What else are you using for the Saw Tooth Tight Pad? I'm trying to recreate in another synth but there is a lot more going on here than sawtooth, cutoff and ADSR. Any tips would be appreciated.
As someone who thinks about music from more of an emotional “feeling” standpoint rather than a technical “follow rules” view, your videos just scratch the itch. Thank you for being you Alex. 🙌🎶🎧
love your channel. Doesn't give me the feeling of "I know better, so you have to listen to me". Also, you keep the pace of the tutorial even and talk as you make your tweak.
At 10:27, The chords are: D Major7 for one bar, f minor7 for a half a bar, and b minor triad for the other half of the bar. And then it repeats. I am using the chord progression in a similar way in one of my projects. But except mine is heavily modified. So I have: D Major7 for a bar, f minor7 for a half a bar to G Major7 for the half of the bar, then D Major7 for a bar but but this time a bit of voice leading for the second half of the bar to make it a D Minor9, Then for the last part of this progression, the last bar has G Major7 for the first half of the bar with voice leading to make it into a G Minor9, then finally for the last of the bar it is a b minor9 with voice leading to a b minor11. And the chords are doing a uni-polar rock guitar style vibrato at certain points in the progression to make them sing. This is why it is so good to listen to videos like this and others to get different perspectives so that you can find some golden nuggets to use in your own projects.
You just took me to another dimension with these gorgeous sounds. I am literally going to take what you've shared and use it. I'm actually looking to make a bunch of EDM tunes so.... Hahaha to infinity and beyond! Thanks for this, so glad I caught wind of you just when I'm getting back into producing. I'm a self taught producer and a long time singer/artist manager so I'm super stokked the fire has sparked again. JUst in time!
thanks for these videos, man. i always remember the most random specific bits of advice from these videos while making tracks, and it really helps make em sound just that last extra bit better :)
Thank you Alex for keeping It simple, you are a good teacher and I understand a lot thanks your explanations!! That needs a lot of work and sometimes I lose my patience and give up.. but your videos always give me an extra motivation 😅😅😅
Thank you. I will use these techniques in my future songs. I don't have serum, but I have sylenth and recently got massive on a huge discount. That combined with vital, sytrus, GMS and some other new free synths installed will be a great practice session.. I have some AIR Music synths as well and recently realized they are awesome (plus they always have discounts going on)..
Alex, thanks for contributing to the community! I'm improving a lot because of you. Thank you very much! This video does not have subtitles here. Are you the one who needs to enable this option? haha If so, please ^^. I'm from Brazil and I don't speak fluent English. Thank you in advance
Hey Alex, another great video packed full of inspiration. Some simple, but brilliant sound design techniques for many different genres of music. Super stuff man 😁👍🔥
Funny, I used Vital, and found, playing along with you, that, first part, when you go up the keyboard the pad gets less harmonics ('advanced' tab, or spectrum), so the sound characteristic changes, but when you add key tracking, the harmonics stay the same. Now 'key tracking' has a face for me ;-)
I did not expect your voice to sound like that. After listening to you I was like actually this guy sounds familiar.. and then it hit me.. you sound a lot like Coffeezilla! lol I don't have Serum but thanks for the tips!
Bro please make a tutorial on how to use Serum and Sylenth1 in complete detail with sound design like synths, plucks, arps, bass and more sounds, Plzzzzzzz
I love the loose pad! 😍😍 so far I've always shyed away from sound design, because I don't understand Synths that much and thought it will be much easier/faster to just use proven presets. but damn, you just opened my eyes to so many possibilities - thanks big time, Alex! ✨🙌
0:29 Saw Tooth Tight Pad
2:02 The Loose Pad
5:03 The Synth Pluck
7:55 The 808 Bass Drum
10:27 Pluck Pad
I don't know why he called it a bass drum. It's just a bass.
