This has to be one of the most interesting videos Ive seen on youtube. I always spent time on finding the right Tags and now you are telling me they dont even matter... Thanks for saving my time from now now on
I would still bother with them like Devin does though. The tag system was turned off without telling us but it could very well be turned back on at some point in the future, and you know how the algorithm likes to recommend videos that are years old.
When I first saw Devin (probably came up in my feed from being a longtime Heller fan) one of the 1st things I thought of: Man I hope him and Heller team up. Glad to see these two put their minds together!
So many of the things you guys talk about in this video have taken years to sink in, though so much of this is on my mind on a daily basis. Nice job Devin!
I've recently been trying to get started in the personal finance & investing niche on RUclips. I have been trying to be as open as possible with the people who care to view and it seems to be paying off. So far everything Devin and Harris talked about checks out! Thanks for the great content as always!
7:20 Also who the creator is plays a huge part. I often see bad thumbnails from creators who are big and the video ends up doing 10x better because it has a "brand" behind it.
Some of the most valuable 30 minutes you'll find in this niche. Harris is an amazing figure in our corner of the internet and I think twitch would benefit if more of us were like him.
Enjoyed this video and learned quite a bit. As a full time content creator who streams on Twitch 9 times a week and posts 7-9 videos a week on RUclips, this was amazing to gain knowledge. I feel even more inspired to do more! Thanks Devin.
This. This is why I don't take course, and some people got mad at me because I am against their course. I am fine with learning, I take my time to learn and at the same time, do some experiments.
This was the first Harris Heller stream I ever watched. It took me a bit to become a regular viewer of his channel and now I’ve come full circle and enjoy both Devin’s and Harris’s streams.
Dude this makes sense because instead of paying and hoping I learn something I can learn something and pay you for helping me get there and when I get this advice for free I think of you and alpha gaming as more of a buddy that’s got my back than some guy who preys on suckers trying to climb (I’m not calling everyone who gives advice for a price someone who preys on those trying to climb)
New youtubers/streamer: you are SO lucky having this channel. There was nothing like this when I was starting out. It will literally knock TWO YEARS off the time you need to do youtube professionally.
Way late, but it's also about being entertaining and having charisma. That's what Harris brings to the table. Information is great. Entertainment is great. Being able to bring more things to the table is what binds viewers to creators.
Been watching Harris for quite a while and recently started watching Devin. With their combined information I shall be big brained in the world of online influencing
Devin, I watch your videos almost everyday because I never get to catch your streams. All I can say is please keep hammering out the AAA++++ quality content. I am an aspiring internet marketer, I haven't started RUclips or twitch just yet but I plan to make them my platform. Everything you cover on your channel has been super helpful. Thank you so much!
I'm gonna tell my kids this is the CEO of Twitch. For real though, FIRE content. Would love to see more from you and Harris. I discovered both of you through RUclips and have been following on Twitch.
Only part way though the video, but I felt I should mention a minor thing: The talk about good titles, good thumbnails, and 90% of discoverablity being tied to them, is explicitly talking about growth from within youtube browsing, and that mainstream audience. If we look at some other ways content can be curated, such as /r/BreadTube for leftist youtube videos, the thumbnails become less important, and what makes a good title is very different. This of course is not saying the points discussed are wrong, just that specific things are about certain contexts that may be different if your target audience is curated from a different context.
Devin you’ve gotten so much fking better at making videos since last year I got introduced to u when you destiny and mouton and lily was doing D and D happy I watched that keep up the quality work
Really like all the collaborations you've been doing. Sucks I don't have time to catch the stream recently. Probably one of my top 5 channels rightnow, not even for the educational value just quite entertaining, good job though can't wait to see more.
6:35 I went and checked the thumbnail on the Ninja vid, and It really didn't make me want to click on the video, compared to the Poki vid. Cool stuff, happy I stumbled across this channel and can learn new things.
Literally thought I had the best Thumbnails I've made so far on my last 2 videos. While watching this in my car in the parking lot, you inspired me to change the last thumbnail and updated it. Thank you!
Solid information! I learned you learn mostly through taking action and reading/studying can't substitute for that. I also learned that it's best to put out all of (or most) of your best content for free and, unintuitively, it will pay you back in dividends.
...Holy... moly... RUclips shifted SEO to the description and did 'not' make the tags facility redundant? O_o Oh...the new uploader is removing it. Hmm. Is that why I see hashtags before some keywords in the RUclips descriptions? Interesting to hear about the title keyword order.... I am now second-thinking my titling strategy... Thanks Devin and Harris. P.S. I still think that Paint.NET wouldn't be a bad upgrade. ;c) ... Interesting problem - ...the dropping the stream for a whole thing... and i'm not one to talk as I gave up on twitch so as to focus on RUclips (not difficult when you're near a zero)... but if one has a cohort then one 'could' have a substitute take up the streaming slack and provide updates on whats going on with the streamer... Another possibility would be an international data package and mobile equipment to set up travel-friendly streams... but I've no idea what that would entail. Loved the D&D reference!
I never see anyone mention things like leeching, self promoting, stream sniping and all the "shameless" ways to grow on Twitch. I can name streamers that grew with those methods and yet people discard it because they are "looked down upon" the twitch community.
let's say I post a video it doesn't do very well and I think it's because of the thumbnail. at that point am I stuck with that thumbnail on that video, or can I create a new thumbnail and attach it? I don't know if at that point the analytics have already marked it as an unsuccessful video and a redesign won't help?
hey i have a question, what happens if a new channel failed to get 15% of the views? does the next video uploaded become less relevant or not? does the channel's quality instantly dropped or do smaller channels still have a chance of growing?? :)
I do pretty decent thumbnails, but I still don't get any traction. I think my content is too niche... But there's the rub. Do you want to do something you like for less views, or something you don't like for more views. From my perspective, I think video length is the biggest determinant of whether or not people click... Unfortunately, I likes me some long videos. Ah frick.
Sometimes when I see tube yube notifs I don’t click immediately I save that video on the notifications on my phone and click on that link either when I have free time or when my yt recommended is dry also I scroll down for like 1 min before I get bored of nothing catches my eye while I’m watching a video sometimes during the intro ill scout my next target if the I midi are recommended on the video isn’t as interesting or I’ll check the main recommended at the end of the vid sometimes I’ll see multiple interesting videos so if I can’t watch both I’ll maby look up the channel and have the video waiting in the background so just a tip for some youtubers on how some people brows and how sometimes we already have the video we want to watch in the back of our heads and how notifications on mobile sometimes are utilized also thumbnails are kind of small so if you have large noticeable things in it I notice those more also title is something I check to weather or not I delete the notification or keep it
another good video. i was really focused only on tags. I'm alreadty working on better titles/thumbnails,, and with the last video, where i tried this strategy i got 2 new subs, im only one close to finaly get to 50.
Best takeaway, “title and thumbnail are 90% of discoverability”. Title is not the the description of what’s in the video, it should intrigue what may be in the video
Thumbnails, title and hook make a video.
I'm still working on all of that
Same bro
Yo I love that I'm seeing this and then KNOWING how far you've come since making this comment dude. You rocked it.
It's a grind
i wasnt expecting to find you here, i love your content!
I just started. If anyone got some feedback. id be happy to improve
You know it’s gonna be good when Harris and Devin team up!
One says restreamings bad the other says it’s good
L
This has to be one of the most interesting videos Ive seen on youtube. I always spent time on finding the right Tags and now you are telling me they dont even matter...
Thanks for saving my time from now now on
Same, man! Devin's on another level of elevating our content.
Trying to get my content on your level especially for hearthstone keep up the good work Solem!
I would still bother with them like Devin does though. The tag system was turned off without telling us but it could very well be turned back on at some point in the future, and you know how the algorithm likes to recommend videos that are years old.
Yeah it totally opened up my mind to caring more about descriptions.
Tags on twitch are nearly pointless, on RUclips though, different story
When I first saw Devin (probably came up in my feed from being a longtime Heller fan) one of the 1st things I thought of: Man I hope him and Heller team up. Glad to see these two put their minds together!
Same. Kept waiting for the day these 2 would have a chat.
"how much ppl listen to you is so much more important than how much money they give you" 💯💯💯
would love to see an updated version of this
So many of the things you guys talk about in this video have taken years to sink in, though so much of this is on my mind on a daily basis. Nice job Devin!

Awesome I've been trying to learn more about investing too. Subbed 👍
7:20 Also who the creator is plays a huge part. I often see bad thumbnails from creators who are big and the video ends up doing 10x better because it has a "brand" behind it.

Just watched your videos the quality and editing is awesome . Do you do it yourself ? How do you find time ? Maybe you’re just faster than me lol
This. This is why I don't take course, and some people got mad at me because I am against their course. I am fine with learning, I take my time to learn and at the same time, do some experiments.
The music at the end killed me! I'm listening while at work and all of a sudden they start getting played off stage. I'm rolling!
This was the first Harris Heller stream I ever watched. It took me a bit to become a regular viewer of his channel and now I’ve come full circle and enjoy both Devin’s and Harris’s streams.

Really good insights in this video, thanks man!

Devin when you and Harris do videos it legit make me the happiest person on earth. you guys are amazing.

yolodolo same
2 videos and 3 streams is a shit load of work, it's even harder when you also have a full time job on top of that
2:28 definitely talking my about Vid IQ
Been trying to make content and didn't realize that my key terms should be in my description rather than my tags. Thanks for the information!
I love these conversations. Providing real insight on what is going on with RUclips. Definitely has helped me plan out my channel. Thanks Devin.
this is probably the most informational video on how to create proper video titles, tags, and thumbnails NGL keep up the good work :)
8:25 information

Loved seeing this stream live, and I have to watch it a second time because the talk was just too good
Wow, this was super valuable information. I learned so much. Me clicking on his thumbnail is proof he knows what he's talking about lol.
i subed to Harris on youtube at around 1k, his content and grow is incredibly impressive

Appreciate the free information 🙂 definitely helpful to understand what you really do and how you guys think.
The link to Alpha Gaming channel is wrong in the description
One of the best videos yet, but then again, I say this about your videos so often. 5/5 content as always.
23:22 I thought that was my computer lol
I love so much that you guys bounce off each other so much. 2 insanely great minds.
You are a hidden gem! Keep up the amazing work!!
I never see anyone mention things like leeching, self promoting, stream sniping and all the "shameless" ways to grow on Twitch. I can name streamers that grew with those methods and yet people discard it because they are "looked down upon" the twitch community.
Very, VERY good video!! Very good information in this vid and great to see two very knowledgeable youtubers/streamers coming together!!
A good watch as always hopefully I can put the information to good use.
Devin & Harris got me out here auditing every video I've ever created 🤣
Thank you for yet another AMAZING video.
You should recollab with him for sure! Charismatic and smart guy
I love the ending with the piano music ❤️
Absolutely golden knowledge shared here. Thanks!

Wasnt the thumbnail. You underestimated the power of the simps.
The "Lawful Good" remark cracked me up.
The alternative capital term you were looking for is called social capital 💰
"Viewers don't give RUclipsrs money" 26:33 😂 💯
I can’t get enough of these videos
information vs. connection. big tip. thank you.
you want to intrigue them with the title. that is really good advise also "The Science of RUclips Growth EXPLAINED" congrats it worked.
Woooww!!! Harris actually knows stuff !!!! not only top trending stuff COOOL LOL
OMG Devin... he IS a Paladin!!!
I LOVE THIS!
RUclips itselft says tags aren't really that important, there's a youtube creators video that talked about that.
Best Collab since Eminem & JayZ
hey i have a question, what happens if a new channel failed to get 15% of the views? does the next video uploaded become less relevant or not? does the channel's quality instantly dropped or do smaller channels still have a chance of growing?? :)
This video is jam packed full of information!
Lol I saw that thumbnail change Devin!
Great vid. Just curious, is there another part to this vid?
pretty much watched 2 guys stroke each others ego.
I literally got an ad on this video that was someone trying to sell me a RUclips course😂
I loved this video, it was super helpful and i got to see two people i watch constantly in one video!
Devin you put the wrong link for Harris' youtube channel!
Edit: the link was updated to the correct channel.
You guys should make more content together, great conversations!

Bro I absolutely love your channel!
So good! Keep it up! :D
Loving the collabs between @AlphaGaming and yourself man! Please keep them coming!
Awesome insights in this video !
Harris Heller is a god
awesome insight! 👍
another good video. i was really focused only on tags. I'm alreadty working on better titles/thumbnails,, and with the last video, where i tried this strategy i got 2 new subs, im only one close to finaly get to 50.
The link for Harris RUclips channel is incorrect I think.
Ahh, so THAT’S why people have been changing the thumbnails on their vids! Handy tip - thanks!
Don’t know how I discovered your stuff but it’s very informative
DT 770 Pro
Great content
Holy shit this video made me learn sooo much!
This was great for explaining everything. I need an editor!!! Who can help??
22:35 -> Rerun 24/7 on Twitch ? I do
Link to Harris RUclips channel isn't right, it directs you to wrong channel.
25:12 What do you mean harris? I seen you tell people to sub in a different video (not calling out) 😂.
Is it true that tags dont matter at all? Wish I knew that sooner lol
0:50 book

I think youtube is aware of your content now because these ads are getting really specific
