AT LAST! No other bugger even bothers to explain what swing is and how to implement it - But Sam has kindly taken the trouble to explain this fundamental, ESSENTIAL FACTOR. If you don't use this at the outset then you may as well give up- THANKS!
I've been learning music theory and musicianship for the last 6 months and it's helped me to also notice that theory you talk about, about small step wise movements for groove, and leaps make the beat more bouncy and partyish. It's nice to see that someone finally made a video about this!!!!
I'm Spanish and my english is very poor, but it's incredible the way you explain in your tutorials even when i cant understand what u say hahaha. They're better than all the spanish ones so far.
Great vid, man! Helped me a lot. Quick tip from a viewer, though: turn off auto-focus on your camera. Just focus on one spot and make sure you don't move too much, haha. Once again, thanks a lot for this video! Edit: Talking about the intro mainly.
Thank you so much man, was stucked trying to do some basses and your video saved me, also noticed that it was posted exactly 1 year ago, I think that is a signal hahhaha
Bang on!, still more fun to play your bass line in then fine tune, also Logic Pro 16 C or 16 B quantise works well. Funny I just referenced a track am working on and bass starts the same first two notes. Quality content as usual Zen, liking your channel a lot lately. even seasoned old producers like me sometimes forget the basics.
This video is incredibly helpful! I'm now going through your other videos to try and learn how to produce a good tech house bassline sound in serum! Is there a specific video that is best?
Hey bro, love your tutorials. Please do a tutorial on the best mastering chain and process for psytrance music! There is not even a single proper video on RUclips, I swear!😭😭
just a silly question. In case my bass is in the dominant tone. would have a problem? or if in the splice case and look for percs that are in another key, but in the tonic scale
Is it possible for to make a post processing bassline vid?? … I’m trying to teach myself how to mix basslines/drums for tech house for soooooo long and i suck and need help
909 based kick I made for the Deceiver Packs on my website. However if you have splice or access to some stock 909 samples you can also work with those. All the best
Zen you're using a bunch of notes in the bassline that are out of key....isn't that an issue? If we do 1 semitone up, we're in phrygian scale, but you go 1, 2, and 3 semitones up all in the same clip. Am I misunderstanding the need to stay in key here?
great video man!
Appreciate you taking time out of your day to check this video out brother. Big fan! All the best!
bohn bummit
John Summit.. Chicago 🔥
🔥🔥🔥
John Summit watching a tutorial video on how to make groovy basslines like John Summit
This is spot on with how the pros approach it
What about without operator?
Intro my camera decided to rave out or sum thing with the FOCUS... Lol Apologize for that but it's here
6:20 "not like this" bro this sounds amazing :D
Love how the channel is growing organically. Your subscribers are purists!
Since 2014 no viral videos but eh I love it too much.

Great video, I’m more interested on the sound design behind those basses.
This was a perfectly timed upload. Making killer tech house basslines is what i'm focusing on right now. Thank you
i was vibing each time u played the bass lines lmao
Felt like the beginning of a John Summit track every time
We learned it to be called a walking bassline back in the day. It's old school and quality. Good to hear it being used in the electronic scene.
