Listened to this with my headphones. The bass was so heavy my headphones couldn't pick up the frequency clearly. I'm so excited to get this exact set up in my home.

Thanks Terry! I gotta say, from here, these sounded like a 'smaller boxy' sound than the Duo. I am listening on my KEF LS50 Wireless, but it still sounds like expensive rubbish. I will go listen in person and make a proper decision based on that, rather than a video. Thanks for your great content. I truly do appreciate all the hard work you put into each video. You inspire me to look and listen to new equipment that I have never heard before. Good on you mate!

I’ve got to ask :). Did you have a chance to try the Formation Bass with the Duos? If so was it a good combo?
Never enjoyed any B&W speakers, and the recent demo I had didn't do anything to change that. I do love your channel though!
Very hard to say for sure, but listening to / watching both videos on the same setup here at home and sat in exactly the same spot, this actually sounded (surprisingly) better to me than the Formation Duo you reviewed earlier. Would love to hear this in person. Great video as always!
its the subwoofer it really adds to the presentation I think. The soundbar doesnt have the same clarity and transparency as the duo full speakers but for a sound bar it's pretty darn good

For a soundbar this is revolutionary. Spanks the hell out of Bose. For people that have limited space or want to put one of these in a bedroom it will be a fantastic solution. If you don't want to buy a separate amp, speakers, dac, etc. etc. this is a very viable solution to their problems.
yes but then you. come to think that it brings no Dolby Atmos and has no HDMI - so lossy sound al the way. (?) (unless I'm wrong).
@@juanpabloaguilar481 It;s really a space thing for me...I would not want this if you have the room to go bigger. If your really space constrained like in a boat or mobile home it is an option.
Just bought this yesterday. Absolutely amazing. Makes Bose 700 and Sonos Playbar sound awful. Will be buying the sub next 😁

I'd also like to know: how does the BW Formation sound without the subwoofer? How about the Bose 700 solo?
How does it perform in terms of dialogue? Can you hear voices easily when watching movies?

Listening through my headphones, I can only compare to the sound signature of different systems I heard through the same headphones. Anyway, I think these will sound great in real person. And, I think they sound better than Formation Duo.

nope no sponsorship - in fact Bower hosted a press event for the launch of the Formation products and I didn't even get invited. So no affiliation at all - but if something is good I will obviously say so regardless of that - you can hear it for yourself

How does it compare to Martin Logan Vision X? Dialogues are very clear on the Vision soundbar. It also can pair with a sub.
How do they compare to the M1 MK2 speakers you have in the background of this video?
Love this, but also love my Samsung hw ms 660. This must be way better tho, just looking out for a good deal on this or panorama 3.
Great review. Getting the bar as a stand alone product for now in a few days. Thought it sounded more than awesome by itself. Even better punch in the base than any other soundbar i've heard. I have heard all the top ones ecxept the Ambeo from Sennheiser, but to the point. Can you tell in more specific detail, what do i get by adding the base both for movies and music, apart from the obvious ofc. Great video and would love if you did a rewiew on the new formation flex as i consider them as rear/multiroom speakers at a later point :)
I just bought the bar too and was wondering if I should go for the bass. I have neighbours below and above me so might not be used enough.
This sounds incredible but the reviews from actual customers are enough to make me start looking at other options for the bedroom. Sad because I love my other B&W speakers.

I hoped it can be transformed into 5.1.2 when watching movie, use it as stereo when listening to music.
How does this compare to the Definitive Technology STUDIO ADVANCE 5.1 System? Right now the Definitive is about half the price of the Bowers is which is why I ask.
That sound bar would spank the shit out of many sound bars.

A question: how can you stream hifi audio to the formation products? I believe that airplay 2 and bluetooth hd do not support full 24bit.

It is my understanding that Roon is the only way to go. Roon through a computer, which you can control through a phone to make it more comfortable.

Thanks, Terri. How do the formatting bar and bass compare to other common wireless audio setups for movies and music (i.e. Sonos playbar/beam + sub and Bose 700 bar + sub)?
I havent heard the others but I thought the sound quality combo was way ahead or much better than I was expecting them to be if that isnof any use :)

for something like that normally PA (public address) equipment is designed for large venues and big crowds.
How would you compare this combination to Formation Wedge? Do you think it's worth the double price tag? Also nobody talks about the improvements of Wedge over the previous Zeppelin Wireless model. Thanks!

I have two flex and a wedge, the wedge has more than enough punch to compensate the flex’s size. Don’t feel I personally need a Bass, although a very large room will require more bass, the top end has plenty of volume and clarity.
Just watched the video whilst on my quest for a sound bar setup to replace a full B&W 600 series package. The Bose sounds somewhat muddy but has heaps of features. The formation does not have HDMI so how would you control the volume from the TV? From what I’ve read the app can change the volume yet is extremely buggy. Hopefully it’s been update since those reviews. Do you happen to have insider info on the release of a second gen with HDMI and Atmos? And maybe wireless rears? Just don’t know whether to wait a while of go for this one. Will be in touch with nintronics hoping they still have the formation demo.

I’m trying to decide whether to purchase this sound bar or Sennheiser Ambeo. I’ve heard both. Ambeo is more versatile and great with movies, but streaming music this is soooo much better. The sound is so clear almost like a studio monitor sound. The Ambeo for music just wasn’t as clear. However this has no HDMI so it limits a lot. I’m so confused. I wish I could decide

This was the bar and bass - this was an event I attended, I didnt set this up, its not my kit or premises so I cant do any more demos of it sorry

Check the spec don't think so you need certain speakers for that

Have you tried formation bass with formation duo? I have duo but some low sound fullness are missing. Will the formation bass be a good addition?

That’s all great but I have for formation duos and the bar in the same room.. along with the audio and I can’t connect any of these together to the tv..
The bar allows one optical connection and audio also allows one optical connection
If the audio is paired with the duos disconnecting the audios optical connection from the tv disables the duos.. and if I want to use the duos how do I even connect the bar to the tv..
TVs only have one optical connection input !!
I can’t connect the bar to the audio to connect to the tv as a hub.. which is what it’s supposed to do
I mean talk about versatility.. you pay so much for the audio and you can’t even connect stuff from the formation line to it
Once the formation audio is linked to the duos the same formation audio can’t be linked with the bar to connect to the same tv

How could you make it so difficult to be able to do what your systems supposed to be able to do.. you simply don’t want people to enjoy your products.. because you can’t give options to customers to connect stuff to it not even to the audio.. can’t use two sets of formation wireless speakers with the formation audio that acts as a hub..
You need to contact Bowers directly about this - this video is not made by Bowers - they were co hosting an event, I attended and shot video and audio at the event.

Sound maby is great but price tag for soundbar + sub is too much.... You can buy stereo setup for that price.

Placing subwoofers in corners just generates distortion because of the extra resonances generated, not really that hifi.
Sorry mate that is totally untrue placing a subwoofer in the corner gives you the maximum room gain and also can help with bass timing and frequency response against a desired target.
I will make a video about this soon and why a lot of audiophiles get bass wrong :)
@@PursuitPerfectSystem I have to agree when you say you get maximum room gain, sound louder, fuller to the ear, but sadly that's colored sound, sound that is not coming from the speaker, but now coming from other resonances. But that is coloration of sound, similar of the horn tweeter effect. We want as less reflections as possible to avoid amplification of some frequencies and cancelation of others. Just to add, some speaker's frequency response is measured in an open space to avoid reflections, that avoid having a peaky frequency response instead to a hard to achieve flat response
Also wondering how that sub plays in the center too. Should get the 20hz done without help of wall I guess. Their design is interesting btw
