I made a baby quilt based on another tutorial you did using this technique. After the blocks were assembled , cut and reassembled I decided to appliqué white circles of three different sizes all over the quilt. I named it "bubbles". It came out so cute. Thank you for the tutorial!

This kind of no pattern quilts are my favorite and so much fun to make! I am going to mix charm and mini charm packs! The hardest part for me is not over thinking the initial layout of fabrics. I have spent hours in the past trying to get things perfect, and never being happy with the result. I have made progress on letting go and not over thinking. Fun Fun Fun!

Please show us somewhere how you starch your little charm packs. I’ve seen how you do larger pieces of fabric but what do you place them on to starch being they’re so small and so many so they can dry overnight? I love this way of making a quilt of any kind. Thanks Kimberly! ❤❤❤

It's the same process as any other fabric on a towel to starch then on a drying rack to dry- she has shown how she starches jelly roll strips too. Everyone starches how they starch. Light, Medium and Heavy. Kimberly does Kimberly and do what I am doing how I feel like for the day -which can vary from medium to medium heavy from day to day 😉😊

If you used the same strong colour in the middle of each of the 25 square you could have a 2 little matching square in the centre of each block. Just like the disappearing 9 patch.

For those who dip fabric in starch, I dipped my precuts, put them in a salad spinner (folded nicely) and they came out wonderful. I emptied the spinner a couple times during each "load" and then hung them on the rack. I think very little ironing will be needed.

I just made this quilt! I had very similar fabric and was looking for something more fun than just a square patch quilt. It turned out so cute!!! I literally followed every step of this tutorial to get great results. It was for my daughter who wanted a bigger quilt so I just made more 5 square blocks. Thank you Kimberly for your awesome tutorials. I love how you explain everything and are so careful to be precise. I really appreciate your attention to every detail. I also like that you go a little slower on each step so we can stay with you. Thank you soooo much! On to my next quilt! xo

Also a great pieced backing of a complicated quilt using up your scraps and leftover fabric! I just finished a VERY complicated quilt so I’m using French General panels for the coordinating lap quilt. This would make a great backing for the lap quilt using my leftovers! Yay, I love it! I think I’ll just do the squares and not cut it up.

I got a call from my girlfriend today, she stated "I just don't know what to do what all my mom's clothing (she made them all) and I just can't part with them, but I don't wear them." I suggested making a memory quilt out of her mom's favorite dresses and vests. The first pattern I thought of was this one you demonstrated yesterday, it will be easy to cut-up the fabric into 5" squares and make this simple, yet beautiful quilt for her. Since she has two daughters, I am going to make two lap quilts (one for each of her daughter's). Thank you for the inspiration for this beautiful quilt pattern. By the way, I did view the other video where you show the 10" squares, but I really like the patchwork look of the 5" squares in this specific pattern. You are right, the 10" squares would be perfect for the Kaffe design fabric.

If you're mixing charm packs from different designers/makers it makes a lot of sense to go ahead and cut them down to 4.5" bc inevitably one is just slightly bigger than the other charm pack...ask me how I know🙄😁 plus it gets rid of those annoying pinked edges and gives more accuracy when sewing. Kimberly was right on this one.

I love the time-lapse idea...especially with a long project. Thank you for doing this. This is a great project for a beginner (hey that's me)! I think I will try this project first instead of your Cherry Charm Pack quilt. I feel terrible wasting fabric. I didn't think I had a 4.5 sq ruler but, I do. I've never used it because it is still wrapped in plastic lol. I really didn't want to starch them because there are so many. But, when you said that starching prevents the fabric from moving/slipping while sewing...well, that can be a big help. I make sure to use all my precuts in my projects. They are very expensive. I don't want to throw away good money and someone else's hard working in making and/or designing those fabrics. Remember, just because the project maker doesn't like the color doesn't mean someone else won't enjoy that color! I will be using Gingham Gardens because I have 3 charm packs on hand. I'm very excited to start this project. THANK YOU KIMBERLY!

@@lassitterfamilygospelandbl7339 I make my own starch too, though I do have spray starch in aeorosol can. I also like using StaFlo at 50:50 ratio. It has the advantage of being able to change ratios based on needs; it stays suspended better than homemade and does not go "off". Though sometimes I put a little bit of alcohol in it for help with that...not enough to harm fabric. A good spray bottle delivers a fine, even mist and makes short work.

Very cute. Thank you for showing this. My problem is the price of charm packs I Canada! If I had to use three, I would never trim them to 4.5”..way too much waste. Lol. You are awesome though!

super cute! and being picky? I can't do random either, I can make it "look" random lol but there is a lot of thought going into fabric picks and mixes.
