I'm an American, and I started getting into cricket four years ago. Warne was a huge part of that experience, as I learned the lore and history of the game. Watching the 2005 Ashes made me an England supporter, but I loved Warne the most among the Australians. This is going to affect a lot of people.

Shane Warne was the reason I picked up a cricket ball in 2007 and tried to bowl leg spin. He was one of the greatest impacts on my life at that young age and the news today has left me heartbroken. Even post retirement he was the greatest pundit and I could have watched a whole days play of test cricket if I knew he was behind the microphone.
A terribly sad day for cricket and for the many people who picked up this great game as a result of this incredible sportsman.
    Goodbye Warnie

I am in total shock, it doesn’t seem real, “Warnie” is no longer with us. Millions of cricket fans around the world have lost a legend and icon of the game. Shane brought so many people into the world of spin bowling, made it fun to watch, learn and enjoy. Can you just imagine how many youngsters he’s inspired to play the game, especially a spin bowler? He has continued this with his unbiased and knowledgeable commentating career, it was always a joy listening to his views and ideas of a game in progress, or in an interview.
RIP Shane, you will be remembered as a true legend and champion, we will miss you forever. RIP to Rodney Marsh as well, great Australian wicket keeper. Incredibly sad day for world cricket.

What a player. Popularised and mastered a form of bowling that was somewhat obtuse to passive fans of the sport. The 2005 Ashes, his bowling performances were incredible. His ball to Strauss is the greatest wicket I've seen taken. And his batting performance in the third test is one of the most resolute innings you will ever see played. Will never forget it.

In many moments he was a light that shone on this world with his performances and his energetic positive charisma.
I grew up watching him play and listening to him on commentary, he was a big part of any cricket followers pastime. An ever-present legend in the game for 30+ years. He will be a big miss in everyone’s lives. RIP Warney

Om shanti, Warnie. An absolute legend. The Greatest Spinner the world has ever seen has bowled a googly and foxed us all with his untimely exit from this world. Devastating news. He still had so very much to offer young cricketers, let alone his children. Not just a superstar of the game, not only an ambassador of it, he was by all repute a wonderful man and a loyal friend. RIP king.

First he made us fall in love of his bowling
Than he came to ipl, won it in very first season and gave world talents like shane watson, ravindra jadeja and yusuf pathan
In commentary he won us by his blunt opinions without any bias
An absolute legend of the game, he truly lived his life unapologetically and king sized
    RIP legend💔
Thankyou for all those memories and battles against tendulkar , you will be missed whenever there is talk about cricket

What i find really sad is that he spoke about another Australian crickter Rod Marsh passing away on his twitter and little did he know he would pass away himself just a few hours later. Life is so unpredictable.

I think every Cricketing nation (and even other non cricketing nations) are rocked by this tragedy, he was larger than life, he loved his cricket, he loved the fans whether they were Aussie or not, he wanted to entertain and he did so brilliantly, he wanted to be a good bowler, well mate, you became the best ever. R.I.P mate, As a Victorian, an Aussie and a Cricket fan I am super proud of you.

A larrikin, a freakish talent, a charmer and beguiler. Shane Warne had that iron will to win or at least go down trying that is so rare and so much appreciated by fans of sport. What a character! What a bloody tragedy. Bowled Warnie!
