One of my favorite basses for things like psytrance is to just take a basic saw and lower the first harmonic in order to make it a little more curvy. Love the keep it simple bass advice.
I am appalled that in all my Ableton binging videos this year I haven't seen anyone mention "groove" and how to get swing like that. I have been wondering that hard, so I appreciate it!
This is the first video i've watched from you and let me tell you, this is pure gold! im so glad i found this channel. You have incredible skill and i swear ive learned more about tech house from this video than i have from 3+ hours of tech house videos. Great video, thank you!
I watched this video 2 times in a row just so I could lick the screen in the second time, thank you for the video and work you do to people and eletronic music
Love this channel he talks about a lot of things that I think about and don't really have the answers to. My biggest problem is boomy kicks and I posted music on Spotify and when i listened to it in big speakers the kick sounds boomy and the volume is off the charts so yeah it sounds like shit hopefully with a little bit more of knowledge and the monitors I bought I may have better control of what I am doing with my kicks. Thanks for the info bro.
Oh yeah. As soon I feel I got producers block and running one loop around an hour, I immediately take what I already built vertically and duplicate it to 5-6 minutes, place build ups, drops and so. After 15 minutes everything goes forward. As you said ideas comes in process.
Im making music for 6 years now (trap/hardwave/phonk/dubstep) and im slowly moving back to linn drum 909 and 808 samples because i really like the oldschool and lofi vibe (i process them a lot tho)
Not knowing that takes you on a 10 year long train of trying to make it sound good, and I can easily say that the Ableton 9 909 is a GREAT starting point that gives you freedom of processing. api 2k, a saturator/tape, a clipper and it sounds like a beast
I knew i heard it somewhere before lol . I’ve been using ableton to make tech house mixes because I don’t have a controller and it’s helped on the production side of things
Great video as always! If you are using different channels for your drums (midi or audio or both) - whats the easiest way to apply swing to all the channels at once?
You know what’s really a challenging tho . Getting that elrow type percussion groove . La pera récords has a bunch of good producers . Buttt thatttt is what I’ve been searching for. I’m close to the sound but no cigar. Other than that I love all your video . Chido wey 🤙🏼
now that i see it I SEE WHAT YOU MEAN LOL But I can debate the noise in the background ddn't get as lo+u+d as the +vocal and the compressor made the signal more stable for the gate TO Work MORE EFFICIENTLY!!! MY COP OUT YESS THAT WORKS
1.NOT only drum samples,Every sound counts, the quality, tone and general output volume and recorded condition of the samples you combine plays a drastic role to your final mix,OR,if you do NOT want/have samples to use, make sure you process through the Correct chain of plugins each sound (kick, drums, bass, etc) in order to bring them to the desired quality wanted. 2.Swing is a nice technique, but Not the only way to make a groovy rythm, you can always use clever rythms and mathematically clever places on the grid to arrange your drum sounds, and especially the ones that compliment each other, and play with tools like velocity, delay, compressor (in the drum group channel) to bring that personal touch ear candy. 3.Basslines regardless the rythm, must be aligned correctly towards the kick and the balance of levels and tonality must match, eitherwise you will always dislike either the kick , either the base.Learn to use the correct tools to brighten, enhance and compliment your base towards your kick and vice versa,or use the already processed samples that can fit together best (by ear mostly) For me personally,in electronic dance music the kick is the main foundation and is the first always to start the groove, and later on matching the baseline, along as grouping them nicely. 4.Is a really nice approach, always have a track that you listened and you liked,or a specific genre of music you wanna accomplish, and by visualising the music in your head, you start organising the sounds you need to use to accomplish that sound you have in your head step by step. 5.When stuck its always good to find the next complimentary sound or think the arrangement of a start-run-end kinda procedure,so depending on which part you are you move along creating that drop or breakdown or main session you have and moving onto the next one finding go-to sounds or tool techniques to drive that track into tension. Hope these helped. Cheers !
Yes and No the Mark Knight one is on splice sample magic on splice etc. you have to find them I think that’s where producers hide them because it took them time to discover it
Ableton Samples might be a bit raw and not over processed like some third party ones. So comparing the two is a bit unfair. However, they are very high quality.
That’s my point most beginners won’t know how to utilize them to that point and you can argue of them learning to get them to where they need to be but shouldn’t the efforts be put into writing good music first? We all fall into the trap of the SAUCE TOO MUCH

adding a bit of portamento / legato works there too...

Is that bass midi from one of your packs?
Oh yeah. As soon I feel I got producers block and running one loop around an hour, I immediately take what I already built vertically and duplicate it to 5-6 minutes, place build ups, drops and so. After 15 minutes everything goes forward. As you said ideas comes in process.

No matter how good I get .. I’ll always consider myself a noob 😂
LOL
In martial arts they call this "Beginners mind". Its a basic principle of mastery.
bro the way you teach this is so funny hahaha
10:00 putting compressor before gate? What are u teaching us here :D
Working fast haha
now that i see it I SEE WHAT YOU MEAN LOL
But I can debate the noise in the background ddn't get as lo+u+d as the +vocal and the compressor made the signal more stable for the gate TO Work MORE EFFICIENTLY!!! MY COP OUT YESS THAT WORKS
producing a banger on the spot
Is there a similar groove pool in FL Studio? Great tips BTW! Thank you for the quality content. 😁
in the piano roll where you have your hats go to tools -> quantize -> template -> grooves and here you can find swing 50% or 75% etc
how did you do that vocoder thing?
do you throw swing on all the drums? or just the hi hats and snares
16ths so close hats only and snare if on 1/16th grids
Good stuff. You have convinced me to buy your packs :). Really nice energy coming from your videos.
Wow, I wonder how to make high quality drum samples.
Re sample 909
the mark knight daddy shhh had me dead for some weird reason XD
Tips on that fly haircut?
on a scale from 1-10 how happy are you with that moog behind you?

Use the best tr-909 drums you can and bring old house music back to life!!
Great video brother. What happened to todays roast 😂
Are the sample released by producers a higher quality than you get on splice, loopcloud , native instruments ?
No.
Yes and No the Mark Knight one is on splice sample magic on splice etc. you have to find them I think that’s where producers hide them because it took them time to discover it
