourself seem to love to spout off bullshit on topics you know nothing about (thinking your clever) but really all you are doing is making yourself look like an absolute twat! The fact is most abused children are abused by family members and those perpetrators who aren't family tend to be authority figures who developed abusive behaviours through their role in an institution. Paedophilic and abusive tendencies are learnt (it's not "nature" or an inherent part of a person's sexuality) and tend to be triggered by proximity to children and a perpetrators experience of trauma. Most child abusers are themselves victims of child abuse (it's one of the strongest indicators of risk of offending), but when its compounded by opportunity and being part of an institution that prioritizes self protection over child protection (the catholic church) the chance if chaos is massive.
The sad part if all this is that if most perpetrators got help before they offended they wouldn't carry out any abuse; saving a child from an experience that destroys their lives. But muppets like you spreading falsehoods and misinformation, creating a mob like environment, simply push people underground. This increases the risks to children as potential perpetrators go into hiding or simply hide it from themselves, never getting the help they need for themselves and to keep children safe.
All this is evidence based knowledge. I'll prefer it to the warped ignorance plonkers like you come up with.

Many police officers already knew how bad Wayne Couzens was, long before the tragic event. How was Wayne Couzens still allowed to be a police officer with such a bad reputation or questionable character.

Good video Ben and probably the best time to release it. Unfortunately everone remembers the bad incidents. I was anti-police more months after a bad MH incident when I went missing and overdosed. I was being sick, trying to get up and one stamped on my leg (left a size nine bruise) to stop me getting up....I held it against them for so long but it's only a select few who spoil it....

I had a chat with a bloke last night who was saying all police are corrupt. But couldn’t define what he meant by corruption when asked. Just kept saying because they are. This was a guy who works in social care. Said the power just goes to the head of officers.
I've worked with a quite a few Social Workers and Carers, as well as NHS staff, who I could say are certainly "job pissed" as we call it, and let the power go to their head.
That being said the vast majority of them do a fantastic job and I'd certainly never lump them all together because of the negative experiences I've had with some of them.
Same with all careers isn't it.

Ben I served 24 years in the Army and at times psychotic episodes that for me are very scary, I have called the police (not 999) and told them I thought I could see me people on my garden or following me etc. The police came out spoke to me and reassured me, that all was ok and that I wasn't in trouble or wasting their time and even came back several times of the next few days ensure I felt save. The place I have come into contact have been nothing but respectful, kind and genuine and would like to take this moment to say thank you all for your service

I would love to tell you so much working in my previous job for area DST, HMP security as a dog handler, but I can’t due to the secrets act…….all I will say is: catching criminals is bread n butter, but catching a corrupt staff member who you thought was ya oppo but turns out to be bent & putting your life & ya colleagues lives in danger is the best feeling!…..watching their whole world drop outta their arse in that moment is very satisfying!!
A 'bad apple' at Tesco won't leave a member of the public with a recognised criminal record that stays with them for life.

A bad apple big businessman or politician can ruin the lives of thousands upon thousands of people from corruption. The higher the responsibility the bigger the consequences I suppose.
I will say that in the few interactions I have had with the police they have been professional and compassionate. I do ensure that I treat them with a high level of politeness and respect though, as I’m sure many people do not do.
There seems to be a pattern these days of people going around antagonising the police to get a reaction and subsequent payout. You can make the argument that the police shouldn’t take the bait but they are human at the end of the day. Would anyone want to have to get through their workday while being harassed all day, and not react?

You're completely spot on about bad apples being everywhere and unavoidable. I think it's not the big things that annoy people, it's more little things like getting out of speeding tickets and such. Or at least the perception that police do. And there are other things that are simply poor training and/or ignorance, not corruption, like mis-application of street photography laws. And i guess occasionally you get an officer having a bad day who oversteps his powers due to being a bit short-tempered that day. But again that isn't corruption.
I honestly hope you need them one day lol. Then your opinion will change. Your rose tinted glasses will soon come off. My home was attacked because i reported foreign drug dealers out side my house. In the three years since I've had 11 Acquittals in the last three months and another trial Tuesday where once again i will smash them in court and that will be 12 in 4. They have me on bail for 13 further accusations that they keep extending my bail conditions. I know them and i know this guy is full of B/S.

Ive had interactions with police a lot due to where i live/frequent and due to past bad experiences with neighbours and family etc and every time the police have been decent
Yeah ... after all, it's only a Few Bad Apples, isn't it? And so what if they do some drunk driving, parking wherever they want, flash their Warrant Card to get out of offences, demand that parking tickets are scrapped, get free food and drink at restaurants, help themselves to 'found' property, etc, etc, etc .... every job has its perks don't they?

My uncle was a DCI in the late 90s and early 2000s. He told me about a time when a police officer in Nottingham pulled him over accusing him of speeding 40mph over the limit, not knowing he was a DCI. (my uncle worked in Berkshire). That's all he told me don't know what happened with the police officer that pulled him over. Like you said there are always bad apples in every job, which doesn't mean everyone in that line of work is a terrible human.

For crying out loud....let's assume wayne couzens had failed selection....somebody with the mindset to kidnap/rape/murder would still have committed that crime!! There will always be a percentage in all walks of life that decieve...if I wanted to pretend to be a police officer I could very easily do so....that doesn't mean all police agree with rape and murder???
The law in this country seems to be against those trying to uphold the law...its a very slippery slope, eventually those who wish to make a difference to society won't take the risk......where do we source police officers from then?

The bad apples thing may be true but it's also unreasonable for any police to expect the public to view them as individuals. That's the point of a uniform..you forgo your individual identity to represent the group. So if your group has bad apples then the public have no reason or obligation to look at you any differently.

Yes, there are bad apples everywhere but police have the power of the state behind them and the ability to imprison and/or destroy. The Guildford Four, Birmingham Six, Raphael Rowe, Blair Peach etc didn't have their lives obliterated by the guy at the local corner shop. Btw, finish the phrase. "One bad apple spoils the whole damn bunch."
@@clairepod1 yes, that's why you get rid of bad apples when you find them. All of those cases you mention are decades old; today, police officers are under far greater scrutiny. Just last month an officer was sacked for dishonesty, for under-paying an honesty box by 90p...

The undercover officers who impregnated women in the protest groups they infiltrated not only kept their jobs and pensions But the police and courts protected them to the extent that they don't have to pay maintenance for the children they fathered under false pretences (and false names stolen from dead children) while on duty.

Subscribed recently. It was a must, Ben is so straight to the point. This video is one perfect example. Same in the police as in any business, you have a code of conduct, you abid to that or you are disciplined. Apart from police are also watched by evenone in the media, so even tougher. Thanks for opening up about it Ben. From my experience, there are good and bad cops. The bad ones tend to have "bad backs" and retire early or "need to tie their shoelace" when they should be chasing after someone or they're just plain rude and sarcastic. Unfortunately we don't always hear about the good ones, and I wish we did.

Brilliant, Ben! You brought back so many memories of my time as a civilian working in a Police Office (which shall remain nameless). We used to do a pie run. Nothing for free, we all paid, but a car would go early morning and bring back however many warm pork pies and the whole office would smell like the pie shop for the rest of the day.
The Officers I worked with were good people, reliable and we all helped each other, inside and outside of the office. Great days. I have never laughed so much in my whole life as I did with those people. I remember them with much affection.

First of all, I just want to say a massive thank you for all your years as a police officer. I was intrigued by the points you were making at the end of the video about having to fill out forms for any gifts given to the police. I quite often leave chocolate bars are bags of chocolate buttons etc on the windscreen of my local police cars - as a thank you for all that they do in the area. I completely understand that because of the possibility of someone trying to bribe the police, that they wouldn't be able to accept gifts, but it's such a shame, as I really just want to show my appreciation to them - at I know that the police don't get a lot of thanks for all that they do. What would your advice be to someone like me - what's the best way to show/let a police officer know that you appreciate them?

I use to work for my local council and when I was doing my run (whatever streets I had to clean up) I had local shops and takeaways when it gets to a little break they would either offer me dinner or I'd get crisps or a free drink, I thought I was doing something that people really appreciated so I always accepted the gift and thanked them. I never saw it in a harmful way maybe they gave me free things because I always kept their shop area clean, I would never accept money from anyone but I have had moment where maybe the elderly have thrown it in my pocket when I said no thank you, I was around 18 so I was very young.
Corruption is everywhere unfortunately. I work for a local government authority and have witnessed low level corruption (middle managers giving all the cushy jobs to their mates) all the way up to the top (leader of the council awarding multi-million pound contracts in return for brown envelopes). At least the police have units dedicated to ferreting it out. In my sector, there is very little scrutiny and people continue to get away with it.

Crimebodge sets out to find the minority of bad apples in the police and then tar every police officer in the land with his brush. His followers and the comment sections in his videos are the worst!! Boils my piss.
@@RICHARD10195 Crimebodge is a touch dramatic, and i agree with you that he likes to tar every copper with the same brush. However, his videos are worth watching if you can see past his whining.
Watching videos from untrained “legal experts” is dangerous. I’ve witnessed a fair few police interactions with compliance And non compliance. Invariably, the non compliance just piques the interest further.
Far better info given by those trained, eg BlackBeltBarrister; and He Always gives the caveat that it is not specific legal advise as each case on it’s own merits. He’s covered things like stop & search, very well I may add. Point to note, in a stop search, if nothing is found & you’ve not previously identified yourself, (eg you match a suspect description but have nothing on you to link you to the alleged crime) you don’t Have to give your details. A stop & account, however, Will require you to give details. Not sure how things go if you’re stopped for account & then searched.
@@paulcollyer801 Well he doesn't give out legal advice and makes it clear that you should go to a qualified solicitor if you're involved with the police. He points out a lot of wrongful behaviour and the illegal or morally dubious activity of the police. I think you need to watch more of the channel to grasp his true position on the content he makes. It would be interesting to watch what Ben thinks of some of the people put on display.
I mean this with the greatest of respect and honest curiosity Ben and while watching I can’t help but think of those cases in the long past we’ve all heard of the police falsifying evidence to solve cases where people in some cases even getting hung?
Isn’t that part of the reason the death sentence was abolished in the UK????

It did happen, I can’t remember the name of the program but they used to dig up old cases often 100 or more years old, if I remember correctly the family of the accused applied because there was a belief within the family or community that someone had been stitched up usually. The case was re examined by 2 barristers, one prosecution and one defence and they would come to a conclusion of it being a ‘safe’ or ‘unsafe’ prosecution - basically would the evidence provided stand up under modern court procedures. In a number of cases it was proven that the evidence was at best very circumstantial or contrived, and at worst, almost entirely fabricated or falsified.

Fabulous insight into Police Corruption, I think it’s fair to say that there are bad apples everywhere in life, these rotten ones slip through the net and commit some awful crimes. Great video again Ben👍🏼

@@johnb8956 How many police officers have stood to the side when an illegal search is taking place? or a section 43 terrorism act stop? I've not seen one video where that doesnt happen but I've seen many where the opposite happens, they'll never police each other like they do the public, please provide evidence such as bodycam video if they do?

@@johnb8956 It's not something you can statistically count, it's only ever going to be estimates as not every interaction is recorded or reported on. How many videos have yopu seen of an officer telling another officer they are going too far vs police infringing someone's rights? Both would be reported on and we both know which we see more of. If you could find stats on illegal searches be my guest, I couldnt find any reliable ones, wonder why.

I have lots of police colleagues & friends and they are honest people however they are human.
They and we all can be tempted. However that’s no excuse.
Basically I believe that we have the best police force in the world.
Bad apples crop up in all professions and walks of life.

They're not "bad apples". The UK police has consistently been found to be corrupt, misogynistic and institutionally racist.
This is so accurate, we have the same thing in NHS. People investigated go home on full pay and 'disappear' and we can't ask where they are because they may be on the sick and that's confidential info.

Excellent channel and really good content
A few years ago I was knocked off my motorbike by an oncoming car what was on my side of the road and overtaking on double white lines, happened pretty quick I couldn’t manoeuvre out of the way.
Head on collision.
Time went by, the police and ambulance arrived. I was in a bit of a bad way.
I was breathalysed which I understand, but the person who was driving and who knocked me off wasn’t breathalysed even after the paramedics said they could smell alcohol on her breath.
Turned out it was an off duty wpc at the time.
She was uninsured
After a long battle I managed to get the amazing sum of £12 a week off her for 4 years for the damage to my written off motorbike. I had 3 months unpaid time off of work.
Something told me that was very very dodgy.
I often wonder if it was the other way around.

Many, many years ago one of my friends was a policeman and was identified for potential fast track career development. At about the same time he was approached and asked if he wanted to join The Lodge. Due to his religious beliefs he declined the offer. A bit later the whole fast track thing just disappeared. I hope it's not like that now.

Ben, you’re one of 2 things. A straight down the middle ex-copper whose approach to policing was doing the right thing and more to the point, you’re human. The way you talk about the more difficult situations and the conscience element of it shows that. It’s either that or you’re a bloody good actor!
Anyone with half a brain cell knows that tv dramas featuring the emergency services are nonsense, you just have to watch casualty with a basic knowledge of first aid to prove that!

so we never used to go through drive thru cos without fail every time we did there'd be a code red and we'd be boxed in the drive thru. but yeah, 100% agree. I always paid for my food where at all possible. we had some sandwich shops that never had the prices displayed and I think they were probably giving discounts but I also don't know if they actually had a normal price or just made it up every time

One of the biggest problems is the denial from senior management and at a ministerial level, instead of stamping on it fast and one bad apple can spread the rot but it's not on a mass scale like the media would have us believe.
Appreciate you being candid and maybe your area was well run and had good police that acted professionally but when reports like the Operation Tiberius report come out, the public have every right to be pissed off.
Tell that to the victims of police corruption love the point on discipline and complaints much the same as the IOPC not fit for purpose! And there's never any video footage lost sugar coating or brushing under the carpet!

Well tell the government then pal and ask for it to be brought in. I was a simple traffic cop who worked extremely hard to gain public trust and confidence.

When you’d as “have to admit” I just don’t get this at all. I’ve not seen any corruption at all pal. I’ve seen people fired, arrested and prisoned, but not seen any. I was a good officer, and what an officer should stand for. I literally don’t know what you think it is in the police, but the people who do break the law….need arresting!!! I’m with you 100% on that
ive experienced corruption first hand. my cousin fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a lorry head on at 55mph. he had a black box which showed his inputs etc. the traffic officer who attended was CONVINCED he had either committed suicide or had a hypo (diabetic) due to a doctors letter in his boot. during the investigation/ hearing it was proved with coroner reports and black box data that he had fallen asleep. fast forward 2 years, she had been pulling over every family member over repeatedly for apparently no reason. i was caught speeding yes my own fault, however the attitude i had even after being friendly, admitting fault etc. i had done my statement and posted in time, however i was summoned to court as they quote "hadn't received my statement". i made a record of the traffic officers statement just for reference against my own version. during the court day, the statement i was read was totally different to what i received. i raised this, and it apparently wasnt relevant. after i did my time with no licence (i did 59 right before a 60 limit, admitted fault straight away, pulled over without them even putting lights on as i knew already) i got a provisional again and got a 125. EVERY TIME SHE SAW ME OUT SHE WOULD PULL ME OVER. not just me my nan too who was the main person who proved her wrong initially. she made a complaint and it all stopped.
mid wales btw. i know there are a lot of decent officers around such as yourself. ive been following for several months now and its really brought to light a lot of things.
If i ever have emergency services behind me in a queue i always let them infront of me. Thank you all for doing to job most couldn't.
